Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

Here comes me with the feeling that the especially infantilised, mollycoddled idols are the ones that often turn out to be less passive and sweet than fans think.

This fixation loads of fans have with treating these men like flawless, naive babies is cringeworty.

I don't want to see rape anywhere, and especially not brought to the ONE relatively safe LGBT haven. With a load of 'what a cutee baby he is' tacked onto it.

Rollocks to that. Let's get it clear. If it's his shit, he's a grown man, obviously indulging in grown up fantasy, or at least keen on collecting and storing it for whatever reason.

I've never particularly liked this guy, and I like him even less now. I'll bow out for the next 200 pages of people trying to justify why he's so fabulous.

twitter armys and shippers are very delusional. you will see them looking past the one clearly gay or bisexual member [mr inner child tete] but they’ll call every other member gay for the smallest things. jungkook is obviously probably straight. taekookers latch off of taehyung’s gay shit that isn’t fanservice everytime to try and prove taekook is real when it really means taehyung is probably dating an old man right now. jungkook never does anything like taehyung does, he rarely engages in anything like this outside of the group.

It's certainly interesting, and although Taehyung seems to have a large circle of friends, if he was doing this with a woman, on some special day, the internet would have collapsed in minutes.

If you want to go down that road (personally I'm staying neutral for now unless this guy pops up enough times and in situations where it becomes pretty much 'I hear ya, dude,' short of them openly saying it) but it does nothing to dispel the very real fact that many young gayers date older guys for the experience and status.

But again, he has a lot of friends, so it might be no more than that. People joining random dots and making the Mona Lisa. All we can do is observe and see if he's a recurring presence. Personally I think it's nice, be he a buddy or more. People grow, change, date, make new platonic friends. It's all good.

Ps, 40 isn't 'old.' Some of BTS are only 10 years off 40! 😉

Okay everybody thank you for your replies. I don't know if I will change my opinion on Hoseok yet but I will be thinking about what you all wrote.

You don't need to feel obliged to change your mind for anyone though. It's always good to hear different views, but none of us know for sure. We're all outsiders looking in on an often edited, scripted world that also has its moments of spontaneity. You might be way off base, but you might be closer to the mark than not. Who knows, right?

And to the person clowning newbies, just sit your tush down for 5 minutes. Don't try and run new people off the land just because you're stll chafing at BTS talk on a gay thread. Give it a rest.

Not personally, but Richard Madden is thought by many to be. Seems to be in a relationship with Froy Gutierrez. They spend quite a lot of free time in London.

I think Hoseok is someone who will marry and have a child with a woman his family will like. If there's one member in the group that I think is really traditional and conservative, it's Hoseok and, interestingly I feel like maybe Jimin too.

Namjoon is my pick for actually the most openly traditional and Korea-focused member, even with his US interests. Hobi I'm not so sure I agree with that assessment, and though I think he did have family/dad pressure, it feels to me as less so now. As if they're the ones that have come round to his life and choices. You may be correct about who he ends up with, who knows. I don't think he's a devotedly straight man in his outlook though.

Jungkook, then Yoongi seem to me the least worried about familial/societal pressure, which binds them (there's always been a very strong vibe between these two), though Jk is more open with his non conformity. Even Taehyung seems to be less bothered about societal pressure now than he was.

I agree about Jimin, and also I think Jin seems quite happy and content where he is.

Rebels from most to least likely:

Jungkook

Yoongi

Taehyung, Hoseok

Namjoon

Jimin, Jin.

Fuck Korea honestly. Don’t they know the CEO of Apple is gay? Why they use Apple products then? Their male idols routinely wear make-up, but somehow that’s ok cause they’re onstage?? Korea and their fetish for gay skinship and fanservice? Fuck right off.

Incredibly sad. Along with the  Twitch streamer who committed suicide after being  “accused of being a feminist”, Korea genuinely scares me. Not a “developed” country at all.

They're using the internet to bully people on, so ironic. Given that they might not have even had it to use if it weren't for an early computer whizz, Alan Turing. Also treated appallingly back in the day, for being gay.

Why can't the Korean powers that be track these online people down though? I don't get it. South Korea is a highly tech savvy nation. Assuming most of it is coming from Koreans, why aren't they tracing their IPs? If they are doing it at a library or school, surely they can look at security cameras and match up who is booked on when.

They put out an app during the pandemic that basically tracked their citizens from home to the shop and to extra marital affairs. Yet there seems no incentive or motivation to get to grips with this online bullying and trolling resulting in numerous suicides. It could even be the same group of people who struck with Jonghyun. They've never been caught.

How much does shame and embarrassment of the victim's family come into this too? Resulting in even more inaction.

Rightly or wrongly, my take on the whole Jk/Tae/Bogum thing:

Spoiler

Jk always struck me as someone who just probably didn't LIKE Bogum. Not out of jealousy or love rival issues, that is pure fangoggles stuff imo, but because he just disagreed with either the influence Bogum and his dodgy cult might have been having on Taehyung at that time (we all know that Taehyung has been vulnerable and gone through internal crisis for a long time in BTS). With Tae's focus being distracted away from group activities. Or just that Jk didn't click with B, and he let it show that he wasn't all 'Yay' for his presence. Maybe they didn't politically or ideologically agree on things, who knows.

It would obviously seem a bit hypocritical if Jk was keeping time with his own, err, friends. But then he got busted rather than BH bringing her onboard as a legit, open part of his life, which they were happy to do for Bogum, filming a backstage surprise, getting him into the Cola advert and earlier allowing Tae to post holiday pics, etc.

Whether Tae and Bogum dated or fooled about, only they know. But I can see how other members would try and protect Taehyung, who seemed bessotted with the guy. Especially if Bogum is still an active member of this church. The distractions could be potentially disasterous for a group like BTS. Even if BH didn't pick up on it maybe some members did.

I remain on the fence about JK but it's worth noting that straight peeps don't have the monopoly on confidence. Or showboating, lol.

I don't think the above tells us much about his sexuality. I think it attests more to his fun loving nature.

'Nobody' in Korea thinks anyone is gay because they're pre-programmed from birth to deny gay exists. Until, shock, some find out it does.

Try any harder and you'll fall off the page.

Listen popoff qween, I'm the one who won't be having a 40-page meltdown if Sehun is straight. You're the ultra-emotionally invested one who will literally chew your own arm off if he turns out not to be so straight.

I won’t be having a meltdown lol. I’ll be like “uhhh strange I wish I could ask personally what those receipts meant” and move on. Also how would we ever know what his sexuality truly is unless we know him personally/intimately? Queer people can obviously lie to their own parents, even their own (straight) partners. It’s just that apparently you’re a “dunce” for thinking he isn’t straight…when we’ve got the man asking his members whether it’s ok to say his heart flutters because of male fans, which leads to him nervously saying he likes men

But he said it as a joke right? Why was he so nervous for a joke? Either everything was next level Exo/SM queerbait conspiracy forced on Sehun

or he just isn’t straight

My post wasn't aimed at you btw. The popoff qween knows who she is.

The usual. Someone takes mega umbrage over the use of a word that THEY decided was offensive, when it clearly has different contexts to others.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with fruity. In my country it often means  frisky and playful in a semi-sexual way, and is orientation free. I draw the line at people walking in and demanding others limit their language based on one person's personal offense ratings.

Just no.

The clothes thing is such a huge reach. I work in fashion industry. The ratio of gay/not straight male fashion designers and stylists are basically at least 97% (100% for male M.U.A in my experience). It means if you guys searching on any random fashion brands which have male designers, there is 98% of them being not straight.
If the pieces he wearing are from limited pride edition like Yoongi’s shoes, it will be more possible to be a receipt for me.

If you want to talk about how Taehyung fashion taste has a connection with homosexuality, don’t forget the time he said he likes Gucci because he is being inspired by Alessandro Michele art vision.

I mean each to their own but I think it's perfectly on topic.

If people can post threads re: Tae wearing Chanel (which he's worn for years) that somehow newly intimately link him to Jennie (based on an edited car photo that turned out to be J-Hope by the looks of it) then it's fine to speculate on Taehyung's gay golfing knickers.

It's all good.

I literally had to wait a few days for the mod to approve my signup request so that I can write this down. Please allow me to talk about Taehyung and Park Hyo Shin.

I have been Tae’s fan since 2017 and I’ve spent the last few days doing research about PHS. Be warned of a wall of text.
So we all know that they met up around January. PHS made an Instagram post on 1 Jan saying that he hoped for a new year with good memories 🐯. Okay we Asian don’t celebrate Lunar New Year on 1 Jan yet and to us it is still the Ox (🐃) year so it would be really weird if he just meant 🐯 as in the Lunar New Year then. Then the next day, as we knew already, he posted an Instagram story that said With u 🐯 (the icon again!). 2 days in a row? And let me tell you, he had used Instagram since 2016 and this was the first time he had ever posted a story. You see? How special is this “u” person that deserved such special treatment?
Now let’s talk about the two stories themselves. PHS is generally a very timid/shy person (imagine JK in his 40s. They basically share the same birthday) so if you see him pull another’s person head closer, it means they must be really really close.

I’ve watched several interactions between PHS and Jung Jae Il (who was speculated to be romantically involved with him) cut from the show Your song on jTBC and I haven’t seen PHS act so freely like that. On a side note, I cannot detect any chemistry between these two guys either.
Back to the topic, two guys drinking, giddy, high af, singing, and siting right next to each other to the point their heads can touch...Hmm interesting.

I was a little embarrassed when I watched the stories at first because it felt pretty intimate to me and I wasn’t used to seeing Tae like that lol. But I didn’t really think about it that much until Tae attended the Broker premier with no other than PHS.
So Kang Dong Won revealed that Tae’s seat was one row closer to the stage than PHS’s but he still decided to join PHS in the back row. What really caught my attention and made me rethink everything is how they left the venue together. They walked side by side and their shoulders brush against another for the most parts.

Do you guys often walk with friends and touch shoulders? Not very often, right? Because it feels uncomfortable and you cannot walk fast. I even rewatched the video where BTS visited KBS bulding back in 2020 and had the longest- ass stroll to the station to compare.

It was much more crowded there and yet, BTS members barely touched shoulders and generally left a comfortable personal space among one another.
Besides, PHS is 14 years Tae’s senior. Not only is the age gap is huge but also PHS is a really big sunbae to idols, so even though I’m no body language expert, I believe if a person is with a very respectable senior, he/she will walk behind them (unless they are talking) and act a little submissively (check out how Tae was all shy and baby-looking hooking arms with Kang Dong Won.)

He (and most people) tends to behave like little kid around older friends/bros but here, he exuded ultra confidence, and walking side by side showed that he thought of PHS as someone equal to him.

Above is my observation and although it is too early to assume anything, I will surely be keeping an eye on these two to see if they will be in contact in the future or not. Taehyung has all kinds of one-time-and-never-seen-again interactions so let’s just wait and see.

Thanks for going this far. I’m happy that I’ve finally got this off my chest ☺️

That was a really nice post and thank you for sharing your thoughts. Most interesting.

The obvious thing to suggest is that, yes, Taehyung has a large network of friends, some of whom we see regularly and others less so. And he has pretty much moved beyond the level of needing to bow to anyone senior these days unless it's someone in government, lol. Also in the walking clip they are being chaperoned (I presume for security reasons), and are rather hemmed in - so naturally are going to be close. But clearly they are very comfortable with each other anyway.

As before, his behaviour with this man shouldn't be dismissed imo. They could be close friends, in a sort of musical and friendly mentorship, or something more romantic.

It's just nice to see him be able to go out with people he likes and chill. He might have time to do more of what he wants now they seem to be somewhat freed up for however long. Let's see what comes of it. 👍

Sojang is just someone who picks up on blind items and rumours and makes up her own narratives around it, so she's not a very credible source but that doesn't mean nothing she puts out is ever credible, either.

to be fair, the Sehun thing has long been going around, maybe it's BS, but he and Chanyeol are the ones most commonly named out of EXO who are maybe frequenting these businesses.

As someone else has said, it's so common in Korea there's probably a ton of male celebs who do this, unfortunately. I remember reading an article in some magazine where a man described his business trip to Korea and being shocked that they brought him to one of those things as a deal closure favour and he didn't quite know how to get out of it (he was gay, which he didn't want to disclose so the whole thing was incredibly awkward - which is probably the only reason he talked about it).

I mean there's someone on Twitter who is putting about rumours Taehyung has a toddler child. Based on 'tarot cards' and surfing gossip sites, no doubt.

Almost all the really popular idols have/had rumours, and sometimes crazy, extravagant ones of bad behaviour or sex scandals. In fairness, any of them could have secret kids or be already married/partnered or harbouring criminal records, but there's also a TON of bullshittery floating about with no basis in fact. And a ready audience.

Sehun is perfectly entitled to spend his free time doing what he wants but it's amazing how someone can make a statement and it becomes almost flesh. Purely because of the uncertainty coupled with intense desire for a celebrity. I survived OneD and the rumours and alleged scandals were legion. Some were true but lots were just utter tripe. Keep all at arm's length.

There's a real irrational, cowardy custard clowner on here doing the dump and run out of spite methinks.

I'm looking forward to the day OH forum upgrades the facility so people can be identified by emoji response and I'm going to follow that poster around and leave clowns on all their OH posts. And when they put their toilet lid up at home there's going to be an extra large clown in the bowl looking up at them saying: "Your wig, sir."

If you believe the possibility that Bogum's closeted, and let's see, guy rumours, check, fiercely private, check, got most upset out of the blocks re: the affair with someone's wife rumour, check, has had interesting and deep friendships with males, including Taehyung, check, no obvious girlfriend on the scene for years(?), hasn't said or done anything that would stand him out individually as a 'phobe, and isn't a daily drama lama, afaik.

Supposing he's in a network of closeted men who band together and look out for each other? Or maybe Taehyung's loyalty to him stems from a desire to protect his friends who might be vulnerable themselves? It's speculative of course, but also quite likely. People have to understand the deep and lifelong damage stepping out of line can do to people in SK. It is not this wondrous, charming, K-pop world of harmony and fun. It's deeply conservative, religious, biased, often racist, sexist, homophobic and berates itself every five minutes for either not producing an heir or for getting a dance routine wrong. Yes, K-pop has chilled out a bit, but westerners have to respect those perceived negatives above because that's someone else's country, their culture, which they define by democratic vote.

We shouldn't pretend that life is a cakewalk for potential or more 'confirmed' closeted SK men with contracts, careers and fans. And whose images are finely built upon them being eternally available for women. You will 100% get groups of guys who will club together in an underground kinda way for lifelong moral support. Bogum and Taehyung may or may not be in that situation. But it wouldn't surprise me if they might be.

But what do I know? All these guys might end up happily married to women and have kids. Though I doubt it's that simple for some names we all know and/or love. Even an idol or actor leaving South Korea to live a freer life somewhere isn't the entire answer because they are all brought up to be wildly patriotic and with a desire to promote SK abroad. So going back after leaving could feel like dodging your cultural references and responsibilities. And if you're LGBT I'd imagine the pressure and scrutiny is a hundredfold.

You can have a nice life in SK, as long as you can afford, and/or conform to societal expectations. Outside of that it's well documented that many struggle and for varying reasons. I don't expect people like BTS or Bogum to be any 'freer' than they were when they started tbh. Richer yes, but necessarily doing/being exactly who/what/where they want to be? Nah. Taehyung's long FESTA face and statement was a dead giveaway.
