Which male idols do you think are gay?

I do have a question about a Boyfriend concert (Chicago) I went to a couple of months ago. Sooo like, there was one of those random seating things where literally whoever was sitting in that exact spot got to go on stage and be serenaded to by Donghyun. It made me wonder what would have happened if me or another fanboy would have been chosen from the audience instead of a female fan and how him or another member would have reacted?

Vixx had a similar thing with their showcase where hongbin and hyuk basically had to fight for the fan's love by singing, dancing, showing abs, etc to the fan. And I saw a fancam at one of the showcases where the fan chosen was a boy. And they put their all into it and did their thing like it didn't really matter that it was a boy. Made me really respect them because that was super professional of them.

 

I don't know Boyfriend well, so idk what would have happened. All I can say is that there are some great idols out there who are absolutely lovely towards their fanboys and treat them just as well (if not sometimes better) than their fangirls.

And sadly there are some who act weirded out by their fanboys. Depends on the idol i guess.

Re: luhan. I only ever get the straight vibe from him and for me, if the feeling isn't there then that counts as a lot for me so I'm hesitant to say that an idol could be gay if there's nothing going on with the ol' gaydar.

 

I think insisting he is masculine comes from a place of SM or someone or something trying to emphasize his feminine side. He sees himself as more masculine than other people, which can be a gay or straight thing. It also seems to have become a bit of an inside joke within the fandom, even if luhan doesn't like it lol.

 

Funnily enough, sehun and tao seem the most secure with their gender identity. Sehun with his very feminine way of doing everything, and Tao with his more feminine style of dressing sometimes. It can be a gay defense though, but in luhan's case I feel it's more of a gender identity thing than sexuality.

 

Doesn't he always look at members with sparkly eyes though? If we are going to bring "the way they look at each other" into it, I thought the first choice would be xiuhan....

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'll be honest. I watched this vid last week and I got vibes between sehun and the host on the left. Is ahn jae hyun gay?

Wait do you mean between Sehun and AJH or Sehun and Jung Joon young? Because I'm looking really hard for what you guys are talking about and I just don't see it. I felt like Sehun looked more at JJY than AJH, but I didn't really get any sense of attraction from anyone.

 

And I feel like AJH could def be gay. He has great chemistry with guys. He's also doing a great job of making the characters he plays seem gay. (Yoon Jae's crush on Do Min Joon, and if Park Tae Il in You're All Surrounded doesn't turn out to be gay I'll be surprised)

Ermm idk what exactly happened but it seemed like a sudden thing. I'm sure he wasn't hiding it

if anything it's that he didn't want them to be worried.

But like I said it's probably something that happened suddenly where he couldn't really tell anyone.

I tried following them a while back but couldn't find much on them so I gave up.

This MV was grossly cute and a little too much for me, but nothing I could gauge sexuality from as it was acting.

You should tell us what you think though. I love hearing about groups I don't know much about.

 

From my point of view Soohyun up till now always seems to be genuinely interested in Girl Groups, the opposite sex in general and once he even said on a concert, after seeing two girls being really close to another, that two women can't date-  it's just wrong. Of course that doesn't mean much as a lot of other Idol's (including Eli and Kevin) have stated the same assertion. Also, as you know, he lives together with Hoon (another Ukiss member) in an apartment and sometimes I do wonder if those two have something going on and that this their chance to be happy and left alone.

 

As for Kevin, I certainly think he is gay, tho his mother said Kevin dated a girl in the past, I don't get the feeling that he is really interested in the opposite gender, like at all.  Unfortunately, I also stamp him off as one of those guys who will marry a woman just to please their mother and have a lover behind their backs. The same with Kiseop from Ukiss, from my point of view, he lacks lot's of disinterest towards women in general. Surely as any other (gay) Idol, he gives off some forced reactions when a pretty girl appears, but it's quite the opposite if you compare it to Soohyun and Eli's reactions. Those two seem to be genuinely passionated about the other sex. Also, both Kevin and Kiseop even said they were uncomfortable with dancing sexily with their dance partner for their current comeback and from what I see, (behind their pokerface) they look really akward whenever they have to touch them on the hips or stomache. Which isn't really a surprise to me, when I am allowed to be honest here.

When it comes to AJ I picture him as a person that doesn't really care the person's looks or gender as long as the personality is right for him and he truely loves that person. Be it a man or woman. Altough sometimes I do think he lacks of sexual attraction for either of them and rather focus on his career and studies than being in a relationship.

 

Hmm. Well I don't follow them that closely so you could be right. I just know from what I have seen of Soohyun he seems to like guys. He is a very friendly and excitable guy so I could see how that could be confused for genuine interest. Or maybe he's bi? Like I said I guess I don't know him that well so I could totally be wrong. 

 

The Jokwon scandal was what first got me paying more attention to him, and I gotta say when I read the things they said to each other, it's hard for me to believe it was just friendly between them. Also, regarding what you said about him being genuinely interested in girl groups; that interview I was talking about where he didn't even deny being gay, the reason they asked if he was gay in the first place was because he said he didn't really like girl groups. So idk what to think haha. Sometimes I think on heavily scripted shows and stuff they may push him to act a certain way and say certain things, but I think if they have more freedom he's always honest. We should also consider that maybe he didn't realize he was into guys from the start. Maybe he was genuinely interested in girls and girl groups then changed later on.

Meh so hard to tell with idols because most of their images are just that, images. Fabricated, not real.

 I was trying to reason that maybe, since he's the youngest, he sees kevin like an older brother, and it's an affectionate hug towards an older brother...but I'm having a hard time. It seems more like a hug between couples.

Omg yes I noticed it too. I tried to think that he was trying to fit in and seem close to the members. But it wasn't just the backhug. Jun seemed particularly possessive and attentive towards Kevin. He was all doe-eyed towards him and his gaze would linger on Kevin even when someone else was talking. 

 

I love cross gene I need more of them in my life. They need to go on variety shows and stuff. Hope they get an ASC ep too.

Although guys in East Asian countries are a bit more touchy with their male friends, regular guys =/= idols. They do show more physical affection toward each other relative to Western guys, but I feel like it is often exaggerated by people in the kpop community because they assume that all Korean guys are going to act like the idols they know. I grew up in an East Asian culture and I hang out with a lot of people who are immigrants from Korea/China/Japan, and although they are more touchy than your average Western guy, they're not as physical with each other as a lot of people think them to be (but they are often called "feminine"). I can't speak for all Korean/Chinese/Japanese guys, but from all the people I've been exposed to, I've only seen a few cases where interactions could be percieved as questionable from a male Western perspective (and in one of these cases I'm pretty sure it was because one of them or both of them were gay).

 

That leaves us the question of why male idols are so touchy-feely with each other. It is very likely it is for fanservice encouraged by the company. But could it also be genuine attraction or love under the guise of "skinship" or an artifical coupling? We may never know.... but that's what this thread is for!

Yep agreed. I've seen a couple of cases of netizens reacting to people being outed. The netizens were always angry with party responsible for outing the other and feeling pity for the party that was outed. It's a line reporters still will not cross, outing people.

Even in the case of Hong Seok Cheon, he first came out on a television program, but the tv program edited that part out to protect him. He was then approached later by a reporter and he willingly came out.

 

Or like i've read before, why didn't they got sent on WGM instead lol, as if the only way to beard is to only go on WGM. 

 

About koreans, i have a korean friend and he thinks all idols are gay and is kind of grossed out by the whole idea behind kpop thought it's expected from a guy but i also have chinese and japanese friends that when i told them  i listened to kpop the first time i met them their reactions were like "are you serious? why? you know that most are all gay right?" and i asked them why they said that and all they told me was "because everyone and their mother in asia can tell, it's obvious but no one cares already except the fans" (they reside here in my country but have their families in asia and go back and forth). Makes me think that for the most part people can tell and see it but are so used to it by now that it's somehow become "normal" and shrugged off, older generations may not like kpop because of this but since it's marketed for young fangirls they don't really matter that much (that reminds me of the times the idols are doing shenanigans in public in some variety shows and people in the background tend to give them nasty looks if you look closely)

Yeah I have a feeling this is true because I've heard it from several Asian guys as well, Koreans specifically. They tend to think what idols do is weird and going way overboard. 

 

 

 

 

On another note at first I found the Baekyeon thing hard to believe, because I really do believe Taeyeon is lesbian. But they do look cute together. I ship it. I just hope if they really are dating that they are happy and people leave them alone.

 

I do still think SM is using this to cover something else up or as a tactic for something. (Note I am not saying it is staged necessarily, just that it is being used for other motives)

I still think their relationship is fake, but I don't think they're being forced to do it or anything. I think they probably arranged it themselves and worked with their management to go in for the long con (4 months again lol) or are willing participants at least.

 

I think Baek is bi, but I think Tae is a lesbian and although she's supposedly dated guys for real in the past, I don't see that happening nowadays tbh.

I think Kwonnie's biggest obstacle is the military. If he does ever come out, he won't do it before he does his service. If he comes out they won't let him do his service, and he will get more hate for not doing his time than he will for being gay.

It has a lot to do with the bullying issue in Korea I think... Younger Koreans are extremely unforgiving of anybody who does anything bully-like 

 

I don't think it's unfortunate though. It's a way to get straight Koreans to empathize with gay people and really feel like they're the same in some way. What's unfortunate is that somebody would have to willingly be thrown under the bus for a plan like this...

Yeah but it's really sad that that's the only way for them to get a good response. I'm sure if someone is outed they will get a lot of sympathy and the party that outed the other will get a lot of backlash. But if someone comes out on their own, I have a feeling the response will be more neutral than before but still leaning toward the negative side. I think most Koreans are now at the point of, Ok it exists but I don't wanna know about it. They respect homosexuals if they keep it to themselves basically. It's still really messed up even though they are slowly changing. I think once the younger generation displaces the older things might be a lot better but right now the country as a whole is still very conservative

First @Karma Butterfly, amazingly I agree with most of the k-lgbt speculations you've put up here. After being on this thread a while I started questioning my speculations because everyone was saying it was so unlikely that so many idols are gay.

I was almost swayed into agreeing but when I think about the fact that this is the entertainment industry we are talking about, and the nature of kpop, I don't think it is unlikely after all. And then seeing your posts I now have a lot more confidence in my own speculations.

It's been wonderful reading what you have to say on all this. I think you really livened up this thread!

 

When you said VIXX is queer, what did you mean? I know queer is often used as a blanket term for LGBT but it means something different for so many different people.

has anyone ever talked about Block-B? I think U-Kwon is gay but he has a girlfriend so idk anymore. I also think that Taeil is gay. Zico and Park Kyung sometimes make me question them.

 

 

I personally don't think U-kwon is gay, I think the gf is legit. Agree on Taeil. Zico I think can be confusing sometimes. I definitely believe he likes girls though, so if anything bi? I'm leaning towards straight though. I don't really think there's anything between Zico and Kyung, they are just really good friends  and have been close for a very long time.

Out of interest - does anyone's gaydar ping for Bangtan? My friend is convinced (willing to put her entire house on it) that there are at least 2 gay - or at least bi ones. But idk.

V pings me very hard. I feel like jk certainly could be gay but I can't really tell yet. Same with the other members. I can't tell yet with what I've seen of them. Leaning towards straight with most of them though. Except V. I feel very strongly that V is gay.

 

With Block B, U-Kwon's had his girlfriend for about 3 (?) years, who seem to be in peaceful bliss. So he can be ruled out. I feel if the girlfriend was a cover up, he'd flaunt her a lot more, but I forget they're even dating most of the time. Idk though.

Unless it's all some really dedicated cover up, Zico is pretty anti-skinship, and seems to recoil if any of his band mates/any male tries to initiate skinship, so I'd rule him out too. Kyung is along the same lines, and has had somewhat homophobic lyrics in his old mixtapes. I don't know how much that means, though.

Taeil is quiet and reserved, but I don't think he's gay. He seems pretty repulsed by the idea of a male initiating contact also, though not to the extent Zico is.

 

They seem pretty straight to me, but I could be wrong!

Agree on U-kwon. And I actually felt that Zico goes back and forth about skinship. Sometimes he seems to really enjoy it and initiates it himself and other times he's just like "ewww" I often feel like he enjoys promoting Zikyung for the heck of it. Kyung I agree though, seems a bit homophobic. 

Taeil I do think is gay, but I agree with the other half of what you said. I certainly don't think he is comfortable with his sexuality at all and could also be homophobic. It's certainly possible to be gay and homophobic unfortunately. He may not acknowledge he is gay or may be trying to suppress it.

So I've just gotten into BTS recently, and I remember someone mention V a couple of pages back (that time I really didn't pay attention to them so I didn't read about them), may I as you what do you think about them, and could you please elaborate on why you think V pings for you?    And J-Hope really reminds me of Jokwon, their expression when they dance to girl group dances is priceless  And since he reminds me of Jokwon so much, he got me thinking

One thing that's interesting about J-Hope is that unlike most OTPs posted in here, he gives off a vibe.

Here is what I will say about BTS. Yes Rapmon i think is for sure an ally at least. My opinions on their sexuality? I think Jimin is straight. He's the only one I feel confident in saying that about. I feel confident in saying V is gay. Why? vibes, body language interactions. He's definitely very affectionate and loves to be taken care of. I've seen him get shy around guys (and he's particularly affectionate with JK) and it's hard to explain but I just have a sense about gay guys sometimes. Sometimes I can't tell, but if I do get vibes, I've been right more often than not. And I know it's bad to stereotype but a lot of feminine guys are gay. There is no denying that feminine guys tend to be gay more often than not. And it may not always seem like it but V is pretty delicate. He even admitted in an interview. Fans were asked which member they thought was the manliest and they said V. V was shocked and was like "well thanks but I'm not like that at all actually" Which pleasantly surprised me because most guys want to seem manly even if they aren't.

Take that how you will I could totes be wrong. J-hope, Jin and JK have all had moments for me where they pinged, but I can't form an opinion about them yet. Feel like I don't know them welll enough yet.

No I definitely agree with you on the stereotypes. I mean there was this one guy I knew in high school that didn't fit the stereotype but I had this HUGE feeling that he was at least bi if not gay. I don't understand why so many people here are so convinced that TOP is gay. Other then him acting feminine sometimes and being friends with some people that are suspected to be gay there really isn't much "evidence" that suggests he's gay. I'm interested to know why people think he is gay, someone care to enlighten me?

 

I've never really got the vibe from him (not saying I have amazing gaydar haha) but I really do think TOP was dating actress Shin Mina at one point. That;s not to say he can't be bi or anything but I just don't really see it. 

Body language for me is one. And the way he acts with Daesung, GD, and Se7en is another. His affection for them has always been over the top it doesn't always seem like fanservice. I've just always felt that TOP is attracted to men tbh. .
