Which male idols do you think are gay?

I haven't been here in a long, long time but I caught the end of Jo Kwon's live yesterday and the sheer amount of comments from girls asking him to marry them, bringing up his "relationship" with Ga In (in 2022), asking him what type of girl he likes and so on sent me reeling into a whole different universe. The sheer wilful blindness was a formidable thing to behold.

What I've gathered from this is that you could have a guy emanating rainbows, more flaming than a 230ft wide cavern in Turkmenistan, voguing under a banner bearing the words "I AM A HOMOSEXUAL" and there would still be an army of women denying it, engagement rings at the ready.

and these people everyone, should be the true recipients of the clown reactions…. 💀

Some thought it was coincidence that he had the same colors in the MV in 2018 but I think it can't be coincidence anymore.

Also, Irene attended his concert with Jimin. For those who don't know, Irene is also one of Jokwon's best friends, attended Jack in the box party and there are rumors about her dating Hobi.

Wow. Nothing like straightie relationship rumours in the gay thread on this fine morning.

haven't watched it but i did see clips from it, one of him not being phased by the word bussy and then another of him not knowing what a vulva is and was gonna send it here semi-jokingly but simply decided not to.

also noted that after reading one of the nsfw tweets he was like "i really want to meet them in person" and was like 🤨🤔🔎🗒️ at the gender neutrality of it all but then realised he probably just meant he wanted to meet them because he found it funny........ unless 😏

i don't follow him but whenever i see things of him sent here i'm like wow what an interesting individual lmao.

Occasionally I have my doubts but I’ve always seen Jackson as not being straight. Things like this are amongst many moments that keep me thinking so

I think Kai is most likely bisexual. I have to admit that with him being my ult there may be a bit of projecting here but nonetheless I’m not quite sold on the straight Kai agenda a lot if people seem certain of. His friendship group, managers seemingly ready to believe he and Taemin were dating and huge differences in on stage and private personalities are some of the things that come to mind right away

Taeyong and Taehyung have indeed been struck by some sort of curse. Let us all pray for the sakes of Taemin, Taehyun and Taeyang (SF9)

If we could all direct ourselves to Wonho’s Instagram for his latest tiny short display that may be the very much needed derailment this thread needs, however

Also, could someone please summarize the "Soobin is probably gay" theory? I'm Korean-American and not totally removed from the culture, gay, and pretty experienced with navigating LGBT life (i.e., older, etc.), so I think I have a decent take on things, and I've never gotten gay vibes from him.

Finally, I'm new here, and in previous posts I've been reading about how many people who consume K-pop content are being led to believe that Korea is a "progressive" country. I don't know where to begin to really address this granularly, but I can at least say this:

  • Picture Tokyo as depicted on mainstream YouTube and/or in 21st-century Western pop culture, add 50% more Confucianism (and for this purpose think of Confucianism broadly and roughly like mainstream Islam in urbanized Southeast Asia minus a deity), and subtract 75% of the supposed sexual openness of Japan's major cities. That's everyday Seoul.

The rest of the country is even more conservative. The mainstream young aren't shifting the culture left anytime soon: the current generation in power is "progressive" for Korea (yes, you read that correctly), and the current young generation is the backlash.

I also agree with this from my own experience living in Korea, outside of Seoul. Even though I existed there detached from ‘general society’ being a non Korean, these things still become glaringly obvious. While personally I don’t believe it has anything to do with Confucianism your point about Korea being far from progressive still stands. Attitudes even towards feminism and women are so far from the way it’s viewed in Western Europe for example, particularly now with an increasingly conservative young male population and toxic internet culture. I had a Korean classmate at my university there that stated people shouldn’t have to care about things like feminism and lgbt rights because it doesn’t affect them, and while yes he was just one person, I do think his opinion is far more representative of social trends than YouTube videos of progressive Koreans. That’s why I would agree your comment about economic inequality being more topical makes a lot of sense.

Also I just want to add on, as young Korean men are becoming rapidly more conservative the age group that we are looking at here encompasses all our favourite male idols too. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that gay and bi idols are gonna end up in groups surrounded by homophobic and misogynistic members. Obviously it’s not the kind of thing where we’re likely to ever be able to tell who would hold such values, and we can’t exactly go creating “which male idols do you think are raging conservatives” threads.  But what I’m saying is that expecting idols to be more open or even come out to the public is truly reaching, when firstly they may not even be able to do so with those they are living and working with everyday. Worth bearing in mind.

eng trans: Xiumin (EXO) and Leo (VIXX) got together for a night of wine.

Xiumin said that Leo was 'upset' that he gave a racket that Leo wanted to Chuu (Loona), so Xiumin went to his house and the two reconciled over wine.

The context of the racket is that Leo wanted it, but when Xiumin met Chuu he donated the racket to her at the “Jiwoo Shop” board, which is where guests bring special items.

..lmfao so.. leo and xiumin again…

I wonder what that reconciliation looked like… 👀

I feel you on this. It was my initial take as well and then I thought that is unlikely, but some could have taking their behaviouralism and influenced others. That is kinda what Namjoon is for me and how he comes across.

I’m inclined to agree, I have fairly solid opinions on all the members with a significant exception. Jin. He’s a total mystery to me and I can quickly agree with convincing evidence suggesting him to be either straight or gay.

I mean how many kpop groups have performed in Saudi Arabia by now? BTS are the only ones I recall getting a huge backlash but Saudi Arabia's views on LGBT issues are certainly no better than Qatar's. I don't approve of Jungkook participating but I also think people hold them to a different standard than everyone else. If China was open for Kpop groups everyone and their mom would perform there too, no matter their iffy standing on human rights etc. Kpop is above all a capitalist venture.

From my perspective it’s far more than just the policies the government of Qatar have towards the lgbt community. Of course abuse human rights has been a longstanding issue in the Persian Gulf for decades, but the amount that has been generated specifically because of the World Cup is what makes it so problematic. Performing in a country is one thing, but performing at an event that has directly contributed to the deaths of thousands of workers, and the organisation of which was been embroiled in vague assurances of safety only to be drowned out by homophobia of those involved is something else entirely. For that reason I think having a concert in Riyadh is incomparable to being a face of a event responsible for so much damage.

funny how nobody mentions in2it here...

Yes I agree! They are a hilarious bunch of gay boys and deserve more attention from this thread.

I would also add EXO to the list of multiple queer members. There is a member who I shall not mention in fear of summoning god knows what. On the other hand there are Suho and Kai.
