Hey gays, I've come to impart a theory upon you all that EXO's Chanyeol is in a relationship with Japanese-American actor Arata Mackenyu. Some background information: Mackenyu is 22 (Chanyeol is 26), he's a rising actor in Japan, and he also has gay rumours. Gonna put everything under the spoiler because it's kinda long:

 

 

 

It's been long joked about in the EXO fandom that Chanyeol has a secret Japanese girlfriend, which is why he goes to Japan so frequently. But tbh it's looking a lot more likely that he actually has a secret Japanese boyfriend. First let's start off with a timeline of the both of them (dates in dd/mm/yy format):

• 04/09/18 – Chanyeol in Japan till an unknown date, but left before 14/09/18.
• 07/09/18 – Chanyeol follows Mackenyu on Instagram, Mackenyu follows him back on the same day. 22/09/18 – The first time Mackenyu likes one of Chanyeol’s first Instagram posts.
• 26/09/18 – Chanyeol returns to Korea from Japan. Spent Chuseok in Japan but don’t know exactly when he left Korea (was most likely only there for about 3 days though). Was with Choi Taejoon (actor, friend).
• Couldn’t find any flight details for October and November (preparation for comeback in October then comeback in November. He had group schedules in Japan, so I’m not ruling out that he could have seen Mackenyu there. Also not ruling out that he could have evaded fans at the airport which is why there’s no info).
• 22/12/18 – In Japan till an unknown date (I’m guessing he went back to Korea around the 29th). Not sure about the exact date that he went as there are no fansite pictures but I think it was around this time. Bearing in mind that Christmas Eve in Japan is kind of their version of Valentine’s Day, and couples often go out to celebrate.
• Chanyeol and Kasper (choreographer, Chanyeol’s gym buddy and friend) in Japan from 01/01/19 to 06/01/19 – Kasper and Mackenyu post selfie together on 05/01/19, Chanyeol and Mackenyu post selfie together on 06/01/19.
• Can’t find the exact dates he left and came back but on 15/01/19, Chanyeol was seen in Japan with Mackenyu.
• Chanyeol and Kyungsoo in Japan from 15/02/19 to 21/02/19 – selfie with Mackenyu posted on 20/02/19.
• Chanyeol in Japan from 24/03/19 to 29/03/19. Passersby said they saw him with Mackenyu.
• Chanyeol travels with Kyungsoo to Japan on 14/04/19. CBX have tour dates in Japan on 16/04/19 and 17/04/19. To my knowledge, Chanyeol does not go to either of the concert dates, but Kyungsoo does (I don’t know if Kyungsoo went to just one date or both of them). On 17/04/19 after the concert, CBX and Kyungsoo fly back to Seoul together while Chanyeol stays in Japan. Chanyeol comes back to Korea on 19/04/19. While he was there, he went to see Haruma Miura in the “Kinky Boots†production (Haruma is one of Mackenyu’s close friends).

Also in February - Mackenyu posted a video of a box of chocolates on Valentine’s Day with “Love Shot†playing in the background (my delulu brain says it's because Chanyeol gave him the box of chocolates)

Mackenyu also said that him and Chanyeol call each other every day and try to video call occasionally.

There's also a tweet that said "OP asked Mackenyu if he likes Chanyeol, he answered "I like him very much~" while smiling so bright OP felt soft and pleasant hearing it from him. " but the account who posted the translation got suspended so I can't embed it. There's also this tweet in Japanese that I can't find a translation for so the rough translation is: "Fan: Please get along really well with Chanyeol! / Mackenyu: But this [our relationship] cannot get any better, our relationship is pretty good!"

 

Moving on to a bit later in February, both Mackenyu and Chanyeol posted these pictures on Instagram:

 

Mackenyu originally captioned these pictures with "date with angel Chanyeol-hyung" but the caption was later changed due to fans being messy.

 

On the 1st of March, they both wear the same hoodie on the same day. A few days later, Mackenyu posts a video of him listening to EXO's Kokobop in the gym on his Instagram story.

 

Near the end of the month, Chanyeol went to Japan to see Mackenyu:

April 2019 - 3rd time him and Kyungsoo go to Japan together just in 2019. CBX’s Japanese concert happened while they were there (as mentioned in the timeline) but only Kyungsoo went, so what was Chanyeol doing in Japan? Chanyeol and Haruma Miura also followed each other on Instagram - Haruma is one of Mackenyu’s friends. Haruma is also an actor in the Japanese Kinky Boots production. Also worth mentioning is that during this trip, Kyungsoo and CBX flew back to Korea while Chanyeol stayed in Japan. Also from this trip:

Also something else I picked up on: I believe that Chanyeol may be introducing some of the EXO members to Mackenyu. Chanyeol and Kyungsoo have gone to Japan multiple times just in 2019, and in a interview in February or March this year Chanyeol said to Baekhyun "when we go to Japan you have to meet my friend".

 

Idk it seems pretty likely that they're dating tbh (or are at least sus)

With the way yg is he doesn’t care enough to do a whole meeting. I get where you coming from but, I genuinely think Bobby has grown up a bit. He seems more open minded. With how conservative Korea is I don’t think a idol saying stuff catered to the lgbt+ community will sit well with them. Boys from the new produce who said they support lgbt+ got knetz to say I guess I’m not voting for them. That’s how easily it can backlash just showing support. I’m not saying that Bobby has outright said “I support gays†but, the things he says is on a line where people could attack him. Straights are delusional though... With the whole fake coming out video it does upset me that they found it amusing.

Do you know how lgbt+ tend to gravitate towards certain artists for example Lady Gaga. I was wondering if there was an artist like that in Korea that korean lgbt+ people gravitate towards.

*to the poster above. It’s like this in England (where I live) also. Especially if you live up north, the guys and girls are meant to be tough and it’s bad to show emotion. (Where I live also). I think it may make someone more distant if they knew there friend was gay. They’ll be less touchy. So in them regards I think it’ll change a bit. With makeup and stuff it’s normal there but, I know men tend to ridicule it there also. For example that guy having a go at BTS because wearing makeup isn’t hiphop.

Unrelated but what’s the tea on Heechul and Gunhee? Are they still a thing?

I think they broke up but, still friends. If you listen to Heechuls recent song (he wrote it) it seems to be about a breakup if I can remember correctly.

Does Hongjoong from ateez ping for you? I don’t pay much attention to ateez. I occasionally watch videos and listen to their music. So I could be wrong and just assuming too fast. Thoughts on ateez in general?

 

Also I would like to say this. I unintentionally tend to bias people who later on start to ping for me and you people. Is it weird that I tend to gravitate to the sus members of the group before even thinking they’re lgbt+. For example Key, Ten, Yuta (I think he’s sus), Seungkwan, N (from vixx) and Wonpil. To add on my friends in highschool and primary school mostly ended up being lgbt+. We was friends before anyone even came out or knew about themselves. Is it just a lgbt+ thing?
