epichugger 675
I'm still new into the kpop world, been into it for a year and like 2 months. I'm watching an ateez being clingy compilation and has anyone noticed that recently boy groups have started to affectionately kiss members on the cheek without prompts? It's super cute. I've seen compilations from older groups and members freaking out about it. Now members sometimes barely react to it. Do you guys think that it's a fanservice thing or that the public and/or idols are being more open minded now about platonic kissing and it not being seen only as romantic affection between boys. Or idols are taking advantage of the public using the excuse of fanservice to at least be more bold with their affections and possibly as a way to show affection to their bf in public? Or maybe a mix of reasons depending on the idol? Sorry if i worded this weirdly, english isnt my first language. Also receipts of ateez? I'm starting to know them.
epichugger 675
In eastern cultures, it's quite common for boys to have sexual experiences with each other if they don't get to touch girls often. It's only in the anti-gay-sex western traditions that these experiences were seen as bad. I mean maybe once upon a time? but now korea and a lot of eastern countries, correct me if im wrong, are very homophobic so i don't see how that answers my discussion question on the recent trend of idols not being afraid of kissing their members on the cheeks with some members barely reacting to it when kissing on the cheek has been used as punishment and people reacted negatively to it.
epichugger 675
I don't think young groups are necessarily more comfortable with skinship than older groups. For example: (And Super Junior's entire history) But then again, skinship was never really the issue in Korea, was it? Skinship between friends has always been accepted, and fanservice has been understood for a long time. The issue is more clear and explicit acknowledgement and support of LGBT people, and yeah, I would definitely say young groups are doing way better on that front. Also, on the subject of "Korea isn't actually homophobic and any gay/bi idols would've come out already," Holland said that when he told his prospective company that he wanted to come out as gay, they said "Absolutely not." So even if some idols want to come out (and I'm sure some do), they can't because the companies don't allow it. Edit--This might give a bit more insight: I mean super junior and shinhwa are special so i don't count them xD I just noticed this trend from 3rd-4th gen groups and i obviously dont't know previous generations that well. At least from compilations and interviews i've seen,it wasn't seen as a positive thing, i mean its used as punishment and people acted disgusted and cringed. If members kissed each other on the cheek outside of a punishment and/or it wasn't blatant fanservice they would get weird looks and sometimes asked if they were gay or insinuated that they were gay. Some examples where the kissing has been acceptable are fans asking them to kiss, interviewers asking them to, situations in variety/reality shows making them kiss, being in concerts (obv fanservice) or even a pledge. I'm talking about casual smooches like during vlives,twitter/instagram posts, or moments in shows where the purpose of it is obviously not fanservice. Like you can see that it's them just showing affection randomly and it was out of their own free will. I've also noticed recently, what actually made me post, is that at least in some groups, they don't overreact when they get kissed or see a kiss and sometimes even smile or they just treat it as a normal thing. I know younger groups have reacted negatively to it before though. It was something cute that i noticed, because i don't remember seeing this many casual smooches before. I'm so glad younger and small groups are getting bolder day by day though Edited March 8, 2019 by epichugger

epichugger 675
Please keep the poor, innocent Seungri act in the threads about his status as an official suspect & now pending booking. I do not understand why it keeps getting brought up here. I put it in a spoiler for a reason since it's out of topic and it was my one time comment. Also if you read the articles, not just the title, the booking is so that the police can investigate faster since they'll have more access to warrants. Besides, this is the first time that it has been brought up here from what I've seen. I won't say anything else regarding this since it's out of topic. 2
epichugger 675
I suggest you watch the video dkdktv made about the SOPA scandal before saying that, because if you had watched it you would know that it's pretty much resolved. There was a very quick response coming from the local education authorities, they made an investigation, reported to the police about the forced labor + other things the principal and his wife did with the school's money. And both have been demoted from their positions already so they can't do anything anymore. Oh i did watch the DKDKTV SOPA vid, i'm actually subscribed to their channel, for some reason i thought that there was stuff still pending lol I do remember that when investigations were ongoing the burning sun thing blew up. I could be remembering things wrong though so I'll just remove that part. Thanks for the info Edited March 10, 2019 by epichugger 3

epichugger 675
^Is there a way to get someone banned from a thread? This is getting ridiculous. Please do not quote or reply to them. It's obvious they just want attention. I refuse to believe someone is this stupid and close minded, especially when they say they're gay.I do not want to be associated and people thinking that I have the same thoughts as the person above regarding my previous post that got some negs so i'll explain myself in the spoiler. I promise this is the last time I touch the subject. To make things clear I in NO way support people that does sex and drug trafficking and abuse/harrass people. If seungri is declared guilty, I won't defend his ass. I'm just having the benefit of the doubt since there isn't any hard evidence or official statements from police stating that he's guilty. I'm a big believer of the innocent until proven guilty if there isn't any hard evidence.I've seen a lot of people going into the hype of hating someone to the point of the hated person deleting their accounts and it's later proven that it was all made up and people weren't even interested to find out if it's the truth in the first place. I've noticed that on the internet, they love hating someone in order to appear like a better person and refuses to believe that people's thoughts and personalities can change for the better if it's regarding a past receipt of something that someone did. (example: JB being super homophobic rumor when he has done things showing support to the LGBT or at least being open minded). People these days believe everything they read/see on the internet without some investigation and it's SO easy to create fake evidence. Fair points of course, but please don't misunderstand. This isn't about pitching ships above each other for me. I've never made a secret of the fact that I find hardcore shipping childish. I simply make my judgements on individuals reactions to each other on this thread, not based on the adoration of OTPs or secret signals from scripted car adverts and such. A good deal of this stuff is nice but everyday interactions between all members.Fundamentally, just because I believe something has changed for the better between Yoongi and Tae in the past year, I don't lock them into OTP land and get combatitive when someone says they think there's nothing to see here. I'm not someone who is all guns blazing OTP. And I can tell there's a few of those here. Lol! I've even said I don't rule out Vkook dabbling in the past. I just think they've grown up, moved on and made new alliances.I can even accept (reluctantly) that BTS are all great actors and straight guys. Which is probably a sacking offense, lol. The difference is I won't get offended by exploring Non-OTP type possibilities: some make sense, some don't. I more dislike when the Internet serves up rumours about violence, vices and wackiness. Which are so intense they leave no logical gap for the fact that these people have to spend most of their time w-o-r-k-i-n-g, to make BTS so successful. For all I know I'm reading everything backwards, observation wise. I've done body language study and statement analysis for a long time. So I try and go with what I think are more reliable tenets of human behaviour than follow a precise and organised shipping movement. Just because I think there's a new and interesting dynamic between Yoongi and Tae doesn't mean I'm right on or I'm going to get upset if someone disagrees. When you're observing Tae with any member other than Jungkook there is no egging on from a massive contingent of nodding dogs who are all magically in awe of ie, a shoulder rub. For the quieter theories, like Tae and Hobi/Yoongi/Jin and even RM, you're pretty much on your own. It's only lately Tae and Yoongi have come onto fandom radar because they simply don't seem to be able to stop gravitating. Yesterday's antics were more than a little Morticia with her cup of tea, imo. I can't help that, that's down to them, lol. More power to them though, whatever's going on. It's good to see a younger and older member so in sync. It's hard for me not to comment if I think a thing is being boosted to be more than it is. But hey, anyone can say the same thing for Tae and Yoongi or Jin, etc, I won't fly off the handle. It's only speculation and sparring on a forum. None of us live their lives and it's always good to take a step back and realise we're never going to see a full picture of anybody's day. This is long and half about BTS shipping and half about why I think BTS pings so hard so def to spoiler tag. With you 100% on problems with hardcore shipping and that's why I spoke up maybe. Tracking this thread has me thinking about BTS fandom in different ways and why shipping fascinates and bothers me. Makign romance serials out of real people who are also celebrities and strangers is not good because it doesn't just go 'hm maybe they're gay and even together who knows' but 'they're together and this is the story of their love and when they met and what they like about each other and how they have sex and when they're thinking about having sex' and its crazy. But like you I do like the interactions of the members and get why people ship different pairs at the same time. The same reasons I think all of BTS might be LGBT is maybe why so many Bangtan shippers are not just making fiction but super believe. For a time I watched videos of all the major ships and talked to my shipping Twitter friends and came to the conclusion that BTS is the most shippable and maddening group ever. They're so close you could argue most of them. LIke :Jikook - huge flirts, both probably queer, all over each other a lot, for a time in 2015 Jungkook couldn't stop hardcore coming on to him, chemistryTaekook - we could talk about this one for days. I'm not convinced but I get why people are into it but they super overanalyze. The history and their moments crazy tho like the BV 1 kisses. Can't figure them out. If you want to do a Taegi and Teakook DM let me know 'cause they're both so something.Taegi - also get it, Yoongi has been mega soft for Tae lately and that whole Vlive was really soft too. Chemistry.Namjin - another What goes On? Super rejected it until I started to notice Joon has a thing for putting his arm around Jin pretty much all the time. Award event? Arm around Jin. Interview? Arm around JIn. Jin doesn't seem to mind. Early Namjin were all over each other. Head hurts. (note when people say they think Jin is straight I don't get it. He has never shown any interest in women and flirts with guys, but we're all just spitballing so.)Yoonmin - Wait no but then again Yoongi likes to spontaneously say "I love you" to Jimin a lot, take comfort in each other when stressed, soft mini-mins. Madness increases.Taejin - Chemistry on stage like fire.Namkook - JK openly idolizes Namjoon and calls him his boy crush, on first meeting admired his thighs, softness all around. Namjoon seems to find Jungkook mega cute and says so. Joon: JK, Jin, Shawn Mendes, he has a type.HopeMin - early on they were mega sexually flirty, Jhope especially.Sope - Yoongi is so happy and relaxed around Jhope, he's different. The Maknae and Everyone: They. So. flirty. Like Tae was very lovey to Jhope too like someone said. on the passcode it was mentioned in the same Vlive that he didn't change it from his last studio and Jhope knew it too, but still its so cute and Suga is so comfortable with Taehyung. Jin at times, Vmin soulmates and their queer friends flirtation style, attracted to Jungkook, has Suga in the palm of his large hand.... Tae is overtaking JK lately in 'shipped with everyone'.Jimin and everyone. So clingy. so shippable. he gives tons of affection and demands lots of affection.Jungkook is a flirt with a butt fixation who knows they all find him adorable and let him get away with murder. Shipping target #1.That is what makes me not sold on any one pair tho' and the point of this ramble. They are all so close that it's impossible to say and its why I won't commit to any one 'couple' or think we can know but do think they're family. The comfort and looseness and warmth of them just is next level and its impossible to separate out one particular duo and say 'closer and more flirty than the others' because they're all that way but different. But they are totally accepting at the same time. Burnt Gucci's receipts list is no joke and it holds up to watching all their content. Just knowing my groups of LGBT friends who bonded through hard times and looking at BTS I see big correlations. They seem deeply bonded, but we can't know how deep those bonds go.bTS has made me nuts. Please send help.Short version you're not wrong! Good points. I think this is why BTS confuses everyone so much with how close, comfortable and open minded they are with each other. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if all of them are lgbr. It's also why I think people love to use the it's statistically impossible for the majority of a group to be LGBT when it's literally random chance, to deny that it could be true. There could be groups in which all the members are LGBT or it could be an all straight group, we'll never know unless everyone in groups reveal their sexualities. If idols are open about their sexualities to their company, can you imagine companies going " You'd be the perfect addition to this group with your talents and personality but i'm sorry, you can't debut in this group, we have a limit 2 lgbts for this group and we already have them. For the public, it's not statistically possible if this group of 5 has 3 or more lgbt members." edit: lmao just saw this on twitter. I love how these are the two from exo that are the most widely speculated to be gay and in a long relationship with another man xD Ignore the caption of the tweet though Click here to view the Tweet Edited March 11, 2019 by epichugger 6
epichugger 675
yikes sorry about the double post but i saw some stuff about hongbin from vixx being involved with some negative rumours (not a very popular rumour, they were just spread by an anti and were shut down really fast. i just want to make sure y’all know this is not at all related to the scandals and crimes that are being investigated at the moment. it’s only a stan twt issue) but people were saying that (and this is related to the rumour which i’m not going to explicitly state bc it’s already been proven false, but if you look up hongbin on twitter i’m sure you can figure out what it was) starlights have thought hongbin might be aromantic and/or asexual due to his reactions to romantic interactions between people (eg saying he would splash water on couples, skipping romantic and kissing scenes in games and just expressing a general distaste for romantic interactions). i was just wondering what you guys thought about him? bc i feel like i either see people guessing he's aro/ace or that he’s gay. i could kinda see aro/ace (but like people have mentioned, it’s a bit hard to judge that, even as an asexual person myself, but still i can see signs that he could be) but i was surprised to see people guess he might be gay (though to be fair, i’ve never really seen him act particularly "straight" either). I feel like I've posted this a hundred times (so, apologies to the long-time residents of this thread lol), but: I did see the tweets talking about it, i'm so glad it didn't spread out because of a dumb thing. As an aro/ace myself, you can still fanboy/girl over celebrities and appreciate and love how good looking someone is and even want to be in a committed relationship with a specific gender (obv depends on the person) even if you don't experience sexual/romantic attraction. I'm not that familiar with VIXX, even though i LOVE their songs, I am SO behind on their content. But if it's not a one time thing him expressing disgust at a romantic situation, pretty sure it's llikely that he's aro, or who knows maybe he just hates the generic romantic stuff that the public loves, I know I do. I love seeing those vids of Hongbin fanboying though, always appreciated. Edited March 13, 2019 by epichugger
epichugger 675
This is a general thing, but i don't understand why it's bad to talk about what you think of a minor's sexuality as long as it's not in a sexual manner. Some minors know their sexuality early on. It's not like we're shipping them and saying things like he's horny or something in a sexual context. Minors can still have crushes and show subtle signs of their sexuality in public content. I'd only understand if it was like a 12 year old but i think 15 and over is not terribly young to start speculating. I say it's all good as long as it focuses on the romantic side of sexuality, unless you know you see something suspicious like someone ogling at a man's body VERY obviously and not go into detail. All this not wanting to discuss about minors gives this feeling that sexuality is an adult only thing and that it's all about sex. Edited March 13, 2019 by epichugger 41
epichugger 675
Didn't we discuss about this sometime ago? Sexuality doesn't have to be about sex and almost everyone starts to "discover" about their own sexuality at a very young age. And the association of lgbt with "adults only" comes from the prejudiced views of the straights that being lgbt is something exclusively sexual. No one thinks that being straight is adult only, and you know why. I know there was a discussion some time ago. I just wanted to discuss it again since it has been some pages ago and not everyone goes back and i'm recently seeing people being hesitant on talking about groups that have minors recently. But is is a good point that it's because of straight people. Probably since a lot of the content that has lgbt representation, hopefully this changes, tends to focus on the sexual parts and/or the party life. There wasnt a show/movie that had the cute side of romance or just a person that goes through their day but happens to be lgbt. Please tell me if im wrong since im not that familiar with past lgbt content, im going by the few shows and movies that ive known. A good example is that when i was a teenager one of the most famous gay tv shows was queer as folk, which included a lot of night stands, aids, etc with focus on the softcore porn. Or the popular brokeback mountain that was about a repressed gay cheating on his wife and having lots of sex with his lover. Compared to today, we have one day at a time that is about the daily life of a gay latina and, i forgot the name of the show on netflix and im working, the one where gay people help others change their fashion and lifestyle. Hopefully this mindset changes as this becomes more common.
epichugger 675
I'm backreading and just wanted to address the gay media representation bit particularly regarding QAF and why it was what it was: Actually early LGBT representation (that was sympathetic and not like gay coded villains) were actually very desexualized. You had a gay main character on Dynasty in the 80s with Steve Carrington whose gay lover was killed then he got married to Heather Locklear's character and then was de-gayed after they recast the character. One of the original main characters on Melrose Place, Matt, was gay and you wouldn't have known he was because he had next to NO physical intimacy with his love interests and he was on the show for several seasons. Meanwhile all of the straight characters were having raunchy love scenes like every episode and bed hopping like no one's business. Will & Grace also debuted in the 90s and while Will and Jack dated and talked about their love lives, it wasn't any different from other sitcom characters of the time. Soap operas also were introducing more gay characters around the late 90s early 00s and they too were desexualized as not to offend more conservative straight people. I mean it was a big deal when a gay couple would finally kiss, like it was an event. And even then they would happen very sporadically. These couples were also very traditionally masculine for gay couples and feminine for lesbian couples. Queer As Folk came on in this context as a show that unapologetically embraced same gender loving sexuality when literally no other show did at the time. The show was very intentionally not concerned about what straight people would think. It was said directly in the characterization of Brian as the unapologetically gay and sexual character who didn't believe in marriage equality and criticized the other gay characters for trying to appear respectable in the eyes of straight people to gain acceptance. The characters had a lot of sex because you couldn't see gay characters have fully realized intimate relationships the way straight characters did on every show. And they didn't just have sex and club and do drugs, they had deep and caring friendships and relationships, struggled with a variety of issues that didn't only have to do with them being gay though their experiences as gay people affected how they navigated their careers, education, family dynamics, finances, etc. The show was actually very revolutionary in presenting all aspects of gay life in a very affirmative way and made the statement that gay people don't need to be perfect "normal" people to be accepted and loved. Just the character of Emmett alone was a big deal because you would never have a campy femme character who was also fully-realized and sympathetic and not just a caricature at that time anywhere else on TV. And Queer as Folk came on premium cable too so a lot less people saw that than they did the other portrayals I mentioned earlier that all came on broadcast television and had significantly larger audiences. Suffice to say, I think it's actually been the opposite where there are a lot more desexualized portrayals of LGBT characters in media than there are shows like Queer As Folk which is why that show is still so popular among the community despite a lot of it's problems (like the fact that there are like no POC characters other than the anonymous tricks who have no lines) Thank you so much, I had a feeling that I was wrong since I'm not American and didn't watch that many american sitcoms

epichugger 675
Anyone's opinion is as valid as the other because we have to admit we don't know. My guess is based on the fact that I've been out longer than most of your have been born, and I come from a time when people had to hide their sexual orientation so that good Gaydar meant you were not arrested, or beaten up..trust me, it had to be good to survive. Even people I know who said they were straight, and I'd say no, you're in the closet I would one day see at the club in West Hollywood and say, "HA..I told you so." So...tadahhhhh...here are my BTS gaydar guesses: RM - 21st century straight Jin - 21st century straight Suga - 21st century straight JK - 21st century straight Jimin - Gay V - Gay JHope - Gay i'm sorry but what does 21st century straight even mean? Did you mean straight but supportive or something? And i was watching VAV vids since I'm interested in knowing them and I found this, pretty sure it's been posted before. epichugger 675
JR and Ren, both gay, 99% certain they've been dating for 8329 years Minhyun: possibly bi, definitely in love with JYJ Junsu. claims he's never dated anyone...lol Baekho: his close friendship with Bumzu can be pretty questionable. gives off not straight vibes for sure Aron: acts the straightest, and is definitely into/has dated girls (the members have teased him about it) BUT he says some EXTREMELY questionable things sometimes. I think he has legitimate attraction to guys sometimes but doesn't realize it and will probably stay in the no homo closet forever rip nu'est is just not a very straight group lol Not that i don't believe you,but do you have any receipts on why you think JR and Ren are dating and the questionable things nuest as a whole has done?
