Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

Well I didn't die or lose my house in the hurricane, but have been without power for almost a week (even though the rest of the block got theirs back two days ago).

First time posting in this thread. I'm actually a few pages back still but saw this and I thought I should post it

There can be no doubt that they are together now unless Jonghyun got the other three Cartier for their birthdays too. Key's comment is so blatant too.

Don't sleep on my babies, they continuously serve it up.

OMG where have you been sis'? many fans started "shipping" jaeyong after the MAMAs

Here for you this video summerize all the moments that happened between the two that night! why was jaehyun crying is still a mystery ( did someone eat his bread again lol )

Im quaking. This is news to me. I just shipped them because they have hella chemistry but like???? This video changes everything.

This is why them blatantly ignoring each other whenever a camera was pointed in their direction during this time was so suspicious and we had that whole discussion about them. Add the paper roll messages and the way they talk about each other, on top of their other moments, and...

I still think Taemin and Kai's friendship is weird.

 ...

They're like this basically every time they're seen together publicly, and it's not like they barely get to see each other.

I find their personalities kinda weird and quirky in general, so the combination of the two together is just bound to be weird. I'd really like to see their whole clique with Ravi,Timoteo, and Sungwoon together on a show just to see what they are all like together. Also, whenever I see Kai and Taemin together I always flashback to that super awkward "love triangle" photo spread they had with Krystal in Korean W. It seemed a little too true to life, haha.

So we've got more upcoming survival shows, and...

Everyone in Imfact (gayass kings) except for Sang are going to be on The Unit, as well as Jun and Chan from ACE.

As for Mixnine, we're going to get KNK, Romeo (including the two who kissed on VLive when they thought they weren't on cam) and Haejoon from Boys24 (who had boyfriends as a trainee but had it covered up by friends).

This should be interesting.

Both of those shows are coed too so we can really get a better gauge of how the participants interact with both sexes unless they keep the male and female idols totally separate from each other.

I'll never understand how so many people sleep on Donghae and Eunhyuk when, to me, they're the most obvious after Tony and Jaeduck.

My guess is it's either that they're so blatant that people assume they're joking, or that neither of them have effeminate mannerisms and therefore don't "ping." (This isn't directed at anyone in particular, by the way. Just a general trend I've noticed in this thread over time with a lot of artists)

I do understand the first one (though it would be so easy for celebrities to use that to their advantage), but honestly, I kind of wish people would cool it with the second. Yes, sometimes people do just ping, and sometimes that's all the evidence you have, and that's fine. But not every gay/bi person pings. Does Wentworth Miller? Portia de Rossi? Michael Sam? I feel like in 2017, there are enough openly gay/bi people out there for us to see that you can't always tell just from looking at someone and watching their mannerisms.

It's the same bias a lot of people have with Jackson. It's like, he has muscles, so therefore nothing he says or does counts.

I just think it would be great if people stopped treating "pinging" as if it's a requirement for someone to be not-het. I don't think I've ever pinged anyone in my life; that doesn't make me any less gay. :)

I noticed that bias too and find it puzzling because conventionally masculine men are not a rarity in the gay community at all. Like it has become so prevalent in response to the "fairy" stereotype, hypermasculinity can be as much of a tell as femininity. Granted not everyone has the ability to freely access gay spaces like bars and stuff, but when you do go you see the wide range of types and can hone your gaydar to be able to clock non-straight people beyond their general appearance or mannerisms.

This has nothing to do with anything, but let's all remember Taemin touching Kai's butt on TV. smile.png

tumblr_o1b9sm7UzA1siz08ho1_250.gif

(This reminded me of that radio interview where Taemin denied that he and Kai even hold hands lmao)

Edit: and just to show they're equal opportunity:

You're on a mission to expose these two...and I'm here for it. Continue.

Does anyone have an analysis of Taeyong?

Just search his name in the thread, we had a big discussion awhile ago about him. I'm surprised someone would say there is a concensus about him, as most people just think he's straight. I use to think he was too until I started following NCT more closely and when I really observe him, the way he acts and some of the things he says, I really think he's gay.

honey how old are you? your reading comprehension really sucks. who the FACK said there's "no gay culture" in korea?

don't twist someone's massage just to win an argument.

i stopped responding to your message because it's like talking to a kindergartner. jesus christ.

when i say  "westernized LGBTQ centric view", it means you can't PROJECT this onto these korean boys. you are viewing these korean idols through your westernized progressive gay culture.

Again, this is where you fail because you weren't raised in korea.

ok , so to bring up some actually relevant topic.

3 years ago on J Hope's birthday message, like when jimin said "hyung i love you!" , jungkook was like, "eeeehhhh we're getting to say this to a man"

now what you westernized gays do is, seeing this and immediately like omg jimin is gay, omg jungkook is overcompensating right now. he's hiding [email protected]!#@[email protected][email protected]

whereas , koreans and jimin jungkook jhope whoever would not even think twice about this. that's the difference.

It does NOT mean that there's no gay culture existing in korea. It means gay culture is not as much relevant and prevalent in PEOPLE'S CONCIOUSNESS.

Being gay is totally not mainstream, You can bring me whatever gay characters or people in media (Hong Suk Chun, you say? HGAHHAAHAHAHAHAHA he's like the only known figure, that should tell you something, jesus christ), or whatever undergroud clubs or whatever. Koreans are not used to gay related anythinig. period.

How old are you that you can't just let it go and move on? And if we non-Koreans here can't speak about Korean views on homosexuality, you certainly have no authority to preach to us about a "Western progressive gay culture" (still haven'the explained what that is), you clearly know nothing about.

"Western progressive gay culture" = general public throwing around "NO HOMO" "this is soooo gay" the F word. And gays fighting to stop people from using it to make people more aware.

i'm just talking about the US. gay related jokes and gays existing are constantly in people's minds. LGBT issues are one of the most prevalent social issues along with racism. these have been built upon for several decades and sipped into the general public's consciousness.

koreans don't have this context. like at all. NADA.

You do know that gay people still exist and identify as such regardless if there is a gay rights movement? Before Stonewall and even up until like the last 10 years, gay people and gay culture were not mainstream and the general public didn't talk about it or accept it outside of the HIV/AIDS epidemic or in regards to the "threat to traditional family values." I've also seen plenty of man on the street interviews conducted by Koreans in Korea asking random people their opinion on the LGBT community and they had opinions on the matter, so they know what the concept is. Plus Western culture is widely consumed, a lot of these idols go to the U.S. or have lived or were born there and would bring that perspective over. And the Internet is a thing which allows people to access communities and ideas that they may not have access too (this is major for the LGBT community because if you don'the live in a major city in a liberal area, the resources available to you are slim, yes even I the "progressive West").

I just don't understand how any of that has any bearing on what this thread is about. Being further along in the acceptance and understanding of sexual orientation and identity means that we know that one's gender expression (whether they are conventionally masculine or feminine by their respective cultural norms) does not dictate the former. Most of the regulars in this thread already understand that there are differences in what are considered masculine or feminine behaviors between cultures and make adjustments. That's the crux of why the Taekook posts were deemed inappropriate because in the Korean K-Pop context, there is nothing particularly gay about two men sitting in each other's laps, hugging, or being generally affectionate.

This really didn't need to go on for two days.

TLDR :

me : offering a perspective and opinion as a native korean

you : you're wrong cuz my westernized views

me : but you should not view it through your westernized perspective

you : did you just say there's no gays in korea? i'm offended that you just told me i should never be allowed to talk about korea's gay culture

me : i said you should try to lift your own westernized view and see korea with a different perspective. i was trying to educate you on it.

you : bu.. bu but. you know gays still exist in korea.

me : never denied that. i said korea has no cultural context related to gays like in the US

you : you should never talk about western culture, cuz you just said i am not allowed to talk about korea's gay culture

me : ??? when did i say that? go fix your reading comprehension

i came back after 3 months and ppl still actin like suho aint invented bisexuality smdh

anyway someone pls catch me up on any Big Tea. is seungkwan still pining? has sehun finally posted his grindr profile? are heechul and gunhee getting hitched? the world must know

also, re: move—i'm tentative to talk about it since i've been avoiding shinee since the scandal but the dance, from what i've seen, seems very inspired by vogueing (as someone who has studied voguing myself, though not as a performer)

I wondered what happened to you. You haven't missed much (except for all the messy thread drama). Sehun is still running around with his daddy Chefsuke. Heechul and Gunhee are fine as far as we know. Jonghyun bought Key a very expensive Cartier bracelet for his birthday which Key posted a picture of the box with a caption that referred to Jonghyun as "the man who loves me/my world," so if you weren't convinced of them before, well... There are a lot of new groups debuting and comebacks so it should start to get good in here again.

Idk if this has been posted already

I don't care which ship you ship but Jikook are out there doing THE MOST

They went to Tokyo for their hols

Jimin posted these:

And like 30 mins ago Jungkook made pretty much a Jikook FMV (with a Troye Sivan song as the BG):

:rlytearpls: :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls: :rlytearpls:

"Boy I'm holding onto something,

I won't let go for nothing,

Running, running, to keep my hands on you" (?)

Ummmmmmmmmm...okay :imstupid:

I get the feeling Taeyong is interested in boys because he has more of an emotional connection with them. I don't know if he is necessarily sexually attracted to men, but I get the feeling he cares more about the emotional part in a relationship, and it sounds like he has only experienced that emotional connection toward boys (as of now). Who knows, maybe he needs to get close to someone to be sexually interested in them. He just seems like that to me, from what I've gathered.

He fascinates me, I absolutely love him.

I get that feeling too in regards to the emotional connections. It was really evident in that message he wrote to Jaehyun once, the level of emotional investment he puts into his close relationships. It seemed way more than what people usually invest in even their best friendships.

imfact's ungjae and jungha from the unit

I was just going to ask if anyone has been watching The Unit because of these two. I only know about Imfact because of the posts on here so my antenna went up when Ungjae took Jungha under his wing kinda agressively, then in this last episode he kept gushing when they were alone in their dorm together. While production is busy making sure the girls an guys never even make eye contact, we have a budding gay romance getting airtime, lol.

In general, I strongly doubt any of us are actual statisticians anyway. We need to stick to what we know, point it out when we see suspicious behavior and keep it moving. I'm not sure how we keep getting into this ridiculous philosophical debate every month or so when I haven't seen ANYONE EVER post a good suggestion for how we would hypothetically decide who's LGBT+ and who isn't once we arrive at a number of members that's statistically improbable. I've been trying to be nice about it but I'm going to start asking people directly what, exactly, they're suggesting because are we supposed to be like "hmmmm...4 out of 7? Well you wear a lot of single colored T's, and you have straight boy tendencies so probably not you...OH! you look and act more feminine and I thought YOU were gay first so I guess it's you guys!" That's the type of ridiculousness I can imagine since no one has actually suggested anything.

Anyway, statistically unlikely stuff still happens. That's life. We don't have the answers. That's life too. A lot of the data these stats are based on is flawed anyway since it's based on self identification in a world that is pretty homophobic and overwhelmingly pressures people to conform to straightness. That's ALSO life. People need to let it go.

Exactly, there isn't even a solid statistic for what percentage of the general population is non-hetero so you can't even say what would be "realistic." And if there were, that says nothing about the distribution. Say you have 100 idols in 10 groups of 10 and 10% are gay. Each group could each have one gay member or one group could have all 10 members be gay, or they could be spread across 3 groups. Either way, 10% of those 100 idols would still be gay.

In regards to the masculine vs. feminine thing, what behaviors constitute as what is going to vary base on cultural norms and constructions of gender. There is also the concept of code switching where one may present one way in a dominant culture setting, but act differently in the minority culture setting. I've known plenty of gay men who present very masculine in dominantly heter settings like work or school, but will queen it up when around other gay men or will act sightly more effeminate to signal to another potential gay man that they're on the same team.

Gay people are also just more attuned to what behavior is considered "gay" vs. "straight" because at some point, someone has tried to correct us or somebody else's behavior to be more heteronormative. So if you want to stay in the closet, you do the things that are considered "normal" and avoid those behaviors that would out you, and vice versa when you want to drop hints to let others know your gay. Having a gaydar is just being able to pick up on those behaviors in others. Gay people tend to have good ones because we have to pay attention to this stuff, but anyone can develop a good one to the point that you'll be able to be pretty accurate and not get tripped up by whether someone is feminine or masculine.

B-Joo

Dongmyeong

Euijin

Jeup (IMFACT)

Ji Hansol

Jun (A.C.E)

Jun (U-KISS)

Jungsang (A.Cian)

Kijoong (IM)

Kyeongha (TopSecret)

Lee Jung Ha

Marco (HBY)

Rayoon (MVP)

Rockhyun (100%)

Sebin (SNUPER)

Seyong (MYNAME)

Sunghak (BIGSTAR)

Taeho (IMFACT)

Ungjae (IMFACT)

The ones in bold are the ones I was going to say. IMFACT, Jun (A.C.E.) and Ji Hansol I already suspected from before the show, the others have done suspect things on the show, though with Seyong it's his inner bitchy diva personality and mannerisms that get me. I can see why some would suspect Dongmyeong, but he was really excited at the prospect of HyunA doing their evaluation for the cover mission and was disappointed that it was Rain instead which I know my gay ass would have been there for breathing the same air as that man, so I'm eh on him. B-Joo doesn't do anything on the show but didn't have some suspicious interactions in ToppDogg?

How does Marco ping you? That's surprising to me.

I just looked at my phone and saw the article in Forbes. This is so sad, I'meant thinking about his family, group mates, and all those lives he touched.

Also are there people I can DM if something happens? I'm not at that point yet, and I don't know if I will be, but you never know. I feel so horrible.

You can DM me if you need to, I have depression and anxiety so I can relate and am a good listener. This goes for anyone reading this.

i just woke up, has there been any news on key? i'm really worried about him

I've been thinking about him too mostly because I've barely seen as much concern about him in comparison to Onew and Taeyeon. Regardless of whether they were a couple or not, they were still very close and Key has a history of self-harm (and the constant going out and getting so plastered somebody would have to go get him seemed very similar to Onew's current predicament). I also heard that he locked himself in his room when he found out, which may not be accurate but is totally plausible with his personality. I'm sure somebody in their inner circle is keeping an eye on him, but I'm still antsy.

Honestly the coverage of this has been handled in a way that could really feed into suicide contagion (detailing the method, circulating his suicide note), and given how crappy mental health is addressed pretty much everywhere, but particularly in SK, and how many vulnerable people have been deeply impacted by this, I'm kinda on edge. unsure.png

If your gut instinct says to stay offline to avoid pictures/video, follow it. I'm pretty good at keeping it together with other people's grief, and it was hard to witness, so if you are really raw, exercise self-care and go with your better judgement.

I'm honestly really worried about Key right now, it doesn't look like he's slept in days and he just seems completely broken. Onew and Minho barely look like they're holding it together. I don't even know why I looked at the photos.

I had to close twitter when I saw a picture where you could still see the ring Jonghyun bought him on Key's hand. I use to love looking for that ring in every photo and now it just breaks my heart knowing he (and the rest of Shinee and Jonghyun's family) lost someone so close and important to them.

I could handle the still shots, but the video of them loading the coffin in the hearse and the camera zooms straight into Key so you can see him go from composed to completely broken as they close the door is just devastating. Onew looks so numb and Taeyeon is a mess too.

I'm actually more worried about the other three members than Key especially Taemin and Onew. When you cry a lot you're releasing your grief but when you try so hard to hold it in and act strong that's worse.

From what I witnessed, I'm equally worried about all of them. They all look deeply traumatized. Grieving death under normal circumstances is already long and difficult, but with this, they are going to need A LOT of support.

Ain't even gonna quote but there ain't no such thing as a gay quota but there is a thing called probability. When you are starting to name 2/3 of a group as gay and not just one group but multiple groups, there must be something wrong with your gaydar. This is an industry, you cannot say, I have 6 gay friends out of my friendship pool of 6 people cause well shit sherlock you are the one who picked those friends. I've been with this thread since it was created back in 6theory and still follow it till now just for the photos and nice videos that pop up here and there but rarely post because now a days its just filled with delusional ass people who write 100 page essays on why 11/12 oppas from a group are gay and the 12th is probably bisexual cause he looked at so and so in a certain way. Sometimes people try so hard to be progressive that they are actually being the opposite.

Girl, to determine the probability of something, you need to have stats, and there are no solid statistics on sexuality, especially for the idol population. Idols also self-select into the industry either by auditioning or accepting a street casting offer, they aren't born into this profession at random, so the point you made about an industry being different from a friendship group is moot.

And what person here has said the majority of multiple groups are gay? A bunch of people come here and post opinions on the same handful groups and many of them overlap, but that by no means translates to this thread as a whole, like we're some kind of hivemind, believes that all of BTS, EXO, and whoever else are all gay. It's these gaps in logic around here that are really bringing this thread down.

At the moment, I really have no idea. I personally haven't seen anything suspicious yet. I know he is a very open minded person (well, he is from Canada).

I mean, he is obsessed with Beyonce, but I don't know if being a male fan of Beyonce is similar to male fans of Lady Gaga. As in, a lot of male fans of Lady Gaga are gay, but I have no clue if that 'common recurrence' (for lack of better words lol) is similar to male fans of Beyonce? It's not like that would be a huge sign if that were the case ... just a thought.

He is definitely one of the members I am keeping an eye on.

Oh god, his dark past is being revealed lmao why am I in love with him

It is, Beyonce has A LOT of gay male fans of all races, especially in the U.S./Canada. His Beyonce stanning is what really made him ping for me, because it's not like he just likes her music or has a crush on her, but like he really has a deep appreciation for her work. And Beyonce's work is like the epitome of black womanhood, especially Lemonade, which he said he was really into (and Western gay male culture appropriates heavily from black women). It's not definitive, but I have never met a straight man that into Beyonce like that. He also gets more suspect points for that comment about "Move" challenging gender norms as something he found noteworthy about it. I haven't seen him act suspicious with any guy, but he gives off the vibe like he's a careful person and wants attention to be on his singing and otherwise flies under the radar.

The funniest complaint was that we base all of our speculations on stereotypes, but their go to "oppa is straight" defense is "he's very manly" :imstupid: And they never come in to suggest that the likes of Daehwi or Jo Kwon are straight...

They were really cute

He got on my radar after the My Turn Dance Break competition when he went from "You Got Served" to "Paris Is Burning" in like 5 seconds. (starts at 1:22; for a bonus of Ji Hansol dropping into the splits start at 1:14)

On another note, I watched more clips of The Boyz Kevin and now I'm like 90% sure he's gay and I'm starting to get vibes from Jacob too.
