Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

I don't think a majority of people on the thread thought Tae was gay. Some did sure but some also think bi/pan. I also don't think you can use one instance to say you don't ever know. After all, some idols are as out as they possibly can be ( Key, Jo Kwon etc) so I think it is fair to be certain. The same thing has happened with Hollywood actors. The different is, more of them will actually come out. Also, dating Jennie doesn't mean Tae is straight. Some fans ignore genuine reasons people think he is part of the community and act like it is all delusional shippers which isn't the case.

It's also weird to me when people acknowledge that idols aren't always honest but act like an idol saying they are straight means they are, like there aren't a million reasons why they can't come out.

Of course idols can't come out, but you're forgetting that idols also can't really publicly date. That is amplified in the case of BTS, because of the absolutely insane fandom reaction. If you think about it, it would be more beneficial for Taehyung and Jennie not to reveal their (alleged) relationship at all, as it just implicates them into more drama. Nothing is gained from revealing a romantic relationship in kpop, so why would anyone lie about being in a het relationship? Especially considering how heteronormative Korea is in general, nobody suspects you of being gay if you're single lol

The ones you mentioned had actual dating rumours with men, Taehyung had that one odd interaction with bogum. But all of that could be due to his former cult connection and we are aware now that BTS is very media savvy. Other than that, Taehyung has not had any real evidence where he dated men. He does however have sufficient and tangible evidence he is dating Jennie. Also Bi isn't a trope anyone can use as a last resort option.

What I really find weird is the desperation for a gotcha moment when it comes to BTS members to to stick it to fans on whatever "side" they are on like one is so much better than the other. Both are equally prone to delusional and faulty logic to prove a point. And both project to push their own agenda that really has nothing to do with the idols as people but their own personal baggage around sexuality. Just a never ending cycle of pointing out splinters in other people's eyes when both have opposite ends of the same log lodged in their own. It's tedious, literally only happens around BTS, and drowns out better discourse and new topics. That's my two cents and I'll get off my soapbox.

I think it is a bit different when Taennie has a midnight stroll and others are just saying it is either PR or not real. I mean sometimes a duck is a duck and nothing else to it. I guess that is my take on things

Jennie and Taehyung is hardly a pr stunt. Bts and Blackpink are the only  S-tier.  I do think that they knew that they would be observed and possibly filmed etc but didn’t really care. Bts and Blackpink are beyond Kpop in alot of ways. I feel like they can afford to act like western celebrities unlike most k-pop groups. I personally thought Taehyung was straight  all the time.  It´s unfair to call him pretentious because he likes stuff that are retro but he sorta gives off Timothee Chalamet vibes with his interest. Taehyung likes retro stuff and Hong Kong was the coolest place in Asia in the 90´s so him being a fan of one of the biggest HK actors Leslie Cheung is not really an  indication of his sexuality. I am not dying on a hill with this one but  Taehyung is basically the only Bts members i never wondered about his sexuality for a moment. Meaning he´s never pinged for me.

Now i'm curios what's your opinion on the other bts members or male idols in general except super obvious ones like Jo Kwon, Key, Ten, etc.

For BTS, the only one i strongly believe to be queer is JHope, because i see a lot of similarities of myself in him(interests, passions, super camp friend group, the scene which he comes from, lack of chemistry with women etc.). People don't really talk about him cause he is not one of the popular members.

It's also funny how Jennie dated all guys we though were queer: GD(still think he is bi though), Kai, V.

You mean allegedly? Aka that Haribo crazy on the Internet who was stealing peoples pictures, setting upookalikes/models and editing photos in graphic design apps?

To my knowledge there's been no evidence of any dating for reals between the two. If you mean the Paris pics the jury's still out on that. The Haribo thing was total bs though. I think they're being taken to court for that mess.

We didn't all think he's gay. It's split between people who do, those who think he's on the spectrum somewhere and those who don't. If anyone thinks he's fully gay it's likely because of the constant vibes he gives off, his interests, his output, etc. Add to that his obvious irritation at invented stories on the Internet that he's dating girl banders and CEOs daughters. It's not really because of his dating life because HYBE has managed to keep all that side under wraps for over a decade with him.

Your comment was a wild ride 🤣

It's time to come back down to reality now

I never said that he has to be LGBT, but it is true that people dismiss genuine reasons to think he is. It's more than him liking a bi actor or being "pretentious". I would also never act like being bi is a last resort so I don't know who that comment is aimed at. Bisexuality is very real and I'm not going to suddenly think someone must be straight because they are only seen with the opposite sex. I also never said Jennie and Tae is a publicity stunt. The truth still stands that most idols will never come out. Doesn't stop them existing. Just makes me laugh that some people are using this as a gotcha moment and to try and say it means Tae is straight and that's that.

Obviously bisexuality is real, the problem is that people use it as a coping mechanism when it turns out that their supposedly totally 100% gay oppa has a girlfriend. No idol is ever going to come out as bi, especially if they're in a het relationship already, so if you want you can claim it about anybody and never be proven wrong. It reduces being bi to a sort of tokenism when people can't cope with the fact that their fantasies weren't real rather than an actual identity.

I mean people did think Taehyung is gay for a reason though... due to his connection to CMBYN and demeanor... so I think it's very fair for people to still think he is attracted to men without it being tokenism.

Do bi people get offended by this? I certainly don't

Personally I think It's not as much offensive as it is just strange

After that infamous Celine party almost everyone here thought Taehyung was gay, not even bi, but gay gay.

I don't really want to bring up specific posts because it's not about calling anyone out, but back then I remember replying that just because he's seemingly into men doesn't mean he definitely isn't into women

And now he can't be bi either, because he has to be straight since he's dating Jennie and saying he is bi is just cope

So when idols are thought of as bi it's either gays coping that their fav isn't het or fangirls coping that they still have a chance

Idk, it's so weird to me

No idol has came out as gay so far either, so I guess until the ones that appear single are officially caught in a dating scandal we can all cope together that they're all secretely gay - what a relief!

If Jo Kwon said he was straight, some people would take it as gospel 😂

An idol publicly commenting on their sexuality in any unambiguous way should probably be taken as gospel tbh. If anyone on here is concerned about overreaching, telling an idol that they are wrong about their own sexuality would be where that line is lol

We are all allowed 1 (one) They Could Still Be Bi Get Out of Jail Free card for a male and a female idol each, and guess what, we've all used them up on Keeho and Yubin just now. It's just COPE from here on out for all of us.

I mean, people are closeted, you know? I feel like things are improving these days, but I remember in the past multiple idols who appeared to be very obviously gay saying how they are real Korean men who like women. Even Daehwi is out there saying stuff like that, and you're telling me I'm supposed to listen to that stuff from a guy who released Rose, Scent, Kiss?

I thought this thread had elected Heechul president of the He Could Still Be Bi club years ago, but best of luck to the many new challengers in future elections 🫡

Oh I mean do you and of course people are closeted, but if you’re going to take anything as “gospel” regarding an idol’s sexuality idk who would be more authoritative than the idol themself!

To be honest, CMBYN isnt really well liked in the gay community. It represents all the typical gay tropes ( Young student falling for a older semi teacher) The queer community is huge and perhaps I am wrong. But the one I am in Netherlands don't like that movie and more often than not it is easily well-liked by women. Not so much by the community they were showing. It is also written by Straight married guy using the typical gay stories, that to me is just weird and not right.
