Which male idols do you think are gay?

I can't even imagine a scenario where an idol would be open about their relationships, even the het idols.  LBR, the majority of kpop idol relationships are probably secret from the company until it gets super serious.

Honestly, I don't buy this. Especially their managers literally lives with them and follow them like a shadow.

On the topic of company not encourage or promote a real couple, take Dawn (E-Dawn) and Hyuna as an example. Cube literally make a unit, and heavily promote + include lovey-dovey moments of them on their variety show. I highly doubt that Cube has no idea about them dating for the entire time. Cube was just SO CONFIDENT and never anticipated that Hyuna and Dawn would flat out admitting and overturn their dating denial statement.

The thing is, a company will promote anything that will generate their benefit, as long as they believe either (1) media wont expose them (which is likely for homosexual relationship) or (2) idols wont rebel and admit the relationship once the media expose them (mostly for het one). For all it worth, Hyuna and  Hyun-seung were also heavily rumored to be dating back when they promote together as a duo.

So while it is quite logical to think company will never actively create a ship between real couple in the first place, I don't think a real couple that are also a ship within a group, or between groups are impossible. Also, one important thing to be considered, almost ALL ships eventually got some sort of interventions. We have so many dating news, a ship suddenly grow cold with each other, individual activities with other members.  So just because a ship is so popular, it does not mean there are no chance it is all fan-service and nothing real.

That's true but I think there's the likelihood some are distractions. including from real couplings, or even non-relationship matters. Most fans love to see their favs getting along and being cuddly with each other. It solidifies bonds within groups. At the very least ppl can occupy themselves with the idea that x and x member get along so well that they have future potential. And even potential keeps a lot of people content. It supplies endless fiction/dating scenarios and is a world away from your fav/s hooking up with multiple random people or having a hidden partner. Who might turn out to be more Chefsuke than Chanyeol! 😉

A lot of very clever psychology goes into marketing all this, and even though the homosexual side isn't something that's going to get openly talked about in K-pop, companies know full well it sells among a section of fandom. Implying that inter-group relationships are the norm, without confirming, is one way of keeping people interested and products selling well.

I'm not too cynical on that score though because I certainly think same-sex idols and industry people do fall for each other. They're human. A member that another idol took no notice of may seem a very different proposition with a few years on his back and a five o clock shadow. Entertainment does attract an awful lot of LGBT+ in general because it's creative and also a safe haven (for the most part). It's a great way of meeting fellow LGBT on the downlow. Hookups will go under the radar given that many of the groups live in dorms with onsite facilities. It's not like you have to trek across town with Dispatch tailing you if your man lives on the same floor, two doors down. It's not that I think popular ships couldn't be real. But for me after a long time watching body language I feel confident that some of them are wrong for the 'committed OTP romance' they're trying to either fool people with, or that people just run with regardless.

So Choi Woo-Shik watched Call me by your name. He pinged me before that.

Around 5:05 And then there is a couple shot with Park Seo Joon LOL.

Apparently this movie was pretty popular in SK. They are not the first celebrities who watched it. Or maybe they know it because they are actors idk.

almost like they are invisible even to sasaengs.

This isn't true though. Trust me, some sasaengs definitely know about their idols not being straight. But they don't expose them for a lot of reasons, the most important ones being that they want to protect them in their twisted way and they get a kick out of being the only ones knowing these things. Actual sasaengs don't spread real infos unless they're very angry at an idol. Just a small amount is sold and it circulates only in Korea, China, Japan.

It may be weird but in a way i feel somewhat grateful for their warped values. They're disgusting stalkers but i'm pretty sure that similar obsessive fans in western countries would have no problem to out celebs if they felt deceived.

Trouble is, there's probably a whole new breed of sasaengs joining the ranks now who might not be so selective. Money talks, sadly, and those cats are all hustling like mad. I think it's difficult to define how much stuff (aimed at an idol) has been released in anger and how much hasn't. I definitely see where you're coming from that there's probably a weird honour code among many of the already established sasaengs, who love to brag/hint to outsiders that they have info, but share it only among themselves. But this past week we've had allegations levelled at male idols (including weirdly, Jungwoo of all people) and drones sent up to get non-televised footage of BTS during an In The Soop episode (so probably sasaengs). It seems to be getting more intense out there, rather than better. Who knows what people are capable of if they're fixated enough. It's tragic, and very invasive. 😞

In the west people do go to the media to whinge about hookups that go wrong or some star who ignored a one-night stand and went back to his wife, etc. But there is a lot that goes unpublished due to 1. injunctions and 2. media outlets having exclusive deals with record companies or football clubs. They work hand in glove, a bit like Dispatch does with many of the big K-pop companies. Indiscretions are nipped in the bud before they can get to print and people are paid off. The paps also know there's big money to put their kids through college by selling incriminating photos and video not to the media, but back to the star's agency.

Any thoughts on 2PM?

I am especially curious about Junho because he seemed homophobic. He and other actor won an award for best kiss. They were the only MM couple and it seems that it was mostly for laughs. In an interview he said he felt humiliated by getting kissed on the cheek by a guy. Such fragile masculinity!

On a side note:

This is so funnyXD knowing Kevin. This has the same energy of people shipping Sehun with female idols.

They also talk how some people genuinely believe they were dating and used as evidence the times when they made eye contact during their show.
