It's pretty funny if you follow this kind of stuff on the korean side though (through twitter + forums) because you can see them cycle through each rumor as soon as either the member in question or the 'love interest/supposed girlfriend' does something that could vaguely connect them. Then when they act in a way where there is no connection or they can be connected with another girl these same people will start up rumors with the next or a new person instead. If you hang around long enough this pattern becomes very obvious (every few months a new girl will be added to the roster and another dropped as well, and the rotational system will continue), it's kind of funny. According to some of them the BTS members must be out here living that poly lifestyle (which i mean all the more power to them lmao). 

I don't doubt that some (or even all) members are dating and/or that some of them have girlfriends/a partner, don't get me wrong, i just wouldn't take the rumors as anything but rumors because of the ridiculous nature of them. Also, all the members are getting more and more rumors because they're getting older so people expect them to date (at least sane fans (and antis lol) do). Usually when there are idols that are dating and they get revealed it never is the people others suspected, it almost always feels very random (one exception i can think of is maybe Heechul and Momo, they were very obvious visiting Momo's hometown at the same time during chuseok etc).

I completely agree with you. I meant that rumours about Taehyung just became more frequent and convincing. In my opinion, it's all connected. 

Even if he isn't dating a girl right now, I'm almost 100% sure that he will marry a woman and have two or more kids.

Re; that video posted above. The 'Namjoon secret child rumour' is quite interesting. Pretty much all boybands have waxed lyrical with each other on camera about families and kids. He either has a child, or (possibly most likely) rabbits on about future fatherhood all the time, or they tease him because there's some perceived barrier to him having one, at least in SK. Which may be no more than being in a boyband and not having the same freedoms to openly date and put down roots as in other professions. BTS tease each other mercilessly and sometimes this stuff could well be banter and not that deep. A 'let's make him squirm on camera, hehe' moment? I remember Harry Styles used to rave on about wanting kids and hasn't got one to this day when all most of his less vocal-on-the-subject bandmates started having them years ago. He's also the one who attracts the most gay gossip and is all but in a glass closet.

A few years ago I'd have agreed with people who thought Taehyung would toe the line and marry a woman and have kids to conform. (He and Jimin clearly love children.) But now I'm not so sure. I think he's seen and done the world too much. He's seen life beyond BTS and traditional conservative SK so if he does end up marrying/partnering a woman and having children I believe it'll probably be for genuine reasons, because he wants those things. And if he does it with a man it'll be for the same genuine reasons imo. 

The decks are stacked against any man having a marriage and family with a man in South Korea. But it's a big world out there. (Edit: it's fair to say there will be SK LGBT+ couples living in family units. Only without the legal protection/s and recognition they deserve. It makes life harder but we know it wouldn't rule out a family life with a same-sex partner.)  

I agree about the multi rumours. It's not helped by the number of K-pop Predict type accounts all over Twitter and Curious Cat. There are literally dozens of rumours on any K-pop idol you choose to name. And tons of fans desperately hoping to see attractive men and women paired together at all costs. The maknaes in any group are a prime target for this.

Not necesserely referring to V or someone in particular but i feel that some of us are a bit too categorical with our opinions on things like family and children. Most of the idols we're discussing here are in their early or mid twenties and at their most prolific period work wise. Even if they genuinely want children, i feel that there's still a long time for them to act on it. We also have to remember that Koreans (and especially celebs) tend to marry and form families much later in life than people in other countries and the birthrate there is also very, very low. I'm usually a pessimistic person but the world is changing fast and a lot of things can happen to the Korean LGBT community in a decade or two. I recently read somewhere a very touching story about a Chinese lesbian couple fighting for the recognition of their children and it gave me a bit of hope that things will get better and not worse in Asia.

And my opinion will surely be unpopular but i've personally always felt that V was gay. Not bi or pan but actually gay. I don't discard the possibility of him marrying a woman and founding a family with her though, he seems very traditional and close to his parents.

On another note, the rumor about RM having a secret child is wild... Where does this came from ? Tbh, i don't believe it at all. Sometimes i feel that since BTS is a pretty free scandal group in terms of dating, netizens invent the most ridiculous rumors to generate attention.

I tend not to outright discount anything, because we just cannot know for sure. But I think it started with the baby booties he said he was collecting on a V Live. Plus the refs to fatherhood in interview. 

Then there's V musing out loud about children and the attention switches to RM. But it might be nothing more than he was just talking about it beforehand and was being teased on cue. Or they feel obliged to play to a certain audience at times. Or V just likes the idea of kids. 

We all know that aside from the cardinal sin of daring to be LGBTQ in k-pop, the next gravest act is having a child and failing to communicate it to your fans. Even though you owe no-one this. Having tons of people all crying and protesting your company's offices because somehow you royally deceived thousands of women and girls that you were going to stay pure for all of them forever. 

If RM does have a child, unlikely but not impossible, then he's on about as risky ground as it gets, and it's doubtful they'd even make jokes to draw attention to it. 

I also think some of the girlfriend rumours are put out purposefully to distract from things which shouldn't, but could, easily bring down idols in SK due to them being a harder K-societal no no. The whole RM baby thing could be distracting from something else which BH doesn't want in Dispatch, etc. A few weeks ago some people had convinced themselves RM had a mystery boyfriend. This week he's a straight family man again. It's quite easy to play all sides of fandoms when most people just want the best for the boys. 

The good ones to watch are Yoongi and Jin imo. Yoongi's spontaneous closed mouth grimaces and lack of joining in at times tells me there could be hidden stuff going on in the group. Jungkook's reactions are also good because he tends to remain calm where eg J-Hope bursts out with the nervous laughter.

honestly he is painfully obvious if you watch him interact with both of them + chenle teasing him about it which makes it even more obvious

ex. trying to find ways to hug, hold hands and putting his face really close to theirs

A bit random but how soon do you think an idol will come out? International idols have their countries they can escape to if everything turns to shit

idols that are not..well

or i can see an idol coming out when they're 45 and no one cares about them

or an idol that completely leaves the idol scene and opts for regular life coming out

i just do not see an active idol coming out

it is career suicide

My friend likes nomin but mostly because they look adorable together but she thinks JM is straight, just comfotable being touchy with his members (pretty similar to what people have said in this thread). With JN, his constant heart eyes at the members makes it looks like he's soooo in love with them and he just loves holding hand, I guess? I saw a lot of videos where he just "accidentally" held hands with the others. 

Edit: Woa, I just watched the videos from the thread and JN is obvious  (just thought it'd be videos of over-analyzing but it wasn't).

I think it will take at least 10 years until someone will come out on their own. I also think the first popular idol to come out will be forced out of the closet (like something will get leaked, like text messages, videos, photos, voice recordings etc). I'm kinda scared of it but if nobody wants to do the first step (not even Jo Kwon), it will happen eventually and that's gonna be the first popular idol to come out then.

I don't follow NCT closely so I don't really have an opinion, but I disagree with the logic that an LGBT+ person wouldn't be that over the top, or that everyone who is big on fanservice is consequently straight. I think it basically depends on their personality, and to a lesser degree how comfortable they are with their sexuality. At the end of the day, kpop is like heaven for a closeted person, they can do whatever they want and everyone will blame it on the fanservice, no one will point a threatening finger at them like it could happen in real life. 

As for the coming out question, I don't think anyone will come out voluntarily in the next years/few decades. Many idols would be able to handle a coming out in terms of popularity, especially from groups with a big western fanbase, but doing so would inevitably cause the company to lose money, so there is no way they would allow it. I could see something getting leaked, but even in that scenario it would be easy to dismiss (like Jo Kwon's messages with another idol, earlier in their careers). What I think will happen in the next few years is that we'll probably get more glass closet situations, Jo Kwon's style.

This is what I had thought of initially but I don't think this case can be implied. To relate, I would say being closeted in the kpop industry is like being closeted in the society. Many LGBT+ individuals from what I had seen from "acted" straight in fear of being ousted to the public and what more in the kpop scene. They cant simply blame it on fanservice everytime as there will always be a chance of slipping up when they are too indulgent with their acts. Not only that, speculations from shippers & eyes of the public will definitely progressively arise and being closeted will definitely not give that sense of security where you will not be ousted and hence, there will definitely be a change of behavior, fanservice/skinship which results in restricted movements. Not to mention the presence of s*s*engs too. Hence, let me reiterate that being closeted in the kpop scene is definitely not as seemingly easy as they look as it doesn't give a form of security where you would not be ousted to the public easily.

The people who think wanting/liking kids is a straights only club remind me of those still walking around lauding the 'anti-capitalist kings' in K-pop. Kings who are quite happy to plug overpriced luxury chairs, cars, phones and branded food/drink at everyone, alongside a shit-ton of merch, often consisting of bits of plastic and rubber that nobody really needs. 

In k-pop I feel like we're years behind other parts of the world for understanding LGBT+. It's probably just lack of education and people's general concept of LGBT+ as being another species, driven by sex. I see many people out there still using sex acts to define LGBT+, not love, family or children. I always keep an open mind and so Taehyung, for all his LGBT overtures, may very well confound everyone by not marrying Timothee Chalamet, and living a happy hetero life. Though she'd better be prepared to fall into line with Sam Smith, berets/silk scarves, and that other great brute of toxic machismo, Paris. Girl, you've been warned.

Changbin raised eyebrows with his early antics with Felix. I think the concensus during 'Changlix' was Felix was more into it than Changbin. But since then I've seen Changbin's name crop up on and off, so he's on my radar a little bit. But I haven't seen any recent stuff on him. I just know the friendship cooled off with Felix, but then that could have been a company ship anyway.

I think you raise some excellent points. I have no doubt that some of the names that would come up as being bi or pan, not even full gay, would shock people. Due to there being idols who 1. won't pander to skinship games that could draw attention to themselves 2. act so neutral or straight that people expecting flamboyance, signs or receipts just wouldn't imagine them being interested in males because there's nothing to openly report. 

Then you get more expressive idols who are so het in reality that they can gay it up and not care because they are confident and are never going to be seriously compromised or threatened. They really confuse people. And then the actual non-hets who gay it up because they kinda sorta want to out themselves and be authentic. They can only do so much of the contractual obligation stuff before blowing off some steam. 

It must be really awkward being a male idol trainee that comes in at 15, 16, and 10 years later, still gets proudly judged by fans on his school girlfriend pictures when everyone had a bowl cut hairdo and thick eyebrows. Even though in 10 years some people's sexuality can change dramatically.
