Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

I'm the totally straight MC watching twink king Hongbin in this clip:

Thoughts on Hongbin?

imo hongbin is probably the straightest person in vixx :-/

out of all the members, him and leo have said the most "no homo" type of comments. plus hongbin is a very traditional guy and has often stated that he wants to get married.

nonetheless, this was iconic:

idk man... i still think siwon is a really sad closet case

like i'm not saying this to justify what he's said and done in any way. in fact, even if he is gay and his homophobia is just internalized, i still lowkey resent him for using his influence as a celebrity to spread hate.

since we're on the topic of kookie tonight lemme just bring back my all time favorite moment of his

tumblr_omulmmjSEy1shsf8lo4_400.giftumblr_omulmmjSEy1shsf8lo3_400.gif

what an extremely heterosexual reaction to seeing two dudes kissing imstupid.png  i know he's like 15 here but i think that just makes it all the more convincing, since acting "straight" is usually something we learn when growing into adulthood.

i'm slowly falling down the rabbithole that is bts AGAIN, and i can't help but notice that taehyung seems awfully quiet and sad most of the time.... it's like he's become very distant from the other members.

idk if it has anything to do with him being gay (which i am 100% certain of) but he never initiates skinship anymore and when the other members do it, it kinda seems like he's pulling away. i know i do the same thing with my straight friends, even ones that i'm out to, just because i feel guilty/ashamed/scared they're gonna take it the wrong way.

am i the only one noticing this?

I don't necessarily think he's pulling away from the other members. I said in my last post that he and Yoongi have gotten really close since Hawaii. Yoongi wore their friendship necklace to the US, they've been sporting matching blue rings at the award shows, Yoongi went shopping with Tae despite hating shopping, Yoongi wearing Tae's Gucci headband during an award show performance this week, etc. Their interactions on Ru when they're partnered up are significantly different from what they were pre-Hawaii.

He did seem down for a little bit but remember that was around the time a childhood friend of his committed suicide. I expect that was a hard time for him. He seemed better during their US promos and at the award shows this week.

I have noticed a lack of skinship lately. Which I agree could mean that he came out to his members and now that has changed his personal comfort label being physically affectionate with them. Especially if he just recently came out to them (which I think seems likely) that it may take some time until that comfort level is back with touching.

omg i had no idea about his childhood friend warstarplz.png  that explains a lot actually... thank for letting me on! i've also lost a friend to suicide so i know how the grief takes it's toll on you, both mentally and physically.

i've also noticed him and yoongi seem a lot closer now, which could potentially fit perfectly into my theory (warning: tinfoil hat level delusion incoming) about how those two are the only SELF AWARE queer members of bts. not excluding the possibility of any other members being attracted to men, but yoongi and taehyung seems to be the only ones where their gayness is an integral part of their identities and their lives. so imo they've probably bonded over some shared experiences and feelings.

on a sidenote i'm loving their recent handholding antics chuplz.png

thinking about it, yoongi is the only member i've seen tae doing any kind of skinship with (aside from staged fanservice) recently.

3. namjoon/jungkook?? idk not sure

5. jimin

6. seokjin

7. hoseok

kinda hard to rank them tho when they're genuinely one of the most 'pinging' groups i've seen lmaooooo

thank god at least someone else has their third eye open and sees the truth

i think junhui and minghao are respectively the gayest and the straightest members of seventeen (the duality of china line lol) so it's weird to me that they're also one of the most popular ships.

like just watch this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2ZCW9U4WBA

jun has seen the face of god

15534914_693372124171415_246636639399444

the way jun is gushing about how sexy wonho is and what a great boyfriend he would be (i'm here for this ship) and then you have minghao vehemently denying any agreement

i get that minghao might just dislike skinship in general but it's pretty extra of him to reject it so adamantly when it comes to jun... their relationship just seems extremely one sided to me.

anyways have some more gay jun!! hoplz.png

i wouldn't be surprised if him and his co-star had something going on, judging from these behind the scenes clips

and this â†‘ is why i kinda roll my eyes at how jun always gets the "bi" label in this thread for some reason 0u0plz.png

it's something i have talked about before: masculine looking guys always get automatically labeled as bi here, even if they've never shown any interest in girls. i know a great deal of the posters here are bi girls and yall should really examine the way you might be either projecting or using wishful thinking when analyzing these men.

i think part of it is that minghao 1. is pretty prickly of a person 2. was never all that close to jun to begin with. he was kind of forced into the position of having jun as his only ally due to the language barrier—which was one sided on his part, since jun's korean had much more practice by the time minghao joined. i think they were never that close of friends, which is why minghao seemed to be on the defensive when jun tried skinship, while at the same time minghao is much more comfortable doing fanservice with mingyu (his self-proclaimed best friend) and vernon (who he's also very close with). i do think he's very straight, but i'm not sure his discomfort is related to jun's sexuality when mingyu is just as up there & minghao's chill with that

also spill that tea!! ppl always tryna say jun (and also gay legend kim mingyu) are bi, because they aren't lithe or twinky enough & generally fit more into male beauty standards. there's a reason why ppl are fine calling seungkwan gay but when u bring up the other two there's always pushback

oh that makes sense! i was wondering why he seems fine doing skinship with equally gay mingyu but your explanation does make a lot of sense. i've always thought junhao seems awfully forced, both by the company and by fans, and so i can totally understand minghao's frustration. jun to me seems a lot closer with wonwoo and jeonghan, while minghao, like you said, is closer with vernon and mingyu. which is why i find it weird that everybody insists that the two of them are best friends 4 lyfe, boyfriends and soulmates etc.

yes god lmao! i swear some of the people here have no real life interaction with gay men whatsoever, or at least not a very broad or nuanced spectrum. because newsflash: masc4masc guys make up a pretty decent portion of the gay community. not every gay guy is gonna look like choi minki and act like jo kwon for fucks sake... anyone who thinks that have obviously let their perception be shaped a little too much by fanfics. 0u0plz.png

sorry for dragging this out, it's just too funny to let go! hurrplz.png

can you believe that busan, the second highest populated province of korea, with over 3 and a half million inhabitants, is completely extinct of any lgbt people??? it's truly a mystery how this came to be imstupid.png tumblr_p0qxorLMR81uwadswo1_1280.png

this kinda reminds me of how that chechen leader claims that gay people literally do not exist nor have EVER existed in chechenya (after years of systematically hunting down and executing gay people...) like LMFAO what kinda logic? 0u0plz.png

tumblr_owkb8xC2G61uwadswo1_400.gif

but since we're on the topic of geographic affiliation, i definitely think there's something interesting to be said about it in relation to lgbt issues.

lets look at a site called the geography of hate which maps out the concentration of homophobic sentiment across the us. it shouldn't come as a big surprise to anyone that the southern states are generally the most hateful.

this phenomenon isn't exclusive to usa either. you can just google "rural homophobia" and you'll find thousands of academic research papers and autobiographies about how difficult it is to grow up gay in a rural place. conservative ideas are generally way more prominent in the countryside.

i can attest to that from my own experience. even in norway, which is considered to be one of the most progressive countries in the world, it's definitely not easy growing up gay in a small town. i've personally seen the isolation and the hatred bring kids to take their own lives, and i've felt that same hopelessness and loneliness almost kill me.

there's a reason most queer people flee to big cities as soon as we have the chance. this is why i suspect there are more lgbt people among idols than the general public. especially for kids from small towns who want nothing more than to get out, the kpop industry gives them that exact opportunity, since almost every entertainment company is in seoul.

Well op claimed they weren't Meaning It Like That rolleyes.gif so this is moot... but yeah, this is a very good point. This same phenomenon is also known to happen where I live with our booming music and movie industry, with more people going to the city to try their luck at these jobs. In Korea, where the idol industry is saturated beyond belief, this is even more likely to happen, with people becoming mua for idols or trainees themselves just in the hope of getting their big break. I don't doubt that the scene also offers more chances to date people of the same gender, but I'd also point out that they literally wouldn't get the time to. For some people though, that's preferable to being married off, lol.

yeah i didn't mean that their main objective in moving away and trying their luck as idols was to hook up (though that's probably a plus), but literally just to get out.

being stuck in a conservative small town when you're gay can feel extremely suffocating. i literally chose my major when i was 15 (specializing starts really early here) just so that i would HAVE TO move away from my family to study, since the local schools didn't give that option. i knew that if i stayed i'd probably kill myself.

and it worked. just by moving to a bigger city and living with other teenagers, i felt an enourmous weight lifted off my shoulders. the overall attitude towards homosexuality was so different that it drastically changed my self esteem. by living away from my parents (much like these idols) i could also explore my sexuality in a safe enviorment.

getting out of the expectations of marriage and filial duty is of course another big plus for idols.

(Possible shippy stuff, Jeno and Jaemin from the most recent nct vlive)

posting about the dreamies always feels a bit weird, but these two ping me so hard. i know a lot of people will probably brush their skinship off as them just being young, but both of them are 17, it's not like they're 13 anymore... idk if there's anything there but it's still cute to see them act so lovey dovey

the way they were sitting when mark filmed them is really cute too (from 0:50)

I still think that's a consequence of how homosexuality is portrayed as something inherently sexual and not innocent which is sad. For example even when Bieber was clearly younger than him, people had no real problem discussing his crushes and why should they? An innocent crush is an innocent crush. But yes they both ping me as well even individually.

Also can you please put your reply in spoilers? This particular topic is somewhat shippy so it's probably best.

oh definitely ohdearplz.png  the sexualization of gayness and the reluctance to believe minors could possibly be anything but straight is something i myself have been vocal about (both in this thread and irl), but i still catch myself slipping from time to time. i realized i was gay when i was like 11, so it's kinda ironic in a sad way that i feel weird speculating about underage idols being gay.

but yeah i don't think jaemin and jeno are actually dating, in fact i'm pretty sceptical of any ships within the same group, but they are the most suspect nct dream members imo, so i find their interactions interesting.

I disagree, not because I don't think Jimin is gay or that I think that it was fanservice, but because I don't think his affection was a result of romantic feelings. At the time of these photos and gifs, Jungkook was only 15 or 16, while Jimin was 17-18. If you watch Bts videos from early on you'll see how doting the rest of the group is of Jungkook because he was just so young. Jimin has a little brother who is Jungkook's age, and has mentioned several times how much he misses him. Its pretty clear to me at least, that Jimin latched onto Jungkook as a little brother figure and that's where all this affectionate behavior comes from. I actually think its much more likely that the opposite is true, stuff like the video Jungkook filmed with Jimin in Tokyo make me think that its actually Jungkook that might have a crush on Jimin, while Jimin probably still sees him as a little brother, although that's still just a theory.

this is SO on point thank you! i mean, jimin has literally said outright that jungkook reminds him of his little brother. people equating that brotherly affection to romantic/sexual feelings is just.....weird imo.

By that logic...Jungkook called all of them his brothers in Begin lmao. I'm not even going to count the amount of times I've seen that "just like a little sibling" trope used in kdramas and asian romance movies. Let's not take those particular words at facevalue.

first off, there's a difference between calling someone "brother" and "hyung" and actually comparing them to your real life biological little brother that you've grown up with.

that said, i DO take jungkook's words at face value too. jungkook was so young when he first came to seoul, and he was a long way from home. the other boys took him under their wing and more or less raised him from he was like 14 untill now. how would it not make sense for him to see them as his family?

but lmaooooo at you bringing in drama tropes imstupid.png  someone's read one too many fanfics

Yoongi really is such an icon ugh...this is the reason he's my bias. The way he just shot down that interviewer...legend!

tumblr_on368cxLux1u6n38po1_250.gif

Also I read some parts from the rest of the interview and it's clear that in terms of social and political issues, he's the most outspoken and opinionated member, and he's clearly a big supporter of social change and people protesting for what is right. Anticipate Yoongi x Namjoon sub-unit dave.png

we already knew yoongi was #Woke but it's nice to see him actually get the opportunity to talk about the things that are important to him rlytearpls.png

Oh I completely agree that Jungkook sees them as his family. That's why I don't like people pushing older BTS member ships on him - like, ffs Seokjin used to drive him to school. But that being said: Taehyung and Jimin are only two years older than him, and secondly, have you grown up in an Asian society because...just asking...I'm pretty sure the absolute easiest blind for someone you have a crush on is "like a sister/brother to me/like my own sister/brother". Not even talking about gay relationships specifically, since out here you're looked at askance for having any kind of affair at all outside of marriage unless you're a bit older. As in, not a teenager.

All I mentioned was that Jimin used the easiest way out - that he has a same aged brother. It could be a coincidence, it could be exactly what you said, but there's no way to know for sure lmao. If you want to insult someone for saying their mind though, go right ahead.

i didn't mean to insult you, but i realize the fanfic part came off as a personal attack, so sorry about that. i just thought it was really random to say "this happens all the time in asian dramas" as proof that it would be the same case with jikook.

anyways lets just agree to disagree and move on.

i know someone just got (rightfully) dragged for posting that "jaeyong" birthday kiss, and i don't wanna make this into another shipping debate, but i'm taking my chances lol

"it's been a long time since i received a kiss from taeyong hyung" + the fact that jaehyun was visibly flustered... inch resting 👀

this is a cool compilation of some of bts' more suspect moments enjoy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLI6fVl7ZRk

i'm fucking LOSING it at 1:36 sdbfgdghfgf namjoon please imstupid.png

i still think taehyung (gay), yoongi (bi) and namjoon (bi) are the only members who like men, but all of them have enough suspicious moments for you to make a point about them being somewhere on the kinsey scale, so make up your own mind.
