So even though i've posted this screen cap before from (IKON's MEGAZINE INTERVIEW) i wanted to bring it up again!! because though i have a lot of korean friends.. i became very close with korean foreign exchange students. we were on the topic of KPOP! so i pointed the situation on SKINSHIP and things!! to which he and she said to me!! Yeah kpop idols over exaggerate their skipship... They make it seem like all boys in korea touch each other like that.. The truth is though it is common for hugs. linking arm's etc.. is not common for touching private areas ETC. unless of course you're gay.. I asked them! weather kpop fan girls usually have suspicions of any gay idols.. and they told me yeah but korean fan girls are loyal. and even if they talk about gay members with eachother...they will always shield it! to not ruin their favorite groups reputation. They started talking to me about their younger sister.. who's an IKON fan (i was shocked at what they asked their sister when they called her.. Apparently B.I and JINHWAN and JUNHOE are the ones who'm among the IKON fan (SOME ofcourse) are pinged or thought to be maybe Bisexual/gay.. which is why i'm bringing this magazine interview up again.. of bobby pretty much calling out B.I(hanbin) as gay/bi (in my eyes and in my korean friends eyes i showed them this magazine interview) and he said to me well there isn't much explanation a straight guy even in korea wouldn't go touching guys DANGER AREA!! we talked about the topics of closeted idols among other things for literally almost 3 hours!! also it seems like bobby knows!! I think lack of understanding of those cultural differences causes a lot of the problems when we talk about idols' sexualities. Some people who aren't familiar with Korean skinship can interpret something friendly as flirting, while others handwave everything as "just the way friends act in Korea" when...no, actually. The thing is, people just don't know where that line is. Also, speaking of IKON: (X) yes which is the reason why i asked traditional koreans rather than koreans born in america.. my friends are only hear for a year since their foreign exchange students and they leave next month.. so that's why i asked. i also realize that a lot of people use the excuse that it's just fan service. but my friend said. fan service in korea is basically. A HUG to their fans. or letting their fan touch their face. or things like that.. it isn't fan service to touch eachother on stage meaning an idol with another idol. it seems like a lot of foreign fans have it wrong. including me.!! yes. we talked a lot more. including female double standards and such!! and other groups. i love talking to their sister.. cause she's a fan girl.. those who show up to music shows and such.. and she gave me some names on who she believed were gay and such.. oh also.. basically if you're not allowed to do it in front of your mother is inappropriate and in korean culture even those skipship among same sex is normal. touching you're private area is not. and just like america a straight guy wouldn't touch another guys penis!! . he told me his mom does't like it when his friends spank his ass...!! I wonder though how it's so normalized in kpop though, if it wouldn't be considered normal (or would be considered gay) among non-idols. How can they get away with the things they do and not have people suspicious about their sexuality? Also, there have been certain comments on this by idols that I thought were interesting. There was this conversation from IKON: Donghyuk's answer seems to be saying that young guys in Korea are more comfortable with skinship, so...is it just a kpop thing? i actually posted these screen caps and you missed the other part. where bobby and donghyuk pretty much call out B.I saying he likes to touch them in their private Areas (penis) how many straight guys touch guys down there no matter how close you are!! and i also posted another post. about how not all koreans men are ok with skinship men on men! tho they make it seem like it's the norm!! (A blessing itself for me bc I like Donghyuk and Jinhwan a lot~) Anyways, today, goodness, Hanbin sometimes really is the king of mixed signals? Sits in front of Jinhwan, who decides he is Ratatouille and then proceeds to play with Hanbins hair for minutes and he doesn't seem disturbed by it at all. Mind you, Jinhwan had a stuffed dog or sth in his lap and Hanbin was snuggling on the floor between his legs. Ah kids these days... was just funny to see bc most of the VApp Junhoe sat there not saying or doing much and then he interject so very suddenly~ (not sure how familiar everyone here is with iKON, I am also not THAT up to date anymore with them but afaik Jinhwan & Junhoe are kinda close and a fan-favorite ship? Can anyone confirm or deny this?) For Hanbin, dude then went on to seek Bobby out after he joined, craning his neck and throwing smiles and also trying to find his knee to stroke it. Several times. ( i can't remember the name) but i guess they ended the take with giving each other kisses on the cheek and than Seungyoon uploaded it to his instagram and posted the caption ..
