I really wish we could see more films or even dramas about LGBT themes and featuring LGBT characters in Korea, I feel like this would be far more beneficial than lots of BLs. The latter always strike me as being targeted at a particular audience and I really don’t think it’s what should be aimed for. We’ve had some for sure like The Handmaiden which is a phenomenal film and Night Flight (which while heavy and depressing,  is also hard hitting). Love With Flaws is a drama which really stood out to me cause it handled one of the main character’s homosexuality and his storyline so well that it was refreshing to say the least. Content such as these should be sought after rather than BLs which I believe don’t really serve any purpose other than fulfilling the wishes of the aforementioned particular audience and I really doubt will influence much beyond that. What I mean here, is in a conservative society like South Korea where LGBTQ visibility in media is minimal at best I think it’s important for any films or dramas including characters who aren’t straight to normalise the community and say “we are here too,” as well as of course providing representation for gay Koreans to see people like them in a positive light. That said I have seen some BL, however for me (a gay man) they are often missing something and I imagine many others may feel the same way. This is why the genre never appealed that much to me.

It is interesting, I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this but I’ve never thought Kai was straight. Yes he has had public relationships with women however that doesn’t mean he can’t be part of the lgbtq community. It’s impossible to prove anything about these idols, but it’s the strongest feeling that I get whenever I watch any content with him.

I saw someone mentioned the group OnlyOneOf recently regarding their upcoming comeback. Well I hadn’t listened to them before and when I checked them out I noticed one of their covers from unknown art pop 2.1 features a poster from the movie Happy Together, it’s a famous Hong Kong movie about a gay couple. Just a curious observation.

I honestly don’t get it with the down voting, I guess people just can’t handle that others might not have the same opinion as them. I know I don’t agree with everything I see on here, I doubt any of us do. But simply having different thoughts isn’t enough to justify clowning.

Said it before and I’m gonna say it again, Sehun answering no is not a definitive “he’s straight, end of conversation” moment. “But it’s his own words” - yes and he is an idol with a contract, a career and image to uphold. I can’t take it seriously when he’s said and done so many things in the past to contradict it. I’m sure nearly gay person on earth has answered no to that question at some stage in their life for all sorts of reasons (myself included, and I live in a progressive European country) and Sehun is a highly visible public figure in a conservative country whose entertainment industry promotes a fan culture that demonises idols for the slightest mishaps. Likewise he has truckloads of fangirls waiting to defend him against “malicious” rumours. It’s not that hard to grasp.

Right. So I also firmly believe Taeyong is gay, and therefore I’m not arguing your point with this. But I agree with what @Dont mind me suggested. Alternatively, if it is really bugging you that much you can use the search function to read more about what others have already said because there’s quite a substantial amount on content related to him on here. There’s even a whole NCT master list naturally including receipts for Taeyong. You’ll also find many of the links you are sharing have been mentioned before too. But if you still insist on posting links then at least put future ones within spoilers as it’s far easier to go through them if there’s some sort of format rather than scattered posting.

I think it really depends, if the idol watching it in question has done or said many other things that would suggest they’re not straight I would say it’s definitely a hint. If they haven’t then I’d have some reservations.

I definitely agree with this point, and I mean, not to look at this from a biased perspective or anything but it’s Halsey too, a very proud bisexual woman who has never tried to hide from identifying as such. It would make a lot of sense for him to feel connected with or comfortable around her while living in such a conservative society. 
 

Speaking of Jaejoong I haven’t seen or read anything about him for months…has anything notable happened with him recently that’s worth knowing about?

To be honest there’s still something that makes me unable to shake the thought that Kai isn’t as straight as most people think. I really can’t pinpoint it, maybe it’s his friendship group, or the vast difference between his on and off stage personality or it could be more. To me, there are only 3 ways of explaination for why Taehyung is so into LGBTQ+ stuff on a very extreme and personal level

1. There is clearly at least 1 gay person who is very very close to him. 

2. He is gay and desperately throwing hints. 

3. He is both gay and close to someone who is gay. 

My vote is for number three haha. But yes seriously there are many scenes in the movie he could have mentioned but to specifically choose that one where Elio’s father is explicitly giving him his support is extremely meaningful if you ask me.

Feedback? Ok, this is a thread speculating which idols could be gay. Nobody is here to see multiple vague videos aimed at stating how he might be into girls, there is enough of that everywhere else.

I second this and it’s been my opinion for quite a while now. Before I may have had other ideas but I’m content in this thinking. If we include the former members I think Tao is gay and Luhan straight.
