Which male idols do you think are gay?

I see a lot of similar posts on tt, it has become somehow a common vocabulary of fans, shippers and/or LGBTQ+.

I'm just a bit worried that they are kinda fetishizing/romanticizing "gayness". But I also think that being a lot more open and talking about it like it's a normal thing is very progressive and helps make people feel included :) K-pop is so different from what it was 5 years ago. It's crazy.

Way from Crayon Pop recently did an interview with DKDKTV and she mentioned idols liking the same sex. She basically says that idols don't reveal that they drink, date, and like the same sex because because of fear of rumours and also because their companies force them to (nothing new). She also says that it's nothing to feel guilty about and idols should be honest. Way seems like an awesome person. I definitely recommend watching this entire interview.

Around 29:40

In my opinion, it used to be fun and entertaining to use those terms on the low and in memes. But it is getting out of control. Idols actually know what is being said about them on Twitter so it is not cool to throw that around ALL the time.

So like I don't think people shouldn't talk about it ever but I do feel like companies might cause problems because of them (like telling a "ship" to relax). Idk. It's a very complex topic.

For any Ateez fans, how do you feel about Woosan (Wooyoung and San)? A lot of people seem to "ship" them together.

I know someone mentioned Yeosang from Ateez here before. I don't usually get anything from the kid but him and Seongwha were doing a segment where they had to compliment one another and his ears got really red lmao. Doesn't mean anything but it also doesn't not mean anything.

Starts at 1:46

what a reach lmao. if that was the case, we'd see multiple male idols coming out as bi or gay after their military service.

Plus, I don't know if V could come up due to him wanting to stay and live in Korea.

An interesting note, Jungkook asked Taehyung three times, in three different countries (Hawaii, Malta and New York), how he felt about living there.

Oh lmao I forgot about that. I just remember him saying that there's no place like Korea. Please let me know if I'm confusing him with someone else!

Tae and Jungkook have one of my favourite relationships in k-pop. I wish them all the best after their idol lives are over.

Yes, all members always say that Korea is the best. But Jungkook and Taehyung seem to be evaluating the places they've been going to over the past few years. Because their families and friends are there, their first choice will always be their own country, but they can live in other countries if they want to. :)

I really do hope they don't stay in Korea if they don't want to. I can see Jungkook living his best life in the States.

Did anyone see those news of the trans lady that was kicked out of the military? 😞

Will edit with link if I find it.

I always wonder what Ten’s experience was like for example, coming from Thailand and then arriving in a Korea.

My heart aches for them.

57% find homosexuality unacceptable 😞

Definitely recommend reading the article.

"On the one hand it looks like the industry is very open minded to shipping culture," she told CNN, referring to the culture among fans of imagining relationships between their favorite stars -- including gay relationships. "On the other hand, they're not that much ... If you come out, your fans will be so infuriated."

Last summer I was sitting next to a Korean shipper fansite at a BTS concert. I asked her if she would support them if they were to come out as a gay couple. She became silent, changed face and shook her head no. That was a woman that looked in her 40s, watching 2 males in their 20s continuously, like a hawk, and recording them with a high professional camera all the time. But it was supposed to be OK because as she explained to me, it is their culture lmao.

The majority of shippers are way younger than the woman I met but I am also sure, that most have the same homophobic and fetishist mentality.

 BIG OOOOOF

I really dislike shipping culture.

Wait, Ten called himself a TOP?!

When has he ever been a top? I've always seen him as a power bottom.

It's almost as he can be both or do men in gay relationships stick to one position forever?

Well I've always stuck to my position. But maybe that's just me?

There's definitely exceptions lol I did read somewhere that most couples do switch (may or not be accurate).

Fangirl logic: if he can’t marry me, let him marry the one I ship him with.

🤮🤮

Jimin seems to be a big fan of Usher..

Jimin and black men: a novel.

Edit: I wonder how much BTS has changed (or not) after being exposed to so much of the Western culture. Like Halsey's performance at the BBMAs, Lil Nas X, singers swearing left and right, etc...

Also can't believe my dumb ass used to think Jimin is straight.

We love a consistent man 😂

Also bless V (his stylists). I really enjoy idols not caring about gender norms.

I think losing his grandparents and then his close friend really affected Taehyung and made him mature even if he didn't want to. And I think there are people who try to use him based on his last words, so he keeps his friend circle small and does not try to approach people like before. All this can affect even a very extroverted person like him. I think he looks happier, more open and sincere lately. I think he started to understand and leave things behind. I never thought he had the intention to change his gender, but it is clear that he have a little feminine side. Just like Jungkook, Jin and Jimin.

TBF I am a strong believer that gender is a social construct and doesn't actually exist. Breaks my heart that people think they should be the opposite sex to be able to date who they are really attracted to and to wear what they really want to. Tae has been defying gender norms in some ways and it's wonderful.

I-ARMYs are getting desperate for them to publicly date women I think.

They think they want BTS to date UNTIL they do and suddenly x is not good enough for them, x doesn't deserve to date a member of BTS, etc...

I highly doubt they will ever say they are dating someone unless they are about to get married. BTS/BIGHIT might be progressive in some ways but they aren't dumb.
