Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

Actually I can see Daehwi being OK with being gay tbh. Otherwise he wouldn't be so open about his affection. (Basically the opposite of Jihoon.)

ok this is kind of off topic and its no shade, but i thought my laptop was lagging when i was scrolling up because you literally posted 4 times in a row lol

I've been reading this thread for years, and as a retired professional dancer from Los Angeles (I spent 20 years in the entertainment industry first as a dancer, then choreographer/director) I find some of the posts amusing. I came to kpop around 2006 or so and soon discovered my gayday was ringing off the hook. You must understand, I came out in 1977 when the entertainment industry was about as closeted as South Korea is today, it's very similar. Regular back-up dancers back then didn't have to worry about being in the closet, this area of the business was always out and vocal...but it was fun to find out dirt about performers to see if we were right (today you call it receipts..we called it 'getting the dirt')

When I was a dance teacher, I have been able to spot students would would eventually come out as gay..and this was when they were 8 years old. I would run into them years later and they would introduce me to boyfriends....so my gaydar is pretty well defined. I may, from time to time, share. I know my gaydar is pretty good because I set up a major Hollywood movie star with his first boyfriend..and this star is STILL in the closet. That's his right...I will not divulge who it is.

For me, having worked in front and behind camera, I know when things are staged, and when I should pay attention. Normally what catches my eye is not what is said, but how something is expressed. I watch closely for certain mannerisms. Those who wish to ship people within the same group is a fun fantasy, but I doubt it is ever real. As a professional, you don't have sex with cast members, too much drama. You do, however, date other performers outside your group.

Anyway, if you wish, I'll try and post my list of who I think is gay or not. You should know that being Gay has little to do with sex partners....but it DOES have a lot to do with who you can romantically fall in love.

That's all for now.

I'm not a regular in this thread, I just drop in about once every few weeks or so to get some entertainment. But I'm a little embarrassed that you had to read some of the things that have been and still are being posted here lol.

with all due respect, i think you should all refrain from speculating about jonghyun's sexuality at this point in time and things like whether or not he "came out in his will". to me it's disrespectful and inappropriate. the man died, let him be. you can make your speculations later....

I would reiterate what I said, but I honestly don't have the energy. I really don't think anyone would be complaining/saying anything at all if we were talking about how straight he was and the girlfriend he left behind. I'll leave it at that. But whatever. The first celebrity I ever loved just died on my birthday. Say whatever you will.

Look, now is definitely not the time for in-depth discussion and receipts about his sexuality but for a lot of people in this thread (myself included) we truly believe that he was queer. I'm not going to suddenly say I don't believe that about him because this happened because it was based on what I believed for almost a decade before this happened.

I also don't think it's fair to shame people for worrying about Key considering how many people here thought they were in a relationship. If they were together I can't imagine what Key is even going through, especially since it's not something he'll be able to openly grieve about with complete honesty unless he makes the very huge decision of coming out (and, in turn, outs Jonghyun). Even if you don't think they were currently together they clearly had something special, Key did have feelings for him at one point that went past platonic and from the one shot of him we've seen since this news broke we can tell he's completely devastated by it.

There is a certain amount of shaming that goes along with the suggestion that we can't mourn someone we viewed as one of our own and whose speculated sexuality / support of the LGBT community meant so much to. Or that we're not allowed to worry about his speculated boyfriend.

This conversation wouldn't be happening if his speculated partner was female and people were worried about how she was doing to be honest.

why do people here always think people are attacking the lgbt community? im gay. him being gay or straight has nothing to do with this conversation. the hard fact and reality is that jonghyun did have a girlfriend at one point in time, and she is mourning. we never knew if he ever had a boyfriend or was gay with certainty. these claims no matter how strongly people believe them at the end of the day are still speculations, and at this moment in time, as jonghyun has just DIED, i personally think that it's disrespectful to still have his sexuality up for discussion like this. thats just how i feel. you all can continue talking about whether jonghyun was gay or straight all you want, i cant control you. all i can do is let you know that in my opinion, i think it's disrespectful and inappropriate, especially since he passed away literally yesterday or the day before yesterday. all we know is, he did advocate for the lgbt community in his own way and that is one of the things we should remember him for. and that is what i expected when i came into this thread, not more speculations about his orientation and even speculations about key's emotional state right now. this is all so late and corny to me, pay your respects and let's leave it at that.

There is so many problematic things about this video that I honestly don't know where to start, I don't follow this guy at all and just saw that he commented on Holland's debut that's why I watched it. The guy thinks he is some specialist when it comes to Korea and their culture but when he talks about lgbt shoving their sexuality down people's throat, or how koreans are actually happy with hiding their sexuality and living in the closet, painting Korea as almost the most gay friendly country in the world (I'm not saying that younger generation didn't change but Korea as a country is still homophobic as hell) I ask myself where is he getting all those informations from because I have lgbt friends living in Korea, one has been living there for almost 10 years and his opinions are completely different.

god i hate him so much i cant.

i literally blocked him on youtube a while ago so i was shocked to see his face in this thread.

he literally irks my whole entire SOUL.

hold up let me just take a shower first and then im gonna go off.

some of my twitter mutuals were freaking out because their gay memes and alignment charts were going viral among korean nctzens, but the kfans responded with assuring us that they've been in the know long before us.

tumblr_p6f5sret701uwadswo1_500.png

my korean is very inadequate but just from scrolling through some of these accounts it's obvious that most of them are perfectly aware of the main gays in nct (ten, taeyong, jaehyun, jungwoo) and are especially supportive of ten's hoe antics.

i just thought i'd share since there's a very prevalent tendendy to exaggerate the ignorance and naivety of kfans. sure, there are lots of homophobic fans who think all their faves are straight, but the same can be said for ifans.

er i agree with ten and taeyong, and maybe jungwoo, but i dont think jaehyun is gay lol this is the first im hearing of this.

Here are my brief thoughts on nct members, I’d love to discuss though:

Taeyong: I am really confident that he is gay, but is kinda unsure of himself?? He definitely seems more confident lately

Taeil: I honestly thought he was straight but reading this thread has made me question that a bit so I don’t really know.

Johnny: bi

Yuta: gay

Kun: straight

Doyoung: gay

Ten: gay and there is no doubts for me

Jaehyun: either straight or bi, I can’t see him as only being attracted to men. I’m leaning more towards straight though

Winwin: straight

Jungwoo: im very confident he is gay and confident about it

Lucas: either bi or straight but very affectionate

Mark: straight

Renjun: bi or straight

Jeno: idk why but I actually think he might be asexual??? idk I’m asexual and I have friends who are asexual and I just get those vibes. If not then probably pan cos he really doesn’t seem to treat anyone differently if that makes sense

Haechan: I actually think he might be straight, but just likes affection and to tease people. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t though

Jaemin: bi or gay

I don’t really know about the maknae line and feel kinda weird commenting on them so I’ll just leave it, they’re too young to tell anyway

imo, everyone in NCT is straight (especially the dreamies) except for ten, and maybe jungwoo or taeyong lol

"As we travel around the world, we learned and felt a lot (...) there are people who feel various kinds of love"

People must acknowledge that BTS - lgbt+ or not - are always trying to be more inclusive during their speeches

im not replying specifically to your comment, but just a general comment. we have to remember that 99.999% of idols are sheltered korean bois and girls that have grown up in an overwhelmingly homogenous society with old fashioned ideals and minimal diversity, whether it be racial, lgbt, or religious diversity. bts is no exception to that. i mean tae literally spent some time growing up on a farm in the korean countryside right (?) and it wasnt too long ago that rapmon dropped the N word in a live performance. in other words, i dont think they were as "woke" as fans made them out to be in their earlier years. listening to a troye sivan song does NOT make you "woke" lmao. it takes understanding and empathy, and that means either experiencing the struggles and hardships yourself as a gay man or knowing someone close to you that is.

promoting in the US and other places around the world probably opened their eyes to a lot of things very recently, and im glad theyre getting more exposure to communities they claim to support.

That is for sure, saying little phrases like this one by J-Hope or others by RM and Yoongi in the past are helping at least the younger part of korean society to be more open about those matters (they have a huge influence right now)

oh totally, and i really respect and appreciate them for that. i knew the members were likely always open minded on the subject but i guess my point is just that personally, as a gay man i found it a little disingenuous of them supporting the lgbt community when they first debuted because it felt more gimmicky than sincere.

why does SM have so many sus artists.

also why do ppl think doyoung is the resident Het?

he’s stuck up for the LGBT community numerous times?? yes, i understand that being an ally doesn’t instantly make you lgbt, but at the same time it can be an indicator.

he seems like Heechul, a type of man that women feel safe around.

while he did call ariana grande hot that doesn’t even rule out the possibility of him being bi

also never forget the legendary ‘prisoner of Korean style denial tweet lmao.

anyways, he just seems suspicious as hell to me, i’d love to hear everyone else’s thoughts on him. the search function is still Broken, an absolute tragedy.

omg one more thing, why are people so offended by the idea that an idol may be lgbt, sometimes those people speak behind such thinly veiled homophobia while posing as some sort of moral police. are kpop fans that delusional that they think no gay people exist in the industry?? we’re living in 20biteen for Tens sake. while fetishizing is gross, why would others take simple speculation as such an insult?

doyoung doesnt strike me as gay at all.

straight men can be open minded and accepting of the lgbt community without actually being gay... like someone pointed out, he might have a friend or relative that's out to him.

I can't post receipts right now, but the way he acts around Jungwoo seems less than heterosexual to me.

My general impression is that Jungwoo is obviously gay and very fem (even by Korean standards, when taking cultural differences into account) and Doyoung is a good example to me of a straight guy that’s also very fem. and I think that’s why they get along so well lol

I honestly can't tell if Xiao Jun and Hendery are like Taemin and just genuinely think Ten is so talented so they have this like crush on him in an admiration since or if it's like a romantic crush. Xiao Jun, before he met Ten, literally had videos and photos of Ten on his phone. Hendery is whipped to the point that he let's Ten call him Donkey and just always wants to be around him. But for those two it could honestly just be looking up to a senior. It's hard to tell.

I always thought Xiao Jun was more likely than Hendery. I think most go with Hendery because he's always with Ten and he likes pink. I think part of Hendery's thing is that hrs the youngest with 3 or 4 sisters.

In general, WayV to me is a very straight group.

IMO,

Kun - very straight but is very maternal lol

Ten - bi/gay. likes guys but I feel like he’s also open to girls.

WinWin - also very straight but has a healthy sense of masculinity, he really doesn’t subscribe to that typical toxic masculine heteronormative bs

Lucas - straight, but ultimately would have sex with anyone or anything given the chance bc he’s a narcissist and I feel like for him it comes down to him being dominant and wanting to top something lmao

Xiaojun - straight but obviously open minded given his dad is a drag queen

Hendery - also straight

Yang Yang - an extremely straight chinese hypebeast boy

Please explain a bit? This is such a different reading to mine, I'm very intrigued.

I agree half - with Winwin being secure in his masculinity, and with Lucas being down-for-it if there's a chance. YY is very straight obviously.

What do people think of Lucas' interactions with Jungwoo and later with XiaoJun?

I've been following NCT/WayV closely since debut and I'm an nctzen/weizennie (WinWin is my ultimate bias and has been for 3 years, and WayV is my ultimate bias group) so I've seen them pretty much everywhere. I'm sure people here talking about them are pretty familiar with them too, but I just wanted to give some context to my opinion before people come for me LOL Like, it's not like I'm just giving my thoughts after watching 1 interview or something.

It seems like most people agree that WW, Lucas, and YY are straight, and that Ten is gay/bi. So by agreeing with half, you mean that you think Hendery, Xiaojun, and Kun aren't straight? imo, I haven't seen anything from them to suspect that they're into dudes :s What makes people suspect Kun? He's very "motherly" to the other members, but that comes with being the oldest in the group. I don't remember exactly where, but in the past, his ideal type that he described was very clearly of a woman, and he gets uncomfortable when people call him "mom" rather than "dad", he's enforced traditional male gender roles before, etc. I'm not saying that him subscribing to male stereotypes is indicative of his sexuality, but to me, he's always said and done things that seem to be from the perspective of a straight guy.

And I guess what makes people suspect Hendery is his relationship with Ten, right? I think they're just good friends and get along really well. They have good chemistry together and it shows. He's mentioned before that he used to watch Ten's dance performances when he was still a trainee, and that it inspired him to become a better performer. So I think he still has admiration for Ten as a dancer and performer, and that sort of bleeds into their personal friendship as well. But it's platonic to me. Also no @ the user that said one of the reasons he's gay is because he likes the colour pink. like sis... no lol

As for Xiaojun, I have no idea why people think he's gay. He's cute, I know he's really sentimental and thoughtful, and he's a deep thinker.. but I haven't seen him show any homosexual tendencies. I haven't seen anything gay about his relationship with Lucas. Are people talking about that member interview segment they did when Xiaojun wrote a song/poem about Lucas or whatever? I think Xiaojun would've written something thoughtful about all of the members.

Overall, WayV is a group that is clearly very tight-knit and they have a lot of love for each other. They've mentioned time and time again that they're like brothers, and I honestly believe them. It doesn't feel fake or forced like the rest of NCT sometimes is. I think being Chinese in Korea, having trained there in a foreign country together, and having worked together tirelessly towards their debut that was constantly getting pushed back and thrown up into the air by THAAD and other obstacles drove them all really close together. ATM, I don't see romance forming between any of the members. The closest thing so far are the members thinking Ten is hot and Lucas being a horndog lol

Before you read this I am fully aware that I’m going to come across as a delusional stan, but I assure you that I am not. I wasn’t going to post this at first, because I didn’t want to make a fool of myself, but I just really wanted to share my thoughts. Nct (and a few of the other groups I mention) is just one of those groups where nearly everyone pings for me. I know it’s absurd to believe a majority of them are a part of the lgtb community, but it’s just how I feel based off of my own personal observations (Although, I haven’t been following them as close as I used to)

Also, I didn’t come prepared with “receipts” because that would be way too much work for a group like this, so I apologize in advance

- Taeyong: 100% positive he’s gay or at least interested in men despite his recent homophobic controversy. He also pings visually and mannerism-wise more often than not (if that makes sense?) I know that’s not saying much, but his actions just speak louder than words could ever. Also, I read he did (or chose to do?) a photo/video shoot (?) in a gay bar?? I read he also said it was one of the most memorable things he’s ever done (or something along those lines) and idk about y’all, but that spoke tremendous volumes

- Jaehyun: likely a part of the lgbt community. Just not sure where he fits in. I’ve had this feeling about him, since his early debut days. Maybe he’s bisexual? He’s shown more interest in men (or rather members from his group) than women (that I know of) let’s also not forget his long running crush on Doyoung’s brother and the way he bit his lip while starring at Wonho’s ass (I’m not 100% sure he actually did that though. When I first saw the gif I was like “holy shit. Can you be more obvious?” and now I’m like *insert thinking emoji* because the angle of the video and gif were kinda confusing. He may not have been looking at him or his ass, but if he was.....oof he really liked what he saw) I know those are old “receipts” but they are still gold

- Johnny: most people say he’s just a supporter, but I personally think he’s a part of the community himself considering all the sus things he’s done in the past as well as present. I mean, I don’t understand how people, with their own two eyes, see all the gay shit this man does on a daily basis and then just pass 95% of it off as him just being playful and silly. I sometimes feel like people give him a pass, because he’s masculine and doesn’t fit into a stereotype. He seems like he wouldn’t be the type to shoot down another mans advances towards him (not necessarily sexual) and would probably enjoy it and genuinely flirt back. Probably would be the first to engage in conversation imo

- Mark: he’s confusing a majority of the time, so I’m not sure what to put down for him. One day he’s talking about how hotdogs taste in his mouth (we all know what him and Jaemin were talking about. If they weren’t talking about dicks Mark wouldn’t have thought it was so funny. They ain’t slick. I’m actually surprised Mark played along) and the next he’s a panicked hetero, but I won’t label him exclusively straight just, because I’m not sure. Lately, he’s been acting a bit more sus though, which is something I’ve seen a few people point out as well. Also, him and Kai have been giving off major vibes when they are together, but still not enough for me to come to a conclusion. Maybe one day I’ll have more of a solid opinion on him. I mean, it’s been years, but who knows? A few months from now he’ll probably do something that will finally answer our questions

- Taeil: most likely interested in men. He’s proved it time after time and not with just Winwin. From what I keep seeing on twitter he seems to be into older white men and I fully support that. I also feel like he’d be that member to accidentally out himself ajsksks

- Yuta: not sure. He only seems to be notably sus when he’s around or talking about Winwin. Other than that I haven’t seen him show much interest in guys. Well, there was this one video where he was checking out a mans abs when he took his shirt off in front of them. I don’t know the name of the video, since I haven’t watched it yet. I just saw people posting and reposting his reaction on Twitter. I’m surprised it didn’t trend under his name in the searches lol. His reaction was pretty questionable. He also pings mannerism-wise sometimes. Also, anybody else notice he’s become a bit more sus ever since he started growing his hair out? Or is it just me?

- Haechan: a part of me wants to say he’s gay, but there’s another part of me that isn’t so sure anymore. I’ve never seen him show much interest in females and I’ve never really seen him show much interest in guys aside from Mark, who I don’t think he’s romantically or sexually attracted to like half the fandom does. Their ship has been popular for years and they both know that. That’s why we’re always being fed content and that’s why I find it hard to separate how he really feels about him. Aside from Mark he’s an all around affectionate guy. It’s hard to tell when he’s genuinely flirting or interested in someone. To add in, I feel like the fandom ignores 80% of the sus things he does if it doesn’t involve Mark in some type of way, which makes it hard to get a discussion on him going sometimes. I feel like there’s so much content we’re missing out on, because everyone’s turning a blind eye. Anyway, I guess I’ll leave him blank for now as well

- Jungwoo: gay, but sometimes I’m not sure

- Winwin: people say he’s gay. People say he’s straight and people say he’s asexual. I have no idea what to think. He’s very quiet and reserved, so there’s not much to observe. I’ve actually never had a proper opinion on his sexuality. I’ve seen a lot of people say he’s gay, but apparently only for Yuta and like.....no......that’s not how it works. And for the people that believe he’s asexual, why? I’m curious

- Doyoung: if he’s not at least gay or bisexual I’ll be shocked. His whole being pings for me. He called Ariana Grande (?)  hot a few months ago and everyone was basically like “welp, I guess he’s straight” but.......I’m a lesbian and I think Billy from Stranger Things, Daryl from The Walking Dead and Kim Hyeoun (Khh artist) are the sexiest guys to ever walk this planet and I admit that with my whole chest and guess what? I’m still gay. Just saying. Also, bisexuality does exist. Idk why people like to forget that

- Jeno: gay. Was pretty sure about this the more I watched him interact with Jaemin

- Jaemin: same as above. I don’t normally look into ships, but there’s just something about them that’s TOO real, you know? I wish I could show you guys what I mean. Lately, they’ve been more sus than usual. Their “receipts” aren’t too hard to find if you’d like to look into it. Just check Twitter and Tumblr or pretty much any social media website

- Renjun: not really sure. He hasn’t done much that warranted a question in his sexuality

- Jisung: he can be kinda sus sometimes, but not enough for me to believe he’s interested in guys

- Chenle: he pinged for me since he was a little kid and pings even more now

- Yangyang: other than him visually pinging I don’t have much to say about him

- Hendery: most likely interested in men. Just a hunch

- Xiaojun: same as above

- Ten: do I really need to say anything?

- Lucas: he gives off the type of vibe that tells me he would be down for anything as long as he’s attracted to them, which is something I’ve seen the fandom agree on, since he debuted. I mean, he has shown interest in guys, but he’s also shown interest in females too

Kun: I’ve seen people label him as gay, but I just don’t see it

im not trying to discredit your opinion, but as a gay nctzen/weizennie myself, idk sis... I don't think that all the 17/21 members you listed are actually gay/bi/questioning. like girl you think even chenle is gay, and that he pinged you since he was a little kid..? isnt that pushing it a bit? i mean the boy's only like, what, 17? hes still so young, i dont think the interactions hes had with the other members up until now were anything enough to interpret sexual or romantic feelings from. i mean it would basically be rupaul's drag race: korea at this point lmao (actually can we pls have this after uk?).

but yeah idk. the only ones in nct that i truly believe have an interest in men are taeyong and ten. yuta, jaehyun, and others are pros at acting coy and giving fanservice. doyoung is fairly open minded, maybe because his brother is gay. jungwoo could be gay, be to me hes just one of those ultra fem korean boys from seoul lol. mark and others are young, hormonal teenage bois.

im probably gonna get downvoted too, but i just wanna continue the discussion xD

Okay but can anyone give a legit reason why someone like momo would agree to be a beard? Shes in one of the hottest girl groups around and getting massive hate for what? If heechul wanted a beard, he couldve chosen someone less controversial. Not to mention theres that video of them secretly holding hands going around. I just dont believe their relationship is "fake". Momo literally gets no pros from it unless she has feelings for him. Also why would heechul chose to get a beard now? If their dating wasnt public knowledge during the vlive then why would he mention it to his rabid fans? Like lol  "oh yeah, momo and I plan to get married next year "

Yeah I'd have to agree. I also think that Heechul prefers men and that their "relationship" is diabolical, but I don't think this is a beard relationship. I highly doubt that Momo herself would knowingly enter that sort of relationship or that JYP would ever approve of that. It's possible that Heechul may be trying to cover up his own tracks, and is using her. But I certainly don't think Momo is in on it.

what do yall think about kpop idols/groups (and other celebrities) randomly being pro-gay despite never having otherwise shown support for the community? im honestly not thinking of any group in particular, but just in general, its just something ive noticed recently (ive been a kpop fan for a while now).

as a gay man i do appreciate it and id also love if my favs did it but i feel like im also old enough now to tell when its just pandering to the gay community for coin. like, i feel like idols know that a large portion of their international fanbases (specifically, their american fans) are members of the LGBTQIA2+ community or allies. and showing pro-gay sentiments has become "trendy". sometimes, their support just doesnt seem genuine and seems fake/forced.

what do u guys think?
