Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

Honey baekho has his model boyfriend(he is a model right they were both already discussed here so yeah)

Sent from my GT-I9300 using OneHallyu mobile app

Are you talking about Bumzu? He's a producer, not a model and I don't think they are actually together. But Baekho has had plenty of low-key moments that I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was bisexual. There isn't anyone in that group I would say is 100% hetero, but my ranking of them from "definitely GAY" to "maybe hetero, maybe" is: Ren, JR, Aron, Baekho, Minhyun with the last three being really close in the "could go either way" territory.

Here let me assist (take note @ 1:39):

Since they're new, there isn't a lot outside of their performance videos to do a real analysis. i'm not really surprised that their company would be shipping them; in every public appearance they make, they are lined up in the same order and those two are always next to each other (and usually touching). They also have Donghun between Chan and Jun (Dongchan and Dongjun are the other prominent ships).

Thank you for showing my babies some love lol. But I doubt the company is actually pushing them or anything. Some groups (usually those with small number of members) have their official order

eg: Red Velvet (Joy - Yeri - Irene - Seulgi - Wendy) , Mamamoo ( gay-lord-moonbyul , solar , wheein , hwasa )

But they're just so touchy it's amazing hahaha.

Yesterday I discovered A.C.E. subs and was watching for like hours and noticed Donghun is always feeling up somebody's legs (not that I blame him, because I'd STAY on those thighs), no matter who it is, so I then started to think the official order was just coincidental. They also will post and tweet things themselves on the official accounts, and were the ones who decided on the hot pants look, so it seems they have a lot of input on their image.

(Also I'm new here so can anybody tell me what do you think about the rest of NCT as well? :3)

Gay: Ten, Taeyong, Jaehyun, Winwin

Suspect: Johnny, Yuta, Mark, Haechan

Straight: Taeil, Doyoung

As for the rest of the members, Many people here seem to assume that Jaehyun and Taeyong are not straight.

I agree with their opinion!

But Taeyong's comment on NNN(170726) makes me confused. At that time, the topic of the conversation was about unrequited love, and he specifically said that her(whom he liked when he was fourth grader in elementary school) 'OPPA' (I think you know what 'OPPA' means.) was the student leader of the elementary school. I think this is a clear mention that the person he liked was a woman. Not just because he said 'OPPA'. He mentioned that her brother was a student leader. I think if the person he liked was a man, he could not explain in detail like this on radio.

He also said that when he was high school student, he has never had a crush on anyone. because his high school(Before he attended a 서공예(SOPA)) was a boy's high school.

So for now, i don't know exactly about him...

(ohhhh, I'm sad. I can't explain in detail because I'm not good at English...[emoji23])

Eh, he was in 4th grade. I "liked" girls then too and even asked one out because that was just what you were supposed to do.

Bisexuals don't exist 0u0plz.png?

So many people genuinely use bisexual as a substitute for "they're suspicious but I'm not sure" and vice versa...

Anyway I'm pretty convinced Jaehyun's bi and not even subtle about it, I hope we get to see his flirting interaction with 'Gongmyung-ie hyung~'.

Of course bisexuals exist, lol; I usually just try to stick to "has same-sex attraction" but that's wordy and I get lazy and use gay as a short hand. I also don't like to suggest someone is bi/pan when I'm unsure about them, because that always seems like the default go to when some on here can't get a good read and it's like they're hedging their bets that way. It's also hard to try to discern because of heteronormativity and the ever present incentive for idols to perform it on some level to maintain their careers. Despite the reality of fan service, going out of your way to make a point about your interest in the same sex is just going to carry much more weight because the potential long-term costs outweigh the short-term benefit getting fans riled up gives.

So when I say I think someone is suspect or I'm unsure, I mean that I haven't seen or heard anything to make any kind of guess. And even when I do, I accept that I can very well be wrong, and that's fine because I don't know these people and it's not like I'm going to be dating them anyway soooo...

But that's really what I read NCT as based on what I've observed first hand, but while I follow them, I don't watch or see EVERYTHING they say or do so these opinions can change. I think Jaehyun is gay mainly because he has demonstrated some real interest in other guys, his general mannerisms, and because I haven't seen much that shows him really interested in women. I'd ask for some examples for him, but the last time someone tried to prove someone's attraction to the opposite sex here, it went south really fast.

Kai is quaking.

But on a more serious note, Taemin has been on my radar for a while. He doesn't ping me in general because he doesn't draw attention to himself, but he avoids questions about his "ideal type" by saying that it changes a lot and he's really picky. I know he's a perfectionist and that might be true, but its shady just how little attention he draws to himself and I think it may be something he's doing on purpose.

yes, he's very elusive and enigmatic. He's so private, I sometimes find it off putting. I didn't even know he and Jimin were friendly like that.

It wasn't in the last clip of this, but in the full clip Noh Taehyun mentions being surrounded by 101 attractive men right before he admits to his Daehwi crush, or as he put it, "a situation that made me think I need to be more careful."

Skip to 32:35:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hUoNhaXKB8&list=LLmspGBsaLchHAOfy2-vnGUw

So it may not have just been Daehwi for Taehyun. 0u0plz.png

If Wanna Go is any indication of what dorm life was like on PD101, plus the pretty high number of non-straight/heteroflexible/open-minded trainees, seems like the perfect environment for one such situation.

Spoilering the next bit because I'm probably going to sound delulu shipper AF, BUT:

JRen did an episode of Zone! Zealous! and I need a second opinion on if anyone is picking up some playful couple vibes? It's pretty much throughout, but really picks up around the picture drawing game at like 7:00.

http://www.vlive.tv/video/37540

It's mostly how JR is acting, because the scenarios aren't questionable at all. I thought maybe it was just his awkward attempt at an over the top persona or he was buzzed but then I saw the behind the scenes video: http://www.vlive.tv/video/37660

...and it continues. The camera man even picks up on it by capturing each of their reactions watching the other film individual gags at around 6:05. JR looks so enamored by Ren the camera man asks him "what are you thinking about watching Ren?"

I already believed they could have had a real thing, but that it died out a while ago. But now...hurrplz.png

I literally do, though. I'm against all types of mistreatment of idols and i speak out against it when I can. I also never said that everyone here was straight, either. It doesn't change the fact that you are literally treating idols like characters by discussing their personal lives and identities when its ****not your place****. I just find it unsettling that there's a thread with thousands of replies discussing idols' sexual orientations like they're characters in a book. you wouldn't treat anyone you know in real life like that. look for representation in celebrities that are actually open and comfortable with their queerness instead of being invasive and using their personal lives as a topic.

I'd also like to mention that no one seems to care about female idol's sexual orientations as much as they care about male's, so it's obviously not just well intended discussion if there's a double standard which obviously points to preference.

Like i said before, I'm aware of the heteronormativity in kpop and it's just as bad. Anyone could be queer or not, but that doesn't mean it's anyone's business. I don't assume idols are straight or lgbt, i just recognize that it's not my place to speak on it.

Did you not notice the lesbian thread that is pinned right at the top of the celebrity gossip & news section just like this one. It's over 1000 pages so I wouldn't say no one seems to care. Most of what we analyze here is stuff the idols have said and done publically, so how is their privacy being invaded? And even the stuff where they are unaware, like those backstage pics of Jimin and Taemin, isn't damning. We can talk when someone is posting a sex tape or has hacked their phones and posting clearly private messages that would actually cross the line into outing them. This is a SPECULATION thread on a random internet forum that carries no authority and isn't anymore damaging than fanfiction. Most who post here are queer-affirming too so how is anyone being dehumanized?

What do you guys think about idols who actually maybe bi or even gay but would never go for homosexual relationship? For various reasons, someone is very religious (don't tell me that you can be religious and being gay perfectly fine - not everyone is the same, not every religion is the same and many people actually can't accept this bc of this matter), someone is maybe too afraid of society or family judging, or maybe there is someone who will have homo-relationship but will end up with woman anyway to create classic family and such.

Especially the latter "option" - I think many k-op idols who are bi or even gay would end up with hetero family, bc, well, Korea is still not that progressive in that aspect and same sex marriage is actually forbidden by law (if we are talking about official marriage).

I mean, who do you think (you suspect to be gay or bi) will not go for typical hetero family(if it isn't a great love ofc and they really want it with that certain person) and would prefer to stay single?

Ugh, I suck at explanation but hope you understand me.

For example, I see many people are confused about Kyungsoo (I'm talking about him bc I know him the most out of everyone ofc), he confuses me too, but I just come to this idea - maybe he is attracted to men to some extent, but he will not go for it (at least seriously and for a long time) and I'm sure as hell he will end up with wife and kids and will be pretty happy. I just see this in his personality + he says himself he doesn't like complicated things lol.

But I can't be that sure bc i don't know him personally ofc, but you are discussing everything here, even just the "vibe" so I think it's fine x))

Well even average non-celebrities in more accepting cultures do that, so I'm sure a lot of idols do end up putting up a front or staying "single" forever. Some idols have been speculated as possibly going that route based on their background. It's really personal and complicated because there are a lot of factors to consider (their families, careers, if they would stay in Korea or move abroad, etc.).

But it'll be interesting to see as the 2nd gen idols start to marry and transition out of idol life, what'll happen. The possibly queer idols are a lot bolder in showing support and embracing the idea, and this current generation even more so, so while I don't know if legal same sex marriage would be an option, there might be more "glass closet" relationships.

I make a statement for my confused friends^^

Bisexual people can fall in love with both women and men, and  can make a relationship with them.

Homoflexible people can only fall in love with same sex and can relate to them. They basically are gays who can have sexual intercourse with opposite sex " if " likes it enough. For them this is just one time thing, then they return their partners.

That sounds stupid as fuck. Sorry

Sexuality is much too complex to fall into just three simplified categories, so people come up with other terms that take other variables into account. A lot more recent sexuality studies and scales look at multiple variables like romantic orientation vs. sexual attraction because previous scales (like Kinsey) were no longer adequate. The word may sound dumb, but the sentiment behind it isn't. There are people who think pansexual and demisexual sound stupid too.

So Seonho, Minki, JR, and Sewoon visited the W1 dorm and Seonho who is obsessed with Minhyun gave him a pillow with a doll of him printed on it.

At this point, it is really getting sad... It's obvious he really really likes Minhyun and really wants Minhyun to love him as well, but firstly the age gap is too big. My boy, it's not going to work.

EDIT: He also mentioned he wanted to be tied with Minhyun I'm-

This is the video between

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QupOc1WLGQo

I'm starting to get embarrassed for him. He even got Ren like "bro stop, reel it in."

daehwi is one of us

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3dYzqaYNaY

also i love a sistren that sees a man and goes for it, like get it daehwi

He is so smooth, got his man just sipping out the same drink like it's nothing. Baejin seems sorta oblivious to Daewhi's crush.

Being out of the competition is finally letting me get a good read on Jihoon and he really pings me now. He's less reserved now that he knows that Mnet loves the fanservice/over-the-top skinship, but he's still trying not to do too much and tries to keep he and Guanlin's dynamic very lowkey.

Doesn't aoora have a gf?

People love to say he has a wife, but can't produce a name let alone actual receipts. So, no.

is Edward putting out music now?? more gays in the korean music world is always a good thing

I met him once last year outside of Soho in Itaewon??? but it was like 3am and I was drunk and had no idea who he was or how popular he was, I regret not talking to him more lol. my friend told me how much she loved his makeup videos after we had all chatted and I was like wait what

Yes this is his second collab with Trophy Cat, so I guess this is a serious pursuit or side hustle.

I want to hang with him and his crew so bad! It would be a good time all the time.

Lmao at some people reducing asexuality, demisexuality, etc to mere Tumblr creations. Y'all ignorant as fuck and should be ashamed of it.

Truly, those terms all originated in academia. And what terms someone wants to use to make sense of their own identity and to seek out others with similar experiences really has no impact on anybody else. If you don't identify with them, don't use them.

My guess is that you're extremely insecure and self-conscious for whatever reason (excessive weight, social anxiety, trauma, defective upbringing etc.) and have therefore developed some kind of mental barriers strong enough to convince you that you have no sexual feelings towards other human beings. The only way I personally can fathom the existence of asexuality is as a manifestation of some psychological mechanism (most likely a defense mechanism) or as a result of substantial developmental defects. But not as a sexual orientation which by definition implies sexual attraction towards someone or even something (like atheism is not a religion).

No you did not try to offer some armchair psychoanalysis on something you clearly know nothing about.

Ugh, my post keeps getting screwed up, but in a nutshell: NO ONE WAS IMPLYING THAT ASEXUALS ARE MORE OPPRESSED. The word "marginalized" means outside of the mainstream i.e. "at the margins" and doesn't require systemic oppression. The poster already clarified what they meant so can we move on, since the ones who were trying to educate have said all they can possibly say and the willfully obtuse aren't interested. Now taking a page out of Aunite Maxine's book and:

^ this so much.

this thread used to be a lot more analysis and discussion on REAL reciepts. now people just interpret interactions in ways that align with their own ships. its almost like reading fanfics at some point. like, is anyone here actually gay anymore? or have actually been in a real-life relationship?

It's a gay drought. Most idols who provide the good receipts are not providing anything new that sparks a discussion/analysis that hasn't already been done several times over. And the newer idols don't have much of anything besides shippy moments since a lot seem heavily restricted in their ability to post or do anything not officially sanctioned by their companies (like posting on their personal SNS accounts). I'm sure things will pick up when the final quarter comebacks and promotions start for some different groups.

I agree with this as well as anyone else who said something similar, to find a happy medium, and/or that it's best to ignore what doesn't interest us and keep it moving. I think it's okay for this place to be mindless fun sometimes and serious (yet still fun hopefully) other times.

I would also add that while I personally don't think much of any two idols in the same group (ship or whatever people want to call it) are likely to date in real life, I think some of their actions may reveal insights to their preferences and attractions as individuals and even possibly mutual attractions. I rag on them a lot because I feel like people give one a pass because he's less "obvious" or "gay" or whatever but Vernon and Seungkwan are a great example. I don't think they're dating but it's pretty obvious to most of us that Seungkwan is smitten with Vernon and it's obvious to me personally that Vernon has some degree of sexual attraction to males and their actions toward each other have helped to demonstrate one or both of those things depending on your view.

Shipping in and of itself is generally just fun that people engage in but some ships can be valuable as means to an end to observe same-gender interactions and possible attractions/questionable actions. Ships can be created out of thin air by companies but some can be a response to closeness that fans pick up on and "demand" more of (the vast majority of these, purely friendship). I think it would be presumptuous to say that every single ship is merely a couple of bros being bros. I think it's possible that some of these could be two people who are attracted to each other or a duo in which one is attracted to the other. So yeah, while I don't support shipping wars and I'm not necessarily behind trying to prove that ships are "real", they can be a means to an end and I'm okay with that on some level.

This is what I was going to say, that there is a difference between pushing a ship and using it as an example of suspect interations. The way you view Vernon and Seungkwan is how I view Jaehyun/Taeyong and JR/Ren, that they are pretty indicative at least on Taeyong and JR's parts respectively.

And it's true that dating within a group would create a lot of problems. But I'm sure we all know people (or have been that person ourselves), who dive into dead on arrival relationships not forseeing or ignoring the possible negative consequences. Like people bring up Daewhi and Jinyoung as probably not involved because they are in a trending group and it's too big of a risk, etc. But they are also 16/17, and at that age don't really think that far ahead about all the possible ramifications. Meanwhile, someone like Jisung who is older and their window of opportunity in the idol world is limited, would be more likely to think like that and not pursue anything.

Sidenote: Can't people who aren't interested in certain groups or topics just bring up something that they're more interested in?

Exactly! The most suspicious thing about Ong is how possessive he can be when it comes to Daniel:

1. As mentioned in my post a few pages ago, how he removed Dongho from Hands On Me.

2. The above clip from Kiiona (here's the gif version for a quick loop)

3. This hite CF interview (4:00-4:15), notice Ong and Jisung's reaction.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox9Hn7zdW7Y

4. Remember : Ong, Daniel, and Jisung are roommates.

5. Expressed slight displeasure/surprise when Daniel said he wanted to share a room with Woojin.

6. Said "they're not close" when Daniel sat with Minhyun for Wanna One Go trailer.

7. This and many more photos where he's always around Daniel "somehow" (too many to list).

If Ongniel is real, it's definitely coming from Ong.

In #2, Ong is clearly looking at Jaewhan (because he's talking and they're in an interview), Daniel just moved his arm, and Jisung (also looking at Jaewhan and not Ongniel) is reacting to whatever Jaehwan said or Daniel chuckling to himself. I also don't see any real reaction other than them trying to keep it together and get through that ridiculous beer interview in #3. I don't feel like those two do anything that suspicious and a lot of the receipts on them are very circumstancial.

In #2, Daniel moved his arm after he saw his own hand through the back of Jaehwan's neck (notice his seating position, he sat further back and had a clear vision of Ong, he can't actually see Jaehwan's face), smiled at Jisung (who also smiled back), removed his hand, and took another glance at Ong (that, or he's took a glance at Jaehwan's hair which don't make any sense). All in the span of 6 seconds.

In #3, the thing that bugs me is that when Minhyun was talking about Daniel, Jisung's head turned to Ong and their eyes actually met for about half a second (4:13) before breaking contact. Indeed it's a trivial (and boring) interview, but I can't help but to wonder if there's any meaning from Jisung staring at Ong (after all, the topic had nothing to do with Ong and everything about Minhyun's affection for Daniel). And there's absolutely no reason for him to check out Ong's reaction like he did.

IMO when it comes to Ongniel, circumstantial evidences are far more meaningful than any of their fanservice stuff (Ongniel is Science and all that bromance stuff) because Ong and Daniel are very secretive by nature : Fans discovered that they had multiple wine dates, months after the fact. They sneaked out together to eat ramen (with autographs as proof) and according to the OP, Daniel referred to Ong as "Hyung-ah", something he never did in front of camera. That's why fanservice-mode Ongniel is, to some extent, fake. I can list all of their fanservice moments, but it wouldn't be authentic enough because in the end it's all just a fanservice.

I mean look at it this way : Daniel loves having skinship. We've seen him casually touching Minhyun (playing with his hair), Jaehwan (putting his arms around him), Daehwi (having him sleep on his lap), Jinyoung (having him sit on his lap), Jisung (sitting on his lap), Woojin (patting his head), Sungwoon (messing his hair), even Jihoon (touching his cheek). That's...everyone except Guanlin and Ong. For some reason he never messes around with Ong in front of camera, even though he named Ong as his BFF (so by default he should be touching Ong the most, not Minhyun). Add Daehwi's reaction to their skinship in Wanna One Go teaser, "Feels like they've done this a lot?", "They've done this a lot~", and the conclusion is really simple : they've been hiding their skinship from the camera.

The only reason why people think Ong and Daniel are straight is because they look and act straight. People are quick to judge Jisung as gay (even though there are no receipts on him) but when it comes to Ongniel they're obviously just straight bros. imstupid.png

My whole point was that in those two clips it is actually not clear who is making eye contact with who, what their reactions are, or what they are even reacting to. They are also so brief, that odds are they probably were just coincidental/unintentional and don't mean anything. In general, people show their attention and engagement with a conversation by looking at/towards the person speaking. In the first clip Ongniel just happened to be on either side of the person speaking (so Ong is looking in Daniel's general direction, and Jisung is looking towards those three). Same with the second clip where Ong is looking towards Minhyun (who is next to Daniel) and Jisung is just looking towards Ong's direction but could be looking past him or at nothing particular at all.

I never said they are just two straight bros, and I don't have firm opinions on them because I didn't pay attention to them like that during PD101 and the stuff that gets posted here is so subtle and lowkey, it comes off as just how they naturally are and not like they are going out of their way to hide their feelings, or being possesive, or whatever. I'm very good at picking up cues from body language and love analyzing nonverbal communication, but those two examples aren't really saying anything at all about their relationship.

I actually have been wondering what you all think about JRen these days. I was pretty convinced they might be a thing back a year or two ago, but these days they don't give off that vibe? Things have been crazy for the group in general since p101 tho so I'm waiting for things to calm down a bit to figure them out...

I feel the same way, that they had something going on a while back, but I'm not sure now, because they aren't as all over each other as they were, but at the same time they are still really close and get along well so who knows what was actually going on. It has always seemed to me though that JR was more into Ren than the opposite, and he's the one usually initiating any of their questionable moments. We'll see when they have their comeback and start promoting again what we'll get.

Mainly what I'm trying to say is that Jihoon's reactions to things other people just laugh off make me more suspicious of him (like when Guanlin pretended to kiss him for fans' photos and Jihoon slowly pulled away but Samuel has said that Jihoon kissed his cheeks a lot during their time on Produce 101).

This is why I started to suspect Jihoon too. He acts so uptight and nervous all the time when he doesn't really need to. I also find it interesting in retrospect that despite how popular he was, he was not very prominent in the show and didn't show a lot of different sides to himself. I really only remembered him because he was always in the Top 11. Now watching him act basically the same way in the group it seems like he purposely tries to fly under the radar.

The other thing that makes me go "hmmm" with him is how he promotes his "cute" image. Granted most idol persona's are performance but the cute thing seems so calculated and self-ascribed it feels like it's a cover. The way he dresses, the catchphrases, etc. all seem designed to make the audience find him adorable and not necessarily attractive in a sexual way. It doesn't really mean anything it just stuck out to me as peculiar.

Aron is always trying to get ren to do gay shit with him, Like playing the pepero game with spaghetti. He also can seem to keep his hands or lips off ren during videos (he especially likes to kiss his shoulder)

... and JR is usually never amused and plays up like Aron's his love rival.
