hellooooo! i'm new to oh but I've been a lurker of this thread for about a little over a year. since i finally got the courage to create an oh account i might as well share quick views on my bias group nct. i plan on doing similar posts on bts, wanna one, and exo in the future as i follow them as well. i apologize as i know these types of posts are done all the time (also i didn't include any pictures or videos because i'm still figuring out how to do all of that embedding stuff haha)

my nct knowledge has been slightly rusty as i have been preparing for school and have been busy but i will give this my best shot from what i do remember.

 

taeil - straight. he genuinely cares for the members and seems to have a good relationship with them as the oldest member but i have never sensed any type of attraction towards the members and males in general from him

 

johnny - i'm still not solid on him, bi at most. his attraction towards women is pretty much confirmed especially from all his predebut crap and stuff although he has said quite questionable things. ex. saying "ten and i took a shower together" loud and proud, and him teasing jaehyun on nct night night. although these examples are not the best and may not allude towards him specifically being gay or LGBT in general, i think we can get a solid knowledge that he is an ally for sure. i think this thread has a very solid general view upon ten being gay and johnny and ten have a very close friendship which is something that should be considered. also johnny is from Chicago which is a very diverse city so i think its safe to say that he seems to be an open guy in general who is open to new things.

 

taeyong - confusing but i can get a general vibe from him. i'm still waiting to really have a solidified view upon taeyong. he is opening up more and more by the day as he becomes more comfortable with projecting his true colors on screen. when nct first debuted i assumed taeyong was straight because he was silent and didn't really do anything for me to get the same vibe that i get from him now. i definitely think that he is attracted to males more than he is to woman. the way he is with his members more specifically jaehyun, mannerisms, lyrics, i could go on forever pinpointing specific moments where he pinged but this is not a full on detailed analysis. my conclusion is that he is attracted to males with maybe having a slight attraction to women as well still but as i said i'm not solid on him yet. i also believe whoever taeyong is attracted to that it is more of a romantic attraction than sexual but that is another post for another time.

 

yuta - straight. idk he never seemed to show any kind of genuine attraction towards males? although i think that it's established that he is an open person so i wouldn't be surprised if he didn't really care about gender in general but i'm not sure so for now i'm gonna go with my gut and say straight.

 

ten - gay. do i even need to go into deep analysis about this one? haha

 

doyoung - straight. similar to taeil i think he seems to have a good relationship with the members but has never seemed to show any type of major attraction towards the members or males in general.

 

jaehyun - he confused me for the longest time but i think its safe to say that he is bi. he has shown attraction towards both males and females. this boy knows how to maintain his lil image but that hasn't stopped his attraction towards males from being clear. regarding his attraction towards males some examples include: ex. his crush on gong myung (!!!), him and taeyong's relationship, questionable displays of skinship with certain members (lmaoo him & ten in chiang mai tho), getting flustered when johnny teases him on night night, these are some examples to name a few. i think jaehyun is definitely one of the most confusing members tho

 

winwin - straight. this guy seems to confuse a lot of people since he seems to engage in skinship with quite a bunch of the members and gets babied a lot but i haven't really seen him display any kind of genuine attraction towards males. the only time i have really been suspicious of him is when he is w/ jaehyun (bc let's be honest yuwin is one sided af). also i'm pretty sure in one of his old weibo accounts he said he was straight so

 

mark - not straight. okay hear me out now. i firmly believe that mark isn't straight. i had ulted him for a while and before i did i was POSITIVE that he was straight but after starting to pay close attention to the dude it became clear that he wasn't straight. now this isn't really a full out detailed analysis and i believe an analysis in detail has been done before on nct but i'll tell you some things that has happened with him. ex.when the members were doing that pillow quiz thing they had said about mark that he "doesn't express his inner thoughts". i thought that this was something that could possibly be alluding towards his sexuality. this may not seem like anything but what i would like to pinpoint was his reaction. his automatic reaction was "this is weird!" and i have noticed a certain trend with mark is that when a situation involving him alludes at the possibility of him not being straight his reactions are telling as he gets all itchy and anxious about it. his relationship with haechan is something worth mentioning as well as there have been some moments there to consider. i know this might not sound convincing but i've been following this thread for a while and i know this has been discussed but due to my dustiness when it comes to nct (& kpop in general) i cant think of justifying points rn on the top of my head

 

haechan - i'm leaning towards straight but i definitely accept the possibility of that being wrong because of these reasons. he is one of the most affectionate members and likes to display skinship. he always wants to kiss or hug his members but at the same time him engaging skinship does not necessarily have to have correspondence to his sexuality as he could just be a typical affectionate dude. him and mark's relationship with each other should not be brushed aside as they have been slightly suspicious at times. however i'm going to wait and see with him.

 

as for the dream members i haven't really picked up much from their contest yet to make any solidified opinions or get a general vibe and i think something that contributes to that is the fact that they are still growing and developing. however some members that i will keep an eye out for is jeno and jaemin.

 

 

I agree with you apart from I think Johnny is straight, he's never really pinged me. I think that's even partly why his friendship with Ten is so solid because it's platonic on both sides with no sexual tension. I don't really think Ten was ever into Johnny as more than a very good friend. He's clearly chill with flirting and an ally but that's not enough to make me think he's lgbt.

 

I want receipts on Jaehyun showing any attraction or interest in girls though... I think a lot of people want him to be bi but I just don't see it. He pings more than Taeyong to me

Jaehyun has mentioned female crushes from the past multiple times and quite convincingly imo, and he seemed pretty open about liking Gongmyung, not denying it when he was accused of such and staring at him with total hearteyes, he seems chill about it and confident and open (at least with himself) when it comes to his sexuality, unlike Taeyong who imo isn't as easy about it - or at least wasnt for a very long time.

 

idk if it's just me but I also think Taeyong is/was kinda insecure about his image like his mannerisms/interests which are perceived as feminine like in that predebut video where he freaked out because Yuta exposed him for sleeping in pink pajamas lol. It wasnt a big deal but it's as if he was trying to keep a cool chic image and hide a lot of parts of himself which we've seen this year during which he seems significantly more relaxed and open.

 

(idk if this is an accurate parallel to draw but my brain connected this to him being kinda uncomfortable with Ten at the beginning because he fits some stereotypes and Taeyong not wanting to be like that/not wanting to "seem" like his sexuality affects his personality (intenalized homomphobia/homophobic stereotypes) vs now him being more comfortable with both himself and Ten and not caring as much how he's perceived.)

 

That was kinda a digression lol sorry but my point was: maybe the reason Jaehyun might ping more than Taeyong is because Jaehyun seems more chill and open whereas Taeyong is more conflicted and was in denial longer about not being straight.

 

 

I think he has/had a tiny crush on both Mark and Jeno, nbd just thought they were cute, I got this impression from his flirty/flustered smile he does sometimes just with them iirc like in this photoshoot, that video with Jeno at their graduation and some other moments I'm too lazy to search for rn because my internet's shitty.

 

Fair enough if he has talked about female crushes before. I thought he was always very careful to not mention personal stories like that on NCT Night Night whereas Taeyong talked about his unrequited crush (on a girl) and Johnny has let slip a few times where it's clear he's dated girls before.

 

Taeyong definitely used to suppress certain feminine elements of his mannerisms and behaviour yes. I've been rewatching all the NCT Life recently and you can really see him changing in front of your eyes.

 

As for Jaemin it's really just his general manner and behaviour (stereotypes I know) and then that one video of him and Jeno at SOPA which really made me think he was crushing a bit

I think Mark can be suspect too but you have to remember that he lives with Haechan (and used to share a room with him) and they don't live with any of the other Dream members so he's obviously going to know Haechan's likes/dislikes and habits better.

 

Plus they're pretty much together 24/7 as the only pair doing double promotions so they end up taking different flights etc together a lot.

 

I'm not saying they aren't close, on the contrary they are really extremely close, which is why sometimes their relationship actually makes me feel a bit uncomfortable and awkward because they clearly do bicker and fight a lot and they don't hide it to play happy family! I'm just reluctant to read anything more into it based off them just making eye contact with each other...

 

Also bear in mind jealousy applies to all kinds of relationships, not just sexual/romantic ones

Also Hansol from Topp Dogg came out as asexual and can be considered a member of the LGBTQ community in my eyes especially given the nature of his creative output and obvious influence from gay ballroom vogueing culture

 

(oh and from NCT I think Jaehyun is gay not bi but everyone seems to think he’s attracted to girls too for some reason)

He was hairstylist for celebrities long before he and heechul met again but he wasn't famous before he and Heechul started dating and posting pictures together on instagram. He started going to shows with Heechul after Heechul got discharged and now recently he started going on shows on his own. Before it was always him and Heechul together.

catching up on this thread is a wild ride... I’m not really bothered about all the BTS chat seeing as they’re a massive popular group they’re obviously going to come up a lot. And other groups do get discussed in terms of ships too (jaeyong/johnten for example) but I agree that an article about them being a pairing or an official photo shoot isn’t really worth posting outside of their ship threads AND it’s really not worth all this drama over, just ignore boring posts and move on. Like if something within a ship happens that makes you question the person’s sexuality that’s something to discuss. Johnny being so whipped for clearly gay Ten is basically the reason most people suspect him right?

for me it's not his awkward reaction towards fanservice as much as his suspicious reaction to gay moments that aren't fanservice. I'm pretty sure Jaehyun getting exposed for flirting with Doyoung's bro doesn't quite fall under fanservice, and Mark's surprised look towards the staff as if to ask whether that was ok wasn't awkward as much as suspicious - especially contrasted with the lack of reaction from everyone else. And that video where Jaemin's leg basically um.... touched him inappropriately lol and his smirk was just.... yeah I'm not sure how to describe that moment but it was.... truly something to behold.

 

There are more reasons I find him suspicious these are just the ones that I find most interesting (and funny), I don't have a solid opinion on him, he's a weirdo lol and I don't completely get him but I also don't get people saying he's 1000% straight. He's pretty interesting and I can't wait until he's more open and relaxed and shows more of himself.

As far as Dream goes Jaemin pings although who knows what he’s like now? Mark is sort of suspect but that’s been discussed here. I’m also getting some vibes from Jeno since the most recent comeback where we got to see them a bit more. He has a princely masculine vibe like Jaehyun but there’s been a few moments.

 

Haechan; honestly I think he’s straight but campy. I could very well be wrong. Renjun/Chenle/Jisung don’t ping for me.

I think that's because NCT Dream do act like kids most of the time, not because of their concept or whatever, it's just how they are. They don't really do any suspicious things that ping people, so people are just not really interested discussing them? Because there's really not much to say about them? Even with Jaemin, he pings people but he's been on hiatus for a year, so nothing much about him.

yeah all in all there’s nothing much to say about them because they don’t get sent to variety, they aren’t allowed to livestream outside of a tightly scripted and controlled format and they barely interact with other idols. in their interactions with each other there really is only a brotherly super close tight knit relationship, there’s pretty much zero actual tension (aside from markhyuck but they’re a little different)

I get the feeling Taeyong is interested in boys because he has more of an emotional connection with them. I don't know if he is necessarily sexually attracted to men, but I get the feeling he cares more about the emotional part in a relationship, and it sounds like he has only experienced that emotional connection toward boys (as of now). Who knows, maybe he needs to get close to someone to be sexually interested in them. He just seems like that to me, from what I've gathered.
