With me personally, I always thought Taehyun was bi. I don't think he is the kind of person who would "bother" with fake dating in the public eye, I just think he didn't care to hide it. Idk, I don't see why his relationship would not be real.

I'm not sure how it is in Korea, but in the US and UK, it's often the company that organizes PR relationships. Actors and musicians have talked about how their companies pressured them into it, or at least tried to. I imagine in Korea, since companies feel comfortable outright banning people from dating at all, they probably wouldn't have a problem coercing them into fake dating when it's convenient.

Taehyun is the CEO of his own company so this really wouldn't be the case

I have a lot of issues with "girl crush" concepts because it basically takes girls groups and makes them more "masculine" for a concept (your first example for a concept like this would be girls wearing suits, something that is inherently connected to males by most cultures.). Which I have a lot of issues with due to the implication that being sweet, cute, etc. is lesser and that to be "empowered" you need to take on masculine qualities but I'll save that rant for another time.

 

But girl crush concepts also almost always have an underlying lesbian vibe to them as well. For example, I've seen a ton of people label Red Velvet's Bad Boy mv a girl crush concept but the thumbnail for the video is all of them laying on top of each other in a bed.

 

The song was written by men and the video was directed by men as well so that's where it personally gets sketchy to me.

 

Edit: I also went back and watched that video and there is a lot of the girls cuddling and whispering in bed.

If I, as a woman had to pin a concept made for the male gaze/based on mens' wants, it would be cute concepts, not girl crush concepts. Girls crush concepts are for us. Forced cuteness is what a lot of het men desire and ask for. Idk where you got this from, but girl crush concept get less support from men and more support from wlw in general. Forcing female idols to use unaturally high and cute voices and act like way younger girls than they are is pandering to the male crowd, not the other way round.

I want to preface this by clarifying that I am by no means shipping them, just thought this was interesting.

Kenta and Donghan from Produce 101 are so close and both of them have had gay rumors. I think they're really close friends and don't want to speculate beyond that, but I find their interactions interesting.

Just as a refresher, Donghan went to an all boys school and this was his graduation photo.

It was later revealed that the classmate who left those kiss marks on him for the photo was Golden Child's Jibeom.

I think that's really cool. Donghan was the touchiest out of all JBJ members and even in Broduce he was collecting men left and right.

He took every opportunity to hug, kiss and cuddle with his members, especially Kenta, hence why they had so many shippers at the time. I don't like shipping because we're talking about real people here so I don't want to comment on that because it's usually nonsense, two people can just look in the same direction and people will ship them and I'm not about that.

If anyone remembers this legendary performance, a lot of people shipped Eunki and JungJung from Broduce, but after the show ended, Eunki was seen a lot on solo outings with Kenta, at clubs, cafes etc. and people started thinking there was something between them.

 

 

I remember when these photos came out (creepy stalkers took them), Broduce twitter was in shambles.

After they stopped hanging out together as much and interacting altogether for a while, there was even speculation that Kenta left Eunki for Donghan, because, of course there was, shippers exist. Later on, Eunki and Kenta were on more amicable terms again and it really looked like they rekindled their friendship. I always saw Donghan and Kenta's interactions as the two of them being perhaps similar and understanding each other. If Eunki and Kenta really had a thing, it would explain a lot because it always seemed to me like Donghan was doing his best to be there for Kenta and comfort him but I don't feel comfortable speculating beyond that.

But what I find interesting is how Donghan's family has basically adopted Kenta. Donghan's older brother calls Kenta by their last name and teases him and Donghan.

They still hang out together and are really close. I don't think they're dating (though the brother made me side eye all of them), but I think both of them are not straight.

Also, three years ago the two of them went together to Japan to visit Kenta's mom alone.

 

Kenta's mom called herself Donghan's Japanese mom, the same way Donghan's brother calls Kenta by their last name.

Kenta's mother was a wonderful woman who raised him to be a good man and she passed away last year from a chronic illness.

I've always had a soft spot for Jaebeom because he grew up in an abusive household and his birth father was a real man's man (actually a bully and very abusive towards him and his mother) and I think that explains a lot of his issues with touchiness, masculinity and so on. There are things he should work on but I don't think those things mean he's questioning (maybe he is, we don't know) and especially that he's homophobic (I don't think he's homophobic, he recommended LGBTQ+ movies from time to time, is friends with Hong Seok Cheon and went to dinners with him and posted about it, he supports MRSHLL vocally, etc.). I also want to say that his step father is a lovely man who helped him and his mom a lot from what we know publicly and treats them so nicely.

He never spoke out about the details directly, but there's been snippets from him here and there and some cryptic things he said were alluding to it, too. There's long been rumors about it. It's pretty clear how different it is when he talks about his father and stepdad. Fans know, but rarely speak about it. The whole fandom calls his stepdad "daddy Lim" and think of him fondly.

I actually didn't come this for that, but just adding it to my post.

 

The real person I'm here for is IMFACT's Ungjae (new stage name HELLOGLOOM). Back when IMFACT was active and especially in the early days, he was discussed a lot here for the things he himself has said.

He has a company now called The Faker Club with Raehwan and Sulju.

They also have a really cool clothing line along with the music they release, but I think it's interesting the kind of concepts Raehwan and Ungjae are releasing together without Sulju and the way their relationship is.

They're always together and go on "business trips" together and they've been like this even before they joined forces.

I took the photos from each of their accounts and the company account.
