You seem to have the same thoughts as me with regards to Kai. Yup yup, us DBSK stans know what's up with SM (never trust them newbies!!). SM has absolutely no reason to do "favors" for their idols by letting them have a real public relationship. They're way too calculative for that. 

 

Reverse Yunho is what I've been trying to explain here. Sexy on-stage, and comes off as non-straight off stage. That's Kai. Unfortunately, most people don't look beyond the stage. And his fangirls deliberately blind themselves to his real life persona, since they actually prefer Kai to Jongin (I've seen most of them admit to that in OH and Youtube), which is why too many people insist that he's straight.

 

Also, Kai has told before that he found his "sexy" concept difficult at first. That he didn't like/want it.  He mastered his sexy image of course, but only on stage. He's bad at acting otherwise, which comes through when he's off-stage when he starts talking. No wonder he's almost always quiet and closed-off. Actually, in a country like Korea, I don't really think straight guys would be so close to an lgbt group of friends. Acquaintances, yes. Close friends, definitely not. The stigma is too much. There was this Korean poster (who was posting here back in 2014 I think) who said Kai was first taken into notice in the LGBT fandom because of his pre-debut friends (who are still his only friends). 

 

 

Ah Xiuhan. Reminds me of me and my best friend at uni. One of those friendships that had all the right undertones. Could have been more, given the chance. Did Xiuhan have the chance though? I've always wondered. Luhan's in China now, so I'm guessing now? Which is a shame really, they had the perfect relationship (the "us against the world" kind).

 

A couple could be real, but it's never revealed for no reason. Behind the scenes, something is going on.

Even with Kai/Krystal, Krystal had her drama with Lay going on and NCT debuted not long after the news was released. May be a coincidence, may not be.

 

That's sad to hear because Kai seems very cute offstage. Goes to show that even a superficial image works.

He is terrible at acting though, I noticed that, too. His face just gives everything away lol. Poor kid.

It does seem unusual for a straight guy to have a bunch of suspected lgbt friends, especially in a conservative place. It's not impossible, but it's unlikely. Like I said, there's a lot of times a group of lgbt friends will stick together. Who better would relate to the stresses of being anything but straight in a place where it's social suicide to admit it?

 

Xiumin and Luhan have the kind of relationship where, if I knew them personally, I'd gag from the sugary sweetness and ask when the wedding was. They kinda reminded me of Heechul and Hankyung, actually. Luhan and Heechul always pushing their bff into the spotlight so they wouldn't be ignored, hanging around them and supporting them a lot, being super fucking obvious that they're head over heels for them.

Ok, I wouldn't mind seeing them. I'm a Chen fan and he seems straight to me. He's fine with skinship, etc, but he has very clear boundaries and starts looking deeply uncomfortable when they're pushed too far, from what I've noticed.

Second of all, there are few things I would like to disagree on.
 

1)  That what's really interesting. Ofcourse SM could stage everything from the "pre-scandal" to the cctv pictures. SM is the biggest entertaiment company in Korea. The are really powerful. But no, REALLY powerful. They basicaly can do whatever they want. "pre-scandal rumours" can be very easily created by SM itself. You really don't think someone so huge as SM doesn't have their own internet "trolls". And by trolls I mean dozens or maybe hundreds of employees to kind of control what's going on on the Internet, and to explore trends and the kind of attitude fans have towards their idols.
The scandal can't happened out of nowhere. Because that would be itself, very suspicious. And I would like to remind you that "pre-rumours" happened right after gay rumours popped out. To me, the "pre-rumours" was just SM preparing ground for the "news". And yes, ifans knew about that rumours too.

2) They have in fact, similar personalities, they have known each other for a long time and have trained/worked together for about 10 years. But just right now, when they both are completly busy, both of them are out of Korea half a year, they magically fell in love and decide to date when they can date like one day in the month. This is kind of bull-crap that maybe 11 years old girls believe, tho' I have my doubts before today 11 years olds are smarter than that.
And a lot of people tend to forget about legit and confirmed beyond any doubt insider post from 2012 that clearly stated that at some point Kai and Krystal will be paired together, and will be announced to be dating. The same thing was for Baekhyun and Taeyeon.
And guess what?!
Ta-dah!

 

So yeah, I think you didn't study every single reasons supposed to prove kaistal is fake.

I was quite shocked when I watched this because it's the only time I've ever seen an idol mention the topic of dating within groups. Ofc it came from a SJ member, the kings of fanservice. Also Leeteuk seems way more open-minded about gay stuff than Siwon lmao

 

I'm not sure if Xiuchen's reactions were genuine or if they said he "went too far" because there actually is/was a case like that in EXO?

Would Leeteuk be bold enough to bring that topic up if he knew about any couples within SM groups?

Leeteuk knows all. He even admitted himself that the company knows he knows too much. He's probably seen a lot of shenanigans, too, being SuJu's leader for so long. Can't say I envy him...

 

 

I really dislike this whole "SM only reveals fake couples" narrative going on here. 

Like maybe Baekyeon was fake, maybe Kaistal is fake(although I 100% believe that they are really dating) but the only reasoning I get here is because "Chanbaek is real" and "Kaisoo is real". I know they are the two most popular ships in EXO, but really? How many couples do you think there are within EXO?

Tomorrow maybe Dispatch will reveal that Suho is dating some woman and people here might be all "NO this is 200% fake Suho is gay af did you see that one thing he did with Lay that one time?!!"  (fyi this is just a random example)

Like I agree that the Baekyeon thing was totally staged but it really shouldn't come down to disregarding every couple SM confirms, I don't believe dating within the same group occurs THAT often. And this is coming from a former Kaisoo shipper.

I know there are many who will disagree with me but I just had to say this.

 

 

I agree that fans turning the blinders on because of shipping is a problem, but I disagree that this is the sole reason people doubt them and it's irksome when people always try to spin skepticism into a shipping thing. I simply don't trust entertainment companies and what comes out of their mouths, a side effect of spending too long following them, perhaps. Even the more reputable ones have many dark secrets lying beneath the surface. Fans will openly question the reasons when a member of a group leaves and such, but when it comes to dating, suddenly everything must always be true. Certain ones I believe, and certain ones I don't believe, just like with everything else they say.

 

Personally, none of those 4 pairings mean anything to me. I'm not their fan. But if I see a pattern emerging about SM's revealing of in-company couples, why not bring it up?

The sites also talk about it just having to do with feeling stressed or worried,  not necessarily lying. There are a number of reason, obvious ones at that, that would make Chen feel this way. It could be because it struck near home, or he just doesn't want to delude fans anymore than they already do. But that begs the question of why they are so fan-service friendly? They be shipping themselves half the time, but I guess, they only prefer it when they do it? idk.

 

EDIT:although, out of the two of them Xiu has always come off as the one pushing their ship more. But even then, Chen always seems to meet him half way.

 

Chen fan here- awkwardly smiling and rubbing/scratching his neck when he's uncomfortable with what's being said is a habit of his. Seen it a lot with him. Could be doing it because the thought of it is weird to him, could be doing it because he's seen some shit. Could be both, even.

hm... can't say I disagree. Chen tbh comes off as very straight to me, compared to the rest of the members. I just thought I should present another side from that one, seeing as it is the first conclusion that people would be drawn to that the subject itself just made him uncomfortable. 

 

As far as I've seen he's a straight dude, but doesn't mind physical contact or fanservice actions, as long as they don't go too far. I have seen him get visibly uncomfortable when that happens. His reaction is always consistent.

 

For the record, I don't think he has a problem with anyone being gay. He seems very fond of the probably not straight members of the group. At the same time, if there indeed is/was a couple(s) in EXO, I imagine it must have let to some awkward moments for him a few times. There's only so many dicks a straight man can see in his lifetime.

It'll be a never-ending topic with sarcasm thrown at us if we even hint that companies lie, A LOT. But that's not my problem, people have their opinions, and it doesn't affect me in any way. 

 

Well...that's why I think images are bullshit, and they hinder the whole kpop experience for me. You only get to see who they really are if you dig really really deep. Korea is homophobic, and I don't think the straight kpop idol population is much different. With all the competition, I wouldn't be surprised if lgbt idols stick realllyyy close together. It must be tough, being different in an already stressful environment. 

Ex: look at Jaejoong's clique. Or Heechul's. The pattern repeats itself. 

 

Sugary sweetness. Imao. So true...Luhan was so freaking obvious. Dude had a massive crush, and I'm sure pretty much everyone agrees (some think its a bro crush, that's the only difference).   Xiumin was the saner one, but the affection wasnt any less on his side either. Cuties, both of them. Always sticking together, going out every chance they get. I didn't want to talk about them, coz I get sad...ah well, I really hope they still meet/talk over the phone/something. 

 

It's a little concerning to me that this is the case, especially considering what we discuss here, but people who have made up their minds probably won't be convinced otherwise. Not gonna break my back trying lol

 

Even outside of idol culture, like-minded people tend to stick together. Of course, you can have many lgbt friends and be straight, but it's not hard for me to believe someone with a lot of lgbt friends could be lgbt themselves, especially in a country or region where it's much more stressful to not be straight.

Thanks for the link! Wow, it's even more interesting in motion. Chen's reaction is typical for him- he always has that "pls I rlly don't wanna think about that" face whenever someone says/does too much. Xiumin though... Xiumin is really uneasy- he keeps moving around and fidgeting and even his voice sounds stiff. Very interesting. Even if I was completely unfamiliar with EXO, their reactions are indeed telling me there has been in-group dating, whether or not either of them were involved with any shenanigans themselves.

The only thing I am uncomfortable with is that there is no room for a new opinion. That's now how it should be, especially in things we don't know 100% about. I've had conversations (here and elsewhere) with people I didn't agree with (not even 1%), and neither of us put each other down. If it's all just speculation, every aspect of situation should be discussed. But I understand a good many are still growing up (makes me feel old now) and they'll learn later. So ya, me too. Not gonna break my back trying to get people to play good. :P

I'm still amazed by the mental fortitude that guy has to be an out celebrity in South Korea of all places. I see a lot of fans who ask why speculate on a celebrity's sexuality at all because it doesn't matter and it's their own business. While it's certainly true that it is their business and that it shouldn't matter, the fact is that it does matter when being lgbt is something people still commit suicide over. Remember the actor, Kim Jihoo, who killed himself over the backlash of coming out as gay?  Or even Tony Hong himself, whose parents told him to commit suicide with them after coming out.

As another poster and I were discussing before though, is it really that strange for Luhan to visit his Korean friends from time to time? He seemed like he didn't leave EXO on bad terms.

It isn't strange at all, in my opinion. Actually, from my understanding he's the member who left in the most peaceful way, seems to have the nicest relationship with EXO overall, and probably keeps some sort of contact with them. The next is Kris, and the last is Tao, who left the group with the baddest terms I think. Luhan probably met up with the members for several times, there's even some pics and also rumors about him being seen with them. The EXO members I think he met up with: Xiumin, Sehun, Suho, Chanyeol. Maybe someone else as well.

 

 

Anyways, these times when Luhan goes to Korea gets people really crazy   Three whole groups of peeps: Shippers, Lufans and Luhan antis. The first ones start the most ridiculous speculations, more or less, and I'd tolerate that, if not that mess they create in Sehun's and Luhan's SNS which is ....disrespectfully tragic (and then they be surprised why people call them out on their behavior, but let's not talk about that) The second and last ones mixed are getting in that heating discussion about what kinda deal he has in Korea, which circulates from seeing a woman (which even leaded to some tea exposure and constant speculation) to his prospective personal reasons like work. Lmao like every times he flies there, new rumors pop up. Most of them are made up though, some are at least believable.

Everyone who follows Exo should know Kris is the one who left in worst terms. He didn't tell anyone, left right before their 1st concert, they had to rearrange everything they had practiced for the concert with little time.

Fans were irrationally mad at Tao for leaving, it was fans not the members. There was no indication of bad blood between Tao and Exo members, that's fandom made up narrative.

 

 

 

On topic, I haven't seen any evidence of Luhan meeting with any Exo member when he goes to Korea. If Luhan would meet anyone I would think it would be Xiumin, since they seemed to have the closest relationship, not Sehun.

Sorry for being too blunt but it takes another level of delusion to see hunhan as a real couple. I mean, anyone can ship whatever but those videos with all these nonexistent hints are just cringeworthy. I don't think Luhan is gay btw.

If Luhan did visit Sehun, who is to say that he didn't visit any of the other members? Like why and how does it mean Hunhan is real?

 

Depends which members and how they left, probably. It was obvious many of them felt betrayed by Kris' departure from EXO. Yunho and Changmin with JYJ, also. Luhan and Tao, not so much.

I kinda agree with all of you about Baekhyun, but I'm interested what do you think about his dreams of his future family? I can't find this interview right now, but some time ago he gave an inteview where he talk about his dream family, and this is the most basic heteronormative family portrait that can be tbh    I'm afraid to lie to y'all, but he was talking about pretty housewife and him being the breadwinner and such (correct me if I'm wrong). And tbh, he always kinda tries to imply that he wants girlfriend, "normal" family and sometime he seems uncomfortable with gay stuff (usually when he is not who initiated it).

So my question: is he

a) latent gay/bi and don't want to/afraid to accept this and that's why he feels uncomfortable sometimes and says "straight" things

b) gay/bi but trying to hide it pulling hetero shit, and he feel uncomfortable in some situations just because he is shy or flustered? (Isn't it logical for gar person to feel uncomfortable when other man makes gay "jokes" or violate personal space? I would act the same with men giving me attention, flirting with me or joking about it, ect.)

c) straight af and all these gay stuff is because he is super comfortable with his sexuality and acts like this for fans' fun?  (sounds doubtful)

I forgot the name of the actress, but when her sex tape got leaked, exactly this happened in Korea

There was that rumor going around that a news outlet was going to release a gay idol couple, but they were paid off and it got buried by the company. Don't know if it's true or not, but it makes you wonder.

About Sehun, if he is gay which I have no doubt in I am sure that he is definetely out to Suho, Chanyeol, Baekhyun and Xiumin. I would guess that the first members he came out to are Suho and Chanyeol considering how open minded Suho is and how much of bros Chan and Sehun are.

 

Yoooooo if we suspect he's gay and we're just outsiders, there's no way the members of EXO haven't picked up on it by now lol.
