I talked to the person who told me about the Lady Gaga poster in the first place, and they said that they know for sure there was a picture where you could clearly see a Lady Gaga poster on the wall. They even said that they know for sure there were some fansites that had posted the pictures before, but when they checked the fansite accounts now, the pictures aren't there anymore. It's like they've been wiped off the Internet. So make of that what you will.

With regards to the whole "homosexuality in ancient times" thing, there's some stuff I found interesting.

 

King Gongmin and King Mokjong of Goryeo Dynasty had male lovers in their courts, as well as King Hyegong of Silla Dynasty - Hyeyong was actually killed in the 780 rebellion because his subordinates thought he was too effeminate to be a good ruler. There's less information on female homosexuality, but King Sejong's daughter-in-law from the Joseon dynasty slept with her maid.

 

Hwarangdo are also cited as evidence of homosexuality - here, here and here.

 

As well as this, you can see evidence of homosexual/bisexual poets, albeit in more recent times. Han Yong-Un is a poet I was introduced to because iKon's Junhoe recommended him, and this is his most famous poem. Putting it under the spoiler:

He never "officially" came out because he was born in 1879 (plus he had two wives) so who knows. I just thought it was interesting.

 

In my opinion I think homosexuality was very natural in ancient times - however I have heard some people say that commoners in Korea looked down on homosexuality because it was seen as more of a "rich people" thing, something that you could only partake in if you had wealth and power. There isn't a lot of evidence of homosexuality for poorer people as they likely didn't know how to read/write as well and they weren't seen as important enough to have records written about them.

 

I think that homosexuality became more looked down on when the presence of religion started rising. The same can be said of when Christian missionaries started travelling to sub-saharan Africa, as homosexuality was common in tribes there but due to Christianity a more "anti-homosexuality" attitude started rising. Similar to how homosexuality in India was more celebrated before British colonizers came and started to again push more of an anti-homosexuality attitude.

And Jinhwan is... Hm, I still remember the bearding they used at the beginning of iKon, the rumor of him and a gal dating.... Kinda reminded me of Jaejoong's bearding, also at the beginning of DBSK.... But that doesn't mean they're hot for each other tho. For all we know they could be dating a non-idol in their friend-circles each.

Jinhwan isn't straight imo, I wouldn't be surprised if he and Junhoe had a FWB relationship with each other due to some of the stuff they said about each other in like 2016. I was wondering if anyone could tell me their thoughts on stigma. I read it as being about being lgbt, but I thought I was just being hopeful (I’m lgbt and find comfort in songs about being lgbt, whether their sad like stigma or happy, and whether it’s the intended message or not). I’m not good at expressing my thoughts on it though, so I’d be interested to read other people’s interpretations and thoughts on the song

It's actually a pretty popular opinion in this thread that Stigma is a LGBT song. I know straight people have come up with alternative theories about the lyrics but in my opinion the theory that makes the most sense is that it's about him being gay. Especially as the lyrics are very gay-coded - "are you calling me a sinner", "even if I try to hide it or conceal it, it can't be erased", "please illuminate my sins", "please let me be punished, please forgive me for my sins" and so on. I even saw a theory saying that it's a song about how he killed someone. The mental gymnastics straight people do, I swear.  

I also think it's a gay song because iirc when Namjoon did that V-live on all of the songs on the Wings album, Stigma was the only song that he didn't explain as he said something along the lines of "it's Taehyung's personal song". Taehyung also wrote the majority of the song and only asked Namjoon to help with the English lyrics. Plus I also think Singularity is a LGBT song, this coupled with the fact that Taehyung wrote a gay Christmas song with Jimin and refused to make it heterosexual so that it could be released, I wonder if we'll start to see Taehyung push the envelope even more. 

 

Also just an anecdote, when I had just started to get into BTS (and k-pop in general as they were the first group I stanned), I watched the lyrics video for Stigma and after watching it, I went on Google and typed in "is bts v gay?", which is what brought me to this thread!

To be honest I don't really see Taeyong as bi (or asexual like I know some people here believe)...he's so obviously gay that I'm questioning whether this is another Sehun Caseâ„¢, where people label him as bi just because they're attracted to him or don't want to believe that he's gay lol. In my opinion he's done a lot of things to show that he's solely attracted to men:

 

• That interview answer @pizzatopping posted where he said "I like girls who wear boyish clothes. When we become friendly, I want us to be able to share our clothes"
• His line in Whiplash - “My momma says to meet a nice girl/I have good taste though / A nerd with a soft girly heart/ And I need someone to tame me". This is the only mention of femininity in all of his raps (I think), where it’s not referring to himself. I also remember seeing that he writes most of his raps, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
• Said his ideal type is "someone who can teach me, lead me"
• Also said later on “I like someone who can lead me as I am quite delicate on the insideâ€

• Q: When will you date? A: To be honest I don’t have much interest in the opposite sex. [...] I was at an all-boys high school before I transferred to a school for performing arts. At that time too I had no interest in the opposite sex, and oddly I found that being around guys was more comfortable?

I saw this when it came out but I have no idea why it's making the rounds on Twitter now lol.

 

Anyway when I saw this I was actually kinda upset, it was a bit uncomfortable to watch tbh. I personally believe that Hanbin is bi and I think him coming out to his mother may actually have been his way of testing the waters to see her reaction to it. I mean, the mission was to get her to say "heol", but he could have said a number of different things, such as "I left YG" or something, so I think it's interesting that he chose to go for that specific thing.

 

I also found it interesting that the other two members I think are gay/bi, Junhoe and Jinhwan, weren't reacting as much as the other members. Jinhwan was honestly like a statue, he didn't move or say a single word.

 

And coupled with other homophobic things Bobby has said really recently ("how can there be an 18+ scene if it's just men", this video where he got uncomfortable with Hanbin liking skinship - starting around 2:00

) this sort of stuff has kind of made me become an akgae of the gay line LOL. Anyways I'm like 99% sure Hanbin is nonhet and I hope if he did come out to his mother in the future then she would have a good reaction.

If he had a crush on bobby or not I could see the anxiety/pain/awkwardness in his eyes. The way he just looked around the room he looked worried. The guy closet to Junhoe on the left seemed a bit upset for him. He seemed like he was forcing a laugh because it was awkward. He looked worried as he was looking at Junhoe. I don’t really listen to ikon but from that video alone that’s what I observed.

The guy on the left is Jinhwan, his best friend. They're really close irl and I think Jinhwan is part of the community as well.

 

And yeah, the whole Junhoe/Bobby thing is such a mess lmao. Junhoe literally started developing feelings for him in like 2014/2015 and it's only in these last few months of 2018 that they've become less awkward with each other. You can see it in videos like this:

Well well well..

 

When I first got into iKon I even commented to a few people outside of this thread that Bobby always seemed like he would be down to "experiment" with a guy, but I never expected him to say anything like this. Due to the tragically heterosexual things he's said recently, I'm more inclined to believe that he's straight but I'll definitely be keeping my eye on him to see if he says any more stuff like this.

I've been thinking about this and I can't remember any time Bobby ever said anything homophobic.  He's very involved with his church and most Protestant denominations in Korea tend to be on the ultra-conservative end of the spectrum and homophobic so he would have been exposed to that all his life. Of course it doesn't necessarily mean anything about his own opinions.

Bobby doesn't post much online but he does make religious references once in a while:

 

 

I noticed quite a few non-fans see iKON as a bunch of straight fuckboys.  I'm not sure how they got that reputation but it is undeserved. GOT7 get this treatment too, despite the fact that both groups seem to have some gay members. 

Just some things I've picked up:

 

In their most recent Weekly Idol episode he said "how can we manage R-rated scenarios with only males? Is that possible?", Bobby saying that he doesn't like how Hanbin reacts towards to his skinship and even said "don't touch me!" in

(sidenote but I wonder if he suspects that Hanbin likes men lmao), talking about Hanbin's skinship in 2017, "Hanbin really likes skinship but he's a guy so it's a bit...", this interview where he again talked about how Hanbin's skinship makes him uncomfortable lmao. Plus that video where he was laughing at Hanbin's coming out prank, but we'll put that to the side because that implicates literally all of the members apart from Junhoe and Jinhwan.

 

Despite all of this I do actually quite like Bobby and I think he's a good guy, especially when I see stuff like this. It's just that as a lesbian stan, there have been times where some of his comments have left me like  . But I hope that all of this is just to do with ignorance, and hopefully as he gets older he'll stop making comments like this.

yikes i feel kinda bad because the tweet i posted of taeil poking winwin's butt has kinda started a debate, but i read the replies and you guys definitely have some good points, if someone says no regardless of age, whether your intentions are romantic or justa friend thing or otherwise, it means no. i’m reslly sorry if anyone is upset with me for posting it, i honestly didn’t see it that way, but thanks for pointing it out.

 

it has made me think though, quite a few idols still touch each other even when one members says no or is uncomfortable. so i hope you don’t think it’s just a taeil thing, it’s something a lot of idols need to be taught about.

 

i was also thinking, it’s kinda hypocritical that (not saying you guys do this, just fans in general) people act like it’s super cute that haechan touches and kisses his members even when they say no, but i have never seen anyone call him out for it like taeil is being called out. what’s the difference? i hate to think that it’s because haechan is young and people see him as cute so they think he can’t do any harm. mark says no to haechan and is clearly uncomfortable with some of the things he does, yet people see it as cute. it’s the same situation as taeil and winwin.

 

anyway, i do agree with what you’ve been saying about taeil, though as an nct fan i hope you guys don’t hate him now. he really is sweet and someone the older members look up to and everyone makes mistakes. we can only hope that he gets educated and respects winwins space from now on. same goes with yuta with winwin and haechan with mark.

In my opinion, there's a notable difference in how Haechan treats Mark versus how Taeil treats Winwin. From what the other members told us, Mark actually reciprocates Haechan's skinship behind the scenes and even with the other members, Mark only seems to shy away from doing a lot of skinship with them when there's a camera in front of him - I think it was Doyoung who said in a NCT Life episode that Mark actually enjoys skinship behind the scenes (which altogether makes Mark a very interesting guy because it makes me wonder if he has a fear of being perceived as gay). Therefore I would say that the whole thing between Mark and Haechan is just Haechan being the little shit he is (I say this with love btw, Haechan is my bias) and purposefully trying to rile up Mark in front of the cameras because he knows it gets on his nerves. But obviously correct me if I'm wrong, and if I think things between them get a more creepy vibe then I will obviously change my opinion.

 

Imo Taeil seems to act really creepy towards Winwin. Just some things I've noticed over the past months:

• Winwin said he likes Jaehyun because Jaehyun doesn't touch him
• Said he hangs out in Jaehyun's room more than his own room because "the WiFi is better" but lbr it's probably because he wants to get away from Taeil
• For the two above reasons Taeil seems to be kinda jealous of Jaehyun, recently Winwin was talking about how he goes out a lot with Jaehyun and Taeil looked pissed
• That video of Taeil trying to kiss Winwin and Winwin pushing him away
• Winwin saying that he likes Mark because "Mark is safe"
• Doyoung said he had a serious conversation with Taeil about Taeil being in love with Winwin - starts around 38:00

So after getting nothing from Sehun and Chefsuke for like 6 months (bar Chefsuke posting EXO's recent album on his Instagram a day after it came out), today he posted this:

 

 

From Chanyeol's and Suho's Instagrams we know that today they went to see Kyungsoo's new movie and seeing as, well, Chefsuke is at the exact same location as them, I think it's extremely likely Chefsuke went to watch Kyungsoo's movie with Sehun and the other EXO members.

 

I'm glad to see that they're still doing well, as I'm not used to long droughts from them like I am with Suhohwan, so around August I started to think that maybe they had broken up or something. Happy to see that's not the case!
