I thought Sungmin was gay from the very first second I noticed him. However, Sungmin of older days was totally different to what Sungmin is now.

 

At some point he started to have an issue with being considered unmanly. It's something that clearly bothered him. There was this growing dissonant between what he said he wanted to be perceived as and what the company was fashioning for him, which was a flower boy.

 

Heechul kissing him on stage bothered him to the point he didn't talk to Heechul for months. Maybe it had nothing to do with sexual orientation and more about what kind of male he wanted to be considered as, who knows.

A lot of people convinced he is gay, but somehow I always get different vibe from him, like the vibe I get is that he's capable of lusting after women and can date them.

I personally think he's swinging both ways, like I can see him dating woman and creating scandal for it- including hysterical fans plus sasaeng, but that's another story.

Also, i wouldn't put much weight on his "confession" in interviews, we all know by now that gay-baiting is the standard for boy groups and most of the time even the PR is created around the idea that allow their teenage fans to ship a same-sex pair.

and it's not unusual for male idols to pretend like they don't care about girls- you see them on shows standing awkwardly with the girl idols as if they're different species and as if they're not capable of socializing with the opposite gender, fans wouldn't like to see them being friendly or appear chummy with the girls and watch every glances and smiles like detectives scrutinizing evidence. When in reality it's "animal kingdom" and idols do date around(maybe even have benefit arrangements too, or quickie on the side?), sometimes in combinations that we probably never knew of.

Maybe I was wrong, but my hunch is that he's not as gay as some would like to believe.

 

Out of topic, but when I first started getting into KPOP and watching interviews and such, I was so incredibly surprised by the way male idols and female idols interacted with each other on camera. Very surprised. Like children who are forced to socialize and do it to please their teachers, lol. 

 

I found it to be so strange (still is, for me at least) but it kinda makes sense because most fans think the idol is "theirs" and fans need to be pleased so they can purchase albums and more. And the companies do not help because they market the heck out of that to make money...

When I was getting into kpop, I was blown away by how much of the idols you're given, or rather the intensity of their fan service culture. Like, I've crushed on just about every celebrity in America at some point and combed through youtube for every one of their interviews, but I'd never experienced just being handed hours upon hours of footage of my crushes sleeping, being forced into costumes, playing gay, kissing each other and entwining their bodies together in beds, eating, being pranked in all manner of humiliating awkwardness, being put in pretty much any wild situation can think of, just literally sitting around quietly doing absolutely nothing with no makeup or good clothes on... It almost felt like how a good tv show will explore every possible dynamic of its fictional characters, except... these were real people in real life

 

This doesn't add much to your post, I just mean to agree with you that the idol industry is totally an evil overlord harvesting the 'this idol is mine' sentiment inspired in a lot of fangirls to grow its power

I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out not to be this super hetero dudebro that most of the fandom thinks he is. I don't really have any proof or evidence for this, I've just met guys before that seemed so hetero only to turn out to be as far from straight as it gets.

Idk anything about NCT but I think some people here should tread carefully about sexual harassment accusations. It's a serious matter, don't treat it as you would with ships with all the over-analyzing and conjecture. It's entirely possible you could be misreading the situation, what we see on camera is really very flimsy evidence.  

 

Look, this is very delicate. I don´t even know what to think. Partially because I see things and then I go on about my life and I mostly don´t think about most stuff unless I really really like it or if it has caused an impact on me. 

 

This will sound very weird...

 

When I was in highschool (sophomore year, I think) I remember I was always touching one of my male best friend´s leg, butt, neck... Everything except his member, lol. And he would do the same with me, but it was in front of the entire classroom and it was a game. Who touched more without actually touching a boob or a member? Sounds crazy, I know. This only happened in public, in front of a lot of people. If we were only by ourselves, we would talk, play on our mobiles or whatever. But he never touched me without my consent and I never did it without his consent. It was fun and we´re both perverts so it was ok, but it was CONSENSUAL.

 

Now, I give this example so you can sense what a consensual touching situation (?) could be like as opposed to one like Win Win always saying out loud that he does not like skinship. Not the best example, but...

 

It is true Win Win has said that he doesn´t like skinship many many times and Tael is always overdoing it and it´s awkward (but it comes off as funny sometimes because the other members would laugh it off). I feel like he has toned it down a bit but let´s hope he COMPLETELY stops unless Win Win initiates the skinship.

 

But again, this is a very serious matter and I´m no expert.

 

When I say "don´t touch me" nobody does so I hope more idols would stop as well regarding the ships their company has pushed onto us.

I wanted to to make a post talking about all of the members that I  think that are LGBT+ in the groups I follow, starting with NCT that gets so much of my attention. But this would take so much of time, so I decided to start with some and keep going as informations were keep coming up. 

 

The first I wanna talk is about Doyoung, cause I found some things about him that I never saw anyone talking before. I'm just going to put the informations first.

 

 

1. In school, in 2013 he coordinated a choral presentation of Poker face from Lady Gaga. The pronoums weren't changed and they used masks. I found this interesting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. The other thing that I found is nothing that is really telling in my opinion, but everything can be relevant. He is very interested in make up and hair styling, and pretty skillful in both.

 

In the Halloween party video, when Jungwoo is having his hair styled, Doyoung is helping in doing it for him with others 2 stylists. (

it's in the first 25 seconds.). And I've seen in other video the members saying that he is really good in doing this. 

 

He also came to a tv show, where the idols had to make up a women (I think all of them were idols or professionals) and he was REALLY good since the first. He knew all the products, the better way to apply, the right brush, how to chose the colors, paying attention to the face detail like distance between the eyebrows...

 

Some other idols (like Johnny) didn't even knew how to identify what he were suppose to use to start with. The parallel was funny.

But again, I really don't know how to interpretate the make up thing. From the way I see seems natural, normal, just a personal interest. But I shared cause I wanted to see if would have some different thoughts.

 

This things bellow are not much about sexuality itself but speaks a lot about his personality, and background story, wich is also important since he seems to be very reserverd and carefull with how much he exposes of himself, staying hard to read. And I wanted to talk about it.

 

3. Doyoung is clearly someone acceptive. He made it very clear in that live where he said that could be a relationship between boy/girl, girl/girl, boy/boy and stayed pretty chill. That got me surprised when I saw it, not only for the responde of Doyoung, but also what Yuta said before not assuming that was a straight relationship, and the lack of reaction of Lucas and Jungwoo.

4. He come from a family that seems to be extremely supportive. His older brother is the actor Gong Myung (that is rumored to be gay. I wanna know more about this btw) that in the past played a role of a musian who had a relationship very sus with other boy, (in my opinion the past relation of them were pretty romantic, and the two were lovers, the drama just didn't say that.) and also played a role of a gay boy, and even had a kiss scene.

This is a fanmade, but the scenes in the drama were exactly like that, even the dialogues. The editor just put a song, a filter and a transition effect.

5. Still speaking about his family, he talked a little about his past with his brother in one LieV, and cried saying that when he was younger he used to do whatever he wanted to, but now understand that his family where trying hard to understand him.

 

I personally don't think that this is about his sexuality but thinking with other things that he says makes me think that in the past que had a really bad moment (probably about depression and closing himself to the world). Doyoung has a habit of whenever he has the opportunity to say things like "don't be afraid, the world is big"; "the world is interesting"; "it's okay to have fears, but things are better  than we think". And always highlighting that this come from his self experience.

 

 

I don't know if this is much, but I thought it was worth to talk about. There's others things that can, and deserves to, be talk about when comes to him, like he panicking about johnny's bitting lip, his akwardness around girls, how he mantains a certain distance, and avoids to give what would be interpreted as "much attention", and how he seems to become a little more easy going in the flirting fan service thing since jungwoo's debut (that I'm already conviced he do not treat the same way he treats Jeno, like his little son).

Jungwoo is not shy, he´s just anxious. He has said very openly that he has taken medication before going on stage (at least he took medication before that NCT 2018 event) but he´s not shy.

 

Also, he´s a mystery because he just does a lot of fanservice and he´s funny af when he does that, but it´s not real. There are times when he slips from his "UWU" personna and he seems to have a similar attitude to Yuta. Like, when they are not interested they don´t fake it or they look very bored most of the time. And expresionless.

 

He may be bisexual. 

 

At least that´s my take on his antics.
