since sort of related with hongin...love this dancing9 performance with another male ballroom dancer. even though they were "competing" for the girl, i thought it was kind of progressive for Korea lol.

I can't deny that Hongin's really... stereotypically gay? Behind the scenes, he's flamboyant and really cute to others, like towards Louoon. His mannerisms are definitely what makes me keep my eyes on him, although he doesn't get talked about much here. Usually people just pay attention to his Chandelier performance, but he constantly gives me the aura of a gay who wants someone to take care of and spoil him.

People may be doubtful because of their young age, but from my experiences, 16 is not too early to come to terms with your sexuality. Jaemin and Jeno... I haven't seen much yet, and their behavior could go both ways, as close bestfriends or more. Jeno actually pings me more than Jaemin sometimes... sometimes.

 

 

Although, one thing to note is that during MMC Jaemin visibly lit up when Sooyoung and Yoona guested in an episode, and one of the SMRookies girls exposed him for liking Tiffany rather than the two. But take this with a grain of salt.

Yes, they look staged, which isn't bad at all, it's what should be taken into consideration. Although pictures like that tend to give me second thoughts about my views on that ship. But it also doesn't mean "created" ships can't be real. We can go on and on discussing if this guy or that guy could be gay, but in the end there's always room for uncertainty because of factors such as 1) Moments can be scripted, 2) Fanservice, 3) Company manufactured ship, 4) Misinterpretation... and then we're back on base 1. I like how people are discussing together about the orientation of their favorite idols, but I would just like to leave a little note and reminder behind.

 

A lot of international fans are always talking about how their "malexmale ship" between two male idols are cannon and that one or both members of the ship are gay, bi or pansexual. However, I'd like to just question why people think this? Are you able to know their orientation because of their APPEARANCE? Because of the way they ACT? Because of their PERSONALITY?

 

1. appearance can help people take note of who is gay/bi/pan but it isn't always that obvious. Sure we had the classic example of Joey Graceffa and his boyfriend, but then we have day to day people that pass by you everyday in the street, halls, etc etc and can YOU describe their sexual orientation just by looking at them?

 

2. The way they act, and their personality can also help see a person's orientation, but with idols we will never know. That is their "on-screen" personality. Some things are just HEAVILY scripted. Unless you know the person yourself, you won't know if this person is acting and pretending or is for real.

 

Now onto the main part of my speech here.

 

I'm a korean girl, who has lived in Korea for quite some part of her teenage life. I'd like to let you know the following

 

1. I'm aware that some of the kpop idols you see are very "feminine" looking and have baby like features. But I'd like to remind you that the majority of the kpop idols that are males that look this "feminine" are usually young. Like around 15-20. Almost all the males that I see in the streets of korea who are that young, and the boys who were also in my class in high school looked "feminine". But after you go into college, you notice that the guys there look much more masculine, and really manly. That's because ASIANS, SPECIFICALLY KOREANS, GO THROUGH PUBERTY AT OLDER AGES

For example, all of EXO. Have you not seen the way that they changed from MAMA to Lotto? A really really good example in Exo would be Sehun, which is a hot topic in this post, no surprise. He debuted at the age of 17, nearly 18, and was a really good example of a kid who was still maturing that so happened to just get shoved into the limelight. People, including those in the post, would say stuff like "Sehun is gay/bi because he's so touchy with the other members. Because Luhan. Because Tao. Because of how feminine he looked"The biggest excuse out of these, was the whole "Sehun is so touchy"

 

NEWSFLASH

koreans are all really really touchy. Like super touchy. to the point that they can bathe together with the same gender. TOGETHER. And this is considered a NORM.

 

It's the way that Koreans communicate. They want to make the other party comfortable, and want to show that they are close with you and feel comfortable around you. It's a norm to just openly cling onto your friends even if you're a male, and your friends are males. It's a norm that you shove one another and just hug each other and cuddle each other, regardless of the fact that you both are the same genders. And, if you want an example; military life.

 

i can't speak for all the international countries out there, but in America, a lot of people always see that girls are the only ones who are touchy with one another and are openly borrowing private things with each other and going to the bathroom together and etc etc. But this is Korea, a different place, and they have different societal norms and expectations in terms of friendships and relationships.

 

And i'd like to end this off with my opinion on Sehun

 

I can bet you everything in the world that Sehun is as straight as an 180 degree angle, and even straighter than a ruler. First off, he's a person who doesn't really use his words; he said so himself that he's a person who can't express himself with words and tend to use actions instead. He wants to show his hyungs that he's close with them, and care for them, so he uses his actions. Then, you got the whole thing about how koreans are just touchy in general. He's actually on the lower scale of the touchy spectrum, compared to what I see and hear about military life and so on. Also the whole "I like men" controversy; that was something that just blew up internationally because y'all got the wrong translations. There's an impact that remains within the language of korean when it comes to these translations. I can't completely explain it, but when people translate them from Korean to english, they always just press out the facts and then miss out the "feel" of the message.

I'm understanding what you're trying to say here, and it's been said several times already, but...

 

If we take everything in consideration, then we would be getting nowhere. Koreans are touchy, sure, they generally mature late, they are quite feminine compared to Americans, sure.

 

But it seems to me like you're just bringing up every known excuse to say Sehun is "straighter than a ruler." So basically, he's automatically straight, every "gay" action he does passes off as the average Korean boy's, because their way of life differs from America's (and any other country other than Korea). You're saying it is impossible to consider Sehun being gay because he's just being the local feminine touchy Korean guy who is completely straight, even though he's currently 22, he's still acting like the straight touchy guy he is. I'm feeling a bit of homophobic vibes from your post, ngl...

 

Seems like we're never going to come to a general consensus until an idol actually comes out as anything but straight.

 

 

Sehun is so far from straight, in my opinion of course.

Dont you ever get tired of "all idols are straight until proven otherwise" and "it is rude to speculate about someones sexuality" mentality? I know i am. I am aware that all this have been said many times but every time i see this bullshit it just throws me off.

 

All those straight girls are being totally inappropriate lusting after idols leaving nasty comments everywhere. Or crazy shippers who even send messages to idols themselves. Noone bats an eye most of the time. But god forbid someone doubts their oppas straightness and it suddenly becomes offensive, rude and inappropriate. So annoying.

 

But what angers me the most are the lowkey homophobic people who hide behind "respecting idols. they are people". So fake.

 

I dont know about everyone here (and hi lurking haters btw) but i personally am invested in this topic not because i dream of having this or that idol for myself. I am too old for this crap. What is important to me is the possibility that some of these people that i adore or admire that they are just like me. A minority. Everything is so damn straight everywhere outside of internet (esp in my country) and its tiring and exausting.

 

This thread is peaceful 90% of the time, pushed in the corner of the forum where people share their opinions. And yet just our simple existence causes hateful comments everywhere on OH. smh

Not sure when this was filmed but at one point Jackson lost some weight because he was self-conscious about his muscular frame. Specifically him being shorter but his legs being so muscular. He felt his legs didn't look right in skinny jeans. Thankfully he has built the muscle in his legs back more. The fans werent having it.

That's really sweet of the fanboy! At one point I used to feel the same way as Jackson about my own body, I'm glad that he's starting to be self loving. But I was talking about the first picture, compared to the second, they photoshopped his legs and made them look too unnaturally skinny. He's very comfortable with skinship it seems. But he's a really cute and immature boy in general, as opposed to Guanlin and Samuel's maturity despite being the same age. I find Seonho and Minhyun's relationship extremely endearing, although it's hard for me to determine whether or not Seonho's interested romantically. He did state that Minhyun is the most handsome to him, so there's that. I was watching the newest vlive from hyunseobg and euiwoong. At the 30 minute mark, hyungseob does aegyo but now here is the tea.

 

Eui did it first and he decided to do aegyo to noonas. But, plottwist it came turn for hyungseob and instead of doing aegyo for noonas, he instead said Hyung will you buy this for me in a whiny voice
