Sure but I was quite fed up with the same people thinking they have the right to claim that all other ships are fanservice, putting out there as if it's a fact but theirs just totally isn't and they're the ones in the right. Also that's why I mentioned it should be avoided and that's not what some people on here do, like it was said above, I don't post things related to my ships either because I know people don't ship them or simply don't care about it. I posted it in the respective ship thread so If I'm considerate, why others can't?

In a way, it would result in constant spamming about different ships and I'm sure that's not what anyone would like, since we're on the subject of general gay talk instead.

this is just my own dumb two cents, but I honestly don't mind pairing talk at all? I haven't spent a lot of time in shipping threads but from what I've seen they are mostly full of excited fangirling (don't get me wrong, I do my fair share of that!!) But here shipping talk is mostly about whether or not two people could /actually/ be in a relationship, which is what I personally find interesting. I also kind of like hearing about ships I don't ship tbh.

 

Also when we discuss idols generally we often end up talking about like, the same five people, lmao. I've said it before, but the best way to get people discussing what you want too discuss is to post about it!!! If you want to talk about some idol or relationship in particular, it's better to just bring it up! How do you know no one else cares about your ships if you don't say anything about them?

gosh I've been meaning to get more into GOT7 so I can't give too much of an opinion on the members individually but I think I've mentioned before that I'm pretty sure Jackson is bi actually, he likes shipping himself with girls just as much as with guys, lmao. He seems pretty equally interested from what I've seen, at least. I think BamBam might be gay too. Mark has always given me a straight vibe but who knows that might change when I watch more of their stuff~ 

 

Also, no matter what Jackson's sexuality is he definitely takes shipping to a whole new level, lmao. I wonder if he was really into kpop before he went to JYP?? He's fluent in English so he would have a lot of exposure to the international fandom and would know what people like, haha. Like, one of the only other idols I know who doesn't mind blatant shipping (with the same gender) or even tagging ships on instagram is Amber, and I always figured that was because she was definitely like, a /kpop fan/ before she got into SM, haha.

i guess doing fanservice on SNS shouldn't be seen as weird or surprising by now, it's far too common imo, i think they all took the timing of fans and how SNS posts are talked about in a lot of aspects, specially how everyone now jokes by comparing every post everyone makes out there... if they know they get some attention, they'll milk it either just for fun or cos they'll get some benefit out of it tbh. I think the sns posts that could be considered to look further into are probably the ones that could potentially be cryptic in some way imo... 

 

Honestly I don't think there's any set way to treat social media, because everyone is different and uses it for different things~ If we treat it as "just fanservice", there's still the argument that couples will be able to hide in plain sight. If we only look for "cryptic messages", people will start to pull things out of their ass even more than they already do, lmao. Sure, there are some who will do cryptic messages, but I definitely don't think that it's the only thing to consider.

 

I think it all depends on the "couple" in question and whether or not they seem like the type to broadcast their relationship, hide it (or at least be cautious), or if they're just friends who like posting pictures together or trolling, lmao. Like we pretty much all agree that Gunheechul don't mind broadcasting their relationship, and some of us feel the same way about Taohun. And then for example there's Jackson and BamBam liking couple things and tagging ship names, or Jonghyun fanboying over Taemin, and while I don't disagree that there's homosexual subtext there lmao I also don't think the couples in question are actually together.

 

When it comes to "hidden messages"/keeping it under the radar, it's a little more opinion-based (which isn't a bad thing lol) but what you see depends on what you ship :P

I don't think much of it either, but it does seem like the two of them might be the closest so I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on the matter. 

Jackson's fanservice is so great though and he seems to genuinely enjoy it, I love it. Plus he's just hilarious in general and has pretty much no filter (especially when he gets to talk in english) so I really hope he goes far. At least internationally he seems to already have a big fanbase~

Trust me when I say the last of my worries is to absolutely prove it's not Tao, think however you like. The idea is that people will just jump to prove and fight back how it's definitely him, because once again it goes as "how dare you think this" by the animosity behind the posts. You can't say it's highly unlikely he won't be with anybody else based just on "updates" either, it's nothing serious enough  to base such theory and they're all at the same place. Same as saying they are attached at the hip, it's the only thing I keep seeing the same people repeat as if insinuating something when it's not exactly the full truth but I digress.

 

We're not fighting to prove it's definitely Tao because we want it to be Taohun, we're proving it's definitely Tao because it is definitely Tao...also you came here with a post trying to prove that it wasn't Tao and then say you weren't trying to prove it wasn't him?? i'm confused.

Jackson Wang. Honestly this guy ships himself with his members. He does so much skinship to the point where I can't take him seriously. I do think he's bisexual though, because he seems very comfortable flirting with both genders.

Besides, the times I have posted something, it got shot down as something of mere fanservice or something that apparently wasn't good enough to fit the standards of some people here. So I think it's best to leave it out.

 

If you want to post about HunHan, go right ahead?? people expressing that they think it's fanservice is an opinion just like you think about TaoHun, but I honestly don't think anyone thinks it doesn't "meet their standards." As long as you are theorizing about someone you think is actually gay, I don't see a problem here.

Well when i mentioned how 1D are handled and the similarities, i meant management and publicity wise (specially with the whole baekhyun scandal), not exactly the shipping part because 1D's team have been doing nothing but pushing homophobia to ridiculous lengths but that's a whole other discussion that's too deep to get into imo. I still think that them hanging out in their free time is still fanservice to cement shipping cos it's highly publicized and done in the fan's faces so i don't think anything out of it tbh.

I'm honestly curious, but why do you think idols going out in their free time is fanservice? How...is that considered 'highly publicized" when the pictures of it are usually just sasaeng shots and half the time they're running away from them? :/

Ofc not all the time but some lately have been very promoted in a way imo, as in, clearly knowing and expecting the fans to be there. I feel like they've taken that as something very normal by now. To me they haven't looked like they were running from fans, even more so they even stop to sign some stuff... i saw a swarm of fans following them around actually and those weren't sasaeng, those are like just regular ones that wait outside the SM building or other places and follow them, you'll see them having dinner/coffee/whatever and a group of fans sitting around them, i wouldn't exactly class those as sasaeng imo but idk... cos as far as i know some do manage to have outings with other idols/friends/etc without having fans follow them and is possible so...

 

Do you have any examples? I'm really confused because that's honestly not what I've seen, most of the time they tend to be alone? there's a tumblr that collects pictures like that a lot and I don't see a lot of times where there's swarms of fans following them or eating with them at a restaurant. Like there's tons of pics just on the first few pages:

I really think that most of the time that they're just going somewhere in the city (getting coffee/food, shopping, going to the movies, ect) they probably just don't bother being ~super secretive~ or anything. If they're tired of dealing with everyone they usually hop in a cab (the couple of instances they seem swarmed by fans are usually pictures of them getting in a cab honestly). Even when they're meeting up with friends people generally manage to spot them tbh.

 

And yeah, they give out signatures a lot, which I agree is fanservice that they're probably encouraged to do but most of the time it's when they only run into one or two people, and they do it whether they're alone or with someone else.

well here are a couple 

 

 

I've seen plenty of examples but i can't go looking for them to post them cos idk where to even begin to search but i've seen many times that fans are just sitting from across the restaurant in tables with their phones taking pictures and all, same when they follow them around, i've seen videos of them where you can see it too... if it gets too crowded then they'll leave. Ofc you won't see it when the fans themselves will only post pictures of them alone and not of/with the fans around but there is the occassional pictures where you can see the fans in the background and you can see they're a group of people.

Like those pictures walking, you may think it's only just one person or two at most, but next to the person who took the pictures there's actually maybe a group of fans (maybe there isn't a large group but easily more than a couple of people) who are not even discreet about it. Many times Exo mentioned going somewhere or some members out even with other idols but we still never got photos or found out about it, the fans aren't even discreet when they follow them like this to even consider they could be sasaeng, you'll just see exo walking out somewhere and the fans walking some mtrs. behind... i still think it still IS possible for idols to still go out and not be seen/spotted by fans because they managed many times (for example, chanyeol went to his dad restaurant the other day and no one knew until he posted pictures on ig), depends on how you go about it. Sure at this point sometimes they won't even bother cos i guess it's normal to them already i guess but even so, it's not a crazy thought to me that they use this to milk something as well, i mean, it's really common nowadays not just in kpop but in general so...

 

eh I get where you're coming from but I guess I'm just too...optimistic? naive? to question every little thing idols do as fanservice or something they're being forced to do, lmao. it's a little hard for me to imagine that SM would care about the ten teenage girls or so who recognize EXO on the street and take photos of them enough to force two people to go out together as shipping fodder. Not that many fans are gonna see those photos comparative to the number of people who are going to see the other types of fanservice we get (interview questions, onstage/on-camera interactions, SNS posts, ect). If SM wants to promote a ship, I think they'd rather rely on things they can control instead of teenage girls, haha.

No one said that, i never said they weren't close/friends for the idea of thinking they hang out a lot. Ok so sometimes not everything is a conspiracy but some other times it actually is? It goes both ways i guess. Fanservice may as well not just be onstage interactions but other forms of interactions too, if they hang out and know that fans will post pictures all over the internet where EVERY other fan will see it, i think it's perfectly ok to think of it as fanservice too, same with ig posts in general since they are on public sns open to the fans, therefore there's pretty much no difference than on stage/off stage in that aspect imo and in kpop i think the forms of fanservice have been changing, considering SNS and it's influence so if they go down that route there's really not much need to do any more fanservice on stage, just like you said before, they have other 10 members so why stick with just one and even when you post a selfie any other day, right?

If you mention hunhan as an example, they have been having more interactions but not too many as they used to and i think i said this before, just because you don't know or see them interacting offstage does not mean they actually don't. The other past days fans have seen them waving from their hotel room, meaning there has been some interaction, same when they arrived to the hotel one night in the same car, or videos when they practice for the TLP shows, etc. Just as with any of the other members. I wouldn't say such and such are the only ones who spend the most time together cos at the end of the day, nobody knows how everything works backstage for sure, you just get glimpses.

 

Uhm... i never said they specifically force them and they aren't close, ofc they're close, everyone in the band is, sure others closer than others but you say not many fans see the photos? the photos get posted all over the internet, everyone can see them even i-fans, just the same as any interview so that's a bit flawed imo. You say SM doesn't care about teenage girls but those teenage girls are their clients who feed their wallets, companies will go to great lengths to get just about anything done, they study their clients and what's profitable for them so whatever works, they'll go for it. This is also a general idea of every other business/company, as well related to other groups or celebs across the world.

Ever since Sm changed CEOs i feel like there's been a  great change in how things are handled even more so with the influence of SNS as a whole, so i do believe that a company can definitely manipulate and have some control over teenage fans, specially since it's easier than any other adult because they're very influenceable. Their idols/oppas are a product of marketing to appeal to them and they buy the idea (i mean, for example, what's with the media play and shit from the media kris got? articles about "suho" saying how his decision was irresponsible and pretty much implying he screwed them over then fans and k-nets were hating on him... those things didn't come out of nowhere, that was a media strategy since Sm was firstly seen as the bad guy and they needed the simpathy back) but i digress i guess. Anyone can think what they like...

 

Sorry, I really didn't meant to turn this into something bigger than I was, I honestly just didn't understand where you were coming from when I brought it up! I still don't agree but I do respect your opinion and it's certainly possible that SM has more of a hand in everything than we like to admit, but I personally just don't see it when it comes to the boys going out in their free time. Media play is definitely a thing but comparatively, who Sehun hangs out with is on a much, much smaller scale than Kris leaving. And while fan sighting photos are available for anyone to see, that doesn't mean everyone sees them or they get nearly as much attention as concert photos, airport photos, official material, ect. Even if they're not forcing them, I don't think they even strongly encourage them to hang out with anyone in particular. They hang out in too many different combinations to worry about, really. Plus in some cases the boys have been hanging out the same way for ages regardless of what ships are popular or promoted--Xiuhan for example have been going out for coffee/shopping since predebut and they still go out pretty much once a week when they're free.

 

(also, from what I've heard EXO is a rarity in that they actually hang out with each other in the first place so honestly, I'm just glad they're all generally friends with each other.)

While we really have no way of knowing, that was my first thought tbh. Even the other members who went to help him were smiling and acting like it wasn't a big deal that he just got hurt, like "lol silly old klutzy Tao". If I had to guess, I'd say that the nonchalant reactions of the members were 100% for the sake of the audience and if it had been in private they probably would've been a lot less cheery about it. You'll also notice that Sehun made sure Tao was starting to get up before he averted his attention, so I think he was concerned even if he was trying to play it like he wasn't.

 

Remember that SM is the "keep going no matter what" company, so realistically if this had been in the middle of the song instead of at the end they all likely would've continued performing and he likely would've gotten up and joined them and then snuck off stage after the song to seek treatment. In SM stage professionalism is paramount.

 

I...don't really know what was going on there, it definitely hurts to see while it hurts to see that happen, but I gotta say that I've seen this same thing happen before. A few years ago when Krystal fainted onstage it was in the middle of the song and the rest of the f(x) members were torn between helping her and continuing their performance. :///

 

Even though it was at the end of the song, there's literally no break between most songs during EXO's concerts so he would have to be ready for the next song right away ;; it...still doesn't look good, but having half of the members help Tao and the other half continue on is probably what SM would have wanted them to do. 

 

it's still kind of a dick move though. but I don't think he did it out of any ill intention, idk, Sehun seems like a good kid. ;;

I wish I could talk to you about Kaisoo, I don't pay very much attention to it or I would ;w; I do think they're cute, and it's a possible ship. And more relevantly, I do think they both definitely could be gay. D.O. maybe moreso? I could see Kai liking women too perhaps. 

 

What do you guys think about Taemin? I seriously can't read him at all.
