Which male idols do you think are gay?

I think that says a lot lmao.

Thought you guys might be interested in watching this :)

This drama is actually really good, yes it’s a side story but at the same time I thought it was done so nicely. Wonseok being gay isn’t treated as something comical, instead his sexuality just appears understood and normalised. I highly recommend.

Any opinions on Shinhwa members? I think it’s interesting to note that if any of them are lgbt they are in their 40s now and none have came out after having been in the industry for such a long period of time, not to mention being long past their military service as well.

His reactions remind me of closeted gay people, where they panic at any skinship action. Thats why i am always MORE suspicious about males who dont do skinship, in general males from countries like this, they are very nervous when anything that is a little gay is happening next to them. Because they do not wish to show their sexuality.

That is also why i am struggling so much with my bias Hoshi, bcs on one hand he feels very straight according to this logic^^^ , on the other i NEVER saw anyone that is so touchy to muscular males, he literally glues himself to them and touch them everywhere rip, so if anyone has ideas about him pls tell me, fcker drives me crazy at this point

I agree about Hoshi, he’s one of those incredibly puzzling idols haha. On one hand we have guys like Sehun, Key and a Ten who couldn’t be anymore obvious and on the other there’s Chen, Shownu, Onew etc who don’t give off any lgbt feelings. But then there’s this group that I cannot figure out and Hoshi is one of them. Kai and Wonho fall into this category too. I know a lot of people in this thread will have concrete opinions about them but I just can’t seem to come to a conclusion without changing my mind soon after.

In light of T.O.P’s announcement that he won’t be promoting in Korea again I think it would be interesting to discuss him more. I remember reading in this thread ages ago that many people think he’s gay and I agree he never seemed to have the slightest interest in girls unlike the other members of BigBang. Even obviously lgbt GDragon appears to have some chemistry.  T.O.P on the other hand....

I'm sorry, T.O.P. has never been someone I paid much attention to, why do you think he's lgbtq+?

I can’t tell if I think he’s lgbtq or just an ally, but I have always found him to be interesting and worth discussing. He has met with David Hockney for a start, sure that’s not exactly the concrete evidence you’re probably looking for but it’s just a nice fact I guess. It does seem like the consensus here has changed a lot since what I read here on much earlier pages. If only the search function were working I would go back to try and find what stood out to me.

(Also to everyone else who brought it up, I wouldn’t recommend taking anything Han Seo Hee says seriously. She’s a self proclaimed attention seeker. Not very reputable)

What about him? He's hard to read. Clearly has some very intense friendships with D.O. and Taemin. I don't think his fling with Jennie was fake though either. Krystal maybe. His public domain persona seems to be like really opposite of his personality though which seems to be very sensitive, reflective, and really shy according to pretty much all accounts.

I find Kai so impossible to get anything from. I don’t think he’s straight though. I believe that he had a relationship with Krystal more than Jennie. His friend group seems overwhelming not straight too, especially Taemin. I mean it says something if even your manager thinks you are dating and this is in Korea where the acknowledgement of gay relationships kind of fly under the radar for so many people.

Taehyung feels straight af tho, and majority of the receipts here about him seems like fanservice or delulu fans most of the time. Not to break dreams ofc

Why do you think he’s straight? I’m curious because he doesn’t give off the slightest straight vibe to me judging solely by his interests, the music he listens to, movies he watches etc.

I cant really say hobbies determine sexual interest to be honest. He is known and memefied quite alot of for that yoga woman video, you might remember it.

And his recent behaviours all scream do not ship me with anyone, he had a big personality jump these years you can actually see he became self concious about about ship comments from US audience, and trying to draw an image as the brooding one, instead of jungkooks bf. K fandoms dont make shipping uncomfortable, therefore idols usually dont mind shipping there, but int comments are all very obvious and made him immediately try to draw a line. It is pretty obvious to me that shows fanservice instead of any kind of relationship. Of course, anyone can comment differently, but if i had any questions marks, those were all resolved the second he changed his behaviour.

I disagree, I think hobbies and interests can be incredibly indicative. I don’t think reaction (or lack thereof) to shipping has any relevance to an idol’s sexuality and I really wish we could once and for all leave that whole topic behind in the dust. Excessive shipping with someone you are not romantically involved with is bound to make anybody uncomfortable, especially when done on such a large and visible public scale. That’s all I’m willing to say about that tbh because it’s just so annoying to keep talking/reading about.
Anyway, back to Taehyung, I can’t see any straight man consuming that much lgbt content and actively being interested in it. This man loves lgbt artists, movies, and not to mention all those gay photographers he follows. At this stage it cannot all be simply coincidental.

Anyone have opinions on the actor Kim Jaewook? I’ve been watching some dramas he’s in a wanted to find out more about him and got curious. He played a gay character in the movie Antique Bakery, performed the lead role as Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and apparently to better “get in character” or something like that he worked in a transgender bar where he dressed as a woman? I’m new to discovering him so if anybody knows more that would be really cool.

I had been wanting to share my take on NCT for a while, but I felt I still needed to get to know them better before saying anything, since I've got into them just recently. Still, I think that my opinion could be interesting to read since I am probably older than many of the current users of this thread and a queer woman as well (noona fan here, yo). Please notice that this is my personal opinion and I am not trying to force my thoughts into anybody, I am just sharing my point of view. If you don't feel like reading a long and probably a little boring essay just skip this.

Also, this is mainy Taeyong and Yuta related, but there will be musings on other members here and there. Beware, it's loooooong.

  Reveal hidden contents

I find Taeyong's duality absolutely fascinating, just as I do for other idols who are pure art and expression on stage but act quietly and low profile when they are not performing, like Kim Jongin for example (whom I am positive is gay, in spite of all the Kaistal, Jenkai and so on). First of all, the absolute shitstorm Taeyong had to endure since his debut until now is no joke, and I think that just someone with a very sheer will and healthy mindset could go through all that without falling apart. In my opinion he looks like an introvert more than an extrovert, a very sensitive soul with a strong sense of duty and responsibility. I don't know if anyone agrees with me, since probably it's not a popular opinion, but I really think that Taeyong is indeed a homosexual man with a lot of inner fears and insecurities. I'll try to explain myself better.

A little digression here. We all know that Korean culture is all about skinship and "just bros" attitude, but I always had the strong feeling that, if everything is kept behind closed doors and it's not fed to the public, then it's not a problem at all. It's actually pretty similar to the current way of perceiving homosexuality and especially same sex relationships in the infamous western countries, even those where same sex marriage is legal. Let's face it. Homosexuality is still a stigma, everywhere. I'm sorry if this upsets someone, but my personal experience brought me to believe this. I live in Europe and my country was one of the first to legalize homosexual weddings.

Still, discrimination never, and when I say never, I mean never, fucking stopped or even faded out a little. If a boy or a girl even dares coming out during school, they would be bullied. Always. Maybe not by their close group of friends (even if bullying comes in many subtle shades, at times), but sooner or later some assholes will come at them. You could get discriminated at work, since it's still a taboo coming out in some environments. And there are still many, too many people who just believe that homosexuality is an illness, in spite of what OMS said and everything else. You wouldn't believe how many times I got that pitying look from people when I introduced my girlfriend to them. These things, let's be honest, don't push you to be open and sincere to everyone. And if your mental isn't strong, sooner or later you'll end up doubting yourself, internalizing the hate surrounding you like "your fault" and just end up being your own worst enemy. /end of rant.

I was very excited when I learned that Taeyong was going to be in SuperM, even if I hated that he was getting overworked, since he would get closer to some senior idols of him who probably are more in touch with the way they perceive themselves. I strongly believe, in fact, that Jongin, Baekhyun and Taemin, if not queer themselves, are at least allies. I think being together with these people could do nothing but good to him. And if you really squint, always being careful of the fact that he definitey has a stage persona that sometimes confuses us, you could see a subtle change in his attitude, after SuperM's tour.

I don't know if anyone agrees with me, but to me, he really looks grown up. Matured, in a way, both artistically and personally. His insecurities are still there - I am thinking about that silly BuzzFeed video where he was asked to hug Baekhyun and look into his eyes while giving him compliments, and he started freaking out: a part of it was probably exaggerated for camera purposes, but blushing and acting that weird... - but I think he understands them better, now. I think he's slowly accepting that women, and also a lot of men, find him handsome and interesting as a person. I think he's naturally more inclined towards men than women, and probably even experimented a little during trainee days and behind closed doors (I mean, who wouldn't? I hope nobody will get triggered by these words, but well, let's face it: a lot of young men with raging hormones... it's just not realistic hoping that he would live like a monk), both physically and mentally-wise.

I am happy that NCT seems to be a group filled with so many seeming diverse and nice men. And I absolutely love the fact that Taeyong is such a good and caring leader for them. He's nice to everyone, really, but I personally found his relationship towards Yuta, Jaehyun, Johnny and Ten the most fascinating to analyze.

Johnny and Yuta are part of the 95 line and I think they naturally and genuinely got closer since trainee days. Yuta is like his long lost twin, except that, at least in my opinion, he's a few steps ahead in his own journey of self understanding and embracing his true self. Many times it was clear to me that Taeyong respects and truly loves Yuta as a person and a close friend (another gut feeling here - if I were Taeyong, Yuta would be the person I'd choose to pour my heart when I feel stressed or to ask advice. Just sayin'). I think Yuta is very similar to Taeyong in a way. They have been friends since trainee days and their strong bond is still evident in these days. I also think, though, that Yuta is dramatically different from him. Let me detail my opinion. I remember reading a post in this thread a while ago, which defined Yuta "a sexually liberated young man" (or something along these lines). Well, maybe not entirely sexually liberated, but still many steps ahead than Taeyong in understanding and valuing himself enough not to be afraid to be frank, speak his mind, even act "controversial" (commas are compulsory here; think of the bellybutton piercing, of the way he dared telling a sasaeng to fuck off, of the way he doesn't even try to hide when he's annoyed or tired or in disagreement with something) if he feels that it's the right thing to do. At the same time, he always felt like a sweet and understanding person to me. And empath, probably, and a very good listener. I think, personally, that the fact that he's not Korean might play a role in this dynamic, but I have no deep knowledge of Japanese culture so I won't dwell on this topic further. I don't know why, but I've always thought that.

Johnny always felt like a very sweet person to me, a really friendly guy and he grew up in a western country (I think that this factor definitely plays a role, even if his mother culture is Korean). I think Taeyong loves him deeply as a friend.

His relationship with Jaehyun is interesting also. Many believe that there's something suspicious between them, I am not sure about that since their supposed moments are always subtle, mainly happen off cam and nowadays they don't interact much on stage, but there's a definite spark between them, I am sure of it. Maybe not a definite romantic relationship, but I think that these two definitely have a soft spot for each other. Their personalities match well, and there's just this undeniable chemistry between them. I think they both find each other attractive, both physically and mentally. It's in their eyes, really. But I don't know if they ever took it to the next level, honestly.

Lastly, Ten. Ten is maybe the only one who I'd bet my money on, like, nobody nowadays could deny that this guy is queer. Maybe not the flamboyant gay diva type, that's just for show I think, but I think he's the most free-spirited and in tune with himself among the whole group. This is why his friendship with Taeyong is so important. Taeyong, in my opinion, needs positive examples of people who chose not to let their fears engulf them and just aren't afraid of speak out their mind and soul. A lot of people seem to think that Taeyong and Ten might or might have been in a relationship at some point, but I personally don't think so. I think that Taeyong's personality matches better with other people, but I'm not saying that they might not have messed up or experimented at some point. They're human, duh.

It. Got. So. Long. 😅 I'd love to get to know if you agree or disagree with me. I have no problems with opinions that are different from mine, but please remember that anyone has the right to state his own opinion and shouldn't be bashed because of that. And remember that I have zero tolerance towards trolls~

I agree so much with all this, thank you for compiling it! I’m curious about your opinions around Jongin too since you mentioned him at the beginning. I can’t help but feel like there’s something more to him beyond his publicised dating. So I’d love to hear what you think after your piece about Taeyong.

I think it would be interesting to discuss Kyungsoo (D.O). I’ve been unable to get much from him so if anyone else had more strong ideas please share! It’s easy to dismiss him a straight due to a lack of receipts or whatever but idk I’m unable to shake my suspicion that maybe just maybe he’s not. I mean he’s at least an ally cause he went to watch lgbtq productions like The Handmaiden (with Sehun lol), Jo Kwon’s Priscilla (with Suho hehe) and the musical Hedwig right?

I want to see the things written about my faves.

Is it possible to search this thread for things about my faves?

I actually found a way to do this that someone else mentioned ages ago. It doesn’t work perfectly but it’s close enough and might put you in the right direction. Type “Which male idols do you think are gay” + name into the search bar.

eg. “Which male idols do you think are gay” Suho

I don’t think the presence of a few she’s/hers in a song is indicative of anything lol. Sehun, Key, Ten and other idols that are evidently gay have had lines with those pronouns and it’s just cause of how the song lyrics were written. There is a target audience in mind too. Companies are hardly gonna approve lyrics for a male idol singing about him or he. I mean, even Taemin’s ‘Thirsty’ with those veryyyyy sus lyrics had an “oh girl” thrown in. Of course if Taehyung wrote these lyrics himself he was still gonna have to get them approved,  in which case that easily accounts for the inclusion of “girl”, without even taking conservative Korea into consideration. Aside from that word, those lyrics could apply to any gender.

these opinions are based on the rumors that i've heard + my observations.

first of all.. i'm pretty sure that ten is gay. (literally everyone knows that but.. anyways.) taeyong - bi or gay.

i would say taehyung is gay too but i think he once talked about having kids of his own (please correct me if i'm wrong) so.. idk. (but then again wentworth miller used to talk about the exact same thing when he was in the closet too so..) he could be bi. or gay. overall i think he's definitely interested in men (or goes both ways).

jimin -bisexual. haven't heard anything about him being attracted to the same sex but i do think that he is interested in men.

also.. kai from exo (yes. yes him.) i have heard several things about him here and there. pretty sure he's interested in men. he could be bi. (i think he's gay though. lol)

also i'm pretty sure that sehun is not gay. he could be bi but he is definitely interested in women.

chanyeol, baekhyun, kyungsoo, xiumin, yixing -ALL straight. not sure about junmyeon (suho).

ravi (vixx) -BISEXUAL.

I agree with everything here except Sehun being interested in women. I just cannot see that being feasible tbh, he’s said so many things himself as have the other members of EXO like someone else just mentioned. His behaviour around men (particularly older men, that’s umm quite telling lol) and I find it very hard to read his vibe as being anything other than gay. It’s more than just incidents and what he says or does... it’s literally everything

Off topic and a bit interesting to me.

Do you all think that with GOT7 leaving JYPE, that Jackson will be more Jackson?

If you are referring to his sexuality which is my assumption given what this thread is supposed to be about, then I don’t think he can. I do very much believe Jackson is bisexual but I can’t see him coming out anytime soon. Just because he’s out of JYP’s control doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the Korean market to appeal to anymore, the fan base will still exist and on top of that he has Chinese promotions and China’s entertainment industry is equally restrictive of idols coming out. Look at Tao for example, he hasn’t come out either after leaving Korea. I would love to get proven wrong and see both of them come out soon, but unfortunately it’s very unlikely.

This thread has always been plagued by various issues. However the last few weeks it seems to be a virtually unreadable mess of shipping arguments and completely off topic rambling so much so that anything remotely interesting, on topic, and worthy of more discussion is being lost and swamped by everything else. Please stop posting off topic content so we can actually discuss the interesting parts.

If people actually try to use that as definitive proof he’s not gay all I have to say is do you really have no knowledge of his situation? How can anybody expect a member of one of the most popular boy groups in Korea to comfortably answer yes to the are you gay question?  Just look at straight relationships still being treated as scandalous by the media in that industry. It would be detrimental to his career to answer otherwise. Sehun lives in Korea, not a liberal open minded society like Sweden or Canada.

edit: I will also add that I thought it’s really weird for someone to ask that during a live. Like what did they hope to get from it

Blackpink seem very not straight to me tbh, and not just because of the memes.

Also SM queerbaiting us ever since the SuJu/Shinee days and they still going at it with RV/NCT... maybe SM loves us gays cause he knows we're the ones buying his GG albums?

I’m not sure about Blackpink but in YG, G Dragon gives me the most likely to be LGBTQ vibes. Not forgetting *cough* bottoms do it better *cough*

so...what are your consensus on Shinee?

Key is without doubt gay and I don’t really think there’s much of a debate there hahaha. Taemin gives me strong gay energy too. Minho is the one I’m most uncertain about but my guess is for either straight or bisexual. Someone with a concrete opinion please give your ideas about him! Onew is straight and I’ve never really questioned that. Jonghyun  too was definitely part of the LGBTQ community and he’s the member with the most evidence to back it up. Interestingly, I think SHINee have one of the highest queer to straight ratios in k-pop. I could be safe and guess 3/5 if we were to consider Minho straight but I can’t help but think hmmm maybe not.
