Hongjoong from Ateez being the best.

Info: Painting one fingernail is the hallmark of the "Polished Man" campaign, which brings awareness to violence against children.

Disclaimer: Not saying this makes him gay, just that it's cool that he is doing something unusual for men and he always has that one nail painted with different colours ^-^

Also, Ateez went to a card reading thing (lol) and the lady checked the compatibility between two members. Hongjoong is really surprised and asks: "They check compatibility between men too?" and the lady replies with of course. Pretty cool of this lady!

You can watch it here at 6:47:

THIS KING

If you're interested here is the interview with Holland where he talks about being bullied and accepting himself: https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/international/8546172/holland-loved-you-better-interview-from-bullying-to-self-love-single

"The lyrics just poured out of me. The opening lyrics are a message I wanted to tell the bullies who gave me a hard time and still don't like me to this day, but the middle section -- about flipping your hair, going your own way, treating yourself like a queen -- that's the message I want to tell my fans." - Holland.

He called Taehyung V hyung before which implies more closeness than a mere stranger. He might just do it for the hype only but I doubt it when Korea is so particular about hierarchy.

Amazing. I really have high hopes for the LGBTQIA community in Korea this year.

Looking at the reactions, they're prove your point lol

Those 5 dislikes though I'm-

I can't find the video now, but there is one where some members of Ateez imitate the dance from Sam Smith's video "How do you sleep at night?". So far, they seem to be a very open minded group in some ways. Will edit the post with the video if I can find it.

The leader of the group is also a big fan of David Bowie:

When people say "stop assuming *insert idol here*'s sexuality", they almost always mean "stop assuming that *insert idol here* is lgbt+"

There's this thing called heteronormativity, when heterosexuality is considered normal, the norm, and any other sexualities are considered not normal. It walks hand by hand with homophobia and we see a lot of it in kpop community.

People will say "don't assume their sexuality!!" and then the next second say "I can't wait until *male idol* get a girlfriend". It happens a lot unfortunately.

LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE EVERYWHERE

While I agree with all the points made above about heteronormativity and straight people being seen as the norm whilst everything is is considered bad. I also have to say that the way twitter goes on about Ten’s sexuality does make me uncomfortable at times, especially since a lot of it is coming from straight girls and women who fetishise gay men but don’t actually give a shit about LGBT people other than for their fantasies.

Although I agree and it's absolutely not okay to use slurs, a good portion of k-pop's fanbase is very young. One could make the same argument and say that commenting things like: step on me daddy, he's such a dom, and I'd let him choke me are also very harmful as it's sexual harassment. However, I feel like people focus so much on how it's bad to say this idol is/might be lgtbqia but turn around and say things like that. It is, unfortunately, how a lot of younger straight girls behave and this sexualization (shipping members together, writing smut, etc). Obviously homophobia is awful and harmful but the problem runs so much deeper than that reaching depths of thinking of idols as (sex) objects. I hope this make sense and I hope this changes. The way fans talk about idols is wild to me and extremely inappropriate at times.

I know that Ten lurks on Twitter, that's why i said in my first paragraph that fans should be respectful of the idols' privacy on places like Twitter or Instagram where idols can read their comments. And i also said that nctzens should focus on his talents and supporting him as an artist. I just didn't like the disdain and hypocrisy that i felt through the OP and the comments under this post and i was just pointing this out.

Honestly, no idols should lurk on social media. And yeah people should definitely focus on him as an artist 😞

Why is k-pop like this.

When you elect known criminals, you cannot hope to have a fair system to any and especially to women and sexual minorities.

Oooooof-

I personally don't think individuals should be allowed in politics if they have a criminal background.

I know he's not 'technically' an idol but to me, Holland literally has the biggest balls of steel.

He's got to face the military knowing he can't wriggle out of being gay. He'll have been open and out for years so there's no point in him turning up and claiming he's straight. And I don't think he would because he seems so honest and matter-of-fact about it.

Which means he automatically faces the thinnest end of the wedge for soldiers; being labelled as a mentally deficient lunatic and/or watched like a hawk to make sure he doesn't 'molest' half the battalion. Not to mention the bullying and torment non-straight soldiers claim they've faced when other soldiers have found out they were gay or bi. And I absolutely believe them.

Let's hope a few of these career crims in power make some positive changes by then, but I doubt it. 😕 I do worry about Holland. His honesty is so refreshing and pure, but he's also vulnerable in the face of a very harsh system for out gay males.

Completely forgot about the military... Holland is the hero we deserve.

honestly

everyone already discusses hongjoong from ateez but... what's y'alls opinions on yunho?? i've been getting vibes recently

YAS ATEEZ. MY BIAS GROUP

At the moment, Yeosang, Mingi and Yunho (possibly San) are the ones who I think might be straight (I know wild).

Hongjoong is an interesting case to me. He has openly supported lgbtqia rights before, as your post shows, but he seems to avoid pda and has sometimes said "isn't this weird" when Ateez is being well... Ateez. He gives me some major GD vibes. I also find in interesting that despite him and Seongwha being the same age they are still very awkward around each other and were even more awkward when they debuted. One could say it's because he's the leader so he can't be as affection as the others idk. They are a very interesting group to me.

BUT LIKE LOOK AT HIM

Another topic that I would like to discuss is the rise of: gay panic, confident gay, gay moments, they are boyfriends, etc... on social media (mostly instagram and mostly on male idols related posts). Is this good, is this a bad thing?

BH can do the most absolute bare minimum and have people on twitter yelling about how they're our LGBT presidents or kings or whatever

I love BTS but meanwhile idols like Holland are mostly ignored... it's all fun and games until they are actually lgbtqia.

Stan Hongjoong.
