You know, I understand that most of the people blowing this video up are just doing so because "skinship" and shipping, but am I the only one whose kinda worried for them? I get that most Koreans and certainly kmedia will use any and every excuse to justify why something isn't gay, but this is......pretty explicit. I just really hope, for their sake, that this stays contained on Twitter and other SNS sites. Kpop fans are pretty oblivious and think pretty much everything is just fanservice and dont think anything serious of this, but I don't think the general public has that same attitude. If it blows up even bigger I feel like we may be about to witness the first time a company has to actively acknowledge something like this to do damage control.

I agree but some k fans (and some international fans) still think Heechul is straight even tho he did a live with his very obv boyfriend naked? Then I think they might be safe. They’ll just find any excuse to shut down them rumours. Anyways I hope they don’t get hate.

If bisexual idols came out before gay ones, would that have a better reaction from the general public and ease SK into being accepting enough for gay idols to come out eventually?

I had a friend who said she was bi to her mum first then came out as lesbian so, it may be easier for people to accept. But being bi myself people from the gay community and the straights don’t think it exists well some don’t believe. It could ease them into acceptance or they’ll just think it doesn’t exist. Honestly I don’t really know.

I saw your question and wanted to give my contribution too. I really wanna to talk about NCT here. I'm going to be very straight to the point (otherwise I'l make and essay to each member that interest me) and if you have any questions we keep talking.

 

Please forgive any mistakes. It's really late here and I'm almost sleeping right now.

 

Taeil: I really don't have a conclusion about him. He never really caught me as not straight, but all of his actions towards Winwin got me thinking. But still without conclusions.

 

Johnny: he seems mostly straight, but I'd say he is bi. I'm towards bi because of things he said on the night night about pick up lines: "wether is girl or boy they could feel flustered, we should try to make them smile". His flirt with Jaehyun. All the times I saw him checking Ten out. The same way thar Mark exposed that Taeil has a crush on Winwin, he also said that Johnny has a crush on Taeil. Some pictures of years ago of him and Ten in the behind the scenes made me think that them could be envolved till some extend. And his reaction to Ten's note on his birthday (don't wanting to read it) was pretty interesting to me. The boy was the one to say out of nowhere "Me and Ten showered together" without any shame, Ten was the one flustered, and got nervous for one note that was readed anyway? So I concluded that message wasn't a inocent joke in it's tottality. But he is attracted to women too.

 

Taeyong: here almost everybody agrees that he is gay. Still figuring out himself, being more comfortable one days, more reflexive in others, but gay. I would like to say everything I collect about Taeyong, 'cause he is so fascinating and for me just explain why I think he is gay takes a lot of information kkkk

 

Yuta: most of people here thinks he's straight, but I think he's gay. He was the first one I made up my mind in being not straight, even before Taeyong and Ten. I'm still searching the things, putting together solid informations to come here and talk more in details about him. But I will say a few. Yuta is more sweet than that manly and seductive man, but he is confident of himself. He's not shy, nor afraid of stood up and say and do what he wants, even if could be judged. But I don't see he being interested in the women he interacts with. He mostly be on his own, quiet, observing the things (and with some desinterest, not willing to participate) and with the girls I've seen him interact more closely he is polite, sweet, kind, but, imo, he seems to act like a best friend, not a boyfriend. Seems the way my friends in the past treated me (and i was 100% sure that they didn't have interest in me as a woman) and the way my brother treats me. And Yuta is Yuta, he knows how to flirt if he wants to.

 

Ten: this one doesn't need discussion, he is gay and is really proud of this. I love Ten, my dream is become someone brave and authentic like him. The list of receipts for him is huge. Part 1/3 of NCT's gay bermuda triangle.

 

Kun: is a good, cute guy but just like Taeil I don't have a opinion formed about him, yet.

 

Doyoung: the guy is a enigma, really. Doyoung is like Jaehyun, very smart. He seems to be very organized and likes to have his things under his control. Yet he gets irritaded very easily when provoked for the other (what creates a lot of fun situations, mostly with Taeyong and Ten). But I don't see him as a person who do things impusively, that make moves and decisions without thinking. So that's why he becomes hard to read. But I don't think he is straight at all! Never thought, but recently paying a closer attention to him, details became clear. Doyoung seems to keep a safe distance from every girl he interact. For him is his job, besides this he don't have anything to do with them. He is polite, sweet, but nothing more than this, no interest. And still there's Jungwoo (not being shipy) who seems to bring up something in Doyoung that he don't hide really well (idk if he is trying to). And I still don't discard the possibility of him having a crush on Jaehyun sometime in the past.

 

Jaehyun: he is other enigma, almost. I think that Jaehyun is gay. But he is the member that was harder for me to really see it. And I have to say, he is good in put his image of prince, gentleman, perfect boyfriend material to distract us. I was distracted for months!! But yeah, the boy ain't straight. He showed plenty of times interest and attraction for men, but never interest enough in women. There's the classic "Stop flirting with my brother" that Doyoung told out in the middle of a nct 127 vlive. The flirt with Johnny, he likes it. He likes to make boys flustered too. Also there's the infamous moment where he said to Taeyong to not do anything cause the cameras were rolling, in a tone and with a face that wasn't inocent at all. And there's more...

 

Winwin: straight. Sicheng is quite cute and a little feminine but, imo, he is straight. He just ended up in a mess of gay energy that still are not properly relieved.

 

Jungwoo: my baby boy is gay and doesn't give a shit. He just want to collect all the boys and send them to the panic. Legends says that a man becomes 30% gayer just in look at Jungwoo. Part 2/3 of NCT's gay bermuda triangle.

 

Lucas: mostly straight, and I'm compeling with this, but I keep him under attention (he is my bias so I pay much attention to him) 'cause something in my mind keeps warning me that he pays a special attention to boys, and making me notice this even when is not the focus of the moment. So, yeah, I think he maybe could be attracted to boys too.

 

Mark: he is a mess, seriously. If I start to talk about Mark i could end up writing a thesis from how much I have to discuss about him. But I'm going to make a post just about this in the future. Mark, it's been a long ass ride trying to figure out at least something about him, and what I have is that, right now, he's not straight. But is that, he himself doesn't know much about it and that's why he is so chaotic and confusing even for us whatching him from afar. He's like Taeyong, but i guess he is more confused. Mark likes girls, he probably had a crush on Yeri in the past, and become nervous around women in that kinda of way you become when you're interested. And he tends to try to be speak more, be less akward, and look more attractive for them. But the boy still have this odd reactions towards his members when is about skinship, and is with everyone; But when he is drunk starts to hug and touch them (and I think that probably one of the persons he attracted to is winwin, but this is other story). If the skinship is with others its okay, but if him no. So imo, Mark is questioning his sexuality, and runs away from get intimate with boys cause he is really afraid of like it and discover that this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Renjun: I have no idea. I'm trying to figure out something about him.

 

Jeno: chaotic gay and with a huuuuge crush on Jaemin. (I'm preparing a analisis about him and Jaemin, together and separately, to post here).

 

Jaemin: gay. And is confident about it. The boy came back ready to destroy bias lists and show how gay he is. He is living his best life being the part 3/3 of NCT's gay bermuda triangle.

 

Haechan: I think he is gay since the begining, and that's has nothing to do with his undying love for Mark. He loves to make his life a hell, that's the thing kkkk But Haechan likes to kiss, being kissed, touch, hold hands. He is really fond of be cling with the others boys, and this not have to necessarily be something that points to his sexuality. But there's other things that speaks more for me. He is good at his own makeup. To go to the airport he puts eye-shadow better than the makeup that doing for him at tv and stages. And there's the way he presents himself, his mannerism talking, walking, the gestures, his posture. The poses he does for camera to spontaneous photos. All of this things just tells me that he is a baby gay that will leave us shook in the future.

 

Chenle and Jisung: I think they're both straight. They are sweet with each other. Chenle is affectionate with a lot of people,while Jisung is way more closed and don't like much of being touched. They bassically only have each other, they're best friends, and Chenle is the only one Jisung lets get too close to him -and that he search- for hugs or intimacy. There's people who says that Jisung looks at Chenle like he is the whole world, and I agree. But for now I think that is why Chenle is his only friend and the one who he rely on the most. If that can grow to something else, just observing to know.

Heechul possibly, but I haven't really thought about this. I don't think any "new" idol that has debuted in recent years is out to their family (except possibly Seventeen's Vernon just because we know his mum is open-minded with regards to sexuality). That's which I think it's more likely that Heechul, Yunho, Tony and Jaeduck etc could possibly be out to their family.

 

But for the record if someone doesn't seem very close to their family I am more inclined to think that they like the same sex. Granted, it's not a receipt of any kind, but it just makes that possibility more likely to me. Maybe I'm projecting because I'm a lesbian and I'm not close at all to my parents lmao. That's why I think Sehun is incredibly likely to be gay as from what I've seen, although he has a good relationship with his parents he doesn't seem very close to them (although other factors can ofc come to play here), especially as he's been hanging out with Chefsuke these past couple of Chuseoks (which is also a receipt for their relationship lmao). As well as this, if you think about it the idol industry is probably full of idols who don't want to be with their families a lot as you can always just say you're busy with work so you can't visit them, as well as the fact that you're constantly travelling. So in a way perhaps some gay idols who are closeted to their families want to become idols in order to avoid spending a lot of time with them (imo it's probable that this is the case for Suho).

 

But like I said this is probably all just me projecting because I can't fathom gay people having a good relationship with their family lmao, as it's something me and my gay friends IRL are not used to.

That’s really sad to here about your family. I guess I’m lucky that my family is accepting of lgbt+ people. Me coming out as bisexual was nothing. My mum just said cool anyways I’m thinking of buying this what do you think. It was back to normal mum and daughter asking opinion on things to buy.

 

Considering how conservative South Korea is these idols who may be out to a accepting family are lucky. If they aren’t accepted I hope they find a family within their close friends.

 

It must be hard wanting to be out and proud but being an idol and it being detrimental to your career. I ageee with you in a way that some possibly lgbt+ idols not being close to their family is because they aren’t straight but, that may not be the only factor.

Who's Tony and Jaeduck?

 

Given how strict Korean families are I'm thinking that they're probably only open about their sexuality with their friends there's only so much you can hide after all. I wanted to add Taemin too specifically after his recent interview in Japan when he did a concert there

From what I can remember from this thread Tony and Jaeduck where part of the 1st gen kpop groups. Sechskies and H.O.T? The groups hated eachother. They both happend to enlist at the same time and be put in the same area of work (idk army terms). After that they became close and they have lived with eachother for quite a long time over 6 years I think. People try to force them to separate from eachother and get married. They also say they’re like a married couple when they appear on variety shows. They haven’t confirmed it obv. I’m sure more people on this thread no more this is just what I remember. I know we’ve talked about people who we think may come out who is already an idol. Sometimes I think it may be someone who we suspect to be gay but, we think they will never come out . I mean it must be (it is from experience) painful keeping this secret in for so long. I’ll just explode and once I told one person I would want to tell everyone. Maybe I’m being unrealistic. I’ve been thinking maybe someone with internalised homophobia who learnt to accept them self will come out. They had to keep all this pain anyway why hide it still? Hello humans it me again (sorry to annoy you all by posting so much). I just listened to this song by Lee Minhyuk (I think he’s from BtoB). If he’s the guy from BtoB I remember people talking about him being sus. Anyways he released a song called ‘Ya’. I just heard it now and the video has subtitles so you can see for yourself. Most people here think all the members of IMFACT are not-het, so idk why it would be unthinkable for BTS (other than that they have 2 more members?). I know so many people who have said that their entire high school friend group has since come out as some kind of LGBT+, even though they all identified as cishet when they met. And since the percentage of not-straight people in the entertainment industry is higher anyway, I don't see why that couldn't happen there.

 

With BTS specifically, the only member I feel confident to speculate an actual label for is Namjoon as bi. For the others, I would say they've all had moments that could indicate not being straight, but how they would actually identify is a mystery to me.

I agree. In my last year of primary school (ages 10-11) most my friend group 5 out of the 7 confirmed to be lgbt+ some years later. I’m 17 now and a bisexual girl and i find it cool that we all gravitated towards eachother. It also proves that it’s not impossible for random groups of people who didn’t really know themselves yet to be majority lgbt.

 

For me BTS is hard to read. I don’t want to seem weird in thinking all the members may not be straight but, they all have a convincing amount of receipts. Namjoon has always pinged me as bi and all the receipts behind him make me stand by this.

 

I always wonder if there is a kpop group out there boy/girl In which the lgbt members are greater than the straight members. Or if a group doesn’t have any straight members. Oh how I wish Korea was open minded it’ll be cool to see some representation in Korea especially for Koreans living in Korea who want to see themselves on tv, music anything in general.
