Being a part of the worst fandom ever (1D), some of us had long known that the realities of the guys lives were not like the images created for the public - no artist's can 100% be. In 1D the boys became men and started disagreeing with their management/amongst themselves. Around the 5 year mark, Zayn slung his proverbial hook and thus began the end. No sooner had he left 1D than he was creating amazing work that blew them away, and still does, tbh. He's got anxiety with depression and struggles to perform live but he's releasing other dimensional stuff that he'd never have been able to do under his contract with them. 

 

Now BTS are culturally very different and they've been brought up more like a well-disciplined family within Bighit. PR is also handled differently to western PR. But it doesn't stop universal human traits like disputes/rebellions arising, the need for creative freedom, expression of sexuality (whatever form that takes), having relationships/friendships that might not 'fit' the rulebook or 'offend core fandom', etc, as people shuffle around and get older inside the company box. Issues with the elders obviously happen

but having seen what happened to 1D, I spot a couple of little red flags popping up with BTS. Not amongst themselves but in the way they are now being aggressively globally marketed.

 

Just like 1D we can all buy BTS: the filmed packages, 'their lives', the holiday footage, tour footage, shampoo, hair gel, dress like them or smell like them. Do you want blue hair like Jimin? Done. What about this month's phone covers, keyrings, bags and ARMY bombs. Is there a perfume yet? There will be. The multi versions of albums, because one's never enough and year-round comebacks. It's such chaotic consumerism in a way. And BTS have the added burden of appeasing the home audience and their still largely conservative culture (something 1D never had to deal with). But so much pressure on sensitive individuals. :(   

 

Like 1D, they are quickly becoming product. They have to watch what they do and where they go or who they see. Wanna talk about Macklemore's words, RM? Fine, but come back next time and gaslight everyone. Want to talk about your open mind with people, Suga? Make sure you add a 'no homo' in there as well.  

 

As you rightly point out you cannot be a free bird in a gilded cage. And the grandest and biggest cage is still a cage.

 

I don't understand what you mean, every person that does a job where you have an audience must be aware of what they're doing and what they're saying, and it's normal 'cause you have a lot of power so a lot of responsibility. And it's great because you can use it to spread your message and help a lot of people, it's also a burden because it's obviously a huge stress but from the moment that you decide to take this career you know what you're getting into. They're in the business for six years now and they get where they are step by step, not overnight.

I was randomly watching an old Bangtan Bomb and I noticed (not the first time) how a member of the staff was dressed

Very short skirts are not something that will get you stares in Asia. They're kinda the norm, so people don't notice them.

I wouldn't go to work wearing just a large hoodie and bare legs honestly, I often wear shorts and skirts but that's not the case, there are other videos where the girls in the staff are wearing very short skirts and are sitting on the boys (basically their employers) legs. We are not talking about teenagers, the staff are all in their thirties. It's an attitude that I wouldn't have with hetero guys, but maybe I'm prude

Why the hell would you point out her outfit like that, she can wear whatever she wants. I wouldn’t go dressed ugly to a place where everyone’s dolled up and filled with good looking people either. Also showing a lot of legs is very common in korea and isn’t considered as provocative as it would in other countries.

Also, why would a staff member know of any members sexualities? It’s ridiculous, she only works here and if someone would’ve took screenshots of me when I’m working as a makeup artist in the future (I’m studying makeup rn) I would’ve felt very uncomfortable. This girl works close to bts but does not know them personally.

 

Edit: people saying that she wouldn’t wear that in a work environment, are y’all forgetting where she works? Girl groups walk around with shorts so tight and short that half their ass is almost out, and it’s OKAY. No one cares, this girl could be one of the stylists that provide them w the clothes and she probably cares about what she wears. I think it's a matter of age and experience than, I also used to think like that and have that kind of naive attitude. Girls groups are idols and they're making a stage performance, they for sure wouldn't dress like that if they were working as stage assistant. Ah, they work hand in hand 24 hours a day seven days a week, yes. They know them.

There's a whole movement, the me too movement that says we are far from it but again, I didn't considerate that there are a lot of young people in the forum so it's my fault. Regardless, I disagree with taking screenshots of female staffs and questioning what they wear to their work place.

I'm not invalidating opinions, I'm saying that a certain type of thinking could be justified (I hope) only by inexperience, and sorry but I couldn't let pass people saying "questioning what they wear to their work place" like I'm judging them or I'm questioning what they're wearing, that is a thread dedicated to proof that could take someone to say a certain idol is gay and the point that I made was dedicated to that, it could take to a constructive discussion and the fact that there is who writes

If Jimin is straight I'll eat my shoes. He's part of a clique where about everyone else is very suspicious, so straightness is extremely unlikely. I agree it's hard to tell whether he's gay/bi/pan though, since he's a flirt with about everyone he meets.

I don't know what Jimin's orientation is and I'm not saying this to argue he's straight, but my original interpretation of that footage was those guys being curious/impressed at MinJoon walking around with a camera crew and Jimin saw that and was proud/pleased about it. I mean maybe he was checking them out, it's possible, but there's a couple of scenes in BV where you suddenly realise that while we only see two boys in a shot there's actually like six people around them.

I interpreted that scene the same way. Also he's such a flirt, if a bunch or even one girl pass near me checking me out I would totally look back to her doing the same "game" but it doesn't mean I'm interested, then everybody has their own personality so who knows

I feel like, if you were friends with that guy as a dancer, you'd know he was gay

lol poor dancers, I know a lot of professional dancers that are hetero and married with beautiful women (and popular among the LGBT+ community too), anyway the first time where I thought he could be really gay/bi (PURE speculation, just my dirty way of interpreting things)

 

When in that famous vlive with Jungkook and Tae they were talking about "playing games" and he with his weasel look said "I'm not playing anything right now, but I was pretty good at it one year ago" with Jungkook trying to make the most expressionless face in the world. Assuming there was a double meaning, with who could he had a relationship if not with a person from their team (so a male dancer)?
