Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

i have a lot i wanna say re the past few pages but i’m on mobile so,, sorry this is a mess!! i’ve been sick so it’s a bumch of stuff crammed into one

is the caption accurate or...? i can’t tell if it’s legit or not and i cba to go digging.

jin being a whole chaotic gay, again.

predebut changbin? me too.

not really ot, about coming out kind of?

as i was typing this it made me realize,,, it really seems like ten wants to come out, what do you guys think are the chances of sm letting him ? probably slim to none, but they've been getting more and more lgbt-hinty lately, and holland is pretty successful (even tho maybe not as much in korea).. i just wanna hear someone elses thoughts on this lmao

i feel like ten’s gonna end up being someone that’s in an even more obvious glass closet than heechul?? i highly doubt sm would let him come out, but i can see he himself giving so many obvious hints that he’s basically come out, just without written confirmation. like, not directly going against sm by coming out but also being pretty much undeniably gay. maybe later in his life after nct something may be confirmed.

besides suho and donghwan, sehun and chef suke, heechul and gunhee, is there any other relationship that's pretty much obvious

ps: don't turn this into a shipping thing, unless you can provide good proof like the couples mentioned before

legit sometimes I think sometimes there is/ was something going on between taehyung and park bogum

same re: taegum. i don’t even know how to behin to categorise it.

I know they just debuted and we don't have much stray kids content, but what are you guys opinion on felix and changbin?? their relationship reminds me a bit of vernon and seungkwan in their pre-debut days. felix seems to stick to him like glue lmao but it could just be fan service idrk

YTX0Lj2.gif

It feels fanservice-y to me, but most things do lol. They seem to have gotten closer since the show? Felix does ping for me, and Changbin to a lesser extent, but for separate and different reasons.

also, felix in that gifset reminds me of that pokemon or anime character or whatever it was with the emo hair and mask

literally disregard this because it could have no relevancy whatsoever but from my experience as a sydney-sider and as a friend of someone who knew felix from church, the type of guys felix hung out with are the typical suuuuuper hypebeast fuckboys who take lgbt as like a joke (on the train, there's like a herd of them and every two seconds you can hear something along the lines of "u gay c*nt" .(not saying for felix but it's like the western sydney teenage church Korean boy starter pack)

Like that's pre much why im sceptical that felix isnt straight bc they often joke about these sorta things(ie. actually being gay) ? (those formal photos,, perfectly encapsulate what im tryna explain about the asian fuckboy) SO im not saying that's it's 100% that he's straight but i just think the way he's acting doesn't really indicate anything ???

Thanks for sharing. I wouldn't know either way but I'll definitely take your word for it, as someone from there. Agreed on the bolded part. I've seen people (elsewhere) argue two completely opposing things based on those same pictures so I wasn't sure what to believe.

I'm not someone who puts as much stock in stereotypes as most anyway. I know I wouldn't fit most people's idea of what a gay male is like (played competitive sports and was kind of a fighter in high school, for example) and I know multiple LGBT+ individuals who fit the stereotype even less than I do.

I'm gonna counter anecdote this, but it's more relating to 'culture' than actual LGBT+ topics, so I'll cut it ;

I have no idea what it's like in Sydney, but up here, yeah we have a tonne of those hypebeast dudes, but a lot of them are just... ignorant? and they can't be bothered to take the time to learn. They'll often call each other 'gay' or 'fag' but they don't actually have any problems with gay people, except for the few select assholes. Hell, even my own friends will call each other 'fag' in wrong of me (I've given up trying to teach them; they're too thickheaded to learn). Also, I have no clue about down there, but here, whilst a lot of kids attend religious schools, only about 10% of them actually actively practice and/or believe in the religion my religion teacher struggled so much #prayformrl***. I was kind of shocked when I found out Felix is actually actively religious.

Delving into super-anecdote territory, I've had mates that were so concerned about not being 'bloke-y' enough that they repressed their sexuality to the point of being 'homophobic'. One dude in particular was like, stereotypical hot footy player - he came out as bi after he got with his (bi) girlfriend and realised he can still be a bloke even if he also likes them (to quote him in 2015: "Two girls or two guys kissing? That's just weird. I don't support gay marriage or whatever.", mind you, he said this after I came out to him and he remained friends with me and was never rude to me, so he wasn't 'that' bad.)

Back to my main point though, I'm basically agreeing with what you're saying about how you can't tell anything from stereotypes, but with an additional perspective towards how people act.

ngl i'm kind of curious of how many of these aussie fuckboy types are actually posturing and how much is real - if you look at the felix's crowds' behaviour from predebut vs. how he acts during the show, it makes me wonder which is more real.

I am going to potentially discredit everything I just said though by stating that I come from what is pretty much one of the most sex positive (std positive ohdearplz.png ), drug positive, LGBT positive places in the country, so it could be different from Sydney, I don't know.

Sorry for the shitty formatted mini-essay lol, I don't even remember what I originally wanted to say, I'm just rambling at this point (still in the midsts of a fever rlytearpls.png ). Basically, just, at this point in time, unless there's other things that point otherwise, I don't think Felix's predebut actions/crowd should have much stock put in them, much like his actions with Changbin.

I don't mean to discredit your own experiences with people or anything, I'm just giving mine to add another viewpoint.

your train quote gave me such kick btw,,,, it's so fucking true??

also i gotta wonder what his high school mates think of the whole idol schtick. chan i'm not as curious about as he's been in korea for so damn long but yeah. same goes for joshua hong's crowd. it'd be interesting to see what people think.

+ About the whole Felix debate, I think it's important to keep in mind that idols get trained how to act in order to present a good image to the (mainly korean lbr) audience, so maybe the apparent contrast between his predebut photos and his current behaviour could be partially due to that. From my experience, people tend to change certain habits and behaviours according to what the environment they're at is like.

...don't remind me

your question about which behaviour is real is actually what i was wondering lol,, it's such like?? i was thinking about the some hypebeast fuckboys that ik and then them acting the way felix does when he's with stray kids is so?? like disconcerting? like i can't even picture it but felix is out there doing his thing even though he was pre much one of those guys. and yea ignorance is DEFINITELY one of the reasons for why they act the way they act.

also im on mobile so i can't multiquote but @morgiana:

wow thank you for actually saying what i was trying to say in my post before. idt it was an act because its literally just how basically everyone IS and thinks so he was just conforming to the norm ?

also about the religious schooling thing(in regards to the conversation about joshua); like someone waaay back said about american-koreans in generally forward places like LA are still kinda homophobic because their churches are still very big on emphasising that gay marriage is bad, etc. that's pre much the koreans in sydney too. so yes felix would be very #praisethel*** but like so many people have said before,,being christian doesn't mean ur straight

i think im allowed to say this bc i have literally no proof whatsoever? (but ill defs delete it if someone tells me too cuz i dont wanna cause any trouble) but felix has had a gf before, but again it prolly means nothing at all for anything but just thought it kinda proves that literally all those hypebeast f*ckboys literally just do whatever everyone else does.

Yeah, exactly. I could ponder on this for hours with how much of peoples personalities are shaped by those around them, regardless of if it's how they truly feel or what else. I've seen it so many times, firsthand, and it still amazes me just how ,,,people are. Hell, I've done it but I couldn't keep up the act for very long and ended up alienating a fair few people. (sorry i feel like venting so

recently, i was in a situation where a lot of people were thrown out of their usual comfort zone and forced to interact with others, with little regard for social cliques. the same people that acted like they hated me turned out to be quite nice, and entirely different from how they portray themselves. that's not to say that how they act all the time is fake, but that there's two sides to every coin, i guess, and how easily influenced we are by our peers. in this same situation, i had someone come out to me, even though we'd never spoken or gotten along before. they said, and i quote, "you know, i'm actually bisexual. don't anyone though, you're the only one i've told, not even [their best friend] knows. i'd never, like, hit on any of the same gender from school. sorry, you probably feel uncomfortable now or whatever." and honestly? i was shocked. their friends - they're not homophobic, i know that because i'm partially out to them. hopefully they won't somehow come across this post (they're a kpop stan too lmao) but yeah.

once the situation we were in returned to normal, everyone went back to how it was before. we all returned to how we're supposed to act, and that was that. i ran into the person i was closest with during that time the other day, with her friends, they were frankly being pack b*****s although she wasn't taking part. we didn't talk or anything, just shared a glace. she didn't want part in what was ging on but 'had' to in a sense, simply because it was what everyone else is doing

tl;dr: society sucks

)

I second what you've said in response to Morigana's post, they're much better at forming points into something more concise than I am lmao.

Is there quite a heavy religious presence in Sydney? I know there is in America, but honestly, I never really got the sense of that from Aus - aside from the christian lobby rolleyes.gif. Not amongst the younger generation, at least. Like I said in my last post, up here around Brisbane it's just quite, well, very few actively practice, and I'd only ever attended Catholic institutions. Not that there's anything necessarily bad with being religious or anything, I myself am not wholly non-religious, just that, yeah. I kinda forget where I was going. Religion absolutely has nothing to do with sexuality.

I also agree that religion has really nothing to do with being LGBT or not, and it's not like going to a religious school was his choice anyway. In his "thank you" page from the album, he mentioned God a few times (as well as his friends and teachers back home) so I think it'll be interesting to see if he continues like that, or starts to grow apart from it little by little like how Joshua is doing.

I've heard abt him having a gf but the one I saw was from a YT comment so i really don't know how legit that is. Either way, it's not very important because he's still young and probably still figuring out his sexuality, he could be anything from straight to bi or pan or gay and tbh I wouldn't be surprised.

Is Joshua moving away from it? I don't stan svt as heavily as I do other groups. Whatever it is, I hope he's doing what he wants.

i've heard about the girlfriend thing before too, i'm not surprised at all lmao. whether straight/bi/gay or whatever, it's pretty much expected. honestly i'm kinda shocked there hasn't been more infomation been released but,,, we'll see. at the end of the day, teenagers are teenagers. doesn't mean things can't change.

i sound like i'm 50 years old i'm so sorry

Namjoon recommended Kafka on the Shore again. He seems to really like it.

I don’t know if any of the other books have LGBT themes, I googled them but not much came up.

Chan saying “It’s so hot’†to Minho’s dance ft. Kevin fanning himself.

Felix said he would want to be Chan because of his body lmao.

you're joking, right?

no? i know yua’s recommendation of demian involves lgbt themes - this is the male idol’s thread, however. but aside from that there’s not many there i’m familiar with. i looked through most of the list, not all. most of them didn’t have a wikipedia page so i didn’t bother. i’ll go back and check now, though.

namjoon calling jimin sexy apart from his height ,,,smh

BigHit have to know what they’re doing. There’s no way you direct and write the HYYH things without realise that it’s highkey gay. (honestly at this point i’m kinda sus abt bang pd himself - he never married, right? - considering his rec of fools n other gay stuff)((gay!bighit conspiricies rise from the dust again))

upon reading the album notes,,, wow. my jaw actually dropped bevause that’s ridiculously overt. if yoonkook aren’t romantically linked in this i’ll eat my own shoe.

hyunjin’s surprisingly obvious,, they’ve barely debuted and already he’s admitted to crying over 1-800, got flustered by jinyoung, and smacked asses. this kid has a bright future in this thread lmao.

lol @ jo kwon comments ; he replied to someone in the videos on instagram with 6 rainbow emojis, which is nothing new, but still.

this is a little bit off topic? talking abt trans ppl ;

i’m actually kinda wondering if namjoon isn’f cis?? he doesn’t really,,,, ping,,,, for me but considering what he’s read/said/done i’m kinda sceptical? just... idk. he reminds me of me, i guess. and i mean, surely there’s someone[/] in the industry who ain’t.

i have so much respect for holland having done what he’s done, even though i do worry for his future (esp w military draught). i wish him the best in his future :)

edit: sorry for bad grammar i’m on mobile at an aeroplane terminal

First of all, can I say that I really love this song and video. It’s amazing and I’m so happy to see it coming from Ten.

Second of all, I’m gettinf real Troye Sivan-ish vibes from it, but aside from that, the lyrics are certainly empowering- talking about overcoming fears and such. Fuck I love Ten.

@ Aisling ;

it’s not... there’s not really anything in particular that makes me think so. i guess it’s just? a vibe? which doesn’t really mean much (there was the skirt thing but guys can wear skirts nbd). he just seems to remind me of myself, and how i kind of act. i do agree with tao, although i don’t stan. namjoon just really vibes.

to add on to the gif posted earlier.

i’ve seen guys with massive hickeys from their girls here, it’s a two way street.but oppa wld never have sex!!!! it’s just a bruise!!!!! they were only roughhousing!!!!

re ; the osaka thing

i honestly don’t think it’s possible to draw any conclusion from the video, we’re never gonna know what happened and there’s no way to know if it was sex or a fight or staff member or what going on at the end, and there’s not much that the jungkook’s room bit gives us either. something fishy was definitely up though.

I remember that in one of their vlives that was done in a restaurant a while ago, one of them refered to the waitress as "unnie", and it was later explained the korean men usually use "unnie" to be respectful but not too intimate to the waitress (or something)

I don't know if that explanation was right, but even with that, J-Hope's cypher pt3 verses had as different context so idk

A quick google tells me that it’s common to refer to waiterstaff, hairdressers, etc. as either noona/unnie or oppa/hyung (depending on their gender, ofc) regardless of closeness. All I could find in relation to men using unnie was, once again, within the gay community, but even then not many results were brought up (see: https://www.reddit.com/r/korea/comments/4slq1q/%EC%98%A4%EB%B9%A0_oppa_and_%EC%96%B8%EB%8B%88_unni_in_the_korean_gay_community/?st=JFPY89LA&sh=c5b16cf1)

It can be used with a meaning behind but i think is probably very rare.

Honestly i think people reach most of the times, like .. blue and pink lighting/ colors are everywhere in music videos in the past 3/4 years.

Yeah but, otoh, none of these cases are specifically rectangular in the exact order of the bi flag colours. When he’s dancing around in the pink suit you could say that yeah, it’s probably nothing, but I dunno, the bed scene strikes me as really odd because it's so,,, unnecessary?? I guess?

Hello :) I'm a longtime lurker.

I believe that boy was Felix biased but after that fansign he changed his bias to Hyunjin.

It was written on his instagram.

He said that Hyunjin was so nice to him and he fell hard :)

About stray kids, what do you guys think about Felix?

Aside from his undying love for Changbin he gives me ,,the vibe".

Welcome!!

If you search his name in the thread you’ll find the general opinion - there’s not too many posts thankfully. He gives some of us the bibe and others not, basically. There was also a conversation about his predebut vs. now but yeah. Mixed bag.

Thoughts on stray kids? They've been discussed before but they've been putting out a lot of content so some opinions may have solidified a bit

mentioned the other day but my thoughts are now;

hyunjin: 95% sure

chan: 50-50

minho: i can't tell if he's fanservice or for real but he's sus as fuck

seungmin: 60-70%

felix is up in there air mess he's just gotten more confusing. hyunjin is like........................... sis saying you cried at logic's 1-800 ain't het behaviour neither is that level of comfort highkey flirting with a fanboy. i'm not fully up to date tho i'm like a week behind on vlives and shit sigh.

  • 2 weeks later...

so namjoon wrote the song... interesting. especially considering he was involved in stigma.

my thoughts on the mv ;

so my first thought was certainly that the video is - suggestive? i guess? it’s not necessarily something i’d feel comfortable watching with my mother, that’s for sure. most of it can be explained away in arty terms, but the scene with the men all dancing with the coat racks definitely had me shocked. 4 dudes dancing with ‘empty shells’ meant to be female, but actually dancing with themselves?not to mention they we’re pretty well groomed. i’m interested to see what more is said about this video because, yeah, it’s certainly very.

i’m excited to finally have something to talk about lol. also, lumpens.

i agree the coat looks masculine but what about the skirts? whatever it means, the first scene is clearly really suggestive

Honestly, to me, the skirts are what make it that bit more questionable. The coat racks are there to symbolise an ‘empty shell’ of a person - a woman, judging by the skirts. Yet, it’s the blazer that is animated and personified in a sense. Without the skirts, it can be explained or viewed as the empty shell of Taehyung/the person themselves, yet by making it feminine that undermines that theory, unless we go into talks of gender identity. That was what struck me the most about the MV.

It also can be made to tie in with the masks; needing to appear as though you’re attracted to the opposite gender when you aren’t. The skirts, or women, are decoys - not real, lifeless, empty shells, just as the coat rack is.

Since it’s Lumpens, I’m going to go a little further and say that, in the context of the coat rack scenes and the lyrics, looking into tge colour scheme isn’t too much of a stretch. Pink is undeniably the colour most representative of the LGBT+ community, from the pink triangles to ‘pink is only for girls’. This hot pink mens jacket, placed over the top of a bland coloured dress is clearly meant to draw attention from the skirt and make the jacket the focus. Whether it’s due to the jacket having been animated through Taehyung’s hand or whether it’s meant to be for ‘pink’ reasons, we don’t know.

The dance is also interesting, as Taehyung appears to be torn between accepting the advances of this currently androgynous empty shell, or rejecting them - quite harshly for that matter. In line with the lyrics of being masked, it can be interpreted as though he’s torn between decisions due to the influences of what he’s meant to be or appear as, and what he really is. To me, it very much parallels the struggles with internalised homophobia or keeping up an appearance as would be shown in other art forms.

Fake Love, HYYH, and the Lollipop.

Summary of Thoughts on the Fake Love Teaser:

Analysis of Fake Love + HYYH YoonKook:

i’m going dot point style because i got sick of tryna type up an essay plus lbr no one reads them. mind you, this is all speculation obviously lol you know the drill.

Preface: It’s obvious that BigHit/BTS work with both main-text and subtext, shown from their lyrics eg. Namjoon + Yoongi’s mixtape, and with what they’ve said about their songs in interviews. Here, we’re mostly focusing on subtext.

Click here to view the Tweet

  • According to the notes, it’s implied YK had feelings for each other in high school, but YG ran away because he was scared. He didn’t want to hurt JK.

  • The teacher found YK in the abandoned classroom. Yoongi was playing the piano, and JK was laying on the desks. JK said he felt like crying, listening to Yoongi’s piano playing. In the next paragraph, JK is about to cry, then the teacher walks in and slaps JK, he “...stumbled backwards, and ultimately fell.†Somewhere between this paragraph and the last, JK moved from laying on the table to standing, about to cry. Yoongi didn’t return to school after this, and was rumoured to be expelled.

    • General consensus was that there was subtextual themes of homophobia present. There was no reason for the teacher to slap JK that we’re privy to, however, something did indeed happen in between those two scenes as shown by JK’s tears.

    • Yoongi then protected JK from the teacher, it’s reasonable to assume he took the blame for the situation.

  • JK appears to have a bad relationship with his parents. When he escaped to the abandoned classroom where Yoongi was, it was on Parents’ Day.

  • Jungkook has always been the one to ‘stabilise’ and ground Yoongi. With the exception of their fight, he blows out the lighter, drags him from the burning room, etc.

  • Following the theory of the girls being a manifestation of BTS’ conscience, or being meant to reunite the boys, hence why they seem to disappear once this happens.

    • JK’s girl remove JK’s earphone so that he was able to hear YG’s girl, who was playing a song that JK recognised, possibly as being from Yoongi. She had the lighter on the end of her guitar, with the initials ‘Y.K.’

    • JK texted Yoongi at the end of the clip.

      • Possible link back to the HYYH notes or the scene in the Highlight Reel where Yoongi reaches for his phone in his studio.

    • If you’re going with the ‘manifestation of conscience’ theory, it’s possible that it was in fact Yoongi playing the guitar at the hospital, rather than JK.

  • Yoongi says he wished not to ‘hurt’ JK, or be hurt himself, and that was why he left all those years back in high school. He didn’t have the confidence to ‘protect’ or ‘be protected’. For this same reason, when he saw Jungkook at the music store on the 7th of April 22, he intended to leave, but instead stayed. This was his first time seeing Jungkook since high school.

  • In Yoongi’s HYYH note from June 8th 22, he recalls a time when ‘they’ took an unidentified object from his hands and replaced it with a ‘lollipop and this shirt [that he’s wearing]’.

  • In the following paragraph, he receives a text message from a 3-letter name, making him snap his cigarette in half.

  • Possibly ì „ì •êµ [Jeon Jeongguk], êµ [Guk], or Guk.

    • The shirt Yoongi’s wearing isn’t his style, nor does it fit him, it’s clearly not his own.

    • To quote raspberry84, â€œI think it's less about referencing a real shirt and more about what is represents. The shirt, besides most likely belonging to another man/Jungkook, doesn't fit Yoongi. It doesn't fit, it feels wrong, even the word ‘dream’ seems off for him because Yoongi is the pessimist who has shut off the idea of ever being in the relationship he wants. After Jungkook texts him, he starts to believe that the dream/fantasy of being with Jungkook is a possibility.â€

    • The formatting fucked up here sorry.

  • In JK’s 16th July 22 HYYH note, he mentions singing along to a song. In the Highlight Reel, after hearing the song of YG’s girl, he is immediately brought back to a memory of him and Yoongi sitting at a piano, with him singing and Yoongi playing. This suggests that JK’s HYYH note is regarding Yoongi.

The Significance of the Lollipop:

tumblr_opozmn46vr1v6abmvo1_500.jpg

tumblr_oet5j5fSgN1ve9ewno4_540.jpg

tumblr_ou9yrwwCvp1qe8wvfo1_400.gif

‘Historically’, throughout BTS (and other artists) MV’s, lollipops have been used to represent cigarettes. Yoongi had his cigarette replaced with the yellow lollipop that appears in the Fake Love teaser by his girl in the Highlight Reel.

The lollipops appear to be tied back into JK’s ‘grounding’ of Yoongi, such as trading the negative (cigarettes) for the positive (lollipop), which is supported by JK’s taking of the lighter in I Need U/Run, and the magic shop in Fake Love. There seems to be an allusion of Yoongi quitting smoking because of JK, potentially picking it back up after ‘losing’ JK, but once he receives the text message mentioned in the June 8th 22 HYYH note and reconnects with Jungkook, he quits again, hence the snapping of the cigarette. We weren’t shown what Yoongi gave the magic shop, but there’s a chance it was a lighter or cigarette.

Other Observations:

  • In DNA, Jungkook is wearing a shirt with ‘LOVED’ written on it, and Yoongi is wearing a sweater 2 scenes later with ‘LOVED’ on it.

  • In Singularity, Taehyung is wearing an earring saying ‘LOVED’

  • There was a coat rack present in Run when Jimin goes to open the door into the bathroom where the rest of BTS are.

thanks to raspberry84, cheapthrills, hella, jinsus, and heckate !!

anyway watch this most likely be proven completely wrong once the mv comes out and we gotta do it all again but let’s see.
