Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

What are you talking about? This is not my theory. That's another user's explanation, also doesn't even mention Taekook. Why don't you watch the video, then see which is more logical and tell your own opinion? Much better than accusing people with absurd things.

I know it's not your theory. It doesn't matter; you're presenting it as though it's the right one. I've made it pretty clear that I find them both ridiculous.

if you want to post shippy things, please feel free to do so, you are a free person, this thread is open to everyone

but if you get negged, own it, dont go around making drama saying that you're suffering prejudice

and think that this thread, unlike the rest OH, has a lot of LGBT people in it, so you all running your mouths saying that you are suffering prejudice leave a VERY sour taste in our mouths

Exactly. You've hit the nail on the head. This whole argument was triggered by a poster who cried "prejudice" after being negged, despite regularly submitting posts of a shippy nature (often as evidence) while claiming that they're not a shipper. This ridiculous victim complex quite rightly pissed people off.

i should just let it be but

This whole argument was also triggered by mass downvoting a harmless post while being completely fine and upvoting similar posts by idk nct members, for instance. ofc they felt attacked

I honestly was agreeing at first but the way yall were/are going at them like they killed yalls cat is like..chill

I don't want to drag it out either but I think this is an important point.

There wouldn't have been such a negative reaction if Josaline weren't so brazenly dishonest about her intentions. Making shippy posts in a "who do you think is gay?" thread while insisting you're not a shipper will not win you any friends.

Important question. I've just watched the new Jungkook's GCF in Osaka and read the lyrics of the song and well... Does it mean that we should cross out the lyrics of the song in GCF in Tokyo as a proof of gay subtext of the video?

Huh? What's the connection? The Osaka video features multiple members.

Besides, it was never "proof of gay subtext", just something that people found notable (i.e. potentially meaningful) in the context of that video and the way it was shot. This new video doesn't change that.

Yeah, and this is what I am exactly talking about. Maybe I didn't make it clear but I meant that Osaka one is about member's trip and the song doesn't match the plot of the video. Can we make a conclusion that it means that Jungkook doesn't pay attention to the lyrics in his videos? If yes, the choice of the song in GCF Tokyo was also random without paying attention to the lyrics. That what I was trying to say.

No, I understand you; I just think it's faulty logic. Jungkook himself has said that he pays attention to lyrics. He wouldn't pick music that was completely inappropriate. But that doesn't mean there always needs to be a connection between the video and the lyrics. What exactly was the "plot" of this video?

Whether or not a particular song choice hints at something meaningful is up for debate, but you definitely can't conclude from this video that he "doesn't pay attention to lyrics".

Why is logic faulty? What is appropriate in choosing song about breakup in the vid about you chilling with your bandmates? And this is a plot: bandmates chilling together. And that was a plot in GCF Tokyo as well.

So, we have two GCFs about chilling with bandmates. In one of them lyrics match the vid itself and may be telling something. In other lyrics have nothing common with vid at all and therefore don't tell anything.

Is this logic right?

How can you possibly determine his reasons for picking a song in one video based on his choice of song for a different video? By "inappropriate" I meant likely to offend or upset. A song used as background music doesn't have to be related to the content of the video but you can't seriously be suggesting that Jungkook doesn't check the lyrics beforehand. We don't know whether the GCF Tokyo song choice is significant, but why are you so desperate to rule out any possibility that it could be?

my two cents ;

i’m all for straight evidence tbh so long as it’s not utterly ridiculous. there’s no way to have an objective opinion without seeing information from both sides. lillya did nothing wrong, it’s as simple as that. they never claimed jungkook was het, nor were rude and shut down any possibility of discussion otherwise, they just stated that, based off what they’ve seen, they don’t think jungkook is strictly homosexual.

can it be left at that before it turns into another 5 pages of arguing?

I have no problem with straight evidence but "ridiculous" is exactly the word I'd use to describe what was presented here. I mean, did you watch that video?

Example: i wrote a long essay about Woohyun from Infinite one time. A few weeks later, i mention that i think Woohyun is gay. Some new visitors of the thread ask for the receipt. So if we can somehow link receipts or something

The link for a specific post is at the top right (where the post # and share icon is). Or are you referring to something else?

Just some more coincidence about Jimin & Jungkook November 8

If you don't know, supporters believe about November 8 to be the anniversary of those two.
GCF in Tokyo was uploaded in November 8, but now ARMY discovered Jimin & Jungkook's Tokyo hotel room number too was 1108

I read the post. The author didn't "discover" Jimin and Jungkook's room number, but rather guessed it based on the position of her own room. Considering the fact that you can't pick a particular room number when making an online booking, I'm not convinced by this theory. The whole "November 8th anniversary" thing still seems far-fetched to me, but I'm curious to see if anything happens this year.

hate to be the mood killer but for the most part its because its such a stereotypical yet for the most part highly accurate gauge if someone is straight or not.

as much as i hate stereotyping and i know non heterosexuality comes in very wide variants but masculine gay/bi/etc. men are the minority among the thousands of flamboyant gay guys.

While flamboyant behaviour can be an indicator that someone is gay, lack of flamboyant behaviour certainly does not indicate that someone is straight. There are far more non-flamboyant gay men than you think. It's incorrect to suggest that gay men who don't conform to the stereotype are somehow defying the norm.

UM....Jimin tried to convince Jungkook to come with him to eat because hes hungry by kissing his neck 3 times??? Is this how he gets what he wants? What's going on

https://twitter.com/613_upload/status/1045290682338799617

Apparently (according to people on Twitter) he was just whispering "Jungkook, I'm hungry" into his ear, which is probably more likely, but it was still a weirdly intimate moment. Did he really need to get so close and turn his whole head into Jungkook's neck like that?

I can hear his speak clearly? He said " I'm hungry " whiny tone. They even did subtitles.

The clearly spoken subtitled lines end before the weird noises start, and there's a pretty clear kiss-like sound after he finishes speaking. That being said, I don't think he actually kissed him.

Whatever he was doing, it wasn't exactly typical behaviour for a straight male.

This whole Vhope thing sounds like a joke to me. To me J-Hope doesn't show any different interest Taehyung than shows to the others. He kissed and hugs all their maknae lines. I think the closeness he showed to Jimin is more intimate than he's showing with Taehyung. When it comes to Taehyung, he has always loved to talk about the people he adores. From the moment he first entered the team, he never shut up his admiration for Hobi and his talents. But he does this for Suga, for Jungkook, for RM, and for Jimin. He just wants to praise the people he loves and to make them feel better.

The above discussion was about possible signs of attraction that Taehyung exhibited towards Hoseok in the past. It's like you're reacting to something completely different. Hoseok's feelings towards Taehyung were barely mentioned. I'm also not sure why you're describing it as a "joke" when it's quite clear that everyone was being sincere.

I've never really subscribed to the VHope theories, but Taehyung previously having a crush on Hoseok is probably more believable than any of the BTS ships.

Shipping is different with supporting, it's the same conversation just before, isn't it?

But, supporting is different like this too. In jikookers, fake evidences pointed out and shamed is usual. I think taekooker's are only doing such fake evidences out of any of BTS's couples maybe. I never saw such behavior before.

Furthermore, pot calling the kettle black? I never never deny it if Jungkook or Jimin show the attraction to other people. I never deny close with other people too. I said before (maybe here, I don't remember) I think Jungkook and V attractive to each other, but no more above that. Jimin loves to be flirt around, he has such a personality. Jungkook had the crush for RM in a younger time, very obviously. I will never deny such things, because I don't care about that who with they are dating, it is that just I think they are dating with each other. If tomorrow Jungkook or Jimin says "I have a girlfriend/boyfriend" and that is not about each other... I will confused, but support 100%

Even furthermore, there are many of extremely suspicious behaviors recently. But did I post them to here? No. This thread's members did make that clear about they don't want to see. I respect it. Even jikook trended globally on twitter because of their behavior, I endure and do not make posts. Even it's okay to be post similar things about other couples and ships. But I never get the respect back. So I will only read from now.

If you want "respect", I suggest you stop trying to ignite shipping wars by singling out a particular group of fans for fabricating evidence. Both Taekook and Jikook have legions of fervent supporters who get very easily carried away and behave inappropriately.

There isn't an anti-Jikook agenda. I mean, only a couple of weeks ago there were posts about Jimin feeling up Jungkook on stage and they weren't negged. But the thing about "suspicious behaviour" is that little of it is actually suspicious once you stop assuming that the individuals involved are anything more than friends. If I recall correctly, the time Jikook trended globally was when they posted screenshots from a video call they had late at night while sitting in the same room. That isn't something worth discussing in a "Who do you think is gay?" thread.

By all means post Jikook moments if they really do suggest romantic/sexual attraction, but always stop to ask yourself if it only looks that way because it's feeding into beliefs you already held about the nature of their relationship.

Wasn't it's just a camera angle. She was sitting on his lap. As soon as she noticed the cameras, she got up and ran away. Even Jungkook grabbed her wrist and tried to stop her.

first 40 seconds

No, she wasn't sitting on his lap. Just watch the first few seconds of the video.

Damn. Now my YouTube recommendations are going to filled with absurd "BTS dating staff??" videos.

It generally fascinates me how that video is seen as proof that JK is possibly into Jimin; not dismissive at all, I just don't personally see it/didn't know that was the interpretation until after I saw it for the following reasons: V is there as well, it's the three of them, and there's just as much V as Jimin. Watching it again, notice that when V and Jimin are in the same frame, who's center, who interacts with the camera more (Also, when it's framed on Jimin, that means V is probably walking next to JK.) And who it ends on?

It sounds like you're talking about the Osaka video. Binggeul is referencing the Tokyo one. Have you not seen it? I don't think you'd confuse them.

Link:

Obviously it's not proof that Jungkook has romantic feelings for Jimin but it understandably raised a few eyebrows when it came out.

I did see that one, thank you! *watches again with open mind, tries to pretend she knows nothing about the people in the video*

WHY IS JIMIN SO CUTE AHHHHHH I can't take it

Hmmmm okay same thought as before, truly - he's a budding director filming his friend and playing with lots of cool tricks. That slow-mo with dramatic music is something he does a lot, and I don't see anything more than Jimin being incredibly magnetic as always.

That's fine, but looking at your previous posts, I suspect you'd be saying something quite different if it were Taehyung and not Jimin in the video.

People see what they want to see. Once you're convinced that a ship is real, it's very easy to interpret every interaction in a way that supports your beliefs, and that includes dismissing potential meaningful interactions between other members.

Personally, I think it's very clear that both Jimin and Taehyung adore Jungkook. Their fondness for him is particularly strong and he gets more attention from them than any other member. Are there romantic feelings at play? Possibly. I don't know. There are certain moments between them that suggest to me that Jimin or Taehyung aren't straight, but it's a much bigger leap to say that Jikook or Taekook are actually in a relationship. That seems very unlikely in my view. I can't imagine the three of them acting the way they currently do around each other if there were anything going on between them.

Right but then we get into the Shipping Wars: Battle of the Sus Songs - Jungkook and his Weepy Pop Edition, and end up with this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCbRdkhieGc Go check out the music video of DNA, start at 1:13. Note that whole section, who's in it, especially 1:23. Jungkook may be the moon (he once called himself Army's Moon), symbolism they use consistently. In Idol, there's a rabbit in a moon, both JK avatars. In concert, they sang that part of DNA this way multiple times. Revisit Moonchild and 4 O'Clock with the thought JK is the moon again.

Rabbit (ha!) hole time? When Jungkook went through his sad cover phase he *supposedly* kept posting screenshots of the songs in Twitter( they appear to be gone now, the shots exist, but who knows) and pausing them at 1:23. Think BTS birthdays. (And don't tell me RM, BH and BTS wouldn't do all this in official videos, these are the same people who brought us the insanely complicated video AU. I swear they live for this sh$t.)

Man, they love the romantic serenade.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzZC3VPnggo JK sings weepy song outside Tae's room in BV

Same song, again:

Stumbled upon that while looking for the BV clip

And this happened, after during a Vlive when Tae texted on camera to Jungkook he was coming over without mentioning he was filming, when he got there *JK was naked* (why?) and had to throw on that robe(and Tae's reaction was hilarious, also, just strolled on in) - no pronouns changed:

There are *so many things like this* (like we can get into their enjoyment of matching Tiffany's jewelry, for example, or tendency to get frisky at award shows, Vlives are a damn bonanza) - I so far can't be swayed over some editing and a song he loves in a travel video. Hell what sways me the most against it is it's like too much, what the hell. Is this a drama being played out over social media by two stupidly beautiful international superstars? Goddamn, I *must* be crazy.(Sorry, this movie we're watching is really boring, I love a good research session.)

I am seriously here to be proven wrong. I LIKE being proven wrong, every official personality test I've ever taken is that I'm a learner above all else, and that trumps being right. But just because it seems too good to be true that these two are together for the straight crowd doesn't mean it can't be; that seems just as dismissive as 'well, most people aren't gay so they're probably not gay, idea rejected.'

In short, bless these beautiful, gay kittens, because they are the most delightful of delights

With all due respect, this is the sort of thing I was referring to with my "people see what they want to see" comment.

Supporters of other popular ships can produce pages of similar-looking evidence that is just as convincing (or unconvincing) to a neutral observer.

A lot of shippers don't realise this because they suffer from tunnel vision. By only following Twitter accounts or Tumblr blogs dedicated to their ship, they're oblivious to so much content concerning other members. When combined with wishful thinking (and there's always a lot of that), it's very easy to start thinking "only [X] and [Y] are like this!"

I think ships have a lot in common with religions. The staunchest believers are all convinced that theirs is true but have no way of proving it. If they're rival ships, the analogy is even better because only one (or none of them) can be true.

To all the people saying asking ideal types in interviews aren't helping, I think they are, in a subtle way because asking ideal types means to ask sexuality.

Remember Suga said his ideal type isn't limited to girls. I think many LGBTQ idols know that we people understand nuances that delusional fangirls don't.

He didn't actually say that. I'll copy and paste a comment I made about this several months ago.

This quote is often mistranslated or at least misinterpreted. The key expression "異性ã«é™ã‚‰ãš" does mean "not limited to the opposite sex" but in Japanese, "opposite sex" is a very common (and heteronormative) way of referring to men or women in a romantic context, essentially meaning "people for whom there exists a sexual/romantic interest". In my view (as someone who can read Japanese), that's how it's being used here. Add to that the fact that it's unlikely Yoongi would out himself in a Japanese magazine interview in 2014 and you start to see why this interpretation is more likely.

Here's the original Japanese:

"僕ã¯æ€§æ ¼ã¨é›°å›²æ°—。僕ã¯æ±ºã¾ã£ãŸç†æƒ³ã®ã‚¿ã‚¤ãƒ—ã¨ã„ã†ã‚ˆã†ãªã‚‚ã®ã¯ãªã„ã§ã™ã€‚異性ã«é™ã‚‰ãšã€å°è±¡ã‚„相手ãŒé†¸ã—出ã—ã¦ã„る雰囲気ã§ã€ã‚ã£ã“ã®äººã¨ãƒ•ィーリングãŒåˆã„ãã†ã‹ãªã¨ã„ã†ã“ã¨ã‚’é‡è¦–ã—ã¦ã„ã¾ã™ã€‚"

This is how I'd translate it:

"I look at personality and atmosphere. I don't have anything like a set ideal type. What's important for me—and not just with those of the opposite sex—is whether I feel I will click with that person judging from (first) impressions and the atmosphere they give off."

It certainly doesn't say "my ideal type is not limited to women". Of course, the fact that he's mentioning other genders at all could be significant—I'm not presenting a case for Yoongi being straight here. However, arguments for him being bi/pan/whatever probably shouldn't use this quote as a central piece of evidence. At the very least it isn't proof.

It's ok. Believe me, I didn't close my eyes to other possibilities. Let's approach from another perspective. We all agree that Jimin is flirting with the guy here, right?

I'm thinking... If I was in relationship with someone, I wouldn't have flirted with someone else in front of them. This isn't like flirting with women to play some straight game. He's flirting with a guyHe's doing this while sitting next to Jungkook. He doesn't hesitate to talk about handsome guys he sees. He doesn't hesitate to look at the some guys he sees on the streets. He doesn't hesitate to eyeing handsome men he saw in the programs. I mean... He's giving me signals that's he's not with anyone, open to relationship. I think Jimin is gay or at least bisexual but I don't think he's have a romantic relationship with Jungkook.

This is your idea of "approaching from another perspective"? Trying to show that Jimin is single to add weight to your Taekook theories? What? You didn't address the core complaint of the person you were replying to, who, by the way, didn't even mention Jimin.

I'm not sure I've ever seen you make a post where you're not either trying to convince someone of the significance of a (usually uninteresting) Taekook moment or downplaying interactions that Taehyung or Jungkook have with other members (because it threatens your precious ship).

There's not even an attempt to appear objective.

The series of posts you made after telling a Jikook shipper "you see what you want to see" indicate a staggering lack of self-awareness.

Not here to push the whole Tae x JK thing hard, since I've been thoroughly dismissed as delusional (I don't get it, I really don't, they're one step away from making out in the middle of a concert with Namjoon holding a boombox blasting "Moonchild" over their head and it's ten times more extra than 70% of the examples on this thread, but I mutteringly accept it).

Shouldn't the simple fact that a bunch of non-straight people who would love to see LGBT representation in K-pop are urging you to take off your shipper glasses be enough to tell you that you seriously need to rethink the way you examine male-male relationships?

You describe Taekook as "one step away from making out in the middle of a concert" and wonder why you're being dismissed as delusional? Come on.

Even if gender-neutral pronouns are totally normal in Korean, if Jimin was straight, wouldn't he just go with the flow that Namjoon and JK set by saying "she/her"? But he chose to divert from the established pattern of the group. I'm not saying it's definite proof or anything, plus Jimin has stronger receipts out there anyway, but it seems worth questioning at least

You usually don't need to use words like "she" or "her" at all when speaking Korean because subjects and objects are dropped from sentences when they're clear from the context. I'm assuming Jimin didn't use any personal pronouns in his answer. It doesn't mean he was trying to avoid them.

I've been lurking this thread for a while since I rarely post here because of how hostile this thread is but honestly I agree. And honestly taekook is only the ship in BTS that's real and idk how people disagree. You can obviously see that while bts is open minded some members especially suga and rm look down on their relationships. The rest of bts is straight. They even admitted they thought about disbanding and why do you think that is? It's because they're afraid of what could happen if taekook os exposed to the general public and are worried about their mental health as well as their careers. Stop forcing being gay on BTS it's disrespectful to actual gay couples like Taekook. How can you look at these posts and not see the raw romance

Pasting a comment I've made before regarding the Yoongi quote. Apologies to those who've seen it before.

TL;DR: he almost certainly didn't out himself as bi.

This quote is often mistranslated or at least misinterpreted. The key expression "異性ã«é™ã‚‰ãš" does mean "not limited to the opposite sex", but in Japanese (and many other languages), "opposite sex" is a very common (and heteronormative) way of referring to the sex that someone (assumed straight) is romantically or sexually attracted to. My interpretation of that expression in this context is "not just people for whom there exists a romantic interest". When you consider the fact that it's unlikely Yoongi would out himself in a Japanese magazine interview in 2014, this interpretation makes much more sense than the alternatives.

Here's the original Japanese:

"僕ã¯æ€§æ ¼ã¨é›°å›²æ°—。僕ã¯æ±ºã¾ã£ãŸç†æƒ³ã®ã‚¿ã‚¤ãƒ—ã¨ã„ã†ã‚ˆã†ãªã‚‚ã®ã¯ãªã„ã§ã™ã€‚異性ã«é™ã‚‰ãšã€å°è±¡ã‚„相手ãŒé†¸ã—出ã—ã¦ã„る雰囲気ã§ã€ã‚ã£ã“ã®äººã¨ãƒ•ィーリングãŒåˆã„ãã†ã‹ãªã¨ã„ã†ã“ã¨ã‚’é‡è¦–ã—ã¦ã„ã¾ã™ã€‚"

This is how I'd translate it:

"I look at personality and atmosphere. I don't have anything like a set ideal type. What's important for me—and not just with those of the opposite sex—is whether I feel I will click with that person judging from (first) impressions and the atmosphere they give off."
