And well, indeed, the whole convo is effing awkward... I'd guess they had a fight. One that isn't revolved. Otherwise they would just probably have said that they're very close and fight like "only brothers do yay" (but now that I think about it, they seem quite secretive about their fights).

And it seems like it's about the whole "used to hang out a lot before debut but not anymore" ? But I'm a little taken aback here. Aren't they best friends (at least) ? I don't know why exactly, but I'm smelling jealousy (what kind though ?).

 

Edit : OR when Haechan said they used to hang out but "after debut...", he just meant that they can't hang out like this anymore because they're too busy with work. In which case there's no heterosexual explanation for this. Even if Johnny was just teasing them about their closeness, if they ping to their own members who live with them, then there must be a reason why (Jaehyun already did once if I remember correctly).

 

I really don't think they fought that bad though? Like out of context it seems it but they have had plenty of close moments recently and are clearly still friends with each other. So in that case, why would the other members find it so funny that the MC might ask about their relationship? I always thought in the past there was a bit of one sided crushing from Haechan but maybe it was actually the other way

Its so frustrating because Jaehyun is so good at acting and spotting cameras. The moment he senses eyes on him he goes into "touchy, charming, flirty" mode, and he makes it feel so natural. I think that even if he was in a relationship with a girl, he would be just as cautious. What's worse is that I have no idea what he was like predebut. At least with Taeyong we know he was a huge introvert and a nerd (which he occasionally references back to in his lyrics), so in-your-face fan-service that we see on camera is 101% set up.

 

I didn't (and don't) stan NCT but for some reason, the moment I saw these two, I thought "everyone must ship them". And it's not because they're two attractive men that stand a little too close to each other and would look cute together. I genuinely had this gut feeling that their relationship was different.

 

What I find most interesting is Ten's reaction to them. Lots of people here think Ten had a crush on Taeyong, and it sometimes feels like Ten pays him (and his interactions) a bit more attention compared to the rest of NCT. I always look out to see if Ten looks surprised or worried when Taeyong and Jaehyun interact.

 

Jaehyun doesn't give too much away about himself but from his radio show we know he entered talent shows at school singing girl group songs dressed in girls clothes, we know he was sensitive and cried a lot. We know he is close to his parents (only child) and that there isn't a huge age gap with his dad.

 

 

Jaehyun is flirty and fanservicey for sure and he manages his image well but then he sometimes just drops bombshells really confidently?! Maybe because he's sure everyone will treat it as a joke. Like I can't remember exactly but when he talks about Doyoung's bro he was just straight up 'I like your brother... a lot' or something like that. I get a sense he likes seeing what he can get away with, he is more mischievous than he might seem.

Obviously a wide range of choices AND it's a playlist by all three of them AND the music you like doesn't necessarily say anything about you as a person but I'm giving Taeyong major side eyes for choosing Frank Ocean 'Thinkin Bout You' and Syd 'Body' - both songs where the singers explicitly use same sex pronouns! Yes NCT even if they're all straight as a ruler I like how they seem open minded and accepting in general as a group

But the existence of that Google Doc bolsters my theory that they (probably mostly Jaehyun) got camera shy and cut off their interections with each other while also stepping up their skinship and fan service with other members to shift attention and scrutiny away from themselves. Now if there are other compilations of three years of clingy suspect interactions between them and other members, I would not be opposed to seeing them and re-evaluating my stance on Jaeyong if it means more gay

I agree. Whatever their actual relationship fans started to get way too involved long ago and they clearly addressed that. This document existing at all reminds me of when Tumblr was all about Harry and Louis from 1D being secret lovers and the fans were obsessed with proving it. I think in that case they just completely stopped even looking at each other on stage. I hope NCT fans would be respectful and not openly talk to them about it

Jaehyun gets away with so much when it comes to evidence, it's both sad and hilarious. If Ten or even Taeyong (y'all finally saw his gay light God bless) showed half as much interest in men as he does and with such flippant attitude, they'd be toast. With Jaehyun though, we either have the "It's just fanservice" side because the guy is charming and princely and classically handsome or we got the "He's gay so he fakes all the straight and gentleman act" side. Y'all wanna be woke but you can't fathom the idea of a non-campy gay guy. It's either he's a straight (or that insulting "bisexual", which is code for "I don't want my oppa to be gay but I want to ship him with everyone and their moms and dads and fit in in Tumblr") and overly-camera conscious which somehow always translates into "flirt with guys" or he's gay but is hiding his "true gay self" because of familial/societal/company pressure.

 

Anyone who gives a flying shit about Jaehyun knows how much the first side is BS because if he is wild on camera, he's reckless off. (Throwback to when he was caught heart eyes at Gongmyung in that award show and then quickly composed himself as soon as he saw himself on screen). And Jaehyun has always been vocal about how his parents have always been supportive of his choices ( and newsflash: Idol life is not a honourable career in Korea, especially with upper middle class families) and the gayer you are, the more SM loves you, so miss me with that "putting on a masculine front to hid the rainbow" shit.

I've seen some post about the nct members and I want to ask, y'all are analyzing if taeyong, jaehyun pings or not or are you analyzing only when these two are together? Bc it seems like the latest. And why not analyze jaehyun and ten interactions bc these two uhmm are really a case or the interactions they have with others??

personally I think they ping separately just in themselves and then recently they have started to interact more openly again so we are looking at that too? I agree Jaehyun and Ten have had some sus interactions too - Ten isn't big on skinship but he doesn't seem to mind with Jaehyun.

I agree with this. A few times when he's been asked what was more important between friendship and love, he always chose friendship and he was really judgemental of Johnny in nct life in Chiangmai when Johnny chose love over friendship. He's never had many friends in his life, and I think right now, he's just at the point where he's appreciating the fact that he has friends now, so relationships might not be very prominent in his mind. But he has to think about sex ( and his preferences) to some extent to write the kind of lyrics he writes, especially considering how personal the lyrics seem to be.

 

 

That's actually a really interesting angle on Taeyong there. I've never really considered that before but now that you mention it it makes a lot of sense. I can't remember ever having detected real sexual tension from Taeyong's part to someone else. All of the tension in the Jaeyong ship seems to come from Jaehyun, really. If not asexual I sense that he (Taeyong) is most probably really guarded and cautious when it comes to sex?

 

I get the same vibes from Jaehyun, btw. Boy seems to just radiate sexual tension wherever he goes and whomever he's with. I think he's bi. 

 

Last time I brought it up here I got shouted down by people so I'm glad you agree - like yes he writes mature lyrics but his body language and basically every other aspect of him just doesn't fit in with that. Well, I actually caught him a couple of times staring at Jaehyun or Johnny's shoulders, or touching Jaehyun's pectorals lmao. 

 

Plus his lyrics seem to be heavily self centered, and why would he write twice about sex if he wasn't interested in it? 

 

I think his soft mannerism and him being really introverted may be a confounding factor, but he doesn't ping as asexual to me?

fair enough, I mean it's not like we're ever going to know for sure. I don't think him being impressed by bigger guys' physiques is indication of sexual attraction necessarily. I'm not saying he's a robot, but I just don't think he cares *that* much. He's awkward as hell in his own body and full of nervous clumsy mannerisms and given he's a dancer that's especially unusual. Maybe he's just really inexperienced and his lyrics are based in fantasy? That's likely anyway given how he apparently wasn't interested in girls at school, and ever since high school he's been locked away in SM training.

 

He's known as the guy who loves skinship but Winwin is the one raising eyebrows stroking Jae's leg, Taeyong's skinship is needy not suggestive. About 3 minutes into this ep Park Jaejung has hand written Mark a cheesy letter, and out of nowhere he says 'I like women!' Mark's reaction is so genuinely shocked... (not shocked that the other guy says he's straight but more at the subject being openly brought up at all)

As far as the asexuality debate I think it's relevant here because even should Hansol turn out to be heteromantic but asexual or any other combination tbh, he's clearly shown through his actions and words in the past that he doesn't shy away from gay culture and LGBT pride. He has outed himself as a sexual minority, in a very conservative country and it would be pretty rich for other sexual minorities to dismiss him because he's chosen to use a label they dislike. It's not a 'who has it worse' olympics either so let's just not. So this could be something interesting from the unreadable Mark Lee... Dream did a Weibo Live today which is yet to be translated. My knowledge of Korean is patchy as hell but I'm pretty sure that at about 11min20 he's looking at Chenle's photocard and mutters 'it's pretty/you're pretty'? and then he panics, or sort of looks a bit shocked anyway, and changes it (and the tone of his voice) to say 'it's cool'. Can anyone who speaks Korean tell me if I'm right? It got me to thinking about how he never ever compliments the members' looks - they're all telling each other they are handsome all the time but Mark almost never joins in. I just think he's hiding something, maybe, he's an enigma.

I can't really explain with Mark, I'm far from convinced of anything tbh. He's just interesting because he's different on camera to off and he seems to hide his real personality a lot. When you compare him to someone like Doyoung who actually really doesn't give a crap about his image sometimes (if he's grumpy you'll know it, but also similarly if he's feeling affectionate he won't hide it) the difference is just clear. As for the context, jaehyun was filming Law of the jungle in fiji last week, so taeyong had to replace him as a DJ for his radio show! The penality for the episode was dancing Hyuna's Bubble pop, taeyong actually got his answers right so he didn't have to dance, but as jaehyun left a message wishing for taeyong to lose, taeyong finally did the penality ..
