The BL industry in 2022 is not the same as it was 5 years ago, hell it's not even the same as it was 2 years ago. Would you not watch I Told Sunset About You which is a coming of age story about accepting yourself and falling n love in your coastal town because it's marketed as a BL, despite being directed by a gay man who put his heart and soul into the production. Would you not watch Not Me, a show about a group of anarchists who seek to take down the system and has its main characters literally fall in love under a pride flag shouting "marriage equality" bc it's under the title of "BL" (this is your sign to watch both these shows btw). I just find it quite reductionist ig to boil it down to that statement when that's not remotely true and hasn't been for many years.
