Keyes 2,129
x Ok but "male friend". Isn't it Korea where people think if they watch the first snow with their partner, they will stay together forever?
Keyes 2,129
Not an idol, but... Watch this! From 54:50 to 1:16:00!What do you think? Is he gay? Or is he obsessed with men because of the reason he told them?Also...Dear Koreans:Why do you think it's okay for someone who suspects their uncle to be gay to drag them to a tv show and try to force them to come out?How come you can talk about the topic for like 15-20 minutes but never once say the word "gay" out loud? Why are you so afraid to say it?Why is a "real man" the opposite of a gay man?

Keyes 2,129
I think you're right about this one. If this really is about the person's bisexuality this song is really brave. Could you list some songs that you would think are about gay love or crushes? I know a few that could be but sometimes because of the culture it's hard to tell like Orange Caramel's Catallena. I know about Kwill, Baby Soul,2ne1,Junsu but I'm not really sure about others. Are most of the songs vague or obvious enough to tell so you wouldn't get it confused. Also I didn't check it out but weren't people in here talking about BTS's song a few weeks ago Does Jokwon's animal count as one? Show me the gay Iron who's the top? http://mnhyxk.tumblr.com/post/96907427563/whos-the-top San-e complimenting Kim minjae twice https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=axyMdWPTDVU BlackNut I'm Beenzino Blacknut biting Mino's leg http://blacknut-fandom.tumblr.com/post/126117074543/fandom-we-need-to-talk-also-blackzino-minnut You weren't asking me but there are a few songs and music videos listed in the very first post of this thread. Also, there is this song, Sin by Planet Shiver. I've always thought that this song was about homosexuality, even though the music video features a male-female couple. I can be wrong because the lyrics are vague enough, but the fact that it's a song by Planet Shiver (who have a song called Rainbow that is about equality and even have a gay couple in its music video) and the lyrics were written by Tablo (who wrote a song like 'Amor Fati') suggests that I can be right.
Keyes 2,129
Some more vids on Koreans' views on homosexuality. I was honestly surprised that in one of the vids, that one homophobic girl said she sometimes has to hide she doesn't support homosexuality. I always imagined South Korea be like my country where pretty much 95% of the people are homophobic to some extent, so homophobes can freely say anything and not worry about anyone thinking they are a bad person because most people are homophobic anyway so they will probably agree with them. But I guess if she feels like she has to hide her phobia that means that there are more and more people who are accepting towards sexual minorities in Korea nowadays and that's a great thing! 12
Keyes 2,129
Going back to the topic the thing that really counts for the most me as sign of being gay in the k-pop case and in others is Jealousy, i feel like jealousy can tell so much about a person feeling for other. Intense stares whitout any reason, radomly they just start looking like gonna eat each other with the eyes. Also the consistency of the relationship like: if this only happens rarely or does it keeps happening for a long period of time. And also if these kind of things happen in moments were they don't need to happen. Because for example those seventeen kids all over each other on their fansigns or heechul and siwon kissing on stage with everybody seeing it, you know that's on purpose. But when you feel that is something that was natural and genuine it also says a lot to me. I guess that's how i view things. There are some people who tends to stare at others though. One example is EXO's Kai. Him looking at D.O. Him looking at Sehun Him looking at Chanyeol Him looking at Suho
Keyes 2,129
I really don't think any idol groups of either gender are bringing girlfriends/boyfriends into their dorms. A part of their value as idols is that some of their fans like to fantasize about them as available boyfriends/girlfriends, managers often live with them and wouldn't let it happen, the members themselves would not risk destroying their careers over it unless they're exceptionally stupid. Remember almost all groups have sasaeng fans who are watching their every move and keep track of all people coming in and out of their dorms. If you follow a group closely, you will see updates like "so-and-so's mother visited the dorm today" etc... If any boy group member is having sex with a girl, it's happening somewhere else. btw I'm also part of the minority who thinks Jin isn't straight (and not because of Ken). Yeah, but those sasaengs follow them everywhere, not just to their dorms. Even if they bring their girlfriends/boyfriends to a hotel, the sasaengs will know about it. That's why sasaengs get mad when an idol is caught dating. Because they pride themselves so much in keeping the idol's secrets and "protecting them".
Keyes 2,129
not sure if this is OT but, is there anyone who understands korean and can give me a rundown of what they're discussing in this video: according to google translate the title is differences between gay men and lesbians, and i'm really curious about koreans' perspective on this. Hong Seok-cheon is in it too. I don't understand what they said in the beginning and at the very end but in the middle HSC was saying how gay guys hate lesbian women going to gay bars and they're like "what are women doing here?!". And gay guys are not even allowed to enter lesbian bars. So the two are pretty separated because of this. Then Sam was saying how lots of straight women go to gay bars because they can have fun there without the guys hitting on them. And HSC said that many gay men don't like women coming in the bars because they are not out and they don't even want to come out ever and they are afraid that someone they know might come to a bar and then they will be outed.
Keyes 2,129
I've found a documentary on ex-gays in Korea. I post it here because some of you might be interested in it. But be warned: this is one hour of pure homophobic propaganda! This is quite recent too. I think it was filmed last year. EDIT: Oops, sorry for double posting. Keyes 2,129
ex gay? it's like: "i'm tired of being homo, i'm quitting, fuck y'all"? p.s. the vid is stupid itself. smh. Well, basically, yeah. They are people who used to identify as gay/bi but they no longer do. Some say they successfully eliminated their same-sex attraction completely, others say that they simply abstain from acting on their attraction. And yeah, it's stupid.

Keyes 2,129
^^^^ the Hong suk Chun Meeting kinda sealed the deal for me...how many male celebrities especially idols take pictures with him? Also maybe Sehun looks at Miranda Kerr like some gay guys look up to any other female celebrity? Idk but your analysis is defiantly interesting. A lot of idols took pictures with Hong Suk Chun. Even Siwon who openly opposes same-sex marriage. Edited August 30, 2016 by Keyes
Keyes 2,129
I was wathing the BTS MV and... Are any of you good with flowers? I'm only asking because they show him looking at these flowers at the very end of the MV and those look like lilies and lavenders to me, but I'm not sure. Lilies are symbols of lesbians/lesbian love, they have been used in Anda's Touch MV as well (which is gay af!). And the color lavender has been associated with the LGBT community for a long time as well, so if those are really lilies and lavenders, then I doubt it's a coincidence they chose those two flowers for the music video.
Keyes 2,129
I had another fight with my friend because I told her about the flowers in the MV being LGBT symbols and she was so frustrated she even searched about them on google and apparently they both mean death and shit like that so I'm confused asf because I really remember Lillies being a symbol for lesbians but I didn't find anything about it wtf I'm pretty sure the lilies being associated with lesbians thing comes from Japan. They call girls' love manga and anime yuri which means lily. That's probably from where Koreans borrowed the symbol. Not only they named their lastest lesbian-themed series Lily Fever in Korea, they made sure to include the flower in the one of the episodes as well: But of course flowers don't have the same meaning in every country so it's possible that in yours it has nothing to do with lesbians.

Keyes 2,129
That very first video clip should be a proof that he's gay not bi. LOL I mean what kind of bi man would rather watch a cartoon than be touched by his girlfriend? And not only get annoyed with her but even break up with her because of something like this??? No man who loves women would do that! Btw, he was featured in a teen magazine before his debut and that article said that he's lonely and he's looking for penpals but the part where it should explained what his ideal type is like it just said: "I have no interest in girls~~". Uh-huh. So he's a lonely teen boy but he's not interested in girls? Again, that totally doesn't sound something like a bi guy would say. 9
Keyes 2,129
the comments on this video are indeed outraged as well i wonder how big is this issue there currently Korean tv channels originally did report on the case but they said the human rights group is accusing the military of making a gay black list and the military denied it. The military said they only tried to find those 2 who uploaded their sextape on the Internet but not others. So they lied, basically. The audio recordings of investigations were released a day or two later but if I'm correct, they were never show in public media, so the general public doesn't really know nor care about this whole issue right now. LGBT right groups and individuals held protests and they tried to reach out to the military & politicans - but of course they didn't get any help from anyone. Not only were they not able to change anyting, according to a (Korean lesbian) girl's blog, the military now expanded their search for gay people from the army to the navy as well. Things are not looking good.

Keyes 2,129
i'm sorry i just re-read my *first* comment on this thread and there's nothing rude about what i said. i offered MY opinion and MY take like everyone else. it was YOU and the others that got triiiggered and spammed this thread with 100 same replies about how masculine =/ straight. So again, in response, i tried to educate you on how the cultural context plays a role here when i said Jimin wants to look masculine and dominant. I kindly corrected your westernized LGBTQ centric view. that in korea, those don't exist. that you can't project those concepts onto these boys. it just doesen't work. It was you and the others that derailed this thread and came at me like a bunch of butthurt lunatics. lol If you want to ask me about korea, message me. this thread is about the idols. What exactly do you mean by "westernized LGBTQ centric view"? I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm genuinely curious! (I did read the rest of the conversation but I got a little bit confused what all of you were talking about because of all the fighting. Sorry. ^^;;;) Also, as a Korean person, who do you think *is* gay in k-pop? ^^

Keyes 2,129
Here's a trailer for an upcoming movie that seems interesting. It's about an idol and an actor who meet in a play and they get so entrenched in their roles that the lines between reality and stage start to blur... I'm not exactly sure what the play is about but judging by the poster in the actors' dressing room (0:08), it looks like they act as lovers (?) in a play called ì–¸ì²´ì¸ (Unchain(?)). The film poster is so pretty. ^^
Keyes 2,129
Now that we are at the topic.... the poet and the boy is another upcoming korean lgbt movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOPTTDHXsA8 "A poet in his late 30s, who has spent all his life in Jeju Island, lives off his sturdy wife. Despite his wife's constant nagging about his inability as a breadwinner, all he does is thinking about and writing poetry. One day, the poet meets a teenage boy working at a donut shop and helplessly develops feelings he has never had before." I found the whole movie!! Part 1: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x64hafw Part 2 is in the related videos. No subtitles avaliable yet since it was just released a month ago.
