Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

Are you trying to imply I said he's homophobic? Not at all, I don't think he is. He's just the most ~no homo~ guy in the group, but I don't think the things he says/does make him a homophobic.

I think he's been acting this way lately because he knows most twt stans think he's a "pansexual" icon or whatever, but who knows.

I'm not trying to imply anything, I didn't even give my opinion on Suga, just posted a (relevant, imo) quote from an article..?

I wasn't talking to you in particular btw, but adding to the conversation as a whole (I didn't quote you or anyone else precisely because I didn't want to go against someone, or interrupt your conversation).

If we're talking about what I think, then I do believe that someone who goes "no-homo" and not just "I'm not gay but I'm an ally" wouldn't be that adamant in the Billboard interview. For me (and it seems you don't share this perception, which is fine), "no-homo" usually has some kind of negative connotations. Being "no-homo", imo, doesn't have to mean you're homophobic, but it means you want to avoid the subject, and the mere possibility of being associated with "gayness" altogether. The reasons can vary, maybe you (and that's a generic "you" obviously) are homophobic, maybe you are not but it's a subject that is too sensitive for you to talk about, maybe you're gay/bi/pan and want to avoid the question. Lots of possibilities. But none of them quite matches with his answer in the article where he, contrary to RM who is usually known to be outspoken on this kind of subject, is very adamant to defend gay (bi/pan) rights.

I'm pretty sure the way he navigates the subject has changed quite a lot throughout the years too, which is why I quoted a "recent-ish" article.

I also do believe that Suga isn't a big fan of fan service, as seen in that video where he pretends to cough to avoid the paper kissing game (or whatever this nonsense is called). And tbh, it wouldn't be that surprising for someone who isn't straight, and who is quite aware of socio-political issues (as he has shown several times), to get annoyed by this make-pretend that stops as soon as it becomes too real. This is not me asserting that he isn't straight, because I can't know for sure. Just that it would make sense (again, imo).

Jaejoong being in love obsessed with Hyde for the nth time:

(Full pictures under the spoiler)

That's a lot of money dedication.

I wonder if Hyde has seen Jaejoong's twitter cover picture since they now follow each other. The picture being Hyde's (naked) back, with the tattoos that inspired Jaejoong's back tattoos as well.

I almost feel the second hand embarrassment. Almost.  za5g21G.png

Why is this so funny omggg KOREAN HOMOSEXUALS hcjfnbjvkgkg

You know, I think it's because of Taemin and his homosexual agenda. You become friends with someone like him and then BAM all your band members are gay. Tragic.

I find it funny too, but it's also scary when you think of LGBT people living in Dagestan... unsure.png  How difficult it must be for them everyday.

On an entirely separate theme and not idol related, I found this article and thought people might be interested. Last year a Chinese-French same-sex film sneaked into China's cinemas. Its not that it was necessarily instantly successful, but that it got to the flicks at all. Check it out:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-china-blog-44000069

Oh I was waiting for it to be released for ages, and forgot. It makes me really happy, I thought it would never be released (it was made in 2014).

And it's not "not idol related" btw: one of the two guys is, wait for it: Han Geng/Hankyung (ex Super Junior), who is also kind of relevant here, if only because of Heechul.

Anyway, thanks for the information!!

Oh that's great. smile.png I know very little about Super Junior's extensive history and players, just what I see about Heechul, so I wouldn't be able to pick them out of a lineup, lol.

It does look an interesting film and it's pleasing that it got to cinemas in China. On the face of it, it's a step in the right direction, though it might be an anomaly.

Oh it's alright, Han Geng left SM a long time ago too, more or less at the same time as JYJ (and seeing Jaejoong and Han Geng hanging out recently was pretty amusing to me).

The thing is, lots of people thought Heechul was more emotionally invested than one would be with a friend. Some people thought it was reciprocated. Others didn't. He was depressed (like... clinically depressed imo) for months after Han Geng left. But then again, Heechul is a very loyal friend, so it could just be that as well.

A few years ago, Han Geng was actually one of the main arguments in saying that Heechul wasn't straight.

And it makes me really happy that Han Geng accepted to act in that movie. He's very successful in China, clearly doesn't need this movie to succeed, and it could even be an issue for his carreer considering China's stance on anything not straight. But he still did it.

Do you think that Seungri is gay, but decided to leak a scandal about having straight prostitutes so that when he went into the army no-one would guess? Like having a fake marriage.

Yes, obviously. Seems legit.  idontthinksobetchplz.png

1) Seungri doesn't have gay rumours as far as I know..?

2) Providing female sex workers to your male clients says absolutely nothing about your sexual orientation.

3) How would it even be worth it?

Now please, can you not?

Well statistically speaking, most of BTS is most likely straight.

SM almost debuted a group called Four Seasons composed of Jaejoong, Yunho, Heechul and Kangin...

I don't know about Kangin, but statistically, this group shouldn't even have existed if we follow this logic.

Hi everyone, this is kind of OT (but not really).

As some of you may know, today is Jonghyun's birthday. He has been mentionned on this thread quite a lot throughout the years, both as a strong supporter of LGBT* rights and as someone we thought may be part the community.

There is this organisation which helps LGBT* teenagers in South Korea. People have been donating since December 2017 to commemorate Jonghyun (some did with other charities as well). They have acknowledged the donations from Jonghyun's fans last year, so it has really helped them.

If you want to participate, and if you can of course, here is the link: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/rainbow-teen-safe-space/#menu

And here is an article dating back from 2013 about him posting on twitter about a poster written by a discriminated bisexual and trans* student: https://www.soompi.com/article/560803wpp/shinees-jonghyun-changes-twitter-profile-image-in-support-of-transgender-student

Take care everyone meowfaceplz.png

Ten and Winwin (NCT/WayV) have choreographed this beautiful dance themselves - not only choreo, but all of the design, styling, concept - everything!! It's part of the group's new Rainbow Project and is honestly art on every level.

It gives me Beautiful Liar vibes (Leo and Ravi, from Vixx). Like it's very gay. Very very beautiful. But it can all be explained with the two sides of a personality, life and death, yin and yang...etc, so it's still "safe" in case people start to question it too much.

The Beautiful Liar MV in spoiler because everyone should watch it every once in a while:

Thank you for posting it!!! It's really beautiful. They have so much control over their bodies, there is so much grace in their dance. I love it.

I still miss him so much. Nice catch. So sad though.

I do too. But it gets better with time. And seeing the other members and his family being so strong and resilient helped a lot. It still catches me of guard sometimes. December was hard this year too. Honestly, the charity thing also allows me to just "act", "do something", instead of the deep feeling of powerlessness I felt when it happened.

Have you heard his sister's tribute? She sang his song "Happy Birthday" to him with some lyrics changes.

Here it is:

Did the mods just integrate the Jokwon and Holland thread into this one, or is my phone glitching?!

Edit: Nope, it was my phone apparently. (Or OH, or my sleep deprived brain). Sorry!!  unsure.png

I'm pretty sure no threads were merged guys, we're just happy about this (because it is relevant to this thread too). Holland, an openly gay idol, and Jo Kwon, one of the most agreed upon idols in this thread, were together and even posted a picture on social media. Holland has said before (I think) that some idols have showed him support, but behind the scenes. Jo Kwon is openly showing Holland support, though. Some may argue that it's just a photo, but it's really a lot more than that.

I hope it doesn't seem like I'm overreacting, but this is pretty big tbh. This makes me so happy laugh.png laugh.png

Alright, so it WAS my phone glitching (or Onehallyu, who knows?). I had both tabs opened with the exact same content. Weird.

My bad. And my apologies.

(also YES for these two!!!)

It just makes me so sad, and so, so angry.

Also, just thinking that his plan was never telling his parents. I know it's like that for many people out there, but I just feel like crying when I read stories like this one. Living in secret in the army (where you are forced to go), and in your family as well? This is hearbreaking.

Edit: this is not even off topic actually... Since they all have to go (except the few foreign members and the very few who don't pass the medical exam). This is possibly an issue for all non-straight male idols.

For me the more insane historical K-pop fanservice has lead impressionable straight fans down the road that mystical same-sex beings exist in a bubblegum world of: constant school playground jealousies and flirting, being 'in heat' and dressing up as women to get attention from other men. The reality would probably shock a lot of fans who believe that's how gay lives play out, including their idols who have secret boyfriends.

For most gay male Koreans, it's gonna be like most straights: Roll tf out of bed, go to work, back home at the end of day, chores/TV, walk the dog, weekly food shop and a bit of D-Daeng! with the boyf a few times a week. Youtubers Jangho and Cheolsoo are a great template for how real Korean gay men live outside of the fantasy K-pop universe. A small flat, numerous cats, takeaway or home cooking and matching jackets. Hey ho, reality. It's just a shame a lot of fans don't see people like them.

K-pop, for all it's energy and fun, is still guilty of false representation. It's as if it's been scared to dig deeper but maybe that's a societal thing? So I appreciate several of the new crop of artists showing much more maturity than their predecessors. There's nothing wrong with affection and a bit of skinship here and there, it's very cute. We all want to see that band members like each other and get on. But it shouldn't be used as a gimmick to sell product by hoodwinking fans, and it has been.

And then you have Tony and Jaeduck.

Serious question: What will it take for you guys to be suspicious about Jimin and Jungkook's relationship, like Heechul and Gunhee, Tony and Jaeduck, Suho and Donghwan, Eunhyuk and Donghae? Is it just age? This is not about shipping, I really want to know because I think they are really dating relationship.

The same thing that it will take to be sure that Jongin is with anyone who is male. Let me explain: Jongin (EXO's Kai) is touchy with all his friends. Understandably, people ship him with Taemin, Kyungsoo, Sehun... The fact that he has suspiscious moment with all these people (and more I guess, I don't follow him enough to know everything) makes it hard to say "these two are together"  (Krystal and Jennie do not help either LMAO).

For BTS, it's similar I think. You can find suspiscious, convincing moments between almost all configurations of the group, and especially Jimin/Jungkook, Jimin/Taehyung and Taehyung/Jungkook. Therefore we can either start talking about polyamory, or we just don't assume.

Ezra Miller is openly queer btw and is known for being very gender nonconforming <3

OT (but still lgbt* related)

Ezra actually even identifies as non-binary as far as I know. He also said in an interview: "I don"t identify as a man. I don't identify as a woman", and is polyamorous.

Check Sons of an Illustrious Father!

Well, most male idols have been mentioned here, so you're probably right. A 50% ratio does seem a bit optimistic 😄

Joking aside, I understand that's not what you're saying. Care to develop your thoughts? Any example?

calm down susan, you look really triggered by me hinting at him being attracted to women. Where did i say he is straight??? i said he is bisexual, which mean he is attracted to both sex. That exactly what i said: some people here tend to believe only 2 sexuality exist, gay or straight...

Contrary to some people, i like to illustrate my opinion, if i say someone is bisexual, i would add an example of him showing attraction to both sex. You sound like a straight fujos, i remember where op made a voting about sexuality, you voted " straight female" then you unvoted some days later

1) Can we avoid that "you look really triggered" please? People with (c)PTSD experience REAL triggers, which are not tools for you to use to dismiss people you don't agree with on the internet. Thanks.

2) Also try using "gender" instead of "sex" in this context.

They’re talking about sexuality. As in bisexual. Bisexual meaning attraction to both sexes

I'm aware of that yes. I'm also aware of the fact that this type of language is inherently transphobic (but language evolves, always, so yay!). Of course, in the context of this thread, we'll probably all be dead before an openly trans idol succeeds in this industry, whether they be a man, a woman or a non-binary person (who do exist, regardless of "the two sexes"). (And even if we only consider the "sexes" with the biological meaning only, it doesn't work like that, hence the I in LGBTI but that's another subject entirely).

Also, depending on the POV (it varies in this thread), bisexual may refer to your sexuality, as in the person you are sexually attracted to, whereas biromantic refers to the person you're attracted to romantically. The separation isn't always made/needed of course, but it works well for instance for people on the ace spectrum who may be asexual but not aromantic or the other way around, or both...etc   (ace people who do exist as well, yay).

Aaaaaand... lots of bisexual people today (me included), consider that bisexuality is the attraction to more than one gender, instead of to BOTH/THE TWO genders. AND YES the etymology bothers me, but well, language evolves!

I’m sorry but you can’t just try to call a whole sexuality “transphobic” and then try to redefine it. Bisexuality is sexual attraction to both sexes. I don’t see the problem. I’m bisexual and you can’t redefine my sexuality, sorry. It’s in the name.

I'm not discussing the word "bisexual" as problematic. I, too, identify as bisexual. Bisexual is fine. I'm saying the word "sex" meaning "gender" is often transphobic in nature (and still used, by well meaning people, I'm aware the issue lies elsewhere). AND I'm saying that implying there are only two genders IS transphobic. Not all (trans) people are binary.
Saying there are only two sexes IS transphobic if by sexes you mean genders, as it does NOT include non-binary people. Saying you're attracted to BOTH genders is wrong. You may be attracted to TWO genders (man and woman would be the most common option I guess) and that's fine. But "BOTH" excludes any other option.
(and saying there are two sexes as in biological ones excludes intersex people as well, but that's not the point here).

Pansexuality. You are talking about... pansexuality.

Bisexual: Attracted to two genders

Pansexuality: Attracted to all genders

Bi: Two. Pan: All

:)

That's an ongoing debate everywhere, that's for sure. I, personally do not care which one people use for me. The definitions vary from one person to the other. I've considered myself pansexual for a long time for that exact reason, and I would have written the same thing as you. And then, I've read many sources that made me change my POV.
I get the etymology issue.
I also get the always evolving notions in the (militant) LGBTI community.
And I get the issues with the way some (many?) people differenciate the two.
We can talk about it by DM if you wish (or here as well, I'm just afraid we're going a bit OT).

bisexual= male or female (including trans male and trans female)

saying that bisexuality is more than 2 sex, is lowkey transphobic since it mean you doesn't consider trans male and trans female as real male or female.

There is various gender identity but there is only 2 sex

pansexuality= many various gender, not limited to gender

It's exist for a reason

stop making everything complicated

And no intersex isn't biological, people who have XXY or XX( without the sry gene) are gonna still have either male or female genitals.

NON-BINARY PEOPLE???? HELLO??? Heard of them??  You're contradicting yourself: "There are various gender identities but there are only 2 sexes"???
It could only mean sexes as genitals or chromosomes/hormones (and even then it would be wrong). And then it has absolutely nothing to do with sexual orientations.

Bisexuality is for more and more people, being attracted to AT LEAST TWO genders (or sexes, if you'd like, but with the meaning of "gender"), while it remains ONLY TWO for others (two of the several genders, not BOTH genders) Of course the distinction is not made between cis and trans men or cis and trans women. I'm talking non-binary people. As in people who are neither a man nor a woman

I'm not making things complicated. Things ARE complicated. That's why we need to learn about them.

And that's not how being intersex works but intersex people have their genitals discussed all the time, often without their consent, so I'll let you research that by yourself.
