Keyes 2,129 Posted September 26, 2014 Share Posted September 26, 2014 Since someone posted a photo of HSC with Zico, I think it's important to point out that just because an idol takes a photo with Hong Suk Chun or any LGBT person for that matter does not give them a "homophobe free" pass. Honestly, do you all really think that an idol would have the guts to turn down a senior's request to take a photo with them, even if they were a homophobe and the senior was gay? In South Korea, seniority, respect and manners are usually more important than one's own personal feelings about said senior. So of course they're going to take a photo with him if he asks (and I do believe it is HSC who asks them to take a photo in most cases and not the other way around considering his forward personality and also the fact that it's usually him who is holding the camera). Case in point, Junho has been known to make a couple of homophobic/ignorant remarks and here he is with HSC: I think it's safe to say Junho doesn't get a free "LGBT friendly" pass just because he let HSC take a photo with him. I just thought I would point this out since I often see people on this thread posting a photo of HSC and using it as "evidence" to claim that the idol in the photo is open minded or a supporter of LGBT rights. And I think this is a very unrealistic view that doesn't take into account social expectations in society, and more specifically social expectations in Korea. Idk what to think about Junho, really! >< In 2011, there was an article about how he refused to be friends with HSC. But in 2013, he mentioned on broadcast that they are close. This is why I don't like when some idol says something ignorant (e.g. Lay) and they get labeled a homophobe right away. Even if they are homophobic to some degree, it's possible that they will change in the future. But it seems like if you're labeled something in k-pop, that label sticks with you for ever. These subtitles make it seem like the MC was talking about the boys but in fact he said that after D.O. lets the girl go they (D.O. & the girl) will meet in secret behind Suho's back. After he appeared on the show, he got tousands of hate messages for being gay, and according to him most of the people were attacking him for being "an ugly gay". He gave an interview before and he said: "Just because someone is gay does not mean that they are always good-looking. I just want to be acknowledged as a confident gay singer. Because, while heterosexuality is just 1 In the non straight side there are maaaaaany more different sexual orientations... Like, really, a lot, since I'll be doing an essay about this all in some months I've already searched a bit about it and... So there could be many that aren't 100% straight but they just don't know what they actually are or what they actually feel so they decide to go the easy way and say they're straight... that happens a lot, I've seen it with my own eyes... And tbh I myself didn't even know about all of this either lol I knew bisexuality, heterosexuality, and homosexuality and just last year I learnt about pansexuality... And now all of this.... So yeah, I don't think I'm being delusional whenever I say my opinion about someone LOL @ autosexual.
