lol i can’t say i’m surprised about the clowns. actually, i posted it here because i was trying to wrap my head around how the person is suggesting jay park and taecyeon are lgbtq+

i had moments of stanning 2pm but the minute i stepped into it, i came across so much speculation and rumours about their behaviour towards each other, them being players etc.

for 2pm it’s hard to say as i haven’t followed for long, if anything, i’ve heard more about members being homophobic

i also know that some ppl are homophobic as a front for their sexuality so there’s that, but not sure if that could apply to 2pm

skinship is definitely more normalised in asia then it is elsewhere which is what prompted henry’s infamous comment about all of suju

Personally, my major issue is not so much with an idol group having a gay concept in and of itself since I do suppose it can theoretically be done right, but more so with its execution and my concerns for how the members actually feel about all this.

Even if somehow all these guys are gay, and I genuinely doubt that, are they really comfortable with being in a group where homosexuality is its major and arguably singular selling point? Especially when a good chunk of their stuff is rather sexualized, such as that infamous crotch grab which created a lot of buzz at that time, but didn't necessarily translate to these guys developing a bigger, stable fanbase. I know that I personally would find being in an idol group with a lesbian concept whose fanbase consisted primarily of straight men rather uncomfortable, especially if I had no input in it and it was all my agency telling me what I needed to do, not in spite of my sexual orientation, but precisely because of it I think. 

It'd be a different thing if the agency opened auditions and made it explicitly clear that the group they'll be debuting will have a gay concept, but I suspect that that's not the case at all and that the members heard about this only at some point during their trainee process. Do correct me if I'm wrong and you know more about their production process, maybe I'm just being a jaded skeptic when it comes to corporate overlords who employ young people desperate to succeed.  

In the end, I just can't help but feel that instead of having a gay concept, grabbing crotches, having a weird haircut and other such gimmicks, most idols in the industry would probably just rather be given a good song by their agency for starters ( sorry to the group's fans, but half of their songs are the most headache inducing music lol). 

I'd especially be interested in hearing what gay men posting here have to say about the group.

i think it’s validating especially because of the storylines in each solo album, which they are having the same romance as any het would do. it doesn’t seem any different to mvs where each member has scenes with a love interest

Is the selling point homosexuality, or is it storytelling/art? because onlyoneof have always been a group focused on artistic storytelling within their discography.

we can’t say they’re not heavily involved with their own music. many of the members have writing credits themselves, and they even did a produced by [me] project where they go through the process of producing their own songs

“a good chunk” is a stretch. the crotch grab was there for a reason because the song is called libido, and it’s part of an album called instinct part 1., which is about instincts.. and isn’t much different to the sexual themes of these mvs

When they were not doing those things actively, there was at least something else going on there, like an implication that 2 members had hooked up at some point in the MV for example IIRC.

I cannot say that other boy groups aren't doing some of those things often too, but that's not necessarily a good thing either. Also, I feel like most boy groups have a variety of concepts so even if the sexualization gets a bit too uncomfortable for my taste sometimes, at least it's not constant, whereas OnlyOneOf just has either horny homosexuality and slightly less horny homosexuality to work with, at which point it just seems like it's crossing into a weird territory lol. 

If I can compare them to some other groups (and be extremely controversial while doing so~), I'd say that they are like a male version of NMIXX and Stellar in one package. NMIXX for the """"experimental"""" music (Lily, I'll save you) and Stellar for having that one specific concept which already feels inherently restrictive in and of itself, but then also, and not to be a pearl clutching prude here, it's a concept that I think a lot of people would not necessarily be super comfortable with. 

As for which of their songs are bad, the lyrics to "gaslighting" are so hilariously bad, they had me laughing for 5 minutes straight. I wanna talk with whomever thought the word gaslighting had such supreme sexual energy to be used in this way.
