What the hell? I've been crying about it ever since I heard about this. God, he was such an inspiration to me and some others here.

I just want to remind those mourning that it's important to take care of yourself. I know in times like these taking care of yourself is probably the last thing on anyone's mind, but it's still important. Stay hydrated, eat something, take a shower. I will be honest, I have really been neglecting this as this is probably the worst day of my life (I've never had to grieve anyone before) and I've been crying on and off for 10 hours now, but I'm trying to change that now and do stuff for myself. Please take care of yourself!

Do you think we'll ever find out about his sexuality? I know someone in here said if he was indeed gay or bi, we would find out about it soon enough but I just can't be that optimistic. I feel like as it wasn't written in his final note, it won't ever come out. I don't know if Key or someone else will out him; I don't know if there was ever a conversation with Jjong and someone else with him saying "if I die before I come out, please out me". I've already told my friends that if something happens to me and I die, I want them to out me to my family because I don't want to remain closeted in death. I just feel like there are a lot of things we don't know. It's very sad as he was one of the idols most open about his sexuality and I really thought he would be one of the first to come out.

No news. I know he landed in Korea a while ago and went straight to the funeral hall. However, one of the Shawols I follow on Twitter said that apparently there is a very disturbing video of Key walking to the funeral hall, and he is in a "very bad state". But I have not seen the video anywhere, perhaps it is only available on Korean sites?

A quick point on his suicide note....we are seeing what they are showing. He could have written a scathing indictment of the Kpop industry as a whole, he could have mentioned relationships, anything and everything that might have been bothering him. There is a possibility that what was released was unedited, but I doubt that.

Exactly, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't only leave the world with that note. He probably wrote separate letters to the rest of Shinee, his family, Taeyeon etc. He could have said something in any of them. And frankly, because those letters would be incredibly personal, I feel like it would be a huge disrespect to him to post them. So like I said before, we'll never find out until Key does something (which I strongly doubt, and I don't think anyone else will say something either).

Wow, that letter made me cry like a baby. I haven't seen the video because I deactivated my Twitter and I haven't looked at anything on Youtube for the past three days, and frankly I don't want to see it (even though I know I'll probably go and watch it right after I post this). And I can't help but think that if his fans are in this much pain, then how much pain must his family and friends feel? It must be so horrible.

 

Also I know this is Not Good but my brain has somehow came up with this fucked up alternate reality where he attempted suicide rather than committed it and he's still alive. I just keep on thinking about him being alive.

I'm also feeling very, very angry towards that doctor. I definitely believe he was one of the main factors in Jonghyun's suicide, but I don't want to think about it too much because it causes me a lot of grief knowing that his death probably could have been prevented. It also makes me worry for other idols in the industry, as it makes sense that SM would have personally recommended that doctor to Jonghyun, so if other idols are going to the same doctor....

 

 

However I am feeling better than I was this morning and I even smiled when I saw the post about the aqua moon in Japan. I don't really care about the scientic reason behind it, I'm just thinking of it as a sign that he's safe

Welcome   Do you mind expanding on Hoshi and Winwin? I think you're the first person in here in here to say that Hoshi pings them, is it just general behaviour/mannerisms? And I'd like to hear why Winwin pings you because I have no idea what that guy is, I haven't really seen enough from him (perhaps due to language barrier?).

 

And I've also noticed how Taeyong always stands behind "bigger" people - it matches up quite nicely with what he said about having someone lead him, and how he wants to be the traditional idea of a homemaker

Most likely straight. There were rumours speculating he was bi, but they were built on absolutely no credibility. And I think in 2015 or so there were rumours going around he slept with American girls a lot, but I could be getting that mixed up. So yeah, most likely straight. I think he's pretty accepting though, as he's close with Cara Delevigne (and he's Canadian, so he's less likely to be homophobic than someone born and raised in SK).

Same as you. I'm very sure that Young K likes men, even though he's only done one thing. He called 2PM's Wooyoung when he was drunk at 2am and said "hyung I'm such an idiot, I'm always fucking waiting for you". Like...I wonder if anyone has a heterosexual explanation for that. Jae seems pretty chill and accepting but he's straight. Sungjin seems the most straight out of them all imo.

Namjoon or Yoongi. But I feel like the way they handle it would be kinda different. I feel like Yoongi wouldn't really care about public backlash and he would come out because he's sick of hiding, whereas Namjoon (if he ever comes out) would sort of want to be an ambassador for LGBT rights in Korea. That's just the vibe I get from them. I'm also split on Taehyung, I feel like it could go both ways.

 

Also this might be an unpopular opinion but I feel like Jimin won't come out for a long, long time. He's the most popular member in SK, teenage girls there love him. But I guess it really depends on how long he wants to stay in the industry (this goes for the other three as well).

 

I don't have an opinion on Jin, Hoseok, and Jungkook coming out (yet).

Don't know why people come in here to say a certain idol is straight. It's been happening ever since this thread was made, so it's not like we're all suddenly gonna retract our opinions on a certain idol being gay. And I think some of you need to remember that bisexuality exists lol.

Not to get all sad or anything, but has anyone else realised it's probably going to be a very long time before a "big" idol comes out? I think it's pretty much a given that at this point in time no idol will come out before military service. In the idol industry, military service usually starts at 30 and lasts two years. If we look at idols discussed here: G-Dragon is 29. Jo Kwon is 28. Key is 26. Suho is 26 but will be enlisting in 2020, before Xiumin (and I doubt he'll come out anyway). Jin, the oldest in BTS, is 25. Seungcheol, oldest in Seventeen, is 22. Et cetera et cetera. So it will be a few years before any of them come out.

 

Looking at idols who have already completed military service: Heechul, Yunho, Jaejoong, maybe Donghae and Eunhyuk from SJ (but I doubt it). It seems like Heechul wants to continue working on variety shows, so I feel he'll remain in a glass closet for a few more years and will only come out when there has been a shift of attitudes towards gay people. I don't follow Yunho and D&E, so I don't know if they have a lot of filial piety and how long they want to remain in the industry. I don't really follow Jaejoong either, but I feel like he might be one of the first to come out. But that will most likely be in a few years.

 

Idk, it's just kinda sad to think about all this. But cheers to another few years of speculating about idols' sexualities

Why will Suho enlist in 2019? Shouldn't it be after 2020? Will he go in Xiumin's place? Too many questions i'm so sorry.

Anyway, if Yunho ever comes out i'm buying yall in this thread drinks! I just cant see him doing it tbh, and i'm afraid he'll end up marrying a woman in the end. I think the idols most likely to come out, albeit in the distant future, are Heechul and Key and maybe Jaejoong.

 

Sorry, I got it wrong! Xiumin and Suho will both enlist in 2020, I think, but Suho will enlist before Xiumin because Xiumin is doing a PhD. I think in SK if you are doing some form of higher education e.g a Masters, you are exempt from enlistment until you finish it. But they'll probably only enlist a few months apart. I'll go edit it now

 

 

I can't multiquote because I'm on mobile, but thanks for all the responses I didn't know that Heechul was so carefree post-military, and I definitely didn't know that Jaejoong hasn't really been very open (which is sad to see). I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

 

Edit: @swimgood I just saw your post and I completely agree with you. I can never make up my mind on him because he's my ultimate bias and I just have a lot of thoughts about him. I constantly go back and forth between him not coming out and being in a relationship with a man, him not coming out and being married to a woman, and him coming out. It's kinda disheartening to think about because I think he is gay, not bi, and I don't really know the situation with him and Donghwan. I guess we'll see what he's like post-military.
