Hi everyone...

 

I, like a lot of other people, have been a long time lurker on this thread,

and I felt it was about time to make an account/add my thoughts to this discussion.

 

So, even though the original title says 'Which male idols do you think are gay?',

it's evolved to, Which male idols do you think aren't straight? xD. And I don't mind that.

 

Anyways, I wanted to talk about 2 groups I like/follow.

(Oh, and btw whenever I write bisexual, /pansexual/polysexual are also implied ^^.)

 

My opinions, and I know, "Ugh..they're talked about to death..."

I'd love to see more people giving "receipts" or gifs/videos of why they think whoever they think isn't straight,

isn't straight. I love seeing some of the gifs/videos people show xD. And I learn about/of new peeps too.

 

 

Anyways first is SHINee:

 

 

• Taemin--Bisexual or Gay. It's hard for me to pinpoint what I think his sexuality might be haha. But the reason I think he might be into guys is just an inkling/feeling and speculations from moments like when he and Minho did the paper game, or him and Jonghyun during Internet War. And I know they were fanservice too xD, no worries.

        

      

        

 

• Minho--I can't really pinpoint him either...to me, he's either bi-curious, bisexual or gay. I can't think of a video/gif where he's seemed into a girl really (someone please show me if I'm wrong), but plenty where he seemed kinda into dudes.

 

• Key--Gay. There is no doubt in my mind for Key xD. Some people might say it's based on stereotypes, but there was a great in-depth explanation on page 2, I think, of why someone might think he's gay. So I won't rehash the same things here. 

 

• Jonghyun--Bisexual or Gay. Things like the song he made called Playboy, where it seems to be about a guy talking about another guy, Internet War  with him and Taemin...and other moments make me think he's definitely into guys, at the least.

 

• Onew--No clear idea. But since he's never seemed at least into guys like the others from SHINee, I'll say straight, bi or maybe even asexual/demisexual. *shrugs* 

 

 

 

Second is EXO: (Cue some people sighing eternally  )

 

 

 

I'll try to make this short, 'cause it's 12 peeps to talk about xD.

 

• Sehun--Bisexual. I just get the feeling that he's definitely into guys, but that he's attracted to girls as well.

 

• Tao--Gay. He just seems definitely gay, imo. There's already been a lot of talk about him and Sehun too, so I once again, won't rehash here.

 

• Luhan--Gay. I remember first getting into Exo, and thinking he had a crush on Kai from some of the looks he'd give him xD. Then, I saw him and Xiumin interacting and was like 'bruhhhh'. He just really pings me as being gay. Haven't seen a gif or anything where he's seemed into girl, but can think of plenty times where he straight up gazes at a dude.

       

 

       

 

• Xiumin/Minseok--Bisexual. This is just a guess, 'cause one second, I may think he's straight, then the next, bi or gay. I definitely think there was something going on between him and Luhan.

        

        

        

• Chen/Jongdae--Pansexual. (Yea, I switched it up :p) He just seems like the type of dude who doesn't care who he likes, he just likes who he likes. I've seen gifs/videos where he seems into both guys and gals.

      

• Lay/Yixing--Bisexual. I know some people might bring that "Don't misunderstand, we're real men" comment (or mistranslation?), but really he's seemed definitely into girls, but also kinda into dudes. One moment that "pinged me" was when he smiled after accidentally kissing Sehun during that Pepero game.

        (I still don't know what was supposed to be happening for this move? xD)

   

•  Kris/Wu Yifan--Bisexual. I remember first getting into Exo and seeing his interactions with D.O., and this one gif where he checked him out, and I was thinking, "He is so into that dude" haha. That's my reason, really *shrugs*. Can't think of that many gifs/videos of him seeming attracted to peeps.

       

• Suho/Junmyeon--Bisexual. He has that one friend he's "suspiciously" close to, like they're boyfriends...Always seemed pretty close to Tao, Sehun and Kai, and those dudes seem into dudes...so he pinged me. But he also seems like he's attracted to girls as well *shrugs*.

 

• Chanyeol--Straight. He may know how to play the shipping game (ships himself with a member at a time basically...), but he seems like he's actually straight.

 

• Baekhyun--Bisexual. To me, he seemed to have a crush on Chanyeol. But that's not my only reason...I've seen gifs/videos of the dude checking out/looking hella thirsty for both males and females xD.

 

• D.O. /Kyungsoo--Gay. Absolutely no doubt in my mind too. He seems like a dude that's known for the longest that he's into guys. I have yet to see a gif/video of him seeming into a girl. (That one video where he mentioned liking someone during high school--he never specified their gender.) But I've seen plenty of times where he'd "squish" (Face gets all adorable) around people like: Jo Insung, Kris and Kai...xD.

• Kai/Jongin--Pansexual. No doubt in my mind that he's into guys. But he also seems like he's into girls, but then maybe he just likes who he likes xD.

• Nichkhun, Woo Young, Jay Park (dunno why, I just don't think he's straight.) and Jun. K from 2pm.
• Kevin from U-Kiss.

• Other idols that people tend to think are gay/bi/asexual etc, that I just don't really know much about~

In the end though, I don't actually know any of their sexualities. It's just my thoughts/speculations.

 

But there are definitely non-straight people in the entertainment industry.

 

There are definitely beards...((A female (usually, or can be male) used as a cover-up for a gay person.))

 

Definitely attractions/probably lots of hook-ups, flings, dates, dating etc...

although i do agree exo is pretty gay, i rly doubt 11/12 members are LGBT tbh. i mean it could be possible, and i respect your perspective, but isnt that a bit much?

 

Nah.. I knew someone would say that xD. I think others have said that before too.

Even when I was writing it, I was like wow, that's a lot of at least bi people in one group haha.

 

But I think since there are plenty of people that could swing both ways in the world, (even if they hide it or something)

shouldn't be much of a surprise in a group, much less one in the entertainment industry *shrugs*.

 

Saying the opposite, that 11 out of the 12 are straight or something--seems kinda suspect imo XD.

But if you think some are in fact straight, I'd love to hear who ^^.

 

Oh and since someone else mentioned statistics...I feel like sometimes people don't account for the people who are in the closet/don't realize their sexuality yet, who'll say "Yea, I'm as straight as a line" or something to that effect xD. Especially since it a) seems to be the "default" sexuality of the world, b) tons of people live in any-sexuality-besides-heterosexual-non-tolerating areas or societies...

 

And with big groups, I guess it'd have to happen eventually where a group breaks the uh...sexuality statistics?

Hi guys, I'm a russian guy, who interested in k-pop for 3 or 4 years. I apologize in advance for my english, i'm not a native speaker (as you may already know) and I can read in english and get it well, but I feel some difficulty in writing in English...Well, I made an account to share my thoughts with you. I don't want to talk that much about such obvious idols like Key, Jo Kwon, Tao, Kevin, Sungjong, Heechul, etc., you know. Most newcomers start to talk about them, but I don't see the point. All already know it.

Now I have no certain fandom to fan, I just love all those, who make a good fanservise. But I used to love Big Bang and EXO. Despite that Big Bang isn't the gayest group in k-pop, I mean, they don't do that much fanservice in contrast of the other groups, but I love them for really good music and almost don't look at them in that "gay" way. Although I believe in GTOP's chemistry/affair in the past.

What about EXO, I always adored Kyungsoo. I even have a photobook with photocards by "DO you remember?" fansite. And yeah, I know, that he has many fanboys and this is no longer a surprice for anybody.

Me and my friend run the page in our russian social network. 90% of content we take here, at this wonderful and lovely topic. Pictures, gifs. And sometimes I translate into russian some of your intresting comments, guys. I would like to say a little bit about the attitude of Russian k-pop fans to the gay subjects. In our community page there are no complaints, because it's literally called: "GAY K-pop", but if we'll look at the any other community, if you type that someone is gay (among the idols), some people will pounce on you and scream like: "He is not gay! They are not gays! It's just fancervice!" and the others will "joking" like: "Everyone is gay XD. Okay. We understand you" and you can even be banned. But everyone accustomed to the fact that male idols really look like gays with their makeup, hairstyle, behavior, habits and so on. Russian soul just can not simply ignore this, lol. It's impossible. BUT, anyways, they keep yelling for years, that Key isn't a gay, he is just... someone else, but not gay. They perceive this word like offending. And starting to present arguments like: "In predebut he was dating a trainee girl", "He said in interview, that he was dating a girl", etc. Facepalm.

And now a little bit about fanfics. Russians ADORE slash fanfics, especially NC-17 and NC-21, PWP, BDSM, kink, etc. Most popular fanfics of any fandom - slash. But they can be a bit homophobic in real life. Here is a paradox of idiocy in this world. Or better say country. Almost all of they ship two guys as a pairing, love when they kissing, hugging and fucking, but THEY ARE NOT GAY! NO WAY!

It has recently been a wave of dissatisfaction by the articles about Sungjong (from Infinite) suspected of being gay. Many protesting comments. "He is not gay! He is just like a baby...he is sensitive, stop offending our boy, bastards! You are driving him into depression!". OMG. Just omg.

Well, now I just will list gay idols (in my opinion):

GOT7: Mark (I love him so much and really think, that he's in love with Junior), Junior (love him too. Also, I think he hiding in the closet more, than anybody), Jackson (pansexual/crazysexual), BamBam (probably drag qeen in the future), Yugyeom. And Youngjae just in love with his puppy.

MBLAQ - Joon (something intresting. he's like GOT7's Jackson for me - open for all)

NU'EST - Ren, Minhyun, JR (gay or bi), and Aron (bi)

Super Junior - Siwon, Donghae (oh i wish he's gay, but idk actually), Heechul, Ryewook, Sungmin (i'm angry on him, I think he just hiding in the closet by that wedding), Leeteuk (it's just something! one of the most annoying idols for me...sorry. I think hes gay, but he provides so much "straight" stories, rumors and scandals, so I don't even know)

Bleh, I hate when some people do that too, acting like thinking someone is gay is an insult. It shouldn't be.

Also people acting like bisexuality doesn't exist, "They're either gay or straight!"

 

Oh and I agree, it's just kinda funny when some people act like a gay person has never dated the opposite sex before or something.

Or married them--or even had sex with the opposite sex. The difference is that a gay person wouldn't enjoy having sex with the opposite sex in the physical sense, right?

 

And those people that ship but wouldn't support them if they came out as non-straight...to me it's like racists

dating the race they hate or something. It really is ridiculous.

About the bearding talk earlier, I'll just reiterate what someone else said: Media play always happens...(i.e. I tend to take relationships that companies acknowledge and/or fully talk about, with a grain of salt.)

 

Since the topic's kinda on Luhan (xD)...to me, he's also always seemed insecure about his "manliness".

 

And with how often he'd say he's manly and such, he started pinging me more and more as being gay.

 

But...just 'cause he looks pretty sometimes doesn't mean he's not a man.

It doesn't automatically make him fabulous, especially with tons of gay males not being fabulous either.

 

I just wish he knew (if he doesn't) that it's perfectly okay/possible to be pretty and handsome at the same time.

And that a pretty guy doesn't automatically mean a gay one either. Guess it's ironic that I think he's gay anyways xD.

I always wondered why they never edited what Kai and Suho said haha. But it's nice when they don't--

For the Suho gif, Tao kinda looked worried to me, about how the idols would react to Suho saying that. And Baekhyun kinda looked nervous-impressed. Even if idols are accepting of people who aren't straight,

whether cause they themselves aren't or they're allies--it sucks how they gotta be hesitant about how they respond to certain things.

I had to rewind to see it, I was like 'what? Where?' at first. Honestly there are a lot of people who don 't look gay or fit into sterotypes so it's harder to read them. Same way some idols are assumed to be gay because they fit some sterotypes.

Since I ship TaoRis when I see something suspicious I think is my imagination.

 

Yoo...I had to rewind too xD. It looked like whispering, but Kris's hand on Tao's butt/waist made it

look intimate as hell xD.

They were cute as shit together .

(I still have many ships though xD.)

Looking at the gif sets and having seeing this episode, I don't get C. How is Kai projecting his feelings? Sehun looked...very interested in the nude pic. Even got closer. There's that WGM thing too. There's also that time on a radio show when Xiumin and Chen said that they would not pick Tao and Sehun as boyfriends if they were girls. It's like Kai and Exo suspects something about him, as most of us do.

 

Ok question. If Sehun is bi or gay, do you guys think he is out to his members and friends?

 

For c, I say that 'cause from the video he seemed pretty into the pics himself xD. And I remember it was either that same ep or an earlier one, where he was talking about singers like Chris Brown and Michael Jackson and how sexy they were and how they could make girls fall in love with them...(I immediately thought: ...and boys. And you, Kai xD. Just a feeling, ya know?)

 

Since Kai was legit hovering around it too, looking at it for a good few before Sehun even walked up to get a closer look xD...I saw it as projecting. He was probably having sudden dirty thoughts (Back to that Taemin gif xD) and when the mc pointed out Sehun looking interested--teased him a bit for some reason. I was still amazed he teased him like that on television, but there's Kim Jongin for ya. And still surprised they didn't edit it out xD. I feel like they made it pass that Kai looked into it though and that the MC called out Sehun, 'cause Kai said he's been a longtime Shinhwa fan.

Since Kai and Sehun are best friends, I think they know how the other is; e.g. like what type of persons, gender(s), sex(es) the other is into/not into.

And I'm 100% sure that the other members know as well xD. Some may have been outright with it and said yea I only like guys or only like girls, others may have inquired. *shrugs*

 

Like someone else said, they've lived with each other, trained with each other for so long, it'd be bound to come up somehow.

 

And with regards to stopping skinship or being uncomfortable--well that depends on the person, right?

Some might not interact as much 'cause they're against non-straight people...some might stop because they just don't like the person anymore...or stop 'cause they're not shipped together anymore etc. From what I've seen...the majority of EXO seem LGBT+ accepting though.

 

 

In conclusion, (TL;DR) I think Kai was into it, so was Sehun and that the other members know/can tell/have an inking of what type of person(s), gender(s), sex(es) each other are into or aren't into.

Stereotypes can be hurtful, but some have truth to them, right? So, it's not good to assume every pretty boy is gay, but what about when a male is flamboyant and fabulous and sparkling with rainbows? It's not like fabulous gay guys don't exist, so just because a lot of gay males aren't fabulous, doesn't mean the stereotype doesn't hold some truth.

It's what can pique a person's interest and make them wonder, hmm...what if that person is gay?

 

And you may see them check out the same sex, or even straight up admit it. That's when I think it becomes very obvious. And that's why I think people tend to easily suspect Kpop idols like: Key, Tao, Heechul, Ren, Sungjong etc as being gay. Other moments help too, of course.

 

Doesn't mean that they don't have masculinity either. I also don't like that stereotype that every gay guy has to act feminine to be gay. People can have both masculinity and femininity to them .

If he is out, it might or might not change things like skinship. Who knows. Nothing seems to have really changed as far as I see. Example I find Chanyeol to be somewhat ignorant (not homophobic) after he told Suho that he would be careful around him from now on, but he and Sehun still slept in the same bed, went on a trip to Japan together, do skinship, and hang out often. So maybe Sehun is not out if he is gay/bi or as you suggested, maybe they just don't care.

On Topic: For the sexy singers part. In my opinion, there's nothing really out of the ordinary...? There are plenty of male idols who have said this or that singer male singer is sexy or that his moves are ,etc. Especially when they idolize them. Even over here in the US I've seen men say as such, when they the type to think their masculinity is being threatened when saying things like that. To me it's kind of like how Exo members say that they think that Kai is sexy and they like his dancing.

In that gif, Chen went to see have a look too. I think he and Kai just stood up (though Chen bent a bit further to see), but Sehun walked all the way from his spot to see. Is Chen into it for staring at it as well, getting up and bending over to look at the pictures? Does that mean during the other times when Chen said something about Sehun, he was projecting something too? The other members as well, like that WGM thingy. Kai just looked surprised in that gif, he looks like a kid. I still don't see anything in this that indicates attraction or projection? Seems that they all were just picking at Sehun. Most of that segment was all of them being kind of like "wow, senpai did you do this? this was allowed? woah!".

Also being best friends doesn't mean you know every single thing about them, there are friends who are together for a long time who hide many secrets. I don't think Sehun is out to most of his friends and bandmates, more that they are suspicious of him. Like they "know", but they don't know. I think Tao might have been out though. If Sehun is out to any one of them, I think it would be Suho because of the fact he's kind of like an understanding parent and the fact that he went on trips with Tao and Sehun before. I feel Suho would be the one he trusts the most with that. Who knows the truth in the end tho.

 

As for most of Exo being LGBT friendly, could you give me some examples? I mean I hope they are but the only ones I've seen mentioned being such is Suho, Kyungsoo, and Luhan. Maybe Baehkyun too? Mostly because of things they say and they type of people they surround themselves with. None of the others seem to give an indication of anything else...except maybe Lay.

 

P.S. Although we had differing opinions I'm not saying your opinions are wrong. I like to challenge people with things like this, to see if they can provide any convincing things, especially when it comes to SNSD and EXO. I'm always looking for more proofs.  I think it's the detective/law/forensics shows that got me like this.

Ok so for your Off-topic: Why do I think 11/12 aren't straight? Just from lots of gifs and videos I've seen of them.

I've seen them check out the same sex, look intimate/aroused/seeming to crush on/in love with the same sex...((Not in the over-the-top fanservice way. (Though some idols seem to both enjoy doing fanservice .) I mean behind the scenes, when they seem to be more themselves (Though not saying I actually know them or anything))...The things they say, how they say it, body language...it all adds to up to why I think the majority aren't straight.

Though I could see how people might think Luhan, Xiumin, Kris and Lay are bi-curious at most. I can.

If it was like that...well...I guess that'd better fit the statistic that people wanna fit Exo in?

 

Why I think Chanyeol is straight...well...

he may do all that fanservice with anyone and everyone relevant at the time (And I used to believe in his fanservice o.o) but when even the members point out that he "moves on" to different people--it makes me suspicious of his relationships with them tbh. (Can still look cute though, for sure. Don't think this is me hating on his ships, anyone else reading this xD.) 

I've seen videos of him watching say girl groups and seeming pretty interested, whereas for guy groups, seems neutral. And I actually kinda believe he had like a crush on Dara . He just seems straight to me *shrugs*. But I could see him as bi too, ngl.
