Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

Sorry for sounding negative but no idol will ever come out. The only one that I could see coming out is Jo Kwon, but I can't imagine anyone else. The average idol is straight and probably homophobic lbr. The industry itself is very homophobic. Remember how other idols were avoiding Heechul because of his gay rumors? And how rookies were asking bluntly Vixx if they are gay? I've seen kfans tell their idols to stay away from Daewhi. The Produce pds banned "unnecessary skinship". That Bighit producer told Taehyung that his christmas song is not for 2 men to sing and he had to record it with Adora instead (and he was very sad about it). Lucas finds the idea of fanboys uncomfortable.

There is only a minority of gay/bi idols and they are probably mostly closeted to the point not even their bandmates/managers know about it. Most idols that do heavy skinship and a lot of fanservice are probably entirely straight. Doesn't really matter how much they ping to you. Even Sehun, who is a favorite here (and i agree that he has strong receipts), might be dating girls for all we know.

I wish the reality was different but we can only hope that things will change for the better.

I actually kind of agreed with OP at first. It's true that nctzens sometimes seem to only care about Ten being this "gay king" when there is so much more to talk about him. He's one of the most talented idols out there but videos about his "gay moments" have more views than his dancing compilations. And while i think it's fine to speculate about idols being LGBT in this thread or the thread about female idols because it's lowkey and there are very few chances that idols will find it, i think kpop fans should be more respectful of the idols' privacy on Instagram or Twitter for example.
But i can't brush off the disdain that suints from OP and the users in the comments. I'm not that familiar with this reddit so maybe i'm wrong but there are probably posts about some idols personalities or some friendships between bandmates. Isn't this also assuming something about someone's private life ? Why is it seen as the absolute evil to speculate on an idol's sexuality but okay to do so about other aspects of their private life ? A lot of people assumed that BTS' Jungkook was dating this tatooist just because of a hug and i didn't see this contempt towards the people making this assumption.
Idk, what do you think ?

They say this, but they'll be the first to speculate about who is an idol dating and believe any straight dating rumors (even when the evidence is laughable). Everything goes as long as it's not LGBT related.

Bighit wants to be woke, but not too woke because obviously they can't offend the homophobes. Bts will say ambiguous things about loving yourself but they will never show very strong support for LGBT and try to raise awareness for it. Remember how RM backtracked his stance in that Billboard interview? And only then Suga said "Everyone is equal".

I feel like dating being normalized will just increase the number of beards for gay idols. Gay dating will take YEARS to be normalized. If we reach a situation where most idols are dating publicly, I'm pretty sure none of them will be in a gay relationship. It might also become like Hollywood where half of the couples are PR.

I heard about the Sehun/Lia rumor and that is allegedly from weibo but weibo is full of made up stuff anyway and it's not like they provided any evidence. A lot of twitter sasaengs claim they know about Sehun's gf and her ig, but he has gay rumors too. To he honest I wouldn't be surprised if one day he will have a dating scandal, but I really doubt he is straight lol

So I don't get it... if someone does too much fanservice, he must be straight because someone gay would be afraid of being exposed and if someone doesn't like the idea of being shipped with a bandmate, he must be also straight because someone gay would be fine with it...?

Apparently that actor has also made racist and sexist comments in the past so the current situation is not surprising. His fans were always very aggressive and homophobic. And now other people have to suffer because of it.

What exactly does this mean? Have we really reached the point where we blame artists for the wrongdoings of their fans?

Xiao Zhan himself is perfectly supportive of the LGBT community. In 2011 he supported his gay friend coming out to him, he posted a song by a Danish (or Swedish, I can't remember) trans singer on Weibo, and him and the rest of the main cast of The Untamed have all read the Mo Dao Zu Shi novel and know that the two main male characters eventually end up together. In fact, during an interview, he was asked "If Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji [the two main characters] liked the same girl, then what would happen?" and he smirked at the camera and said something like "I think this is very unlikely to happen" - especially noteworthy that he even hinted at their relationship like this in an interview due to the issue of LGBT censorship in all forms of Chinese media.

Blame his fans all you want, but stating that he orchestrated the takedown of AO3 himself because he doesn't like being shipped with a man is just...blatantly false. I don't even stan Xiao Zhan, I'm just a casual fan of him as I love the drama, but accusing him of homophobia is a bit of a reach.

Many speculate his agency is trying to get rid of his gay image and rumors by encouraging his ruthless fans to report ao3. He has some straight dramas coming out so they are probably trying to market him for a more "mainstream" audience. His fans have caused a lot of ruckus in the past and the big fanbases actually have connections with his agency so it's not like they couldn't be stopped. They also seem to really hate his ship with his untamed co-star. This is happening on weibo, not twitter, so it's easier for big companies to manipulate the tags and content. Of course, we don't know how much freedom Xiao Zhan has with his agency and everything.

Oh yeah, if the government sets the tone that's it, green light to homophobia and we can forget about equal rights. I read that there's a growing LGBT movement in China though. But then you have Indonesia, where the government is proposing a bill to force LGBT people to undergo 'deprogramming'.

A scary prospect, given that Indonesia has some of the biggest fanbases for K-pop groups and for Asian entertainment on the planet.

Yeah, I checked out weibo and there actually many LGBT supporters! There are many people that have gay friends and are totally fine with it. Just like everywhere else, it's usually the older people that are homophobic.

Not kpop, but I think it could be related. Many japanese BL voice actors are homophobic, and they still do all the stuff that comes along with voicing BL... An idol could do a lot of skinship and seem ~open~ to LGBT but in reality be homophobic. Both groups are just playing a fantasy.

take this with a grain of salt, but i stumbled upon a korean sasaeng account which has been revealing information about members' sexualities through curiouscat answers... most of the information is probably false, but hopefully, the account still gets taken down soon ;—;

for bts, they've said 3 bisexual members, 1 gay member.

for nct 127, they've said 2 gay members (i'm not sure how many bisexual ones).

even if they are a real sasaeng, i'm not sure how they would know unless those members have been in fairly open gay relationships? but anyways... let me know if posting this was a bad idea. i thought about it for a while and decided to post it since i think it's somewhat interesting — but mainly completely terrifying — how perhaps sasaengs know about members' sexualities

I don't think a real sasaeng would ever reveal information through curiouscat answers. And it's already difficult enough to confirm an idol's sexuality. Sounds more like an i-fan pretending to be a korean sasaeng, there's many of them around.

I've never heard of any sasaengs that outed idols so maybe they know too it's better to not mess with that.

I know the popular theory is that idols are forced by the company to do fanservice but I think there's many of them that do it by because they enjoy the attention. Every group has some members that are chill with doing a lot of fanservice and some that rarely do it and it's obvious that it makes them uncomfortable.

Hi again!

I was one of the people who said that Jungkook showed 'no reaction to men'. It's probably not the best way to put it, and just to clarify I mean that I don't tend to see anything in the way he interacts with men (beyond the typical fanservice stuff and the fact that he is a very tactile person) that could point to attraction. Not saying that I've seen it with women, Jungkook's just hard to read for me and doesn't react in general. He does stare at people a lot, but I don't take this as a sign of attraction either. However, there are solid 'receipts' that point to him not being straight.

On a completely different note, I've been wondering about one thing. It might sound weird but hear me out. It's about K-antis. We know that there are antis for pretty much every popular idol, including ones that are likely not straight, and they constantly try to spread lies and misinformation about said idols in order to destroy their image. So, why do you think K-antis never suggest that an idol might be gay/bi, even if it's a lie? Besides Yuta's case (and I think that was a sasaeng, not your generic twitter anti) I don't think idols are targeted for their sexuality, not even Taehyung, who we pretty much all agree that is very likely not straight and has a good number of K-antis on twitter. These accounts show no values or empathy whatsoever, pick on the smallest or most trivial stuff (smoking, looking bored, wearing baggy clothes) and definitely don't have the 'my oppa can't be gay' mindset, so what's the reason? (Same with Jungkook actually, but there is not so much consensus on him not being straight).

I heard about some idols being targeted for their sexuality by k-antis. Anyone who acts more flamboyant. Usually it's only a very small minority of idols though because they go only after stereotypes.

As nice as this is, I don't think they would know what non-binary means and they were probably more confused about the whole situation. Maybe OP should have directly said LGBT instead. Does anyone has any opinions on the members?

Yep. The fandom is quite sure Soobin only sees Hueningkai as a baby/brother(so no one dares to say otherwise), but I think things have changed now.

I don't know if he acts different now but from what I remember Soobin always treated Hueningkai like he's a little brother he's very very fond of? It felt to me like he was infantilizing him in comparison with Taehyun but it might be the kpop maknae gimmick.

Yeonbin is kinda.. classic fanservice ship from what I noticed haha.

Regarding rumors, while it's true that most of them are fake, you have to take in consideration that the fans are also biased and will quickly debunk anything that could affect their idols.

Ermm I don't know what to say about Bang PD, but his date could also be a beard (it would explain why it suddenly made news everywhere). Or he is in fact straight/bisexual and she's just his sugar baby 😅

I'm not a even a fan but even i can see tha jimin is big gay 🤡 how can anyone think he is straight is beyond me. For me him and yoongi pings the most

Also wasnt there that video of V ogling a womens back side??

People think Jimin is straight because he has shown attraction towards women multiple times and his behaviour with bandmates is mostly fanservice. I don't know if he is straight or bisexual but I think he definetly likes women.
