Which male idols do you think are gay?

I'm late to the discussion but I wanted to give my thoughts on Myungjong being just fan service.

 

For one thing, I really don't think Woollim would ever have given Myungsoo the directive to start acting gay.

They have always wanted him to be the cool, unattainable guy. The problem is that he is just not able to maintain that character for very long.

I think that his real personality is problematic for them which is why they would prefer him to just stand there and look handsome (kind of like SM wanted Jaejoong to do).

 

After the Myungyeol ship started getting popular, I think they were ok with promoting that because it is a safe ship in that while Myungsoo may or may not be attracted to Sungyeol, Sungyeol is definitely not attracted to Myungsool. They are cute and sweet together which makes fan girls happy but there is no sexual tension.

 

The Chaser era is when Myungjong really started getting obvious. The timing of it is what makes it seem weird because this is also the time when Woollim started trying to give Sungjong an image makeover. Why would they start trying to make Sungjong more masculine only to have Myungsoo publicly showing sexual interest in him?

 

I think that Myungjong have had a mutual attraction for a long time. During the Be Mine promotions there was some really obvious flirting going on.

The moment between 1:45 and 2:17 particularly stands out to me as outright flirting. If you saw a guy and girl interacting like that you would definitely think they were interested in each other. Also, I will forever wonder what Sungjong said to him to earn that smack on the mouth.

 

I don't think they got together at this time though. On Beatles Code (the episode where Myungsoo almost got outed) Myungsoo mentioned someone that he almost got together with but they decided not to date (actually his exact words where that there was someone he almost went all the way with LOL).

Either Sungjong wasn't ready or they decided not to date for the sake of the group.

 

However, I think there was a definite change in their relationship last year. If you watch Ranking King, Myungsoo actually looks like he is courting Sungjong at times. At the beginning of the show, I don't think they were a couple but by the last couple of episodes they really looked like they were together.

 

Myungsoo is the biggest Myungjong shipper. I think that all of his obvious fan service is a cover up for the fact that he just can't control his hormones.

He knows he is going to get caught so he kind of hides in plain sight. Then to keep from being too obvious, he will whore around with the other members (particularly Sungyeol) and everybody thinks that he must just be an affectionate guy but there is no sexual tension between him and anybody but Sungjong.

 

 

 

 

A moment that was definitely not fan service. Sungjong's reaction at the end when he realizes they are being filmed is very telling.

I don't have anything to say about Lay personally because I don't follow Exo but I really hate when people say these kinds of things.

 

Not only are they implying that gay men can't be masculine but they are also implying that if a man isn't the traditional definition of masculine then he is not a man.

 

Why don't people understand that gender is biology not behavior and there is no wrong or right way to be a gender.

My take on Jackson is that he likes being provocative and seems to enjoy flirting just for the fun of it.

Apparently he gets shy and literally runs away from someone that he is genuinely attracted to though (unless that whole scene with him and Song Ga Yeon on roommate was scripted).

 

 

Speaking of flirting does anyone else sense some mutual attraction and a little bit of flirting between Minhyuk and Sungjong here? Especially during the part where Sungjong was doing sit ups.

Put it this way, I think Sungjong is very good at playing certain things up for broadcast purposes and he's also no stranger to being flirted with by various male celebrities on camera. That's not to say I'm ruling out any attraction between them (because I'm definitely not by any means), but having watched him MC with Ryeowook too I don't think there was a massive difference tbh:

Sungjong seemed flattered more than anything else to me and yeah I'm sure he gets hit on by guys a lot both on and off camera.

Hi everyone!!

 

I've been lurking this thread for a week or two now trying to catch up and I looove reading your guys' theories (and I can safely say that I've been converted into a Taohun believer, sorry not sorry)    

 

I pretty much agree with the most commonly suspected idols (Tao, Sehun, Jaejoong, Yunho, Jokwon, Sungjong, Heechul, Kevin, etc.). Jonghyun, Baekhyun, sooometimes Luhan, and Soohyun have also pinged slightly. But idk, I'm just coming back from a 2-year kpop hiatus and I have so much to catch up on .__.

 

Who I'm REALLY interested in is Myungsoo, because he's really toying with my mind. I've seen a lot of people here suspecting him to be gay or bi, and the K-fan who said gay Koreans basically know that he's gay really intrigued me. Someone even described him as an "open secret" in Korea if I recall correctly. And there was that whole Doyeon scandal that seemed pretty obviously and terribly staged (I'm totally behind the theory that it was to extinguish gay rumors tbh, especially with him turning down WGM multiple times). For some reason though, I just... can't say completely that he's gay? I know bisexuality isn't as common in men, but it's not like it's a unicorn or anything. I just think back to that video where he's drawing his ideal type and fanboying about some character Inoue Mao portrayed in a movie (he also drew a guy though so idk). He seemed very honest there.

What I've often seen mentioned is his lack of interest in women. This isn't conclusive evidence imo -- I'm a straight girl but I'm pretty darn awkward around guys I like to the point of avoiding eye contact and interaction, and I'm very comfortable with girls. Everyone is different -- I mean look at Sungjong, he talks to girls at the same level of effort as breathing and we're all pretty certain he's gay. I have seen evidence of Myungsoo looking super bored and uninterested in some women (like that awkward half-hug gif and that video where they dance with Rainbow), but who's to say he isn't uninterested around the right girl? There's probably so much that goes on behind the scenes that we'll never see. I've seen some fancams of him staring at girls too -- not that this concludes anything, but at least he notices them. Maybe I just need more evidence? I'll admit, I'm a relatively new Inspirit.

 

One thing that really made me stop and consider that he might be bi/gay is his thing with DBSK. Some source said that he was an official member of Cassiopeia, he's a Jaejoong fanboy, and the reason he even took up photography in the first place was to open a Jaejoong fansite. If this is true, then this is a pretty obvious hint. I mean seriously, a straight guy dedicating himself to taking photos of and running a website for a hot male celebrity? I don't buy it   But I have to admit I'm a bit wary of the source...

 

Myungjong has definitely given me pause. There are two fancams

 and

 that just made me feel totally uncomfortable lol, my heart started racing. I swear to god the way Myungsoo stares at him sometimes, like tone it down man   And the way Sungjong snaps into hyper-awareness mode scanning for cameras... what other explanation is there for that honestly? I don't think mere friends would be so cautious about getting caught, considering they know all about fanservice. Very suspicious. The thing that holds me back though is that in other backstage fancams they just don't seem to care about one another at all... though I've heard they frequently go out together, so idk.

 

 

 

So I'm just wondering what is it that makes people think Myungsoo is gay? Are there some videos/interviews/something of Myungsoo that really ping? I see claims about him being 100% gay but I feel like I need something more. I'm leaning on bi.

 

 

 

 

My opinion on Myungsoo is that he is gay. He is just really obviously attracted to men.

He can't hide it and doesn't  even try that hard to. There is a really sexual vibe that he gives off sometimes when he is touching or being touched by other guys beyond any of his ships or fan service moments.

 

He could be bi but if he is attracted at all to girls then he hides it really well because I have never once seen him look like he could be sexually interested in a woman. He has fanboyed over a few of them like Inoue Mao but in a very innocent way.

 

When straight guys are shy and awkward around girls they are especially shy around girls that they are attracted to. When Myungsoo gets especially awkward with girls it is usually because they are being obviously attracted to him. It is like he doesn't know what to do and just wishes that they would stop.

 

Here is an example where he notices that Naeun is staring at him and gets really awkward. Then he moves away from her and even opens his umbrella up to block her view.

I know It's a bit OT, But how many of you (gay guys or girls) are still in the closet? Or maybe partially in the closet?

 

 

I'm out to everyone though I don't really advertise it at work.

 

I had it easy because I have a gay uncle and an open minded family.

My mother was actually the one that first brought it up when she told me that when I was growing up she had always had the impression that I was a lesbian. I surprised her when I told her that I was actually bisexual.

I know that South Korean parents (or just about any parents) wouldn't usually think that their children are part of the lgbt but do you think that any of the idol's parents know or maybe suspect their child of being gay because of the rumors and what people are saying. This might seem a little off topic but I'm just curious to know what others think because we always talk about how the fans feel and not the parents.

 

Also, I was listening to anon said and on episode 14 they discussed BTS (I don't really know them) and the ship Vhope (from 28:45-29:30). One of the speakers that met them said that it was just really good fan service because they know how to play the game and I'm wondering how the Vhope shippers feel about this. Do you guys think its real or do you just like it because its fan service.

This is purely speculation but I think that even if Sungjong is not completely out to his parents that they are at least supportive of him.

When he first debuted he was so young but he already had so much self confidence and seemed so comfortable with himself. I don't think he could have been like that without having grown up in a loving supportive atmosphere.

 

Also, they encouraged him to go into the entertainment industry and let him leave home at very young age to pursue it. 

Looking at his pre-debut photos and videos you can tell he was always on the feminine side. I think they knew that they had a little diva on their hands and knew that he would have more chance for acceptance in the entertainment field.

I don't know much about rap monster but to those wondering how he could have been exposed to homosexuality (why does that make being homosexual sound like a virus?). No matter how conservative the country, all entertainment industries are full of gay people.

 

Even if he doesn't have any close personal friends that are gay, I'm sure there are stylist, etc. around that are.

Also, you don't have to know anybody that is gay to realize that gay people are actually human too.

They are sticking Sungjong on Real Men and I am not happy.

He doesn't need to prove anything.

He already has back problems, what if he gets hurt?

They might make fun of him for being weak and not "manly" enough.

I'm worried for him.

I saw that and my instant reaction was a deep sense of worry too... We already know he's a real man, he doesn't need to put himself in danger to prove it 

 

I'm happy for him having an individual schedule and I hope it brings him more popularity but I'm just worried.

He is rumored to have scoliosis and he could make his back worse.

I'm also afraid that it could backfire on him and he could get looked down on more.

Hoping for the best and that he does well but I am concerned.

I really wish that he could just be himself and not feel like he has to prove anything to anybody.

 

 

Also, now I am going to have to watch this damn show even though I have no interest in it.

I almost would rather they put him on We Got Married.

At least he would be cute and charming on that.
