Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

Long time lurker, first time poster, please take care of me chuplz.png

Also want to remind you how Taehyung's kakaotalk profile pic is (was?) Hari Nef who is transgender model.

How many straight guys like this exist in this world?

Which kakao profile pic is that? I tried to find it with no luck.

Don't forget the legendary broadcast when Taehyung openly cheered for and happily club danced with those male high heel wearing dancers on Star King 150516: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2qg74q

Taehyung is not straight, that's obvious, but I personally still believe he's bi, since I've seen him show interest in women. He's like Baekhyun, imo.

I really, truly believe Taehyung is gay. I always felt like his questionable interactions with women were more along the lines of "I shouldn't do this cause I'll get in trouble" as opposed to actual attraction (Star King 160112 and AHL). I'm curious about the instances where you see him showing attraction to women.

So, I like to think that I’m pretty discerning with my “evidence†and I hate to assume with a lack of evidence, so I hope the abundance of “I don’t knowâ€s is acceptable. So, since one person asked for it:

Here’s some of my thoughts on BTS:

Seokjin: Don’t know. He seems to treat everyone alike and I can’t think of any 1st degree examples of romantic or sexual attraction for him with anyone. He doesn’t seem to be affected in any way by his flirting with women and the only flirting I’ve seen him affected by is Namjoon’s, though this could purely be because he finds it funny/cute coming from him. The only instance I can point to is the time he answered “I'm not gay haha" @https://twitter.com/runchranda/status/414251063521181696 when a fan asked him about his relationship with Hyosang. Jin tends to jump to unexpected conclusions and give outrageous answers during fansigns (like he would want to be called “Charmander†by a future S.O. and gives the names of food dishes as words of encouragement/strength) so I think this was also a case of jumping to an unexpected conclusion. I don’t know what this says about his sexuality, but I feel like the fact that he would bring it up unprompted means he is probably relatively secure with it, whatever it is.

Yoongi: Either bi or gay and taking the safer route in expressing it with his gender neutral “ideal type†answers and tendency to bring up the “Gay Option†when available. I feel like there is some physical attraction to Jimin, but I don’t think it has been acted upon. I feel like Hoseok is the kind of person he would want to date given different circumstances (so we see something that looks like a crush treated as a joke between them) and has also not been acted upon. I identify most with Yoongi especially since I also suffer from social anxiety and have clearly seen some of its’ hallmarks in his behavior before he revealed it explicitly in his mixtape. I would be open to elaborating on this (as well as everything else).

Hoseok: He is a mystery and that’s why I bias him. He has a strong on-camera persona and we have heard on multiple occasions that there is another side to him that he keeps hidden underneath that. He seems like the most openly conscious of his public image yet he is a bad actor and you can sometimes tell when he is trying to stifle a reaction. I only have 2nd degree evidence of his attraction to women (Tinashe as his phone and computer wallpapers and Shim Euddeum on Star King), but nothing 1st degree. Although waacking (a dance style that he has shown familiarity with) has strong roots with vogueing, which itself has strong roots with gay POC culture in the US, I don’t know about that connection in Korea, so that’s weak evidence. I do believe that he has some attraction to men and there was a certain amount of reciprocation with the vhope crush, but I would still consider that headcanon at this point. (Full disclosure, I am a vhope trash, but I like to think that I keep a level of integrity in discerning what their "moments" mean, so I have a lot of thoughts on this as well).

Namjoon: He is the only member I have definitive proof of showing sexual interest in women (AHL MV filming), yet he is also the only one who has openly shown support for the LGBTQ community. He has lyric writing credits on Big Hit’s Glam’s song "XXO" (which is super gay) (and this relates to my “Big Hit’s Gay AgendaTMâ€). I feel like his bisexuality (or at the very least, bi-curiosity) has something to do with his feelings of self acceptance. (Not to downplay clinical depression at all, I fully put forth that his depression could be a purely biological phenomenon or related to completely unrelated things, I just mean that his occasional words on self-acceptance could be related to this.)

Jimin: I agree with a lot of people who mention that his reaction to attention from others is much more noticeable than the attention he gives to others. This is difficult because I can only really recall him interacting with men or with his fans (which he will obviously lavishes with fanservice) other than that one time on Star King, though it’s hard to tell anything through his acting and embarrassment over his acting what his true feelings were there. His reaction to and mention of himself or other members “liking men†makes me think he is at least open to it, but that is a headcanon as of now.

Taehyung: The only one I feel sure of. I really think he’s gay. With Stigma and his interactions with Hoseok, his Hwarang hyungs, the high-heeled dancers on Star King, Heechul, etc, I think he’s gay and starting to overcome his traditional, country boy upbringing and embrace it. He certainly has a squishy/soft mode that I’ve only seen him go into with the aforementioned men (complete with his traditionally “unattractive†boxy smile), which I can elaborate on if anyone wants.

Jungkook: There are really only two major things I base my JK prediction on. On AHL, I do believe that his flustered state was, in part, affected by some attraction to the women he was talking to (although he was only 16, so anyone who has ever been a 16 y.o. boy can let me know how legit the “turned on by anything†myth is). Also, and more importantly, I think his avoidance of affection towards other guys was too excessive. Take his comment in Hoseok’s bday video (“Ahh~ I’m saying this [i love you] to a guyâ€), etc. may seem normal in an American perspective, but seems like it would be overly defensive in a Korean perspective? (please correct me if I’m wrong here). This is why I think JK may have some attraction to men and is becoming more comfortable with it as he gets older. This would explain why Jimin (and the others) found it amusing to tease him over this by showing him excessive amounts of affection in their earlier days.

So, like a lot of other people on this thread, a lot of the BTS members “ping†me and I have something of a master thesis on my theory of Bang PD/Big Hit’s Gay AgendaTM that I think might explain it. I will surely share it here if it ever gets written up (if there’s any interest).

I tend to stan very few things, but I stan those few things very hard. I’m so obsessed with human behavior and social justice and pretty boys, how am I an adult with a job to go to in the morning? Why do I have so much more to say about every member? Who allowed this? Please send help

Thanks for your analysis. You raised some very interesting points, and I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on Bang PD, since he is obviously a heavy influence on the boys and the content of their music.

Ok, so I don't have any primary evidence gathered right now but this is the only time I can post for a few days so please, anyone challenge me wherever you see fit:

I don't think I need to challenge anyone on the fact that Bang PD is pretty gay (but please tell me if you disagree). After he broke off from JYP and created BigHit, the first group they debuted was GLAM. If you have not heard their debut song "XXO" please do, it is gay af and that is not exaggeration, it is explicitly and unarguably about same sex attraction. Rap Monster has writing credits on this song and he is hailed as the "inspiration of BTS." He was the only one left of the male trainees chosen to debut and the group was formed around him. He has a high IQ and ranking in the Korean school system as well as a noted interest in social issues. We know that BTS has a "mission" of addressing societal issues and inequality. My belief is that BTS was formed with the idea of queer discrimination, as well as other youth-related issues at the forefront.

My reasons supporting this include the obvious message of general social change and the occasional, subtle support of the LGBTQ community, but I feel like they are gearing up for something more daring recently. They have been putting an emphasis on songs of "healing" and emphasizing the sentiment that BTS and their fans stand together as one. In their latest album, You Never Walk Alone especially, there is a theme of gearing up to fight back against society and fear. The fear part intrigues me the most. It appears as a major theme in 3 of the 4 new songs on YNWA and seriously suggests that this fight against society is something that can be scary and dangerous (so, more serious than speaking against the education system). By writing and promoting a "fight song" with Not Today and a song of comfort with SS: YNWA, I think they are preparing their fans to take their side in a move that may prove to be career-inhibitingly controversial. But only time will tell here, it likely won't happen until next year, when the tour is well over.

Also, I think that their one era of very seriously gendered and sexist music was right after N.O. was somewhat a flop compared to their previous singles and they were desperate for mainstream recognition. The only recent song of theirs with any gendering is a girl-power song and I feel like this is their preferred style.

Caveats to this theory: Mostly issues with recruiting. How could they convince artists to sign up for a group with a queer mission without blacklisting themselves? I'm not totally sure since I don't know anything about the music industry. The only thoughts I can offer here is that the youngest members all have alternate reasons why they joined BigHit and the others don't: JK admired RM's rapping and joined because of him, Taehyung accompanied a friend to the audition and was encouraged to audition as well by the staff there, Jimin had no other offers. I do believe that JK would have had something of a fix on his sexuality by the time he was recruited, but the question is whether or not he would join this group knowing their mission at such a young age.

As anecdotal evidence, my brother has an extremely similar personality to JK so I think it's very possible that he would agree to support a queer message years before he would accept it within himself (as I've seen other people here mention with regards to RM).

So, so sorry for the double post, but I have a job that keeps me busy for a few days at a time. Please forgive me. ohdearplz.png

since we're reviving old bts discussions, has anyone ever unearthed the clip of j-hope accidentally saying "i want a boyfriend" during a backstage m!countdown video? the link that was posted here has been broken for a while, and i remember some people trying to find another clip of it but i haven't been able to find it myself (despite many, many hours spent in search)

Omfg, I spent hours looking for this too, crosschecking a masterlist of their broadcasts with this one vk account that has like literally every bts video in existence. I narrowed it down to 5, but upon another inspection, this one is the prime suspect:

https://vk.com/video-43682523_168197503(it gives me an error in the web browser, but it works is if you download it with something like getvideo).

At 4:26 J-Hope says something that is depicted in the graphics but is obscured by RM's voice and too blurry to search in google translate so if anyone knows enough Korean or Japanese to decipher, please let me know. If I can find this clip it could be the nail in the coffin regarding JH's sexuality. More info (confirmation on the music show, exact era, other members present, anything) would be so appreciated. I will dedicate so much time to finding this clip omg

They dont even show that extra homoerotic fanservice that many other group show. So to me that looks quite farfetched.

In my eyes, that's more of a point for their LGBT slant than against, especially considering their "social justice" message/image. As an example, I believe that Suga sabotaged their paper passing game because he found it demeaning (that the entertainment industry will shovel out homo-eroticism for views but would blacklist an actually homosexual artist in a second).

https://66.media.tumblr.com/d9214e48016c5acef8a9ae74b702908f/tumblr_o7oxl3vJFG1v8509so1_400.gif

I would rather pick Starship as a company that seems to be trying to normalise LGBT content. they had many music videos with far more explicit, and obvious LGBT+ content, K.will, Sistars, and MonstaX videos all are more direct than the BTS ones.

It's not a zero-sum game; more than one company can be pushing for this and I hope that multiple are actively pushing for the normalization of love and sex in all it's forms. I'm just talking about the one I know the most about.

And just for my personal opinion, it is kinda offensive to say an LGBT+ person was chosen because of their sexuality and not because their abilities for a job. I definietly would bitchslap anyone who would say I got my job to better my workplace diversity statistics, instead of you know being smart and being able to do it.

I think it's more offensive to suggest that they couldn't have been recruited for BOTH their sexuality/sexual politics AND their skill/ability. Trust me, as a black, female engineer, I'm very aware of the issue you're bringing up, but I would much more readily take the stance of "there are more than enough highly qualified candidates to fill your quota" than the "I was picked for my skill and not my race" side of this debate.

I take the stance of "I love being a black woman, but I hate what it means to other people" and I like to think this may apply to Big Hit as well in the appropriately parallel sense.
