Most girl groups get away just by lip sync on their performance, girl group member with the biggest fandom usually are visual, for solo, many visual like Sunmi with "Full Moon", "Gashina" and "Heroine" and Suzy with "Dream" (duet with Baekhyun), "Pretend" and now "In Love With Someone Else". can easily topping the chart, but most known vocalist have a hard time to do that if they lack of standard public "visual", even amazing vocalist like Luna failed because of lack fandom support and song not liked by public.

So, what do you think is the importance of vocal talent for girl group members? unsure.png

Not only for girl group, but vocal technique is important for any singer. You want to delivery good music and make people feel what you sing? You must learn how to sing properly, doesn't matter if you public is teen or not

YG beg to differ.

Korean is about popularity and viral power, if you already popular or viral because of something then your song can easily topping the chart, if you're nugu then no matter how good your vocal or your song is, you will not go anywhere.

True. Still, I think it's important

Well in the past we have seen nugu singers with exceptional singing skill get no where and have short nothing careers and people with limited range and technique top the charts.

...and vice versa.

It doesn't have to be an amazingly difficult song to sing nor require the best vocal ability in the world to be a great song and topped the charts.

As for the point on lip syncing Twice, Red Velvet, BlackPink, Exo, BTS, SNSD, Big Bang, Sistar, the list goes on and on...All of these bands have and/or continue to lip sync many many times and yet it doesn't harm them largely does it? They are still top performing Idol groups and have huge fanbases too.

Can being a great singer help you as an idol, duh, yes it can. Does not being a great singer mean you can't be an idol or more so can't be one of the biggest idols...no.

It's importance is obviously subjective to the listener.

On a personal front i prefer singers who have some moderate to great vocal ability. However, if it's about what sells it's no secret there are plenty of vocalists who have hit in big while lacking in even having "decent" vocals. Vocal tonality is also a considering factor. There are some vocalists who have excellent vocal tones, but vocally just are terribly weak when it comes to vocal proficiency.

The only person in a group that I expect great vocals out of is the main vocalist tbh. Anyone else with good vocals is a nice bonus
