What's with all these new strange baby names?

I'm at an age where half my friends have their shit together and are having babies and the other half can't find a clean t-shirt to wear for work in the morning.

3 of my friends have had kids and are aged 25+

They've named their children, Caesar, Fox and Finlay. It's 2 boys and a girl, can you guess their genders based on their name?

Another friend is now having twin boys and is calling them Romeo and Paris.

I've never once remarked on the names and have only said congrats, how nice but mentally, I'm like WTF.

I thought it was just my friends but I went to a toddler group with Caesar and his/her parent and I got to meet Lysander, Diesel and Snow. (Snow was inspired by the Hunger Games)

So it seems like everyone has gone a little mad.

i had a friend named Fox in primary school. i remember because i thought his name was neat when i was like 7

I thought Fox was a new thing, wow.

There was a girl in the 9th grade called Malaria and now there's a kid I know called Tregg

Malaria? Poor kid.

Imagine having a creature grow in your body for 9 months and pushing it out of your body in intense pain to name it Fox

I suppose when you go through all that, you're going to go with the name you want, regardless of how silly it sounds to other people, but it's a tragic name.

Wait till someone names their son Sasuke.

Someone will and I will freak out if I ever meet them. I met a Goku once and I was shook. The poor boy clearly had to deal with  reactions like mine for years, because he was like, "yes, yes, I'm named after that show"

Yeah...I don't know if it was true or not, but I would hear her name come up in convos and the kids would act like it's normal. I've never met or seen her before because my school was quite big, but I can only imagine the how hard it must have been growing up. Then my friend told me about a friend SHE has whose nickname is Bola because her full name is too hard to pronounce apparently, and when the whole "Ebola Crisis" started up it was bad....

I like Caesar. It's historical. It's also not that strange considering Cesar is a common name. Lysander's cool too. Though I am a biased history nerd 0u0plz.png  The other names though wthplz.png

Malaria? Really? What were the parents thinking.

I come across strange names at work. Middle aged people name Princess, Blessed, etc.

Caesar makes me think of the salad not Julius Caesar. Lysander's cool, just a little odd, he goes by Sander, so it's not that bad. Paris & Romeo I just don't get.

I guess the middle aged people had hippy parents from the 70's, I know a Rain who's like 50.

Did y’all know that the most popular male baby name in the UK in 2016 is actually

Muhammad

I don’t know if it’s cause there really are a lot more Muslims in the UK now or they are just naming their kids that for fun [emoji848]

Well no wonder sasuke "left" konoha

Don't mind my bad joke but I wouldn't be surprised if kishi named him because of that lol

I can deal with Caesar since that's actually a normal name (though I guess it would be more common in Italy?) and Romeo is decent, but I can't help but shake my head at names like Fox and Snow unsure.png Paris is fine, but to me it's more a girl's name than a boy's...

One of my cousins is pregnant and she told us the names she had planned out depending on the gender. She said she would have named her snow if it was a girl. I was hoping and praying that it was gonna be a boy just so she wouldn't be able to name the baby Snow and thankfully she had the gender reveal party a month ago where she said it would be a boy and I was so happy, lol. hurrplz.png

Sadly, the boy's name is also weird, but at least it's not snow idontthinksobetchplz.png
