Ikr! He definitely is smaller compared to the two guys, I also imagined him to be a little big bigger than that. But if he's that small, the other guys are definitely smaller than him!

And yes, that is definitely a natural smile, I hardly ever see that from him, tbh. He looks really happy with these guys. I think he'll keep in touch with them. I think he is doing this cooking as a way to keep himself busy in the off season. 

 

And LOL! I also have a feeling that I'm overthinking it as well. I don't think he's following Daniel either, but I know he's close with him because he follows his sister and visited her. lol

That's from an early variety show they did - one of the ones where poor David ended up having to eat something awful, iirc.

 

I really wish Mongie hadn't pushed them in the direction of a 'typical' idol group with the cutesy. Considering the gap between the original concept and what they ended up doing, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's why David left and Dari's not (I assume) coming back. It's pretty much not what they signed up for.  

 

They could have been a pretty fantastic new generation hip hop group (with the strength of the rap line and Jisu and Daniel to mix things up with amazing vocals) and while they might not have made it huge, they wouldn't have been buried among all the other idol groups because they would have been bringing something genuinely different to the table.

I wish that he didn't either. They could've been something more dynamic and so forth because their talent is just right there, and it's powerful. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if that was a motive that pushed David to leave, because that type of thing didn't even seem like him from the beginning - same with Dari because they remind me a lot like each other anyway.

 

Dalmatian's first album was EVERYTHING. If they had kept that thing up, they definitely would've been bigger than were they are at. Makes me sad sometimes, because I fell in love with them. 

 

I feel like I'm a curse sometimes lol, it's like my favorite groups never really make it where they actually deserve to be. They are so underrated compared to everything else. 

 

See, I don't know. It's so hard to say where they would be if they'd gone a different direction, musically.

 

I keep thinking if they'd gone hip-hop, they would have been like Block B, only a couple of years earlier. I know they said (or at least Simon did and the others didn't disagree) that State of Emergency was closer to what they wanted to do than the first album. A little darker, a little more mature. LESS CUTESY (I don't like the cutesy. Not from people in their 20s and certainly not from 3 guys nearing or entering their 30s, that's just friggin' ridiculous). The first album did a lot to showcase them more individually without giving anyone a solo, really, and SoE was great at bringing them together and giving some group definition and sound.

 

I just really REALLY hope that album that's on hold makes it out eventually. They have too much talent to squander by leaving it to collect dust.

 

 

All of this. My favorite groups never make it either.

I still think there's still a little hope for Dari though.

I'm actually more concerned about Daniel not being about to come back to the group

DMTN can survive without Dari and David, but without Daniel who knows...

 

I worry about that, too. Dan's vocals are sort of the backbone. He's got all the power. I can only really compare him to Kyuhyun - Kyu has beautiful tone, control, excellent range. I dunno if Dan has the same range (he doesn't need to, with Jisu around to cover the upper part of the register), but his control and tone are friggin' gorgeous and I will be PISSED if he ultimately manages to squander his own talent along with the rest of DMTN's talent.

 

(There are few male voices I like better in all of kpop than Kyu's - and that's usually because Kyu's not intensely emotive when he sings. Junsu and Yesung have him beat in that department, imo. But I like his tone over Junsu's, and he has better control and is steadier than Yesung.)

*Sigh* man I don't even want to think about it. I just feel like DMTN/Dalmatian are dwindling into nothing.

There were some more mature songs on their first album like 'Really Really', 'Real Eyes', and 'Lost In Love' so I don't feel as though they did a total 180 as far as style goes.

I would however love it if the two styles were combined into a more darker more mature and classy hip hop style with smooth r&b, and I feel like they were on their way there. They were finally developing a sound (one that they were proud of and at the same time attracted lots of new fans).

Also I don't think that Dari doesn't suit their current sound though. If you listened to his mixtape, a couple of his songs had a darker or more mature sound.

 

Hmm I think all of those singers you mentioned have better vocals than Daniel, but Daniel was improving. I feel like he's improved more than Jeesu since debut. Daniel's voice is very masculine and that's what I like about it. I also think he is a huge asset stylistically when it comes to composing and such. Drive is my favorite song from State of Emergency and it sounds very 'Daniel'. I feel like Daniel was very heavy handed in his contribution to State of Emergency. He listens to a lot of Bob Marley and I can hear that influence in 'Still By Ur Side' and I know he listens to a lot of 90's and early 2000's r&b too. I don't think they would have done covers of 'Officially Missing You' and 'Brown Sugar" if not for Daniel.

 

Yeah, the tone is what I think matches so closely to Kyu. I dunno if it's the resonance or the 'flavor' of his voice or what, but I find it very appealing for both Kyu and Dan. Masculine is a pretty good word for it. I just like the lower register.   I think they're both tenors (probably everyone in Kpop qualifies as tenor - Jisu's practically a soprano   ; I think his range is higher than mine and I have a vagina), but there's a certain richness to their voices (K and D) that strikes me as similar.

 

Maybe it's just the potential? So many main vocals in kpop are good singers but they only shine within the group. There are so few stand-out vocalists among group-based idols who could actually make a go of a solo career and do well. Of everybody in DMTN, I think Dan would have the best chance, purely on vocal talent. No, he's not on that level yet... and it makes me very sad to consider we may never find out if he *can* get there.

That's my worst nightmare, the group with out Daniel. I honestly and truly don't think they'd be able to continue on successfully without Daniel. For so many reasons, of course, his voice was the number one reason why I was attracted to the groups music, along with Jisu's (with those two, the group has one of the greatest treasures!). Then the fact that he does help keep the group's name afloat with his various activities, like when he was hosting the show he was on - and given that he's very charismatic and just an awesome entertainer, I think that brings a lot of attention in.

:/ It makes me sad not knowing exactly where everything is going. I wish 2Works would at least give us a periodic update. We haven't heard a thing since. 

 

Really, this! This was an album that we've been waiting for the LONGEST. And like you said, they have far too much talent to just throw away. 

Tbh, I enjoyed them with their E.R. concept, while I enjoyed the music off of their initial album, the cutesy "Dalmatian" concept was far too awkward for me to watch. Especially with the fact that we had to watch Inati, David, and Dari participate in this type of stuff when it really did not match them one bit. It was too conforming and they didn't have to conform when they have solid talent.

I really... the screaming thing...   I just want to know what the hell the circumstances were for that scene. Edit: I was staring at that screen cap and realized he looks like he's, for some reason, dressed like the male lead character - the outfit and the backpack look like something the other teacher would normally wear in any given episode.

 

I've said it before - Round One is fine... until the bow wow wow starts, and then I facepalm. It's fun and interesting otherwise... but the bow wow turns it into something ridiculous. I have no idea what Mong was thinking to greenlight that.

 

That Man Opposed was cute... but it was also interesting and gave them all something to do, and it was playful without being childish. The MV being not quite in a box and having sort of a plot involving more than one girl was also rather fresh (STILL IS, honestly).

 

Lover Cop was... a step backward. The sound was there, but the lyrics again are kind of silly (the english, anyway... which I find less forgivable in a group with two native english speakers). The MV was darker, they *looked* more mature (the outfits are all just win), the choreography was better, tighter.

 

ER was a leap forward. The lack of shirts was a nice touch, but I would have liked the song AND the MV just as much even if they'd kept their clothes on (...maybe slightly less perving, but seriously, with the abs on display on DalmaTV and whatnot, we would have known what they were hiding sooner or later   ).

I kinda wonder what song they might have used for follow up promotions if Mongie's scandal hadn't broken right then.

 

And Safety Zone was beautiful. But shifted too far in the direction of standard boybands - they've slid a long ways away from the nearly even split between vocals and rap on the 1st mini. I trust to a certain point that the followup album would have evened that out to some degree, but it still bugs me quite a bit that 3/5 of the group got very little screen time (mere seconds in 2 cases and I still don't know how Jisu somehow got LESS screen time than Inati) in the MV and Inati can be heard for all of what, 5-7 seconds for his couple of lines in a 3:26 song.

...and I would be all for using that arm for a pillow and letting him fling a leg over me.

I especially agree with you when you talk about Safety Zone going into the standard direction of boybands, because it did. That song was really great and of course, always justifies their talent, but it didn't exactly set them apart from the rest. :/

 

I LIKE the new hair! It looks so much better shorter like this. And yet the sides are long enough to sort of help with his adorable ears.   ... I've never had a thing for ears before, this is a bit odd.

I have been getting into girl groups more lately. I feel like I am cheating on DMTN in I start liking any new guy groups lol. There's a couple that have been impressing me (one is kinda nugu) but I can't seem to be enthusiastic and spazz about them like I would DMTN.

I would probably cry a river of joy if I heard new that DMTN were making a comeback with Daniel + Dari + sexy song + blonde Simon + Intae wearing some type of stage outfit that exposes his arms.

Lately I have been coming up with concepts and hairstyles that could DMTN trying lol. Obsessed much?

I think we need a group hug. And/or a crying-it-out session. At this point I just want resolution on Dan's case, because 2works isn't going to say ANYthing about the future of the group until that happens.

 

I'm having hard core DMTN withdrawals. ;_; it's been 6 long months without seeing them all together.

I also need a REAL update from Simon, not his random music posts or repost of old pics. I miss him, I need to see him. 

 

In the meantime, I've been discovering new groups I never paid attention to before, like....B.A.P.   I NEVER fell in love so fast with a group like that before. I should've paid attention to them early on. Daehyun's voice <3 omg...............

But yes, I LOVE his new hair cut, it's simply flawless! He looks SO much better without the bangs, it just looks so mature and sexy. He really works it well! I wanna call him "daddy' 

And his abs look great, his body is in perfect shape, he's not all super skinny and not extraordinarily buff. He's perfect.

I kind of... I have a weird fan relationship with BAP. Their first lot of promoted tracks (Warrior, Power, No Mercy) sounded *identical* to me - or at least close enough that I was surprised to find out they weren't the same song with a promo gap or something. Much like SJ, I like the non-promoted tracks better.

For all the things I like about BYG (very smart, pays attention to politics and current events, writes his own stuff and it isn't fluff, his voice), there are several things I dislike (far and away that he's a huge Chris Brown fanboy (I can't separate what I think of the person with what I think of their product).

 

They're an entertaining group to watch (they also were on Gurupop Show, so you can watch them all interact with our Daniel).

 

But overall, I think I prefer Block B. (don't hurt me) Their discography is much smaller, but Blockbuster is a hot-damn solid album and Nillili Mambo is amazing (and the MV is fan-freaking-tastic). I will be pretty sad if they can't come back from their contract dispute. And they don't seem to give a damn about their image. They are kings of derp face.

 

...whereas BAP hasn't yet learned how to GO AWAY so fans can actually start to miss them. That's a pretty significant drawback to promoting ALL THE TIME. Fans will frenzy for other groups they've had to wait for, while there's no build-up for new BAP releases and they run the risk of fans just getting irritated if they suddenly don't meet their quota of new tracks... which will be their own damned fault for setting this expectation. PLUS the greater possibility of someone getting hurt (hi Himchan) from not having any time to rest.

I had a weird Simon dream last night, which is weird because he's not my bias. I think its because of the DMTN videos I watched before I went to sleep, but why he would be the one to creep into my subconscious I have no idea. I have never even had a dream about somone from kpop.

When do you expect a resolution to Daniel's case? I feel really bad for Dalmates. Always waiting...and this is like one of the worst case scenarios for a group too. I would have imagined this happening tbh.

I really like BYG. More than I like Zico actually. As talented as he may be, I like Zico but he seems very hyper and ADHD to me and there are times when I find it immensely annoying, especially when he's with equally annoying Park Kyung. However, I prefer Taeil's voice to that BAP main vocal. I can't for the bolded reasons above. Its true that they don't know how to go away. They are overexposed. Also their promoted songs just seem too forceful. I would say more but I'll just leave it at that.

 

Join the kpop dream club!    There should be a board for that. Or a thread. There probably is; I haven't looked. Mine usually just make me irritable. I dreamt about Shinhwa's Eric last night. Woke up and was just bothered that if I was going to dream about Shinhwa, why could it not be either of my biases? Or why couldn't I finally have a happy dream about Inati (those tend to go to weird places, leaving me unhappy at best)?

 

No idea on Dan's case. There hasn't been ANY kind of update in like two months now.

 

And yeah... on a personal/fan level, I prefer BYG, though I think Zico is actually a stronger rapper. Block B has a more cohesive sound without everything sounding the same, which is impressive for how little music they've put out as a group.

Yeah I asked the same thing. Why couldn't it have been one of my biases. Simon is hot but meh. Why couldn't have be 5zic or if someone from DMTN why not goofy azz Jeesu? At least I like Simon enough to not mind having a dream about him. Love his raspy voice

I can actually imagine a dream about Inati being really weird and awk. Inati does a lot of strange things that I never understand. I think Inati probably makes me laugh more than Jeesu does, because one minute he's being all serious and sexy and the next he's doing something weird.

 

Celeste might remember these, as I had posted about them on the DMTN thread on AKP pre-"update."

 

One of the dreams was pretty hazy even right after it happened, I think. It's been awhile now, so it just continues to fade and that stupid thread is broken (or impossible to find, and I'm not wading through that craptacular site for hours to try to find it) so I can't just go look it up. 

 

The super hazy dream, the only part I remember now is sitting side by side. At some point I leaned over and kissed him. And a bit later, he leaned over and returned the favor and the dream faded to black.

 

A different dream, we were again sitting next to each other, playing some kind of console game. I was frustrated because I didn't understand the game (iirc, it was a korean karaoke game). And then one of my friends shoves in between us and starts making out with him.   She doesn't even think he's attractive IRL, so I was confused and miffed in both the dream and when I woke up.

 

And the primary dream... for some reason, he was at my workplace. With a snake. Like... a large python. And he kept trying to get me to touch it and I (terrified of snakes, if not actually to the point of being phobic) just got more and more freaked out about it. I kept backing away from him while HE was getting mad that I wouldn't touch the stupid snake, and I eventually got too close to the window (there are floor-ceiling windows right next to my main cubicle at work). At that point, the dream shifted and he grabbed me (snake vanished) and pulled me to safety.

 

The response from a couple of my fellow former AKPers was along the lines of "you wanted his 'snake.'   "

MY response was 'YES, but not an actual python! If it had been a freudian dream, I wouldn't have been afraid of the snake!'

And last night was completely random. I dreamt about first Yunho and then Junsu.

 

I don't remember now what the Yunho dream was about, but with Junsu... we were just hanging out, playing with his cats. (   AND   at the same time, really)

In my dream, he had a long haired grey tabby named Kevin. There's no emote that quite captures my mix of WTF and ...okay...? when I woke up from that one.

 

What's sad is that's probably the best dream I've had in awhile, because my idea of fun is being trampled by friendly kittehs.   (Seriously, the most fun I've had in years was visiting an animal shelter and seeing a multi-cat room with like a dozen cats and they were ALL thrilled when people came in to say hi to them. Cat-person playground.)

I don't know if there's a *lot* of hope, but there is some.

 

Sometimes sentences in the US can be mitigated by a number of factors (what the defense mentioned - first offense, 'cultural differences.' He's also cooperated with the police, admitted his guilt, apologized, and stayed to face sentencing when he could probably have also fled the country).

But I don't know how SK courts work.

 

This is simply what the prosecution asked for and the court noted it. I think they probably would have gotten a lot of flack if they had asked for a lighter sentence (as that would suggest to the public that it's not a serious thing that he did). But there are the other trials to get through, and while I don't know if it's a jury or just a judge who will make the final call, if the other people involved were worse (the seller), his sentence might be reduced because he simply won't look so bad by comparison.

 

My guess...

1 - If he ends up just being fined, there will still be a massive hiatus (at least for him), and the group may still never recover.

2 - If he is given any jailtime at all, 2works will either drop him and try to truck on with the rest of the group, or they'll disband.

Inati's just been cryptic lately. He doesn't post much on his twitter, but first it was 'I'm sad' and then a few days later, 'I love you.'

 

My brain just jumps straight to bad news. "oh, so there's been a decision made somewhere and Intae's sad but trying to be supportive and they're all going back into the studio to re-record the album that was supposed to be out in May."

 

  I am very good at jumping to conclusions. It is a talent. And perhaps a curse.

I'm kinda with Entropy on this one.  

The super best case scenario is that Daniel gets off with just a fine (it will bother netizens enough if that's all he gets) and the group still goes on a long hiatus (because that's just how things are done after a scandal in SK) and then makes a comeback (but whether or not that comeback achieves anything is just as up in the air as if there will BE any comebacks for them). Or they take a short hiatus and then start promoting primarily in Japan (which means no comeback stages for Dalmates).

 

We already know the worst case scenario.

 

As for Dari's post... He probably does just miss being on stage. I don't honestly think he's in DMTN now anymore than David is.

On the 17th, the court stated, "Daniel acted as the intermediary in the selling of marijuana 12 times and sold marijuana 4 times." It is also said that although he previously denied smoking it in the very beginning of the investigation, after a hair strand test was conducted the prosecution found that he tested positive for it.And so today,the court sentenced him to 1 year in jail and a penalty of 7,160,000 KRW.

 

 

Regarding Daniel's plea for leniency last time, in which his lawyer argued that having grown up in the U.S., Daniel has a more relaxed attitude towards marijuana, the court stated, "Even if he has a weak recognition that smoking marijuana is illegal, it is still a crime. Especially selling and acting as the intermediary in selling is a major crime."

 

 

"Daniel has participated in the hearings and investigation seriously and diligently and he has also expressed that he will enlist in the military on his own and serve the country. Taking these factors into consideration, we have sentenced him to the minimum amount that we can give him based on the law."

 

then he's going to be 1 year in jail and 2 years in the army right after.... sighs

It's good of him to elect to go into the military after his sentence has been served, but it isn't going to matter to netizens. They'll accuse him of using the military service to try to get back on the good side of public opinion and I can't say they'd be wrong - there was no hint of this until now, so I suspect it was thrown in there to get him minimal jail-time. It's probably the only way for him to salvage any future he might have in SK, but he's an idol, not an actor... so they'll never let it pass.

 

I'm just... sad, I guess. Empty is maybe the right word for it. Jisu can't carry the vocals by himself and I don't see them bringing in someone new, so I really won't be surprised if they drop off the radar completely or we get news of their disbandment in the coming weeks.

 

I'm sorry. I wish I had hope to share, but I'm fresh out.
