Hmm I see that's cool. I wish I was a fan of a group since their debut but the only ones would be NU'EST and EXID for now. What other groups do you like?

And yeah... I grew up with a mom who listed to 'oldies,' an older sister who listened to country music and broadway musicals and an older brother who listened to classic rock and heavy metal. So... the only kind of music I didn't really get exposed to when I was little was rap and hip-hop... which weren't really a 'thing' in the area I grew up. There weren't many radio stations to choose from and none of them were exactly playing Ice-T or Public Enemy on heavy rotation (or at all).

Well, I guess two fancams are better than none! Even if they did do Round One. And there's no Dari so it's just four of them.

 

They're not terribly synchronized on Safety Zone. Either that or I haven't watched it for awhile, but it looked like a few obvious missteps from both Intae and Simon early in the performance... and the backing track is quite loud... so I guess Dan's there vocally, though it certainly *looks* like they tried to give everything to Jisu.

Sorry I have been MIA Dalmates, school and the summer heat has been kicking my butt.

 

I am so happy to see DMTN on stage even though its only 4. I must say that I got a little misty seeing them like that.

But they did good considering. I mean, it itwasn't their best but they did put forth some effort.

I must also also say that they all looked really good .

Especially that Jeesu. The next thing you know I'm going to be Jeesu biased, because it seems like he gets better looking everytime I see him. 

As for Dari not being there, a little annoying considering he would've only had to learn Safety Zone, but he has been doing more modeling lately so maybe he didn't have time? Or maybe I'm just being delusional and the possibility is pretty grim .

 

I'm grateful they didn't just give up and disband... but I'm a disappointed Dalmate.   Round One is by far my least favorite track (it's always   but then the bow wow wow happens and I just   over the ridiculousness of it) and then SZ with the missteps and the missing Dan (made *more* obvious by the backing track being loud... which just made the lip sync super obvious, as if Dalmates don't know that vocally, Dan and Jisu sound nothing alike anyway, so none of us would have been fooled). I would rather they left Dan's spot open or brought in a back dancer for it the way they did when Inati had to miss a stage for other filming.

 

In re: Dari - at this point, it's safe to say he's not coming back to the group. He was public service - he had time to putz around on IG a lot, he could have been brushing up on the older songs and learning SZ in his downtime if the plan was to come back. I suppose if they ever release the album that's on hold, maybe he'll be involved in that, but I'm no longer holding my breath.

Intae's acting amuses me though, lol! He's funny and sexy, too!

 

It can be dissatisfying when there is actually supposed to be 6 guys in full, but there's only four. Not to mention, they probably haven't been doing a lot of practicing either. Considering how engaged they've been with their other activities, whether they are minor or serious, it feels like they probably didn't put all of the DMTN promoting at the very top of their list and that's understandable, too. 

 

I don't buy it. Mistakes happen, yeah... maybe the timing was off because there were only the four of them, I have no idea... but if promoting as DMTN isn't their priority for the ONE EVENT they've had since March, they're just plain doing something wrong.

I don't know if it matters, but here's the link to our old DMTN thread on Allkpop. Tbh, I miss it there. Don't get me wrong, OH is awesome when it comes to being able to reunite and meet new Dalmates, but I really just miss being in AKP's territory if that makes any sense. Although I will admit that I HATEEEEE the new layout. I'm just waiting until the beta version is over with. It's a mess, it really is.

I miss what it was. AKP successfully drove away a significant chunk of their consumer base by that half-assed "update." I've been told they didn't bother listening to any of the beta testers, mods were left out of the loop, etc. It's been up for weeks (months?) now, and they've made literally no improvements to anything (well, at least not anything user-friendly that I give a shit about).

Absolutely. I think that's what I miss, what it used to be. 

AKP has actually really pissed me off for a long time, but the only thing that kept me coming back was the community, like you guys.

 

This forum right here is actually a response to the original "upgrade", the one you and I know each other from. It's like the admin of AKP NEVER consider what their loyal fans and followers like and that is how they successfully drive people away. Not to mention, Johnnydorama is just a big fucking douche. I'll always hate him. 

I heard about that drama and I saw a thread that Johnny made to victimize himself and the staff of AKP, knowing that he made himself look bad.

Random, but how would you feel if it was revealed that Inati was getting married/was married?

Tbh, I would be extremely disappointed. Of course, I would be forced to get over it, but I think it would be traumatic for me as a fan. Lol, that's bad.

 

When Simon claims that he has that name recognize disorder, I still can't tell if he's being serious or just saying things. Still, I'm surprised that it's really considered a disorder. Anything can almost be considered a disorder nowadays, can't it?

 

As for David, he really is all over the place. The guy is truly doing it big. I'm certain that this was what he wanted to do rather than actually performing with DMTN. You gotta admit that the concept they where going with when he was apart of the group was corny as hell. Great music, but corny ass concept. And the whole idol image thing didn't match anything David had, anyway.

 

Well, Robotcat's here, she's just not updated us on what's up in some time. And at least Moxx and Hangulover are both on tumblr (and Moxx is on G+), so there's that. Not the same as regular fangirl freakouts with them, though. =/

 

Bolded for appropriate emphasis (in re: disorders). I suppose it depends on if it actually affects him negatively? I just don't think we're 'wired' to remember thousands of different people. We regularly interact with a pretty small number of people, and it sounds like he thinks he ought to be able to remember all his fans. O.o  Which is just kind of crazy, unless (*maybe*) there are a few fans who keep showing up at everything and he feels bad because he doesn't remember their names.

 

I thought David had made it pretty clear that he wanted to be behind the scenes but not so much on stage. He's literally in it for the music, not the performance, so I'm happy for him that he's where he wants to be. He is still a pretty namja, though.

 

As for Inati... he's flat out said he'd hide it if he was in a relationship (even just dating) because he knows perfectly well it would affect the entire group's popularity. So he could be already married, for all we know. I doubt it, though. If he was in a serious relationship or married, he would have been better off leaving the group with the company switch and focusing on acting, where just having a girlfriend isn't likely to break your career.

 

That said, if it did come out, I'd be more disappointed if he was married than just 'oh, he's seeing someone.' Finding out he's married would feel like being lied to - part of the whole idol deal is the perception that they're 'available.' Finding out he's dating would just be... 'well, guy's in his 30s now, that seems normal.'

 

I think the only idol group that could get away with any of them being married and still performing as idols would be Shinhwa. Part of that is probably because they've all talked about it - in regards to themselves, and their fans.   A lot of the fans that grew up with them are now married with kids.

 

Though... the day Junjin or Dongwan announces they have a serious girlfriend and/or are getting married, I will go into shock and then there will be ugly sobbing. There may be dramatic music, lying on the floor and refusing to get up, too.

I suppose you're right, but just like you said, I don't think we're meant to remember every single name we come across so I don't understand it to be honest. I guess if it does affect him that badly, then it would be understandable...but still, I wouldn't trip out if I were him. He's sweet for wanting to remember and at least recognizing who was who, though. 

 

Didn't David (I'm going to have to admit, it feels funny for me to call him "David", when even still I refer to him as "DayDay") produce a lot of DMTN's songs when he was in the group? Either way, I really think his work is amazing and he has the benefit of being recognized for his work with DMTN and now working in the background. He's had the best of both experience wise.

 

RIGHT! I've never found the words to say it, but the thing with idols is that they already make it seem as if they are available or at least not that far in a relationship. I always wished that these guys would be up front like celebs in the western world are. It would certainly never come off as a "scandal" as these things always do. I like knowing who's dating who. I personally think it's better that way to be honest. For the fans and the celebs. It reestablishes realistic boundaries that these guys are human and will be in relationships no matter how much they put on for us. And it also saves a lot of delulu fans like myself from falling head over heels for guys who would never be mine lol!

 

The West has never had as much of a boyband craze as SK has, but we do have our 'idols,' and them dating doesn't always go over well with their fans. But we also have different standards on what's a scandal and what's not. Bieber on a date might make his crazy fans crazier, but it's not a "scandal" to us.

 

But in a culture where an idol's also-idol girlfriend gets death threats and "fans" literally crap on their favorite group's doorstep to mark their territory... I can understand why they choose to keep their heads down. The police there can't seem to be bothered to do anything about serious crimes, much less 'trivial' things like stalking and breaking&entering. Not that those things are ever reported to the police, as that would somehow reflect negatively on the idols themselves.

 

Plus, it would affect the group, which is Inati's point (and it's valid, even if I don't like it). I have no creeper feels for anyone else in DMTN. Inati being married wouldn't stop me from liking and paying for their music, but I can imagine if they were a local band and one of the major draws to go spend money on a concert or merchandise was TEH FEELS... I would be unlikely to go to a concert or buy merchandise when I would be uncomfortable about creeping on him (hell, I would be uncomfortable ogling him in performances). I think I'm a pretty faithful fan, all things considered, and *I* would have a hard time coping with 'losing' my major bias. Imagine how more fickle fans would behave.

Now that becomes horrifying. I don't think I'd even want to be an idol any more if I had to go through that. I would no longer be flattered at fans obsessing over me. I would fear for mine and my lovers life. It's just so extreme. Sometimes, though, I do wonder that if they were ever open about it would it ever eventually become a norm? After all the craziness died down, I wonder if there'd ever be a chance where idols could live normally and be up front with us.

 

International fans and domestic fans have incredibly different values and I think this part is where we differ.

I think more of them are *trying* to be open about it - there are apparently less dating bans in place with companies, fewer of the idols insist they've never ever been on a date (which... just... how people believe that is beyond me). Fans in general are less insane in their responses (SM seems to still inspire rabid insanity).

 

I don't think it will ever become 'normal,' though. For better or worse, if fans look at them as 'just like us,' it basically reduces their market value. As people, we go out of our way to help our friends... but we do absolutely insane shit to try to impress people we find attractive. The illusion of exclusivity and being up on that pedestal of 'omg oppar is sooooo hotttttt' is what keeps the idol industry afloat.
