I guess you never read the manga? For a few months now, the arc is about what happened to Ciel and his family 3 yrs ago. Basically what all fans have been waiting for

The most recent anime adaptation is a movie, Book of Atlantic, released last year. It's available everywhere on the net

 

I'm not sure if you know this but Kuroshitsuji is not a shounen ai manga, nor was it initially planned to be so, Toboso Yana confirmed that herself

lmao yeah not just back then, even now people still ship them while knowing Ciel's and Sebastion's relationships are strictly "contractual" lol and Sebastian will just eat Ciel if he gets the chance

 

A few months ago, a few year-old theory (I'm not exactly sure when the theory started but it's been there for awhile) became canon and everyone in the fandom went crazy, including me yes. Since then, each chapter has been a ride.
