I'm talking N***a and not the -er version.

Do you think people are oversensitive and there's a double standard?

Basically, i'm curious. In a thread earlier someone used it and I pointed it out. Any discussion was shut down - which honestly I wasn't intending for one. (I'm more annoyed that someone can be a "black woman" inside - how? try explaining that without using stereotypes and treating Black obviously American women as one-dimensional... but that's a tangent for another day.)

If you can read this:

HEY! That’s not fair! Either everyone can use it or nobody can use it!!!

Well, no. Reclaiming slurs doesn’t really work like that. When used by non-Black PoC or white people, it still has that power to oppress and trigger, even when used in a camaraderie sense. When used amongst Black people, its power as a slur is reduced. source

And still think it's a double standard, it kind of makes you seem intolerant. Sorry.

Thanks for your time~

never used it and never will (i'm white though)

well, i agree with you... when you spend time thinking about it, it does seem silly that the offensive word was slightly changed

if you want, you can look at it as a deep metaphor to show that the past was overcome (the one ending in "gga")

we can also just not think about it
