I am a broke bitch, well I am not but i refuse to spend money on books I will just need for 8 weeks so I buy summaries, too bothered and lazy to write them myself. Our lectures get recorded, thank god, because I never go. I just listen it back with a higher speed and the stuff they talk about the most is what I will read more than once in the summaries. I used to read. Write whatever I remember without looking and then write whatever I forgot and focus on those parts. youtrieditduh 4,575 Posted January 15, 2018 Share Posted January 15, 2018 first of all the teachers always put up past exams and the goals of what we should know and which chapters that is important. we have to many books and with so many pages so its better to focus on information that will be on exams so I always read first and takes notes and highlight which part I think its the most important and then I explain to myself loud. I end up with 100-200 pages of written shit for each course and I'm really sorry, trees of the world, it's the only way I'm able to memorize things. I also take terms I'm even the slightest unsure of and research like mad. Putting it in your own words instead of just spitting out what your teacher has taught you is the key to understanding what you're learning and not just memorizing. Then I do all the prescribed readings for that week's lecture, lots of highlighting and annotation and then make notes on them. Not exactly summary notes but what I got out of it and how it relates to lecture material. This has to be done before the tutorial the next week where we discuss the readings and lecture.
