Well they were still in the red in 2016, and just started turning a profit in 2017. So probably not that much but better than before

Why omg this makes me suspicious what do y’all know

They were in the red? :O

What happened with Gaon I missed it

I was just gonna make the thread cause I keep seeing Mic Drop everywhere and they're probably getting mad royalties lmao

Ah ok lol i thought it was because Gaon announced they weren't gonna show the weekly sales anymore, and i've seen ppl accusing companies (SM, YG, Big Hit...) of bribing them lmfaooo

Most recent estimate I’ve seen re: numbers, but I don’t think it factors in expenses:

Some more from the same show (on ChannelA) with the subject "Everything about Idols"

(I noticed that  Sleepy is part of the panel)

Summed this up real quickly... hope I didn't leave anything major out:

-BTS mentioned as "Life Reversal Idols" (meaning... their lives have completely changed for the better)

-Discussing their achievements (and watching in awe at their US reception at the AMAs :))

-Their move into their new dorm -- they noted that BH stated the single most important factor for moving to their current location was for the great privacy and security

- They're guessing BTS's estimated earnings are now closer to around 100billion KRW (~93.6 million USD)

-Their name change, not only using BTS more often but changing the meaning to Beyond the Scene

- Their hopes that BTS's success, so far, opens the doors for more K-pop success, at the very least, showing Korean culture in a favorable light

- It was noted that BTS's AMA performance was watched live at the Blue House

(starting at 1:00:13)

Prob won’t know for sure unless they go public, which they’re considering.

Yea. Gotta spend a lot of money and invest a lot of money into groups before you start making a profit.

Yeah, but i thought by 2016 they were kinda ...at least stable?

They are getting richer and richer as BTS becomes more popular.

I got interested in how much bighit grew over the years and found this table someone made some time ago, i don't remember well where, but i saved it and still have it. It's trustworthy because the sales numbers from 2015 match to what you can find on business websites when you search for bighit.

what these numbers mean in order:

Sales

Salary/pay (for workers i suppose)

Business profits/operating profits

Foreign currency translation gains

Net profit after the deduction of corporate tax

Z76zkew.jpgAnd this is for 2016, i found it while looking for bighit on a job offerings website 2015 and 2016

dOJk6lB.png

So when it comes to sales they went from 5 billion won in 2013, 5.9 billion won in 2014, 12.2 billion won in 2014 to 35 billion won in 2016

Also it seems like in 2013 the company's profits were -3.4 billion won, in 2014 they were -6.4 billion won and they got out of debt in 2015 when their profits were 1.5 billion won.

Their profits were 11 billion won in 2016.

For 2017 i didn't find anything yet.

If i made mistakes or if i wrote some bullshit here, someone please correct me smile.png

I feel like I’m not sure why they are going public so early tho.. they have plenty of profits to train new groups and BTS is still bringing in more so it’s not like they need to raise that much additional capital.. I feel like BTS has been different because Bighit is still somewhat small and is a lot more chill with them so they can be a lot more creative and stuff. I feel like all they have just been focusing on is putting out good content, whether or not it’s free or anything. And even tho there are plenty of other successful artistes, BTS strike me as one of the happiest around because they have more freedom. I can’t help but feel that once the company goes public the culture is gonna change, the management is definitely gonna be a lot more profit-minded and it’s gonna become more stifling like SM or JYP.

2016? red? what?:derp:

Lmao is that not what was said in the article about their finances last year? That they were still in debt in 2016 aka in the red but 2017 was when the profit really started taking off? I’m sure you would clearly kno more about it tho since u know it all!
