Sky Ferreira's excellent Night Time, My Time single "I Blame Myself"now has a 90s gangsta rap-inspired music video directed by Grant Singer. Filmed in Los Angeles, it shows Ferreira leading a gang of guys in some sort of illegal activity... and then a dance routine. She subsequently gets arrested. Watch it below, via SSENSE.

In a behind the scenes video (which can be watched below), Ferreira says, "It's obviously based off of real events... people always ask me questions about certain things, and it's kind of like my response. I think actions speak louder than words." She is possibly referring to her arrest (alongside boyfriend Zachary Cole Smith of DIIV) for drug possession last fall. The video was produced by SSENSE and System Magazine—it's the first in a series of videos meant to connect the genres of "fashion film" and "music video". Stylist Ian Bradley worked on the video. i can't get into Sky Ferreira....

she straddles weird lines for me... i don't know what to make of her music... but i never seem to find it good enough to bother working it out....personal opinion ofc.

I do respect her for exposing the seedy underbelly of the Majors though. Plenty of young artists get tangled up in it all the way she did...but few who are relevant enough to put it all out there and be heard....bother to discuss it openly...probably at the risk of burning industry bridges.
