Debating if I want to watch the drama as it airs or should I watch it after a few episodes have aired/it's completed because the waiting game with dramas are a pain LOL.

I hope they go on variety shows to promote the drama.

the editing and sound team for this drama needs their salary cut

giphy.gif

especially the sound team, the loud ass music that doesn't match the scenes need to go, it's driving me crazy

I've decided to share my first impressions on the drama on OH's blog! My thoughts are bit complicated, lol, so it's best to read them in full.

Looking forward to watching today's eps!

I like your review, I agree with a lot of things you wrote. The first episode was really good but since it's a melodrama (not my favorite genre tbh) I'm still not sure if I'm going to like it, some decision the characters made in the first ep seems too over the top for me but I really like the actors, especially Moon Gayoung she owned her character

and now we have to wait a week for the next episode, this is why I hate watching dramas when they air but at the same time i'm always too impatient to wait

overall though i'm really enjoying this drama so far, i'm intrigued to see how it will all play out and how similar it will end up being to cruel intentions/dangerous liaisons (I know it's only loosely based on the two and considering the fact it's only rated 15 i'm not expecting it to be as extreme)

I like the plot, I somewhat can guessing what happen next but not really. I’m really excited for next week episodes. There are few things that I am curious.

1. taehee’s traumatizing

2. the vice’s president and taehee’s mom relationships

3. lee ki young intention/relationship toward taehee

4. shihyun’s real dad?

so far shihyun really like sooji and his deep feelings for her wont go away any sooner. Plus, the vice president and sooji’s mom relationships solely are just business. Things i’m looking forward the most is shihyun’s feeling will be shift/swayed throughout the game and taehee’s traumatic past will be discover as well as her mom past related to the vice president.

I love gayoung’s and shihyun’s acting but I love taehee’s and sejoo’s character more. I’n seriously cannot wait until the day I got to see the transition from pretending/fake feelings to real/actual feelings.

Your sig rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png He's so beautiful.

I really enjoy Sejoo's character these 2 episodes. It shows that Se Joo is a jokester but he does it to mask his feeling of being a bit left out bc of the deep feelings the other 2 have for each other.

Thanks! And thanks for reading. :) Yeah, it's definitely not my favorite either. But if they lean into the ridiculousness of the plot they're adapting and don't try to be too earnest or too extra about it, it'll be the exact kind of trashy show I'm looking to watch, lol. It's just hard to keep on that fine line.

Ah, the rating went down today though tbf, everyone except Radio Romance went down.

But still, I just want the show to somehow rise to at least 5% lul rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png rlytearpls.png

I don't understand why the ratings are so bad right now for most dramas in the time-slot idontthinksobetchplz.png  everytime I look at the ratings for Radio Romance I get salty af bc I expected it to be a hit lmao rlytearpls.png

If it it could rise that would be lovely! But i'm just going to enjoy the drama without paying much attention to everything else laugh.png

Yeah, at this point, I'm just enjoying the melodrama and silliness of the drama (like how I enjoyed Love O2O when it's so ridiculous).

What about cable drama? Do they seem to do better than the current public ones (sans My Golden Life ofc)?

Can anyone explain why is there a large discrepancy between TNMS and Nielsen?

Cable dramas are generally within the 1-3% range as they are pay-to-view channels and therefore have much smaller audiences.

The difference between TMNS and Nielsen isn't actually documented, but people assume it's because TMNS actually visits the homes of its subjects and counts the amount of individuals viewing the programs, including guests to the home. Nielsen does not.

I don't know about current cable dramas airing in the Monday-Tuesday time-slot, but is pretty clear public broadcasting systems currently are showing the same performance as cable dramas in the time-slot when they should be showing a performance of 5-7% (8-10% and above for those with above-average performance).

Is rather confusing because a public broadcast shouldn't be expected to record less than 5% but most public dramas in the Mon-Tues time-slot are underperforming like ??? Radio Romance has Kim Sohyun and is really only recording 2.9% on its now final episodes, what is going on...

With MBC the ratings have been bad for a while so the underperformance of Tempted could be a mixture of impact of underperformance from previous dramas and MBC getting an idol as their female lead for the 2nd consecutive time (The predecessor to Tempted was Two Cops and the female lead was Hyeri), the hatred for idol actors is very real so it could be the GP protesting by refusing to watch, just an observation.

That was a solid cliffhanger for an overall solid premiere episode, and I find that I actually liked it more than I anticipated. That’s saying a lot, because I love the original story, and the casting of this remake set my expectations pretty high. I thought that the characters were mostly introduced well and that the pacing was good, giving us all the information we’ll need to know once the primary plotline kicks in, without feeling rushed. Considering that the writer has a significant challenge in converting a traditionally two-hour whirlwind train wreck into a sixteen-hour drama, after such a good start, I feel confident that we’ll still get a the raw, sensational tale we expect, and that the moments between the driving narrative will feel natural to the story.

My only real nitpick is that we didn’t get to see much of Tae-hee in this first hour, but in hindsight, it makes sense that we focused on the three best friends first. Those three are complete asses to pretty much everyone, but I still can’t help but love them. I watch how they treat people outside their circle with complete disdain, and I think they couldn’t possibly be worse people. But when it’s just the three of them, you can feel how much they genuinely love and would do anything for each other. And it’s so sweet how utterly gone both guys are on Soo-ji — Se-joo particularly breaks my heart in this area, because he’s well aware that Soo-ji prefers Shi-hyun, but he can’t help loving her anyway and uses his goofy humor to hide his sadness. Not that Shi-hyun has much of a chance with her either, because Soo-ji only sees him as her best friend. I’m almost looking forward to their revenge plan, because it’s time for something to happen to pull their focus outside of their safe little friendship bubble.

I originally had mixed feelings about the casting for The Great Seducer â€” while I felt that Woo Do-hwan and Kim Min-jae are just about perfect for their roles, I was unsure what to expect from Moon Ga-young and Joy, who seem to be capable but can still be a bit green. I’m happy to report that Moon Ga-young is frankly killing it as Soo-ji — she turns in an excellent portrayal of a girl who seems to have everything, but who secretly feels insecure and inadequate, causing her to lash out at anyone who crosses her. She turned in a much better performance than I expected of her in this premiere, and I’m excited to see what else she can do as the heat turns up and things start to go horribly wrong.

I adore Kim Min-jae and Woo Do-hwan in their roles, too, and although that was more expected, I’m still impressed with how well they’re doing. I’ve only seen Kim Min-jae playing serious, broody characters, so his bouncy, cheeky Se-joo is a lot of fun, largely for the novelty. He does a great job with his hidden crush on Soo-ji, letting his feelings sneak out just enough for us to see them, then shoving them back deep inside again. And I think that Woo Do-hwan is so far proving that our faith in him to make a great leading man was not misplaced (not to mention, the boy can smolder like nobody’s business). And I love how well he plays Shi-hyun as jaded but not heartless, someone who’s capable of seeing the truth about people that they try to hide. He acts like a disaffected playboy, but in reality, he’s actually very sensitive and observant. And we can see how much he loves Soo-ji but knows that she doesn’t feel the that way, and how much it hurts him. I can’t wait to watch him struggle with his conflicted feelings once Tae-hee enters the picture.

I’m very familiar with the source material, and I’m so gratified to see that so far, the Korean adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons (and the subsequent re-adaptations, Cruel Intentions and Untold Scandal) seems poised to tell the same dramatic story about love, revenge, and betrayal. At the same time, I appreciated the humorous moments, which weren’t too silly and managed to balance out the darker undercurrents quite nicely. My biggest concern was that the darker, sexier moments would be watered down for television, since the story wouldn’t be nearly as compelling without digging deep into some pretty raw issues. But so far, the characters don’t shy away from generally taboo subjects like sex, so I feel like I can trust that we’ll get the story we expect, and not a cleaned-up, much tamer version.

I totally agreed with you. For the last part, I do think that they will have some dark/sexy moment later on because joy and minjae did mentioned hahaaha maybe but I hope so..

It will be hurt to see once shihyun fall in love with euntae because whatever he choose will hurt both girls/sides.. let's wait... I cannot wait for next week.. anticipating...

Ok so I watched ep 3 and 4 last night!

I feel really satisfied with the drama so far, I was really scared of how MBC would handle it but it looks like they will handle the story well and it makes me feel glad, I can totally see why people are calling it crack, is definitely a cringe-fest, but Cruel Intentions was a cringe-fest too (far cringier imo) and I love it for that, this drama won't be the exception, unless the script-writers fuck it up bigtime at the end.

The sexual tension between Sooji and Sihyun is just insane, as it should be, I definitely understand why people are shipping them more, especially because the moments between Taehee and Sihyun are basically non-existent, but these two will be on screen together a lot more starting from next week and I can't wait for that!

Although everyone wants her to not be that bad and have a happy ending perhaps with Sejoo, Sooji's character needs to turn darker as the drama goes by, if she doesn't this is something that will bother me a lot, her character is supposed to be evil, and I want her to reach the extents Madam Jo and Kathryn Merteuil reached to make sure Jo Won and Sebastian Valmont completed their bet regardless of how deep in love they were for Lady Jung and Annette Hargrove, I want to see Sooji being manipulative, she is not an adapted version of these two if she isn't manipulative with no sense of humanity when it comes to getting what she wants.

The BGMs didn't bother me these 2 episodes, the editing is still confusing though, the cinematography remains absolutely gorgeous.

As for Joy, I would like to say that she definitely improved a lot since her last drama, it could be because i'm her fan but people feeling outraged by her acting are exaggerating it way too much, her screentime in these 4 episodes were that of a supporting role so for me it makes it quite amusing, the girl is definitely green, but she's not that bad and considering this is merely her 2nd drama she's improving a lot faster than I anticipated.

Does anyone know what Woo Do Hwan was doing career-wise in 2013-2015? Just curious because I checked out his filmography and he doesn't have any works from that time period. I thought he might've gone to the army or something but that doesn't seem to be the case lol.

probably focusing on his studies since he graduated from Dankook University
