That Japanese Man Yuta video about Logan Paul (Don't Be That Guy In Japan... Or Anywhere Else)

i wanted to throw up. i literally wanted to throw up. i'm shaking

even if you don't understand the code of conduct in japan, you feel it. the social control is strong, it's intuitive, it's a force of nature and you can't ignore it. i've seen tourists get glares for just laughing a little too loudly on the subway

how does a person behave like this. anywhere. how just how

Yeah, the problem with him and some other YouTubers lies deeper than Logan's suicide forest video. This stuff is so disgusting and awful.

Not just Japan. Did you see him in Venice? (I think it was Venice.) He jumped into the canals (?) shirtless when explicitly told not to, and other stuff like that. There's a general intentional lack of respect for views, and it's absolutely, absolutely encouraged. REWARDED, even. I mean, I read something about how Logan Paul earned $11 million last year alone!

Anyways, he and his brother need to fuck off. They're not 12-year-olds, but they're being rewarded for acting like them. (I know I had more restraint when I wasn't even 12 years old.)

tbh no surprise he couldn't understand the social control.  the fact that he didn't think RECORDING A DEAD BODY was wrong in any way shows how ignorant and just plain stupid he is

we need to leave him in 2017

I didn't know about his other vlogs before this but I can't say I'm surprised that he's this obnoxious. every one of those clips was absolutely cringeworthy. the most annoying part to me is that people come to Japan all "haha anime, haha pokemon haha kimonos" as if nobody has ever had the same thoughts before. you think people here don't see that shit from every tourist? what makes you so clever and insightful?

tbh I know the point you're making but I think it's also a bit unhelpful to characterise Japan as especially strict and tight-laced, because while there is societal pressure and an expectation of a certain level of etiquette, it's not as if you can't cut loose and have fun here or make a minor faux pas without everyone immediately judging you, because you can, and people here are overall very accommodating and forgiving if it's clear that it's an honest mistake or misunderstanding.

people can be rambunctious, outgoing, mischievous and funny without disrupting other people's days by doing it in a negative, intimidating way. everywhere in world, tourists tend to act as if local notices and requests don't apply to them, and when you live in a tourist-heavy area, those kind of attitudes start to pile up and become a big annoyance...
